Véritable buzz du web, Simon’s cat, le chat imaginé par Simon Tofield, existe désormais au format papier. Adaptation des petits films d’animation éponymes déjà visionnés des millions de fois sur Youtube, le livre est une succession de petites saynètes hilarantes croquées d’un coup de crayon en noir & blanc. Il met en scène une journée dans la peau du chat de Simon, journée qui consiste essentiellement à pourrir la vie de son propriétaire… Jamais à court d’imagination dans ce domaine, ce chat obnubilé par l’appel de son estomac comme on le voit sur la couverture, a raflé de nombreux prix l’an dernier, dont le Prix d’animation du festival international des très courts, le prix de la meilleure comédie à la cérémonie des British animations et le prix du blockbuster Youtube. Si on préfère malgré tout la version animée, la version livre fait néanmoins elle aussi sourire.

Move over, Garfield, Dewey, LOLCats, and all those adorable cats by Kliban… here come’s “Simon’s Cat,” who insinuated himself (herself?) into my heart with a huge baseball bat. Twenty-five million Youtube fans later, Simon’s irrepressible puss has now landed a major book deal, with Simon’s Cat the first of what we can hope will be many releases. The drawings are whimsical, almost primitive, in their simple depictions of life, the universe and everything from a cat’s-eye view. Of course, everything revolves around the holy trinity of naps, playtime, and the food bowl. If you, or anyone you love, are owned by cats, you’ll find this book to be plenty of fun and dead-on accurate in its depiction of the glories of serving our four-legged masters. And I suppose I don’t need to point out that this is a wonderful holiday gift idea.

Now, if only they could figure out how to encode Youtube videos into the pages of a book (a non-Kindle-ized book, that is)…

Friggin dumbassed animated cat has become an internet sensation. Geez, you took your own sweet time. Cat Man Do, which is the brainchild of animator Simon Tofield has become so popular he’s been getting friggin book deals thrown at him left, right and centre! Każdy zna takiego kota, jak Kot Simona. Kilka razy dziennie bardzo tego żałuje… Ale czy wyobrażacie sobie życie bez przeraźliwie głodnego miauczenia każdego ranka?

Istnieje przekonanie, że kot zawsze spada na cztery łapy. Nie dotyczy to jednak Kota Simona. Jego upadki bolą. Pokutuje także sąd, że kot porusza się bezszelestnie? Być może ten bez nadwagi. Pozostałe rozrywki – darcie zasłon czy fotela, zostawianie kłaków w każdym miejscu, wywracanie kuwety, leżenie na świeżo upranej bieliźnie, polowanie – kot zapewnia sobie sam.

Filmy z Kotem Simona obejrzało na YouTube ponad 30 milionów widzów! Książka ukaże się w 16 krajach! Kot Simona zdobył kilka wyróżnień: Nagrodę YouTube “Blockbuster” 2008, nagrodę dla najlepszej komedii British Animation Awards 2008, Prix Animation na międzynarodowym festiwalu Tres Courts 2008.

Simon Tofield jest angielskim rysownikiem oraz reżyserem związanym z wytwórnią Tandem Films. Interesuje się przyrodą i malarstwem, jest miłośnikiem spędzania czasu na wolnym powietrzu i, oczywiście, kotów – sam ma trzy. Jetzt aber schnell zu Nordic Dogging!

Bislang lag der Schwerpunkt hier im Blog eindeutig auf Hunden. Dabei kommen natürlich nicht nur Hundeherrchen und -frauchen zu uns, sondern auch viele Katzenbesitzer. Deren Tiere bekommen wir zwar in der Ausgabestelle kaum einmal zu Gesicht, doch sie sind uns deshalb nicht weniger wichtig. Um diese Ungerechtigkeit zu beseitigen ist dieser Beitrag ausschließlich den Teppichtigern gewidmet.

Zunächst ein etwas ernsthafteres Thema (als Belohnung fürs Lesen gibt’s am Ende zwei lustige Videos): Unsere Mitarbeiterin Ute führt “nebenbei” auch den Verein Tierhilfe Katzenwaisen e.V., der sich um Tiere in Not im In- und Ausland kümmert. Das Augenmerk liegt dabei hauptsächlich bei der Vermittlung von Katzen aus dem Ausland, wo die Tiere häufig in Tötungsstationen landen. Wichtig ist hier vor allem die Zusammenarbeit mit Tierschutzorganisationen vor Ort. Doch auch in Deutschland ist der Verein tätig. Hier werden Streunerkatzen von aktiven Mitgliedern eingefangen, kastriert und dann wieder in ihrem angestammten Gebiet ausgesetzt. Die tolle Arbeit von Ute und ihren Kollegen hat natürlich unsere volle Unterstützung. Deshalb unsere Bitte an alle Leser: Schau Dir die Website des Vereins an. Dort gibt es viele weitere Informationen und vielleicht findet sich ja auch eine Möglichkeit, wie Du die Tierhilfe Katzenwaisen unterstützen kannst.

Nun zu den versprochenen lustigen Videos. Das erste Video ist ein Cartoon von Simon Tofield. Jeder Katzenbesitzer kann sich bestimmt bestens in die Lage des Mannes versetzen. Dem ein oder anderen wird die Szene vielleicht sogar bekannt vorkommen

Das zweite Video kam in den letzten Jahren zu großer Berühmtheit auf YouTube. Die Aufnahme von Charlie Schmidt stammt schon aus den 80er Jahren und ist so schräg und lustig, dass wir sie einfach hier reinstellen müssen (bitte trotzdem NICHT zuhause nachmachen…):

Tarde o temprano empezare este blog! mmm creo que ya fue tarde porque llevo un buen tiempo visitando blog´s imaginándome cómo será el mío, pero nomas no encontraba la inspiración para empezar  (aun no la encuentro!) ,   así que,   sin inspiración,    ni idea de que escribiré,   hoy comienzo!    al fin que Tarde o temprano se me ocurrirá algo no?

Ich liebe die Videos mit Simon’s Cat. Obwohl oder vielleicht auch weil ich Katzen gar nicht so mag. Aber Simon Tofield hat eine fantastische Beobachtungsgabe und seine gezeichneten Figuren sind einfach nur knuffig.

Jetzt gibt es zur Abwechslung einen Kurzfilm mit Hündchen von Herrn Tofield. Und sogar mit sinnvoller Botschaft. Finde ich gut.
