This is my nod to what has become one of the most overused words in the English language, “evolve.” Presumably this is happening because it’s a sciencey sounding word and everyone thinks that’s cool. Personally, I’d like to stop evolving and just go back to changing and adapting. All this evolving is giving me a headache.

It’s sort of like going on a long, hateful vacation but we will be home. Won’t we?

Pick a deep, dark color. I chose black. Set Opacity to 100% and Thickness to 20 pixels.

First you have to draw a stump because the tree trunk must be thickest at the bottom. Set Thickness to 15 pixels and add the middle part of the trunk. The top part has to be the thinnest, so set Thickness to 11 pixels. You don’t have to worry about drawing straight lines. With Thickness set to 11 pixels start adding some of the main branches.

Now you have to add some forks to the main branches, so set Thickness to 8 pixels. Then, with Thickness set to 6 pixels, add more forks and branches placed here and there on your tree. You can slip in some twists and turns.

Next set Thickness to 3 pixels and draw some thinner lines at the ends of your branches. Finally, set Thickness to 5 pixels and draw the base of the tree.
