John Thiel on occasion has verbalised the belief that there are tall majestic beings living on the planet Saturn. It has even been said that Enoch visited the planet Saturn. [1]  Why do some think that the planet Saturn is inhabited?

An early Adventist Minister, John N. Loughborough, wrote a book called The Great Second Advent Movement. On page 258 paragraph 1 of this book J. N. Loughborough describes a vision in which E. G. White saw the planets of the solar system. He writes that she saw the planet Saturn and that she said it had seven moons. On page 260 paragraph 4 of the same book J. N. Loughborough quotes a letter received from Mrs. Truesdail on Jan 27, 1891. In the letter Mrs. Truesdail describes the same vision writing that: – “After counting aloud the moons of Jupiter, and soon after those of Saturn, she gave a beautiful description of the rings of the latter.  She then said, ‘The inhabitants are a tall, majestic people, so unlike the inhabitants of earth.  Sin has never entered here.’“

The above mention ideas are then linked to another statement made by E. G. White in the book Early Writings: – “Then I was taken to a world which had seven moons. There I saw good old Enoch, who had been translated. . . . I asked him if this was the place he was taken to from the earth. He said, ‘It is not; the city is my home, and I have come to visit this place.’ He moved about the place as if perfectly at home.” {EW 39.3}

Is it possible that John Thiel and his group are correct, that there are living beings on Saturn?

Saturn is covered with thick layers of gaseous clouds to a depth of about 200 kilometres. It is rare to see past the top layer of cloud to more layers of cloud below. The liquid surface of the planet is not visible. [2] If there were any living beings on the liquid surface of Saturn it would be impossible for them to observe the moons or the rings of Saturn through the clouds. Saturn’s atmosphere consists of hydrogen (94.4 percent), helium (7.4 percent), methane (0.2 percent), and ammonia (0.02 percent). [2] Any living being on Saturn would have to breathe this atmosphere.

Saturn is believed to have a solid core but also an intermediate layer of liquid hydrogen. [3] Since Saturn has no solid surface in its outer layers (only gas and liquid) the whole planet assumes oblate spheroid shape, like a squashed ball. It is the most oblate shaped planet in the solar system. [4] If living beings were on Saturn they’d be swimming in an ocean of liquid hydrogen.

Temperatures at the top of Saturn’s the clouds are massively below freezing. Descending into Saturn’s atmosphere temperatures become warmer but atmospheric pressure increases to the same as several kilometres beneath the ocean on earth. [5] Any living thing on Saturn, besides having to swimming in the ocean of liquid hydrogen, would have to withstand the enormous pressures of the atmosphere pressing down from above.

Saturn is one of the windiest places in the Solar System. Wind speeds have been clocked at 1800 kilometres per hour at the equator.  [6] Any living thing on Saturn would have to withstand the enormous storms on Saturn and more than likely would be torn to pieces. NASA’s space probe Cassini has taken many pictures of these enormous storms.

Considering all the above it is highly doubtful there are any living beings on Saturn. Mrs Truesdail may well have been mistaken in her account of what she thought was said by E. G. White.

Also it is extremely tenuous trying to link the book The Great Second Advent Movement with what is written about Enoch in the book Early Writings. In one book Saturn is said to have seven moons in the other an unnamed world is said to have seven moons. There is nothing to say these are the same worlds or planets. This is pure speculation. There are numberless worlds throughout the universe that it could be.

When Galileo began to study the heavens with the telescope in the late 1500′s he came to the conclusion that the earth revolved around the sun. This was considered heresy by the church. Scripture was used to show that the earth is stationary while the sun is revolves around the earth. (see Ecclesiastes 1:5; Psalms 16:30; 93:1; 96:10; Joshua 10:13). Galileo believed that the writers of the Scripture merely wrote from the perspective of the terrestrial world. Indeed when a poet writes that the “sun moves across the sky, on a grand arc toward the horizon” they are not wrong. Neither is the astronomer wrong in describing the movement of the sun and planets. They write from a different perspective.

In 1632 Galileo published a book titled Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief Systems of the World. In the book Galileo includes a fictitious character called Simplicio. Into the mouth of Simplicio he put all of the arguments of his opponents. He then demolished these with his own powerful arguments, often with devastating satire. Into the mouth of Simplicio Galileo put one of the arguments the pope put to him in 1623. The pope was livid and never forgave Galileo.

We now have modern Simplicio’s arguing there are tall majestic beings living on the planet Saturn.

John Thiel’s group promote the writing of J. N. Loughborough who quotes Mrs Truesdail concerning tall majestic beings living on Saturn. His group are happy to post this on the internet with supporting information. [1] John Thiel argues that he follows the Adventist Pioneers. J. N. Loughborough is an Adventist Pioneer.

Yet John Thiel does not always follow J. N. Loughborough neither does he always follow E. G. White.

J. N. Loughborough wrote the book Last-Day Tokens.  In this book J. N. Loughborough quotes Joel 2:30 and goes on to explain what he believes it refers to: – “About the middle of the sixteenth century there appeared a wonder in the heavens that finally, in the fore part of the eighteenth century, assumed the exact appearance of that predicted by the prophet Joel.  It is the aurora borealis, first seen in a fiery display in Great Britain in 1716, and in America for the first time, three years later, in 1719.  From the middle of the sixteenth century there have been witnessed, from time to time, in increasing magnitude, ‘spears of red light in the heavens,’ and ‘shooting stars;’ but up to A. D. 1716 no fiery display is recorded.”

E. G. White wrote the book Spiritual Gifts volume 3.  In this book E. G. White quotes Joel 2:30 and goes on to explain what she believes it refers to: – “The bowels of the earth were the Lord’s arsenal, from which he drew forth the weapons he employed in the destruction of the old world. {3SG 82.2}  . . In the day of the Lord, just before the coming of Christ, God will send lightnings from Heaven in his wrath, which will unite with fire in the earth. The mountains will burn like a furnace, and will pour forth terrible streams of lava, destroying gardens and fields, villages and cities; and as they pour their melted ore, rocks and heated mud into the rivers, will cause them to boil like a pot, and send forth massive rocks and scatter their broken fragments upon the land with indescribable violence.” {3SG 82.3}

Meanwhile John Thiel quotes Joel 2:30 and says what he believes it refers to: – “When wars are coming, they will herald the coming of Jesus. Blood, fire and pillars of smoke.  In the margin it says palm trees of smoke.  Have we seen these?  Nuclear bombs.  Ever since the signs the threat of war has escalated.” [9]

There are three different views. J. N. Loughborough believes that Joel 2:30 is referring to the aurora borealis in the 1700′s. E. G. White believes Joel 2:30 is referring to volcanic destruction in the last plagues. John Thiel believes Joel 2:30 refers to future nuclear war. Who are we to follow?

John Thiel says we should follow E. G. White and the Adventist Pioneers yet he completely abandons them when it comes to Joel 2:30. Woe betide anyone who should contradict John Thiel. In September 2003 an individual, taking John Thiel’s advice to follow the Adventist Pioneers, preached J. N. Loughborough’s view of Joel 2:30 from the pulpit. Not long after John Thiel slammed this view from the pulpit promoting his own view instead. This public contradiction completely humiliated this individual.  It appears that John Thiel’s view of things must dominate at all costs.

The above example shows how John Thiel does not always follow E. G. White and the Adventist Pioneers like he claims. Thus none should be condemned for abandoning Mrs Truesdail’s letter about tall majestic beings living on Saturn.

J. N. Loughborough was living in a time when there was a lot of  ignorance concerning the condition of the planets. In his ignorance he may have believed the surface of Saturn was solid like that of the earth. It’s doubtful J. N. Loughborough would have ever added Mrs Truesdail’s letter to his book had he know the real conditions of Saturn.

Some might say that belief that there are beings living on Saturn is only a minor point and that it doesn’t matter whether we believe it or not. However it is a serious concern that anyone would believe it at all being based on a few ambiguous statements linked together so tenuously. Further it invites the question how many other ambiguous statements are being used by such an incredibly simple people to sustain other wrong ideas.

The 32-year-old Simplicio signed a one-year contract with the Osaka team which has been struggling and is currently in 15th place in the 18-team J-League standings.

Simplicio said on the team’s official website “I know Cerezo has had some difficult times lately and I look forward to helping them as soon as I can.”

Simplicio scored 58 goals over 12 seasons with Brazilian side Sao Paulo and Italian clubs Parma, Palermo and Roma.

Menekan terus-terusan, Napoli malah harus menyerah kalah 3-1. Blunder Morgan De Sanctis dan dua gol dari Pablo Osvaldo dan
Fabio Simplicio yang akhirnya menjadi penentu kekalahan tuan rumah.

Hasil itu menghambat langkah Napoli untuk bisa mendekati perolehan poin tim yang berada di atasnya. Sampai giornata ke-15, Napoli masih mengantungi 21 angka.

Gol pertama Roma tercipta karena blunder yang dilakukan De Sanctis. Crossing Erik Lamela ke depan gawang Napoli gagal diantisipasi dengan baik oleh De Sanctis, yang membuat gawangnya jebol di menit ketiga.

Napoli pun berusaha menekan dan membalas gol Roma, namun hingga turun minum tak ada hasil positif dari usaha mereka.

Napoli baru bisa mencetak gol di menit 82 lewat tendangan Marek Hamsik setelah mendapat sodoran bola dari Zuniga.

Tapi sesaat sebelum berakhirnya pertandingan, Roma mencetak gol ketiganya lewat sepakan Simplicio. Pertandingan pun berkesudahan 3-1 untuk kemenangan Roma.

Fábio Simplício started his career at Corinthians’ arch-rivals São Paulo

Fábio Henrique Simplício started his career at São Paulo in 2000, moving to Parma in 2004,  and two years later to Palermo, where he had his best performances. He would stay there until 2010, when moved to Roma. His only international cap came only in 2009, in a match between Brazil and Oman.

Corinthians have been short in defensive midfielders since Elias and Jucilei moved overseas, leaving the club in need of finding reinforcements for that position. Fábio Simplício though won’t be able to debut before August, when the Brazilian international transfer window opens again.

Besides Fábio Simplício, Corinthians are also signing Spartak Moscow’s captain Alex. Paulo Henrique Ganso and Clarence Seedorf have also been linked to the club, but there are no official negotiations in place at the moment.

The 23-year-old has also played on the left of a 4-4-2 under Dave Jones.

Cardiff City’s midfielder Joe Ledley is a wanted man. The national press list Roma, Celtic, and a host of Premier League outfits as interested parties. Locally, there’s even talk of Turks and Greeks trying to tempt the Welsh international overseas.

There are various reasons as to why he appeals to foreign clubs – EU passport-holding, energetic, quick, left-footed, non-confrontational, and, perhaps most crucially, available for free.

As the Bluebirds are English league structure members, an acquiring Premier League side would have to pay compensation (determined by an independent tribunal).

For the club that introduced him to the world, that sum would be mere peanuts. After Spurs nicked star-in-the-making John Bostock a few years back, the amount awarded to Crystal Palace was a mere £700k.

It’s well known that the runners-up in Serie A and the SPL are broke, and therefore, footballers such as Ledley are granted status-elevation that moneyed clubs don’t have to apply.

If the interest of cash-strapped duo Celtic and Roma is genuine (and therefore the BBC better informed than South Wales’ regularly incorrect media), evaluating options available to the clubs in Ledley’s centre midfield position indicates the difficulties he’ll face.

In the second-half of 2009/10, Roma were one of the best teams in the world. Fluid, free and fearsome in Ranieri’s 4-2-3-1, Internazionale’s main domestic challengers were especially impressive around the middle of the park.

De Rossi’s energy, reading of the game, and use of the ball were imperious. The minuscle David Pizarro fused through-ball-finding quarterback with brutal wave-breaker.

Positionally, Ledley would *be* De Rossi. Yet unless he leaves for a continental powerhouse, the Cardiffian would simply have to be content with warming the bench alongside Matteo Brighi and Ricardo Faty.

Just ahead of Pizarro and De Rossi last season were Roma’s same-wavelength forward-four; the ghost of Spalletti’s 4-6-0 still very much in their collective shell.

With one of Brighi or Faty certain to depart, Roma this week acquired a replacement – Palermo’s 30-year-old Fábio Simplicio joined for free, earning a three-year-deal.

While he struggled for gametime at the Sicillians last season (Rossi stuck by his midfield diamond of Liverani-Migliaccio, Nocerino-Pastore), the dynamical Brazilian has six years of Serie A experience.

Celtic, 2009/10

Elsewhere, Celtic have are generously stocked in Ledley’s position. The Glaswegians’ interest is further complicated by the fact that Neil Lennon is yet to be confirmed as manager.

Under the Ulsterman and Tony Mowbray, the Hoops tried many different combinations in the centre of the park last season. With a clean bill of health, the sitting Landry N’Guemo and driving Scott Brown were first-choice.

Ledley isn’t of the class to immediately replace the stylistically similar Scot just yet, and thus, one assumes that the club’s interest emanates from Brown lining up a big-money move away from Celtic Park.

Even if the former Hibs employee does leave, Ledley still has a task in cementing his place. The inventive Marc Crosas, tricky Ki Sung-Yeung, and bobbing Zheng Zhi all boast glorious talents.

Blackburn Rovers, 2009/10

In my opinion, Ledley would fit in well at a club like Blackburn. Whether he’d make such a move is another question, of course. And, as a Premier League club would be required to fork out money for the Welshman, his signing-on fee would be reduced.

On-pitch, Sam Allardyce’s system is made for a player like Ledley (who has little to fear from Keith Andrews and Brett Emerton blocking the way). Rovers love to hoof the ball upfield, so feeding off the knock-downs from the  burly Jason Roberts, Ledley’s impeccable sense of timing would see him utilise such service.

Quando la gara sembra indirizzata verso l’1-1 finale, ecco il gol vittoria di Sneijder al 93’ che dà 3 punti importantissimi ai nerazzurri. Poco prima del gol decisivo, clamorosa occasione sciupata da Di Natale, che all’88’ poteva chiudere la partita in favore dei  friulani. A pari punti con l’Inter  in testa ora c’è la Sampdoria, che non va oltre l’1-1 casalingo contro il Parma. Al 4° gol stagionale di Pazzini risponde Galloppa, che regala un punto preziosissimo e forse inatteso ai gialloblù guidati da Guidolin. Punto sofferto del Milan a Bergamo contro una buonissima Atalanta, passata in vantaggio con Tiribocchi e raggiunta solo all’84’ da Ronaldinho. Nerazzurri in 10 dal 40’ per l’espulsione di Radovanovic. Dopo la brutta sconfitta casalinga contro lo Zurigo, piccolo passo avanti per Leonardo e i suoi. Dopo il ko di Udine torna a vincere il Genoa, che con un sonoro 3-1 in trasferta ha la meglio su un brutto Bologna. I gol di Zapater, Sculli e Kharja su rigore stendono gli uomini di Papadopulo, che segnano il gol della bandiera con Di Vaio dal dischetto (gol del momentaneo 2-1 a 5 minuti dal termine). Seconda rete in campionato per Di Vaio. Continua a stupire il Chievo, salito a quota 11 punti e vittorioso a Cagliari grazie ad una doppietta di Marcolini, giunto a 3 gol in questo campionato. Il gol della bandiera per i padroni di casa è stato di Matri, autore del momentaneo vantaggio sardo al 38’. La Roma supera il Napoli, in caduta libera, grazie ad un super Totti (nella foto), autore di due gol (6 finora in campionato). Il capitano giallorosso raggiunge così 184 gol in Serie A, eguagliando il record di Gabriel Batistuta. Il Napoli era però passato in vantaggio con Lavezzi, subendo poi il ritorno dei giallorossi ancora imbattuti in A da quando Ranieri siede sulla panchina romanista.
