The Nightflight promoters may have narrowed their events at Dublin’s Button Factory to monthly occassions – but when they host an event they do it with quality –  Hamburgs Tensnake is over on the 11th December. Iirish label FVF are doing the chaitable thing with Marc Ashken’s Movember EP special release and are giving 50% of all label profits directly to the men’s health charity, Movember, with whom the label is working with. See www.movember.com for more information.

The EP consists of three tracks by Marc Ashken and a remix by the Donk Boys. Donk Boys feature with a tech remix of The Second Mouse, perfect for those frenetic dancefloor moments.

RTE PULSE has its hands full with Adam Fogarty constantly activating various projects. Fogarty is about to launch ‘Breakdown Records’. A digital and 12″ vinyl label with international distribution for the 12″ and the obvious digital outlets such as Juno and Beatport for digital releases. The label’s focus will be nu funk and big beat mainly. With a focus on Irish and emerging talent, as well as developing our roster with UK talent – The first release is Johnny Pluse ‘Market Street EP’.  As always the show continues on DAB and online with Adam’s show Breakonomics Sunday 10 – 12 pm on RTE PULSE……

On Friday the 4th of December also on RTE PULSE -  celebrating 4 years of Ceoltronic Radio and 1 year of RTE Pulse being on the airwaves, DJ Will Kinsella will be doing a feature called “a Day with Minus“, based on Minus events at the ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) in October of this year. Will had back stage access to all the artists and has some exclusive interviews on the show. Magda, Ambivalent, HOBO, JPLS, Fabrio Maurizi some of the Minus crew featured on the show…

Clubs opening all over the place at the moment with Dara O Neil AKA DANCEPIG launching a new club in the very heart of BERLIN in Kreuzberg 4^th of December. With a capacity of 300, a void sound system and my favourite structure of a basement premises. The name of the club is to be Kleine Reise – which means Little Trip in German. The venture also has involvement from the 52 Funk crew now set up in Berlin. For my first Madness Monday I will highlight the sad case of my Great Great Grandmother, Caroline Woodsell nee Sindon.

Caroline was born in Kent in 1843 and was taken by her father William, along with the rest of the family to India. They resided in Bombay where she met and married John Woodsell at the tender age of 17 years.  He was a widower with a young child.  They married the Christchurch in Bombay on 23 September 1861 by Liscence.

Caroline proceeded to bear 12 children with John:

1. John on 18 March 1863
2. Hannah Margaret on 7 January 1865
3. Eliza Jane on 3 June 1866
4. Caroline on 12 January 1868
5. Alice Mary on 12 November 1869
6. Arthur Ernest on 26 March 1871
7. Frederick Charles in 1872
8. Charlotte Isabella on 3 December 1873
9. William Alfred on 29 March 1875
10. Emily Ruth on 31 July 1876
11. Daisy Rebecca on 18 August 1879
12. Lilian Elizabeth on 25 May 1882

The Woodsell family lived a comfortable life in India with John being a Permanent Way Inspector in charge of the Kurrachee line.  However, for reasons unknown, Caroline made a solo trip back to England staying with friend Margaret Parry in Bootle cum Linacre, Lancashire.  In January 1885, she was taken to the police station in Bootle where she was examined and assessed by Richard John Sprakeling, a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons and a Licentiate of the Society of Apothecaries, as being a person of unsound mind to be taken into care and treatment, on 6 January.  Facts that were observed that led to this indication of insanity were her disconnected, incoherent speech, suicidal threats and wild appearance and manner.

An order was made for Caroline to be admitted to the County Lunatic Asylum at Prestwich, Lancaster.  However, on 20 November 1885, another order was issued to transfer her to the County Lunatic Asylum at Lancaster, Lancaster by two Justices of the Peace.  Caroline remained there until she was moved into Rainhill Annexe of the Asylum on 12 December 1887.  She was exhibiting all signs of Chronic Mania and Dementia, cause unknown.  She was unable to employ herself and wandered around aimlessly.  She had no sense of time, not knowing the day, month of even year or any idea of her age – saying she was 30 or 40, 50, 60 on her statement.  She was unable to string words together coherently although initially she threatened suicide if the government or Prince of Wales did not send her back to rejoin her husband in India.

John died on 10 November 1895 in India.  It is unlikely that Caroline ever knew of his death.  John, being left with young family, the youngest being only 2 on her admittance, never returned to England.  Caroline never saw her family again and died, alone – being dull and suspicious, experiencing delusions of persecution.  She passed on 22 November 1902, officially from Chronic Nephritis at 10.45pm.   Apparently the disease, confirmed by post mortem, had been present for some years.  Whether or not this had anything to do with her Dementia and Mania, I will have to enquire of someone with medical knowledge.

Got a new track from The Count and Sinden, its the B side from the soon to released track “Strange Things”, the track I have is “Elephant 1234″, this track is big. This is typical count and sinden, big bassline house music and I love it. Not much more I can say, The Count and Sinden are some of my favourite producers around and together they just make wicked music. Look out for the A side Strange Things, its a jungle track and its a banger.

Next up is a new remix from Sub Focus. Off the success of his self titled album, he has now remixed Dizzee Rascal’s new single “Dirtee Cash”. This remix could be massive, I was not a big fan of the original track but this remix unlocks the true potential of this track and given it loads of energy and a wicked bassline. I can see this getting a bit a radio play, I just can’t enough of Sub Focus at the moment.

Lastly I’ve got a track I have wanted for ages and have only just got hold of it. It is the Armand Van Helden remix of “Dance the Way I Feel” by Ou Est Le Swimming Pool. Loved this one since I first heard it, its AVH given the track a bit of wobble and turning this track into a dance floor killer. This is great electro pop turned into something much more and AVH deserves a lot of credit cause I think this track is so good.

First up is banging remix from A-Trak of Yeah Yeah Yeah’s track “Heads Will Roll”. Really like this track, its very catchy track and A-Trak has injected a fair amount of pumping bass into this track. This track is storming the blogs at the moment and is sure to be heard out and about in the clubs.

Second here I’ve got a remix from Sinden of a Jack Splash track called “I could have loved you”. This is wicked, I absolutely love the electro stabs in this one and those lovely vocals kick in and then it leaves you waiting for the drop but when it comes it worth it, not too heavy just bouncy. Perfect.

To finish this post off a bit of Bart B More, here with a bootleg of Lily Allen’s “The Fear”. Great track this one, with the electro beeps under the vocals, then those distinctive B more beats, just love all the cut up vocals and beats, it can’t be beaten. Defiantly worth a listen on a proper system this one.

Many dope DJs and producers have been rolling through Hong Kong on their Asian tours lately. It’s been a special pleasure to host and tourguide the legendary Sinden last week, as he’s not only one of the UK’s hottest DJs, producers and remixers of these times, but also one of the most humble, modest and friendly chaps in this biz, plus a true inspiration. Needless to mention that he ripped Volar to shreds last Friday.

I can hardly think of anyone that’s been out on the scene for as little as 3 years, bangin’ out so many high quality club tunes and remixes in such a short time, remixing heavyweight names such as Basement Jaxx, Mark Ronson, Santogold, Bjork and Robbie Williams, just to namedrop a few. KID SISTER ANNOUNCES ARRIVAL OF DEBUT ALBUM

When Kid Sister (aka Melisa Young) turned in her album, originally titled Dream Date, in September of 2008, she pulled a daring move and asked Downtown to hold off on releasing it.
 
“There were a few things about the album that irked me…the album wasn’t cohesive”, Young told Pitchfork in an interview earlier this year. Downtown allowed her some time to make the album what she wanted, and she went back to work with executive producer A-Trak and the rest of the creative team behind Fool’s Gold. The result is Ultraviolet.  The album merges electronic music and club rap in ways that have never been done before.
 
The album includes production by some of the most sought after, cutting edge producers working today (including A-Trak, Rusko, Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso, Sinden, XXXChange, Brian Kennedy, Herve, Yuksek and DJ Gant-Man) who all seem to have recognized the talent and star power that also motivated Kanye West to collaborate with her on 2007’s Pro Nails single, helping in part to create the deafening buzz that surrounds her now. Heads Will Roll says…

It’s time to get your credit cards ready and get officially excited as Perth’s 2010 Summadayze line-up is announced and the presale begins September 9 at 9am. Considering how fast Fake Blood and Sinden, who are both on this line-up, sold out Villa expect tickets to this festival to be very hard to come by in a very short time. If you’re regular reader of Heads Will Roll you may have noticed how excited we are about seeing 2manydjs “live show”, click here and here to possibly understand where we are coming from. Also on the line-up is James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) in DJ mode, which means disco to the max. Carl Cox is making good use of his Australian residency, Sharam (Deep Dish) is sure to impress. Eddie Halliwell should make Perth’s trance community stock up on their novelty paraphernalia. The chin strokers will be pretending they aren’t impressed, but secretly wetting themselves for Danny Howells, Josh Wink and Nic Fanciulli. The blog kids have Treasure Fingers, Riton, Fake Blood and Sinden. As this is just the first line-up you can expect more artists to be announced in the coming months, hopefully the Proxy is one of those included.

Today was the day everyone was excited about. I was getting ready to go to Summer Hard fest but luckily for me and my twitter addiction i put in hard fest into a search. The only updates that came up where  (a). People excited about going to HARD and (b). People complaining about standing in line for 4 hours and not been able to get in. 

Based on information available at the moment the tickets where oversold over the capacity which triggered LAPD to shut it down. There where also rumors about a gang gun shootings which do not seem legitimate as of now. Thousands of ravers started rioting outside after standing in line for hours and realising they are not able to get in. The music on the main stage was shut off for about  two hours. Then SWAT team and the riot police arrived. Blocking people from been able to leave the FORUM building and arresting people outside. 

Here is a story my friend received:

“I just got home from Hardfest that thing was allll my money and I have to drive to a state for 6 hours that I absolutely hate thats full of people that I hate even more within the hour.They pushed a porta-potty over[with people in it or not]and shoved it twords us on the ground[my life flashed before my eyes]they were throwing water bottles everywhere,they blew a gas bomb RIGHT behind me,there was glass being shattered and gates being taken down-there was a point when people tried to jump a gate to climb a higher wall to get into the building,a couple got through and the second you saw their fingers touch the railing these GIANT black security guards just picked em up and threw them back down like they were nothing while everyone stood back and yelled”OHHHHHHH!”

no, not that pretty funny movie starring Zach Galifianakis. this is a real one. so as most of you know, last night was the VIKING show at Webster Hall in NYC. from what i can remember, it was an amazing time. the real story is about what i CAN’T remember…

NickTheTorpedo and i honestly were so fucked up out of our minds that we can’t recall wtf we did. i know for a fact that we did end up getting on stage and dancing with the DJs and such which was very fun. we even brought a SickDamage tshirt to give out, which we immediately lost somewhere.

i don’t know how, but i somehow made it back to my home at around 7:50am. when waking up miserably hung over the next morning, i noticed i had this 5 inch bloody cut down my shin. i have no idea how i got this wound but it hurt like a beeyatch.

after dealing with the cut on my leg, i check my pockets. i found my wallet, a few photographer contact cards, and a freaking open container fine ticket for the amount of $25.00…

it just so happens that we were almost arrested last night for having drinks outside of the club or something. it’s funny how i remember none of this. and to top it off, i’ve been spending all day sick and vomitting. atleast i know it was an awesome time. that’s what counts. thanks again to The Grenade and VIKING for making it an awesome night.

Next saturday (the 15th), Eurotrash will be presenting us with AC Slater. I, for one, can’t wait to see the king of bass down here on our shores and I’m sure my enthusiasm is shared.
