It’s so dramatic! And ridiculous! All the time! I hope real life isn’t like this. Anyway. Lowdown of today.

My friend K and I are both SUPER excited for the Christmas season, and everyone else thinks we’re so cute for it, but they aren’t really into it. But I’m glad I at least have one friend who is.

I also got my nails redone, they’re snowflakey now and b e a u tiful.

Uhm, I don’t think anything that exciting happened today. I figured out what song I’m going to sing for the talent showcase, and that’s kind of it.

Oh. And update on S drama: We’re both just kind of acting stand-offish and awkward. It’s SO pleasant. Ugh. He’s just annoying. Like seriously? When the entire class is cracking up at a funny story I’m telling, don’t glare at me. Fake it. BLEH!

OH AND AND AND! I talked to my (sort of) friend J about teching the musical. I really want to, and A is helping me get a spot. She’s the coolest.

Pete Doherty was booed off stage in Munich for singing :

“Deutschland, Deutschland über alles.”

That sh*t doesn’t go down well in Germany anymore and Crackerty was asked to leave the stage after 5 songs by an official. He threw his microphone at her and a radio broadcast of his performance was cancelled.

“The national anthem has been used since 1922 but its first verse – with the refrain “Deutschland, Deutschland ueber alles” – was dropped after World War Two due its Nazi overtones.
Since 1952, the third stanza has been used – ‘Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit’ or ‘unity and justice and freedom’.” [Tonight]

There’s nothing Evie likes more than singing songs. If you notice a common theme among her videos, it’s that they tend to be at the table. That’s because we make her sing for her supper. No, actually, I don’t know why she likes to sing at eating time, but that just happens to be when the mood usually takes her. Over Thanksgiving, some of the relatives got treated to the dinner theater we usually deal with.

First up, Rockin in the free world by Neil Young:

My favorite part is when she “messes up” in the beginning.

Yes, that song contains such fantastic toddler lyrics as, “Don’t feel like Satan, but I am to them” and “she puts the kid away and she’s gone to get a hit”, but don’t worry: the next video will prove that she has no idea what words she is singing. And besides, she self edited that line to “she’s gone to get ahead”.

Hakuna Matata from the Lion King:

My greatest joy of late is the area wide singing that took place at the Montana Street congregation yesterday (November 29, 2009). We had approximately 162 members of the church show up from all areas of El Paso, despite rainy conditions. The song service was in both Spanish and English. Refreshments were served after the service.

Thoroughly enjoyed getting acquainted with members I had never met, and talking to members that I hadn’t seen in quite a while. Definitely an inspiring and faith-building event enjoyed by all!

Welcome to Plan C: The Blog.

Let me explain a few things.

I am a classical singer who specializes in new and contemporary music. After winning a big competition about a year and a half ago, I’ve spent a large amount of time, money, and effort trying to get someone in the opera world to pay attention to me.

In other words, I’ve been trying to sell out.

No one’s buying.

No interest, no gigs, nothing. No one cares.

So I’ve been rethinking things. When I started doing this, I made a couple of plans. Plan A was “Become a famous opera singer”.

Plan B was, “If you fail to become a famous opera singer, get more academic qualifications and teach privately full-time”.

But I never stopped to think, “Is either of these things really what I want?”

The answer is, “Not really.” So it’s time for Plan C. Plans A and B were both answers to the question, “What CAN I do?” Plan C is the answer to the question, “What do I WANT to do?”

In other words: Instead of continuing to bang my head against the gate and drain my resources trying to bribe the gatekeeper, I’m going to take another path. I’m going to break down the wall.

So of course I don’t quite know what that is/means yet. But this is the place where I intend to find out, to work out my ideas, to post works in progress.

Oh, and just so we’re clear, the “secession” I’m referring to in the tagline is the Viennese art movement of the late 19th century, not the Confederacy.

One of the cutest songs I’ve ever heard, the ukelele just makes it that much better.  I found this a couple months ago but never got to posting it here.  I can’t stop listening to this again!  I looooove this!  So freakin’ cute!

I absolutely LOVE their version of this song.  It seriously blows my mind that all these youtube people are friends.  I am soooo jealous because I would love to do this all day, every day!  They have got some serious talent.  Check them all out.  There are links to their own personal channels on the video!

STARTING Monday November 30th:

We are upgrading to a new, larger facility which will be a better home for all of our programs! The studios will be larger and there will be more space for rehearsals, for classes and for parents of Kindermusik students to roll across the floor!

The best part is that the move is JUST ACROSS THE STREET!

Located at 10 Miller Avenue, Long Shoals turns into Miller Ave when you cross Hendersonville Road. It is on the left hand side of the street across from the Skyland Fire Department.

If you were sitting at the traffic light (having come from I-26) at Long Shoals Rd. and Hendersonville Rd, you would take a left onto Hendersonville Rd to get to the CURRENT location at Summit Ave.

Instead of turning left at that light, go STRAIGHT THROUGH the light and the NEW Arts Center- South will be on your left hand side, directly across from the Fire Station. We have a BLUE AWNING, and parking right up against the building!

Young Dro Shows The Singing Skills

My greatest joy of late is rediscovering the powerful teaching and encouragement derived from Christ’s assembly singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Thank you, Lord, for the gift of song!

I went with my sister and 3 of my brothers, Ali, Naif, Yousef.

we went for a ride around the city, it is a military city, and there nothing interesting we got bored quickly, so I decided to sing a song, a very funny song, I started with my song and my sound became loud and annoying to my brothers and sister

so they tried to stop me from singing by beating or by disturbing me by pressing strongly my nose by their fingers.

I stopped after my nose become red in color, then I said let`s go back to home, we can`t make it fun without our parent, by the way they went to Makkah City and they will return tomorrow .

As all of you know, I am into singing. I have started singing since 2007 and I have really improved so much now. Everytime I hear someone say”OMG Angeru, your singing has improved so much” I get a little tear in my eye

That is why I’m gonna try and make my fangirls (and fanboys if theres any XD) happy by improving my singing.

I don’t know what singing range I am but i have surely improved since 2007

Firstly let me start by saying how much I love the fact that I live in a country with 11 official language…and how much I love going to a church that realises that and attempts to worship in different languages!

Ronel led worship this morning – was cool having the evening guys leading in the morning service…well, i thought it was cool. Morning service crowd has quite a different vibe from the evening service crowd so it’s very cool for me whenever we do stuff in the morning or when the morning service people visit the evening service.

Speaking of different people doing stuff together, Chris (the pastor) spoke on the church of Acts (chapter 2) in his series of church being community. He talked on unity in diversity…so basically people who are different coming together as one. The term used in the old testament for the trinity is also the term used in the whole the man shall leave his mother and cleave to his wife and the two shall become one…how cool is that. As the church that is the picture we are supposed to present…different people from different backrounds/ethinicities/tribes/tongues/etc coming together to praise and worship him in our togetherness…living together, sharing together, praying together, showing the world real unity/peace/love…

The vineyard church is very big on the theme of “everyone gets to play”…basically, we have pastors and leaders and etc but everyone is gifted in some way and everyone has a role to play in the church…the pastor has his part and each congregant has their part…if one person doesn’t do his part, we all hurt as the church.

Chris also touched on the church of acts vs the church in Paul’s letters. He talked about how the church in Acts was how it was the intended model (Acts 2: 42ff) and the church in Paul’s letters was the remedial model…the one that God allows because we live in a falled world and get things wrong and etc…and there’s a place for both…but sometimes we get so comfortable and dependent on the remedy that we can’t get back to normal…let’s leave the remedy and get back to health…to realising that church is not the building…we are the church…we are all part of the priesthood…we all have a part to play.

Evening

For the evening service we had planned to go to the beach and have a jam sesion picnic there but the wind forced us to change our plans. We ended up going to play bingo at a local pub/bar/place and then after that we went to Brett and Val’s place and had game night with crumpets…and lots and lots of laughs…

Sexy Brazilian Mini-Skirt Wearing College Student Geisy Arruda

Brazilian college girl,Geisy Arruda, expelled from school,… reinstated for wearing skimpy clothes to class,has become an international sensation in less than two months.

Who ever said …’’sex sells”…sure knew what he/she was talking about!!! 

Geisy Arruda,20, after being harassed by fellow students , was expelled from Uniban, the private university where she is studying tourism, accused of wearing a dress that was too short and sporting a provocative attitude. 

 She had to be readmitted later .

The AP reports…”There are hundreds of girls wearing miniskirts on this campus every day, and nothing has ever happened,” Vice Dean Ellis Brown said at a news conference held earlier this month. “The size of the dress was never discussed — her behavior was.”

Arruda has vehemently denied acting provocatively, telling the private Agencia Estado news agency: “It’s a big lie that I raised the dress.”

In reversing the decision to expel Arruda, Brown said the school was opting for educational rather than disciplinary action.

Although Brazil is known for revealing clothing — especially in beach cities, where one popular style of bikini is so skimpy that it’s called “dental floss” — most college students dress more modestly on campus, commonly in jeans and T-shirts.

“It will be a dream come true for me,” Arruda said just before giving a deposition to police who are investigating whether crimes were committed when a crowd of students harassed her on Oct. 22 at the University Bandeirante in Sao Bernardo do Campo, just outside Sao Paulo.

She will parade for the Leandro de Itaquera samba school in Sao Paulo and the Porto da Pedra school in Rio. The Rio and Sao Paulo parades are broadcast live in February throughout the nation of more than 190 million people.

“Sometimes, good things come from bad things,” she said.

Carnival features nearly nude dancers in elaborate feathered costumes, and Arruda said she plans to wear another short outfit when she parades atop a float in Rio.

Playboy Editor Edson Aran said that the young lady complies with the requisites to be front page of the magazine. “To have your photos in Playboy,” Aran explained, “a woman not only has to be beautiful but have notoriety, which is the case of Geisy.”

Geisy answered Playboy with this thought…”I don’t have anything against it, but I think I would not do a photo essay. This a matter of personal choice.”

She left clear, however, that she was not shutting down definitively the door on such a possibility.

 There might be mitigating circumstances she admitted: “Since I’m unemployed this might help. If I really need it, I will not be a hypocrite and say no.

We will be on the lookout for more of Geisy, as she rides her wave of mini skirt titillation all the way to the bank, as she extends her 15 minutes…

  The three sisters began singing in the C.C.I. High School Glee Club which turned into performances at high school concerts.
  Their talents were taken further when their director (Bessie Bracken) decided to take them on the road as a trio. From there, they played for radio and movie theatres.
  The sisters got together and sang once again at their family reunion in 1999 at the former fugitive slave settlement at North Buxton ON.

2009 Update:
Artis:  (now Artis Lane) went on to become a well known artist, and award-winning African American sculptor and painter. Her works were included on the sets of the “Cosby Show” (Bill Cosby’s hit television series in the 1980’s). There is plenty of information on her art online if you wish to read further. At age 21, Artis moved to Detroit and married.

After another unsuccessful audition yesterday, I spent all of today doing nothing. Nooooooothing. Nothing.

Literally, this is what I did today.
9 – Got up, made coffee and muffins. Moped.
11 – Recorded and edited my podcast.
12 – Grocery shopping. Grocery store resembles a zoo. Why, if I don’t have a traditional day job, do I always end up in the grocery store on weekends? Little old lady tries to get ahead of me in line. I defeat her the Canadian way: by pointedly ignoring her and standing very very close to the cart ahead of me.
1 – Had lunch. Moped.
1:30 – 3 – Read old comment threads on blogs I like.
3 – 5 – Attempted to install Unetbootin on my eee so I could create a bootable usb drive on it.
5 – Fed dogs.
5 – 6 – Gave up on eee, attempted to make bootable usb on the Mac again.
6 – Gave up. Tried to boot eee again and realized I’d messed up something vital once more and it’s having seizures.
6 -7 – Moped.
7 – 8 – Bath. Moped while in the bath.
8 – Restored eee to factory settings. Started blogging….

And here we are. I was going to say that for having done nothing all day I certainly don’t feel very relaxed, but looking back on it I actually did a bunch of frustrating stuff. True, I didn’t accomplish anything, other than buying potatoes and dried beans, but I was certainly doing stuff for at least 25% of the day.

I feel vaguely out of sorts, a bit stuffy, a bit achy in the shoulders, a bit dissatisfied with my lot in life. Is this what it’s like to have a real job where you do pointless and frustrating things on a computer all day while wishing for things that are just out of reach?

If it is, I certainly understand why people get depression and headaches and lower back pain. The symptoms of life my ass. Maybe we should call them “the symptoms of a wasted life”. Seems more accurate.

As a gift I give you a dictionary.

In this episode:
- Socialism? Really?
- The one thing I have in common with Glen Beck: I love America, and I fear for her, because something is *not* connecting here.
- That is not socialism. That is Gilded Age robber baron capitalism with some protection for the proletariat. That’s why things are the way they are.
- Yet another failed audition: I had to watch a Muppet movie last night to get over it.
- I withdraw from the competition – the rest of the sopranos who are just as good as me can fight over small roles from minor opera companies.
