So my friend’s new boy toy got me thinkin…..

He’s a junior, he’s attractve, he was in the military, he’s drivin, and he SINGS!!!!!!!! HE SINGS!!! (and well!!!!)

Is it wrong that I’m attracted to him? I mean I’m only human right? It’s not like I want to be with him but is it wrong that I’m slightly jealous of the aCe just because she is available to talk to him?

Don’t get me wrong……I love my fiance with all of my being but a part of me still wonders what life would be like with someone else…….or even alone for that matter.

But then he reminds me why no one else in this world could make me smile the way that he does;

how no one in this lifetime will put me at peace the way that he does;

and how in no one else’s arms will I feel as secure and loved.

No one will ever love me the way he does

and I’m happy with that!!

Wow, I feel soooo great!!! I had the most delightful birthday (Nov 17th) with my mom and my closest friends, with loving birthday wishes (Dumbledore even made an appearance courtesy of Dão!!) from family & friends here and abroad. Thank you all so much for thinking of me on the day my New Year started!

And now I’ve been working on 5 songs, different producers, different vibes, yet all very close to my spirit. There is so much love around and inside of me, it’s like watching and creating a dance.. It’s all coming together and it makes me so happy!!

But last night I also made some actual, factual, tangible moves at my friend Irina’s birthday bash. I ended up getting salsa dancing pointers from Jef the salsa pro… So much fun! I’m thinking I’ll have to join them on Thursdays shakin it, just my kind of thing!

Tomorrow I’m starting my new part time temp office job, exactly what I need right now to juggle the Passion and my rent.. I’ve been meeting up with people online and offline about my music, these are exciting times for me! There is so much magic in the mundane if you only open yourself up to see it! So I’m trying to pour those sparks into my songs every free second I get.

I’m all wrapped up and cosy inside my songwriting cocoon right now (as I only work Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays I get the majority of the week to write songs and be poor… lol).
Al Mar amazed me, once again, with beats so hot I want to fling myself out the window and hope to fly. But instead, I’ll write some melodies and words to emulate that flying wish.

Also, I got in touch with Eric Roberson and his band last week on a singer songwriter workshop which was incredibly inspiring. The name of the band is Tito’s Turn and their energy is amazing! It was a two day event, the day after the workshop they killed it at a private show. I’ll be keeping in touch with some of the band members and I feel like I’ve gained some friends. And who knows what we could do in the future..? I’ll keep you updated! ;o)

But, the most important reason for this blog entry is that my close friend Gracielle Uda made some artwork inspired by the poem See Through
I posted recently. I felt the urge to write some poetry and decided to get on my blog and write it in realtime, which I did. I just started typing and posted it. After I read my poem I knew the best artist to grace it was Gracielle (yes, yes… pun definitely intended). So I called her and asked her if she’d be up for it. She read my poem and loved it. And now I am very very excited to present her lovely artwork on my blog and hopefully, this will be the first of many.

Huntington Beach is known for its lush scenery, as well as, the laid back demeanor of its residents, but in one fell swoop, that entire image has been ruined. At least for fans of one of America’s most celebrated public figures.

Several members of a Huntington Beach activist group is lobbying to remove  one of Maya Angelou’s most famous literary works, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” after having deemed it as being  inappropriate for elementary and middle school aged children.

In an effort to convey the method behind their madness, several members of the group descended upon a city council meeting for the city, choosing to read some of the title’s more grizzly portions to all in attendance.

“I’m not happy to read this, I’m not proud to read this,” said Judy Ahren, a resident of Huntington Beach, to local media. “It’s very uncomfortable to read it, but for the sake of our kids we have to do things that aren’t comfortable for the sake of our kids.”

According to the superintendent of Ocean View School District, the book has been submitted for review.

It has only been checked out five times in the past two years.

I know it is the job of parents to be concerned for the safety and well being of their children, but seriously, is this really what their collective “anger” should be used on? With rampant violence, drug/alcohol abuse, and a myriad of social problems plaguing America’s public education system, is this REALLY what they should be worried about? I bet their children have seen more “interesting” images during an early evening HBO session. Porn is a multi-billion dollar industry that, whether these concerned parents want to admit or not, more than likely has their children proverbially gripped by their tiny throats by now. Yet, they choose to focus on a book that was meant to inspire by offering a tale of perseverance???

Village of the Giants is a 1965 science-fiction/comedy movie with many elements of the beach party film genre. It was produced, directed and written by Bert I. Gordon, and based loosely on H.G. Wells’s book The Food of the Gods. The story revolves mostly around a chemical substance called “Goo”, which causes giant growth in living things, and what happens after a gang of rebellious youngsters get their hands on it. The cast was mostly teens, or young actors playing teens, and The Beau Brummels and Freddy Cannon make musical guest appearances. The movie was a low-budget exploitation film and not a huge hit (released mostly to drive-ins as part of a double bill), but had some notable use of special effects and undoubted sex appeal, and went on to become a cult classic. The movie proved far more successful years later, when released on home video.

• In one scene one of the giants reads an issue of “Famous Monsters of Filmland” with another Bert I. Gordon film, War of the Colossal Beast (1958), in the cover.
• Exteriors were shot on the Columbia Studios backlot (now part of the Warner Bros. Backlot), the same lot as the exteriors for the TV series “Bewitched” (1964) and “I Dream of Jeannie” (1965). Many scenes were shot on Courthouse Square at Universal Studios, which doubled as Hill Valley in Back to the Future (1985).

• Loosely based on the H.G. Wells story “The Food of the Gods”, about a substance that causes giant mutations in growing organisms. Children fed the substance become giants (capable of producing giant offspring), who choose to fight when their existence is threatened by adult authorities.
• The brand of chicken that the giant teenagers eat is a tie-in to the once-famous restaurant chain called Chicken Delight. The chain was known for home delivery of chicken and ribs, as well as it’s catchy motto: “Don’t cook tonight, call Chicken Delight.” A banner for the restaurant chain can be seen on a wall behind the adults who turn in their rifles.
• The beer that the delinquent teens drink after crashing their car is the once popular Blatz Beer.
• The fountain that Freddy Cannon sings in front of is the same one seen in the opening of “Friends” (1994).
• An alternate version of the theme music – “The Last Race” – was reused by Quentin Tarantino in Death Proof (2007).
• The “Teen Magazine” that Merrie (Joy Harmon) reads was an actual issue of the magazine published in July 1965.

Everyone from the mainstream media to the blogs are talking about it. He is getting a lot of accolades from some traditionally nasty places. The Canadians are just thrilled with their conservative prime minister. He’s an economist, so he knows how to run the country. I wish he was my President! When you look at the jobs lost during the current recession, it’s quite clear that we are doomed.

I’m sick.. This flu is hardcore (yes it’s the same one I had a couple of weeks ago, it travelled down to my lungs and has been having a feverishly rowdy party there all week), it won’t let go, I haven’t been able to sing in weeks and I’m sad.
