Saw these guys at B.B. Kings in NYC along with Raekwon, Kid Cudi, Jadakiss, and Styles P. Defs the highlight of the show…more so than Raekwon. Who despite being super sick and barely being able to speak, showed up anyways, and called himself a “real nigga” ’cause of that. Yes. Yes. Too bad it was a super disappointing performance of under 60 minutes. Oh well. Curren$y and Wiz TORE SHIT UP! Along with Jada and Styles P. Shit. All for twelve pieces. Thank you OnSmash and NahRight. You guys fuckin’ rule.

02 Drake – Best I Ever Had

Y’all know my obsession for Drake. Seriously if his mixtapes So Far Gone and Property of October didn’t already leave you completely satisfied, as well as the “Forever” track featuring Eminem, Lil’ Wayne, and Kanye, well, you need to get your priorities straight! This boy is seriously blowing up! Not even an album and already he’s got a Grammy nomination. Watch out for some crazy Drake mania in the two zero one oh. This is his best song. Hands down.

03 Spank Rock – Loose

Off the Bangers and Cash EP. So dirty it’s right. COP IT NOW!

04 Trouble Andrew ft. Diplo – Run, Hide

Not the biggest fan of Trouble Andrews, but this song is pretty sick.

05 Modeselektor ft. TTC – 2000007

Aaaaah my favorite German electronic artists. WHy oh WHYYY aren’t they more well known. It makes me angry. Yet at the same time I’m happy that I have them all to myself…well and a few others. They’ve already released two albums, Happy Birthday and Hello Mom which are ridiculously amazing and seriously unrecognized. They are amazing live. I can’t wait to hear a new album, which is hopefully in the works?

06 Moderat – A New Error

Modeselektor + Apparat. In case you didn’t know. Two huge German powerhouse electronic artists come together and made easily one of the best albums this year, self-titled Moderat. Electronic music, though rising, is continually under-represented! Errrrrbody is all up Indie’s ass with the St. Vincent, Dirty Projectors, and Animal Collective. Sure these albums are great (they really are). But electronic music in the decades and end of year lists are seriously on the back burner. Shit. Moderat is easily in the tops in the decade and end of year for me.

07 Paskal – Sweet Settings (Original Mix)

Yet another German electronic artist. This is pretty much all I know. I can’t find an ounce of info on the guy that’s not in German! Bah! Mais, on s’en fiche! I don’t know if he will have an album coming out soon but DO DO DO cop the Sweet Settings record. Fantastic smooth house in just six minutes. Awesome.

08 Siriusmo – Nights Off

Another German powerhouse DJ. I swear I don’t do racial profiling when I look for music! Somehow everything I end up liking a lot ends up being German…or British jaja. En tout cas, Siriusmo is from Berlin and is signed to BoyzNoise Records. He has a bunch of records out but I only started listening to him after hearing Body Language Vol.8 which was mixed by MODESELEKTOR! GAAH! If you’re a fan of Kompakt releases, the Kitsuné releases…and so forth, get Body Language releases now!!! It is a compilation released by Get Physical, a wicked wicked label housing artists such as M.A.N.D.Y., Noze, and Booka Shade. The BL’s and Siriusmo’s albums are all you’re gonna get from him because he won’t perform live. Apparently due to conflicting interests. Hmm. Fun fact: he is a pretty great graffiti artist. Respek.

09 TMDP – Running

Hoooorah! Torontonians Jeffrey Addison and Gavin Rough a.k.a. TMDP make some pretty smooth synth filled nu disco house music. They only have one album, TMDP, which was released this year. It is awesome. In under just 60 minutes you feel as if you were just in a modern day rave-esque Studio 54. The album is filled with smart beats and flows from one track to another like water. Fun fact: TMDP doesn’t actually stand for anything. The band name was created by putting together aurally aesthetic sounding letters. Cool.

10 Steve Angello and Eric Prydz – Woz Not Woz (Norman Doray & Arno Cost Remix)

The original song was released many many many a years ago. Like 2004. But this is a timeless classic and continually get’s remixed all the time. This Doray and Cost remix popped up a few months ago on the BBC. TURN IT UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP! Effin. Sick.

16 Vitalic – Second Lives

Vitalic a.k.a. Pascal Arbez is a French electronic artist. He made it BIG in the underground musicsphere with his release of Ok Cowboy back in 2005. Remember “My Friend Dario”, “La Rock”, and “Polkamatic”? Songs that weren’t even 3 minutes long but hit you so hard like a victim standing shamelessly in front of a F1 racecar. After that, we just lay there, waiting and waiting for something else to fall hard to. Four years later and well, he’s done it again people! Unfailing in his attempts to make our bodies sweat, he released the Disco Terminateur EP this year as well as his LP Flashmob. IMO Flashmob is a huuuuuge artistic improvement from OK Cowboy. It’s less noisy and experimentally more sound. I’ve decided to share one of my favorites “Second Lives” in this mixtape…but PLEASE GET THE ALBUM! It is awesome. If this song doesn’t convince you, check out “Still” and “Your Disco Song”. TURN IT UP!

No words can describe how STOKED I am for the upcoming Massive Attack’s Heligoland to be released next year. Splitting the Atom EP was released late this year. It is a short taste of what’s to come and I think it’s pretty sweet. I must admit it’s defs not along the lines of Blue Lines or Mezzanine but it’s freakin’ MASSIVE ATTACK! It will be awesome regardless. This is one of my favorite songs of MA. Enjoy!

21 Craig Armstrong ft. Elzabeth Fraser – This Love

I revisited the Cruel Intentions OST a few months ago and it amazes me that it took me this long to come back to it. Suuuuch a good OST and this is my favorite song on there. Yup, even more than the Blur appearance. Craig Armstrong is kinda no big deal. He’s a musical composer and has worked with Massive Attack, Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, and the Future Sound of London (holy shit). He’s got a Grammy AND a Golden Globe. Totally not surprising.

Just nu är kanadensiska Chromeo ute på sin DJ Kicks Tour. Och på torsdag (26/11) kommer de till Stockholm för en spelning på Marie Laveau. Senast duon släppte en skiva var 2007 då fantastiska Fancy Footwork släpptes. Nu är det snart dags igen och vi är oerhört taggad inför vad Night by Night kan bjuda på. Av titelspåret att döma kan det inte bli annat bra.

Denna måndag tänkte vi höja peppen inför både skivsläpp och spelning med tre spår, alla remixer på den oerhört funkälskande duon. Det blir discosväng i Siriusmos remix av Night by Night, en grym remix på Bonafied Lovin’ av finska mästaren Jori Hulkkonen och slutligen Etienne de Crecys electroremix på Tenderoni. Allt för ert höga nöjes skull.

Chromeo did it again

In 2004 Needy Girl came out. The funky sound was completly new to me but yet so… so awesomely great. After that Chromeo has always had a special place in my heart.

The group (David Macklovitch and Patrick Gemayel) comes from Montreal, Canada and was formed 2002. Influnced by eighties disco and sententies funk they released the album She’s In Control in 2004. After great reviews and even videos on MTV it took them three years to create their next masterpiece, Fancy Footwork. This album was remixed by big names such as Etienne de Crezy, Laidback Luke and MSTRKRFT. Not to mention the king Philippe Zdar, the man behind the french artist Cassius, who made a great job mixing the album.

So now, 2009, Chromeo releases Night By Night with remixes by Skream and Siriusmo. Funny thing is that the original mix will work great on a dancefloor, Siriusmo remix you can drink a few beers to and Skream’s is a real laid back track for, say, relaxation…

The first single off Chromeo’s third LP just released. I’m not a huge fan of their sophomore album but this one seems promising. Night by Night owes its catchy vibe to an “eye of the tiger” rif reminiscent of Rocky III. Check it out after the jump.

I have been listening to the new Body Language Mix by Germany´s Modeselektor quite a bit these last few weeks. It´s a compelling mix of techno, dub step, house and indie rock seamlessly put together by what is one of the greatest dj duos out there. I present a few of the highlights from the mix, but frankly they all sound better within the confines of the mix. So do yourself a favor a buy the mix HERE.

Siriusmo - Berlin

Siriusmo aka Moritz Friedrich hails from Berlin, Germany and is a part of MONKEYTOWN RECORDS. I first heard of him via the Bag Raiders Shooting Stars EP (which was not soon enough). Siriusmo, Cassian, and In Flagranti all remixed the Bag Raiders song ‘Shooting Stars‘, and all of the remixes hold their own, but Siriusmo’s definitely stood out to me.

And he’s got plenty of other tracks/remixes/whatever out there to boot, including tracks on his myspace like: ‘High Together’, ‘the uninvited guest’, and ‘DISKODING snippets’ + about a billion other videos on youtube.

If all these songs haven’t convinced you to give him a serious look than this might: He’s worked with Modeselektor – hell yes! So yeah, check out Siriusmo on beatport/hypemachine/myspace/youtube/wherever!

Совсем скоро я начну исполнять свои обещания, любопытные, наверно, даже следят за кое-какими изменениями. Работаю над этим, а пока быстро пробегусь по трекам, которые стоит отметить.
Очень красивая диско-песня замечательной группы Saint Etienne. Боевик в стиле 80-х от Chromeo, Тига был бы доволен – настоящие восьмидесятые. Жесткий балтимор от, чувствуется еще пока, что новичков Last Japan, стоит за ними следить, оригинальные их треки дают жару. Мой любимчик Siriusmo не перестает радовать, как писал Эрол Алкан в своем твиттере: “Давайте уже напакостим Siriusmo, каждый его трек волшебство, надо его дискредитировать, мы на его фоне кажемся тусклыми”.

On ne sait pas grand chose sur Monkeytown Records si ce n’est que c’est le 1er label crée par les 2 mecs derrière Modeselektor. On imagine que leurs prochains releases seront sur cette étiquette.

En attendant, c’est Siriusmo qui a eu l’honneur d’ouvrir le bal avec le 1er maxi du label, un disque qui a pour nom The Uninvited Guest. C’est parfait, car on se retrouve en terrain connu: Des grosses bass, un fucking beat pesant qui décoiffe et qui rappelle bizarrement l’excellent Happy Birthday des MasterSelektor.

Whatever. Au diable les comparaisons et/ou les ressemblances. C’est vraiment un excellent EP.
