Matt Jamison threw a link up on his site to an article about plans to make a park in Coshocton. It sounds like the city is going about things in a positive way and in the right way by getting a skater to help design and help round up skaters to see what they want.

As always, if you live around the area and have some disposable income, donate to help fund the park. The more money raised, the more stuff you can have in the park.

Clinics for skaters 12 and under will be held November 14 and December 5

Santa Clarita skaters, 12 years of age and under, are invited to head out to the City’s Sports Complex Skate Park for free Junior Skate Clinics. The Clinics will be offered from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., and again from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on November 14 and Saturday, December 5. Young skaters can come on down to the Junior Skate Clinics to learn proper safety techniques, skate park etiquette and tips on how to ride the new 40,000 square foot skate park.

Time to leave NYC and start heading west. The var (half car half van) is PACKED with bags and 5 brave souls: Abby from Alaska, Rob G from San Jose, Tien and Emma from Australia, and yours truly from New York. We chose the magical traffic hour of 5pm on a Friday to start our journey. First stop, Pittsburgh PA.

What up people!

Yesterday at Centennial skate park in Santa Ana, CA was pretty chill, but then awesome! We took product and giveaways there, but just wasn’t feeling it to have a bunch of games of skate and the other event stuff we usually do. So we gave away some hats and shirts and these skate promo DVD’s we have to a bunch of the kids. And all the kids that bought stuff yesterday got killer deals; more than usually cuz we’re trying to get rid of product, so enjoy yourselves fellas!!!

Before we left though, Victor put on the Best Trick off the 7 Stair. I am so glad that we stayed and did this cuz they guys were killin it!!! You got little homes like Brian & Vinnie busting out (Brian had 7 or 8 tricks in a row off the rail over the hubba, etc) up to the older guys like JC and Kevin. It lasted for about a good 20 minutes and thank god we met Josh there cuz he was already taking pics of other stuff. Here are some of the shots Josh grabbed for us yesterday. these are all of them, just the couple he sent real quick.

On the way back home from centennial, Rob and I (nick) were just talking about how much we love going to centennial and puttin on stuff there. Everyone’s real kick-back, you guys are always supporting us whether  it’s  sporting the free T’s or stickers we give or, buying our product to help us out or even just telling people about us, but best of all, anytime we want to put on a little quick game of something, we never got to beg cuz there’s always a pack of skaters willing to put their best truck forward without question to show what they got (and you guys got it!).  I don’t think in a millions years, we could ever ask for a better skate park and skaters than all you guys at Centennial!!!

Most Rutland residents have see the Ben Lee Skateboard from a distance but have never seen it up close, let alone had the chance to ride it. The truth is, we’ve got one of the best skateboard parks around these parts right here in Rutland so I’ve dusted off my skateboard after about 10 years to take you on a little ride around.

Stop by the park if If you want to see how it’s really done; the kids are friendly and they would love to show you their stuff.

Dare County is planning a new 11-acre park in Kitty Hawk. 

A county posting is seeking architectural and engineering services for the park which is planned for a parcel of land across from the town Fire Department on Kitty Hawk Road. 

As planned, the park will be adjacent to Kitty Hawk Woods and consist of:

• 1,800 foot walking trail with markers and benches
• Dog park
• Picnic area
• Skate park
• Play ground
• Double tennis court
• Basketball court

This would be a great addition to the area.  Applications will be opened October 30^th in Manteo.

Saturday, October 24th was a beautiful day for skateboarding and honoring the memory of Johnny Romano. More than 1500 people showed up to the Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark to take in a day of amazing pro skateboarding. $20,000 was raised for the Johnny Kicks Cancer Foundation and 22 blood donations (which saves 66 lives) were collected by the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.

Some of the pro skaters that were out at the park that day included Pierre Luc Gagnon, Omar Hassan, Kevin Kowalski, Pedro Barros, Tim Johnson, Sergie Ventura, Bryan Pennington, Lester Kasai, Tony Magnusson, Jim Gray, Craig Johnson, Chris Gentry, Sky Seljig, Chris Russel and some of the women included Priscilla Lee, Carabeth Burnside, Mimi Knoop, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins and Lizzie Armanto. Local skater, Ben Raybourn showed up but because he broke his arm at the Rumble In Ramona, he was unable to skate.

This year also included live music from Blackholicus, Los Skarnales and McRad.

Friday night saw a lot more pros out at the skatepark practicing for Saturday’s Rock The Cradle For Johnny Romano.

Since I had to work, I missed a lot of the action that happened that day, but was glad I caught the evening sessions which included Dave Duncan, Jimmy “The Greek” Marcus, Craig Johnson and Omar Hassan!

Features a number of pros and Columbus locals.

Back online after many days!!  Yes, you had to wait for this post, but you’ll deal with it – all like two of you who read this (thank you!).  A lot has happened since my last post.  Seriously.  For me it’s been all kinds of ferocious lows mixed with some of the most beautiful places in the world, which creates it’s own strange energy.  The predominant feeling was that of anger towards what is beautiful, magnificent and splendorous.  But, I love it just the same.  Those photos will come in the next post, since I still need to upload and edit the photographs from yesterday.

So, what I wish right now is that I had my skateboard with me.  I haven’t been on it in years, but Barcelona SCREAMS skateboard.  Really, I can’t imagine a better city for just general skating around, and I mean everywhere.  It’s perfect.  Also, I ran across a nice little street-skate park with a bunch of very friendly skater types.  Skaters are one of the few groups I can think of that just don’t mind you shooting them, and don’t change how they are or their expression just because they have a camera pointed at them.  Awesome.  I didn’t shoot too many photos at the park the other day but I’ll probably go back and shoot some more.  It was the end of a long day of walking on and around Montjuic, which is a mountainside with parks and such where you can overlook the city and the ocean and port.  The weather was iffy, but what can you do?  We’ll get to that… right now!

The day before yesterday we experienced a Barcelona flood.  It was raining like crazy when me and a couple friends went to a nearby cafe to get a cup of joe, or cafe con leche, which is what we Americans call a latte.  Basically it’s espresso and milk.  Good stuff.  1 Euro!  Can’t beat that.  When was the last time you could get a fresh latte for $1.50?  Didn’t think so.  If you can pay $1.50 for a fresh latte and feed 2 people a nutritious meal for about $3.00  (doing the euro conversion for you) how exactly is that system so inferior to the American one?   Just asking.  The food is CHEAP  and from the farm fresh, if you want that.  And, of course I do.  Eating out can be a little expensive, but if you go to the right places, not prohibitively so.    In Barcelona there are no Wal-Marts, necessitating extra chemical preservation techniques that are poisoning our food.  There are of course, places to get that food, but there are way more fresh markets than anything else.  There are mom and pop shops everywhere, that you can walk around the corner and get that loaf of bread for a dollar that was fresh baked this morning.  There are no breads like in Brookshire’s, where when you get home you find the entire bottom is moldy. 

Oh yes, the flood.  So, a couple friends and I are at a cafe around the corner.  The rain started coming down like you just rarely, rarely see.  Just pouring and pouring and pouring and not stopping, which is the reason we were chillin’ inside.  And then, all at once, the sewers reached full and the street was all at once turned into a raging river just outside the door.  It got deeper and deeper and deeper and then not only filled the street but then rose above door level and began to inundate the cafe.  Of course we are yelling “it’s Katrina! Run for your lives!  The angry one is back!!”  We had a great laugh about it with the shopkeeper / owner.  He is all trying to block the water from coming in the door and throws his hands up and turns to us and exclaims sarcastically “Viva la Espana!!”    Good stuff.  Now, every time we go back, they get a big smile and ask about the photography.

Later that night, a friend and I went to get the night view of Casa Batllo, one of Gaudi’s apartment buildings.  The place is otherworldly, as you can see!  This one is well lit at night, and that might be the best time to see it.  It sits along what I would call the Park Avenue of Barcelona.  It’s all very ritzy.  The street is lined with Armani shops and other extravagant stores of high fashion.  The window shopping, or in this case, window photos were awesome.  While there, we ran into “VICKY!!!” as she exclaimed throwing her arms wide.  Three times!  She spoke about as much English as I speak Spanish.   So that was amusing as she followed us around until I had to look her off as she grew increasingly creepy.  But, what am I thinking?  She’s “VICKY!!!” (arms spread wide).

Maybe you can find your own Vicky.   Good times!

Looks a little cramped but it still looks like it could be fun. I’d have to skate it to judge it. The left-hand side of the euro confuses me a little cause it looks like is on the joint of the slopes which would not allow for the best maneuverability.
As you can see, the design is by WhoSkates, the people who sent me this e-mail wanted Grindline to design it.
WhoSkates has apparently designed a park for Colerain, Ohio as well.

While the weather gets colder here in Ontario, and all of the shredders start thinking of snow, ShredEye has decided to skip the in between rainy dampness (brrr), and instead, catch some waves on the warm beaches of the Pacific Coast of Mexico! Check back soon for some surf shots from the beautiful west. In the meantime, check out a few random shots from this summer.
