Skint Nation aims to reduce the financial and social pressures of being a student by providing a valuable online portal in which students can benefit from resources on money saving techniques, student gossip/news and general aspects of student life.

With the increase in tuition fees in 2012, originally we set out to highlight the financial stresses student may face on entry to Higher Education.

However we realised that students weren’t just interested in the amount of money in their back pocket but other all the other aspects of a typical students’ life.

I am now an online journalist for Skint Nation in which I write articles about different topics including fashion, shopping, entertainment, etc. specifically for students. I feel this is a good experience because 1. It will improve my writing skills and 2. The website is specifically catered to students and as I am a student myself I can have a better feel with my articles as I can relate to my target audience.

I thought for my first piece I should target the entertainment area because I know most students generally download programs because they don’t have a TV in their dorm/room.
