Ridiculous update #10001

I get up early and buy a wireless router N so I can get my friend’s house set up for me to work in my area and not in his office area where he has staff and such.

I go to a famous Hamburger joint and have one for breakfast!

I walked there so I figured it was kinda OK.

I try to get my eyebrows and nails done but they are closed on Mondays and I walk back.

I have to wait for my friend to hook up the wireless router on his own time because he has a business and can’t just plug it in with his work in here. So that basically isn’t going to happen today.

I talk to Cordell Crockett who wants to give me a guitar lesson Tuesday (today) and in exchange I’m promoting Hear Kitty Kitty concert on Sunset this Thursday.

I decide to go shopping to best buy and look at cameras (Mouth of Moses took mine, took the hard drive and has threatened me with whatever is on it to expose it, which I don’t think is anything, but you never know with this asshole) and get a new GPS to replace that fucking thing too!

I decide my iPhone is just as good as what I need for now, I have 32 gigs and spent 300 and don’t really need to spend any more money.

I decide instead to make a nice dinner for my new roommate and I’ve already called my girlfriend (D) from the hotel and told her when she gets off work to come over since she doesn’t work tomorrow (today-Tuesday).

This is my text messages with my friend today (Monday). My sleeping pattern is the same as the hotel and from working these odd hours. So I’m trying to make this clear. I’m writing the text messages exactly as I have received them. I also make many calls in-between with her, but here is the gist.

Nov 16, 09 8:48 a.m.

U got out just in time. I walked down hall and stepped in toilet water. Entire place is so flooded coming from ur floor. People r mad.

That is crazy but they said they would give you my mail (I’m waiting for my picks and strings to come for my guitar because Cordell and I have a lesson on Tuesday).

K ill check it when I get back home from work.

The entire building is flooded. I hate to know what ur floor looks like. I bet ur room is flooded. I should take picture of my hall. U got out perfect timing.

ME: Uh oh

(D) Ask the guy who works here. I didn’t look at second floor. I just know whatever that man was mad about. Made its way down here in the hall one room over. I bet in ur room or close

I woke up and stepped in toilet water in the hall. At least that is what neighbor said.

Holy shit heather. I just took a walk to second floor. It looks like it came from ur room. I’m going back and taking pictures. Hang on. Gotta ask the guys. Did

D calls me and puts a maintenance man on that says that it was intentionally sabotaged in my room and that’s why it flooded. She’s freaking out, and he’s telling me I’m sorry, because he remembers me talking to him about my problem with someone bothering me.

6:12 p.m.

I just took pics of your room with my cell. U are going to die when u see this, or I’m fucking delusional.

Ok, the other maintenance guy said it happened in the other room. The same piping prob as what happened up stairs and asked why I was taking pics. I took them anyway.

U cannot imagine what this place looks like. Its bad.

I have such a bad vibe.

*I call her and tell her to come to me.

Oh my god I feel everything. Crazy shit. I,m grabbing stuff. Going to bank. Call u in minute.

She comes to my place and the pictures are insane, but I can’t get them off of her phone because she doesn’t have a plan. But I might be able to figure something out. I use to have a phone like that and I have to look in my stuff (too much stuff) for a wire that may get it transferred.

I look at it 3 ways.

Either

1) Intentional so it would look like me and make me responsible for the damage to cost me more money to sink me further…. or

2) It’s like an evil spirit movie and when I cleaned the room down perfect, left money for the house keeper, checked out making sure I didn’t owe anything else and said to the room as I walked out, “Goodbye Chapel Perilous” it was like evil collapsed on itself and that’s just a kind of cosmic visual.

3) The pipes broke after I happened to just move out Friday. No one had rented my room. Just a coincidence.

I like the one above because of the charity, but the one below reminds me of my night of  Yahoo IM with the VP of my old company, and we were having a good time. I wonder why those good times didn’t translate into communication and assistance when it should have been obvious from his perspective I was in big trouble?

My schedule is the same as in the hotel…so I sleep when my friend is awake and visa-versa. Anyway….I was having a nightmare…..I was being held down by an attacker and I knew there was people in ear shot, but no matter how hard I yelled, I couldn’t yell loud enough “Help Me” … so I would try again harder “Help Me” and I kept trying to make my voice louder but in my dream it sounded so meek and quiet… too quiet for anyone to hear my desperate pleas….

My friend and his dog were across the house in an office and they heard me and they woke me up….he said, “Heather, you are having a nightmare….wake up.” I look up at the dog looking at me and my friend. I said, “Was I screaming Help Me?” He said, “Yeah”.

We had a talk later, and he said, “I didn’t realize what you have been through, until I heard you screaming in your sleep. Now I understand.”

Money isn’t everything.

A shockingly awesome animation from Warcraft – a music video to Sky Is Over. My thoughts are any time music combines with motion of animation, and syncs really well, speaks volumes to the artists …. who most likely never even met each other. I have no idea if this had any collaboration, but it is a classic. Both artists stand on their own in having high standards.

I wrote to the creator of this animation video and she responded that the video is purely fan made and has nothing to do with Serj or Warcraft, neither they have any connection. She wrote: 

First of all with my gratitude, thanks for enjoying it, it means so much to me. Secondly Im a girl =P as in credit you can see I’m a member of Girl Gamers Club Vietnam. I simply just like the song and at the same time I also like Warcraft. I don’t make AMV to make the song fit with the scenes, I indeed make the scenes fit with the song. In brief, I liked the song and decided to make an AMV for it, then I started to look for games FMV that can describe my feeling about that song. Warcraft came to my mind, which Sky is Over is a great song about War and Loss (in my own feeling). I made it using Ulead Video Studio 11 and it was made for my friend’s bday (which was last December) and in case you are interested, in the video there is only 1 scene I took from Frozen Throne which I put it in purpose to see who can find it. Most of you are wayyyyyy hipper than I am. I am such a geek that I thought that Chop Suey song came out last summer when I arrived to LA and heard it on KROC, apparently the release was in the beginning of this decade….eye yi yi. In fact, I read that the song was taken off the radio on 9/11, because people were afraid that since the band was all Armenian, that the lyrics could have been misconstrued to be in support of the terrorists, and yet, everyone still says it was a set-up. We really are a confused country.

I discovered this after my break from work and I really loved it, but I didn’t know that this person was Serj and he was with SOAD (System of a Down) and I didn’t know that the music was about being politically active and work towards clean water, and so forth. In fact, I went on the board and was so excited about the album, I couldn’t figure out why nobody was discussing the deep and layered meanings to the songs, until a few weeks went by and I found out, OH, it was released 2 years ago……they are talking about the next project…..and boy, did I feel ….. old? No not old, just really really boring….out of touch, and must have spent way too many hours in my life working ….. with absolutely no balance – but then again, I was never with the trends, I was always by myself, in one way or another.

When I tripped the night fantastic onto the www.serjtankian.com website, I was stunned. It isn’t like those websites where you are catalogued and explained every last position in your detailed life. I had someone send me a website of the Tea Parties, I guess my website generates a “right wing radical conservative republican” feel to it. That has generated quite a bit of controversy and I don’t understand why we can not all discuss topics without being labeled, or argued on our points instead of on our appearances. I think reading the content is a good place to begin before engaging in canned opinions. I wrote back, um…..I hope you are not disappointed, but I’ve never seen this website, and I am not interested in it. I support the Tea Parties and people standing up for the laws of our country, but when I want to relax, I like websites that make me think, and that make me think there is something hidden behind every computer screen. Oh my gosh, I literally spent a couple weeks just on the front page (I mean each day I check on it, not fixated). First, it has to load, and he is looking at you with this graffiti behind him, and smoking…a spirit rebellious. I kept wanting to play my computers narrator because I was sure something was there, but I did, and I don’t think there was. Now the front page, holy cow….it is all in flash, and it took me weeks to see how if I clicked on different things I could see different parts of the picture that were not privies to at first glance. I literally spent two weeks on this. It took me that long just to click to go inside. I also found out to get to the private room, I needed a code. So I had to figure out where to buy the CD “Elect the Dead”. I couldn’t just buy it anywhere, because then I wouldn’t get the code. I found it of course on his site and I purchased it, but it took forever to get to me. Once I received it though, I was really happy with how good the packaging was. I felt like I received value for what I paid for the code and CD’s. Plus you are getting a glimps of some of the pictures on that site.

Toph is a blind Earthbending master of the Earth Kingdom, a race of people who can control and manipulate earth. She grew up in a wealthy and highly respected family but left it behind when she had agreed to teach Aang earthbending to help him fulfill his duty as the Avatar, and accompanies him on his quest to defeat the imperialistic Fire Nation and bring peace to the war-torn nations.

Despite her handicap, Toph has developed special skills that make her a very formidable Earthbender. Once, when she was very young, Toph ran away from home, seeking refuge in nearby caves. It was there she found companionship with the blind, earthbending Badgermoles that inhabited the caves. By imitating their movements, Toph came to harness her own earthbending abilities, becoming a master in her own right. However, she kept her talent secret from her family and Master Yu, her earthbending teacher. Toph fought frequently in Earth Rumble, an underground earthbending Lei tai tournament, under the alias “The Blind Bandit”. By the time Aang and his friends discover Toph at the tournament, she had won her way to become the current champion, holding a 42-0 win-loss record prior to her encounter with Aang.

In order to escape entirely from her parents’ control, Toph fled secretly with Aang and his friends and volunteered herself as Aang’s Earthbending instructor. Early on, Toph’s defiance of authority and lack of cooperation annoyed Katara. The two eventually put aside their differences and became close friends.

The Bei Fong family appears to be well-known and influential in the Earth Kingdom. In the episode “The Serpent’s Pass”, Toph’s mere display of her family’s seal was sufficient enough to gain passage on a Ba Sing Se-bound ferry, despite lacking proper documentation to obtain a ticket normally.

In search of an earthbending teacher who “waits and listens”, the group arrives in the town of Gaoling and eventually come across the town’s underground earthbending tournament, Earth Rumble VI. After watching Toph’s performance and recalling the vision he experienced in the swamp, Aang believes she is the requisite person. When Xin Fu, the tournament host, calls for volunteer challengers, Aang takes up the offer for a chance to speak to her. Thanks to his airbending in conjunction with her inability to see what is not on the ground, Aang easily defeats Toph and upsets her winning streak. She, however, does not give him a chance to speak and immediately leaves the arena in a huff.

Aang later finds Toph at the Bei Fong estate, and he is eventually able to talk to her about his quest and need for an earthbending teacher. Before Toph can make a decision, she and Aang are kidnapped by the earthbending tournament staff, who believe that Toph lost intentionally because they failed to see anything hit her.

The tournament wrestlers demand a ransom, which Katara, Sokka, Master Yu, and Toph’s father (voiced by Cam Clarke) pay, but only Toph is released. The competitors announce that they will be handing Aang to the Fire Nation for the reward instead, prompting Katara to plead Toph for her help in rescuing Aang. Her father interjects, claiming that his daughter is blind, tiny, helpless, and fragile, and unable to help them. Slighted, Toph steps forward and single-handedly defeats the entire tournament staff and the host, Xin Fu. Master Yu is speechless and awed by Toph’s amazing earthbending skill. Her father is silent.

That night, Toph tries to reason with her parents that she is skillful at fighting and enjoys it, and that she should be allowed to live a normal life. She hopes that all of this new information does not change the way they feel about her. Toph’s father replies that it does not change his love for her as a father, but it instead has made him realize that he has allowed her too much freedom. He plans to have guards watching over her all day long. Toph’s protests are unheard.

Outside town, just as Aang and his friends are about to depart, Toph appears and claims that her father had changed his mind, saying that she was free to travel the world. Upon hearing this testimony, the group is swift to depart, sailing into the night sky with a new member and earthbending teacher. With his daughter’s sudden absence, Toph’s father concludes that the Avatar has kidnapped his daughter and issues a large reward to Master Yu and Xin Fu to bring her back by any means necessary. While traveling with the Avatar, Toph’s social attitudes change considerably. She becomes much less snide and private, but nonetheless still retains her cocky attitude. Her bending abilities also improve throughout Book Two, as she has learned to bend metal using her special ability to “see” the impurities (small fragments of earth) in the metal.

Toph joins Sokka and Suki in the series finale to hijack a Fire Nation airship to attempt to prevent the “burning of the old world”. While commandeering an airship she uses Metalbending almost as proficiently as Earthbending. The three succeed in stopping the airship brigade, giving Aang the time he needed to defeat Phoenix King Ozai and to save the world. Toph’s last appearance is complimenting Sokka’s poorly drawn painting of the group by saying “they all look perfect”, again pointing out that she cannot see it, and makes everyone laugh except Sokka. It is unknown whether she returned to her parents after the battle ended.

While the Earthbending style used by most Earthbenders is rooted in the Hung Gar style of Kung Fu, Toph’s style is uniquely based on Chu Gar Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu. Though blind, Toph has the unique ability to use Earthbending to “feel” even the most minute vibrations in the earth, be it the presence of trees and buildings or the march of ants several meters away. Through this heightened seismic sense, she can visualize where people are, their relative distance to her, and their physical build. This sense provides her with a distinct advantage when facing other Earthbenders in combat, as they characteristically require contact with the ground and extract rocks from their surroundings. As another result of her blindness, Toph has acquired an acute sense of hearing, enabling her to recognize people by the sound of their voices and hone in on distant conversations. Most significantly, Toph retains the ability to sense when a person is lying based on his or her heartbeat and breathing patterns.

Unfortunately, due to her dependency on vibrations in the earth, Toph is left considerably vulnerable to attacks initiated in midair or opponents who require little constant contact with the ground, such as Aang. Terrain that impairs Toph’s ability to sense vibrations also hinders her abilities; she has some difficulty with sand, which constantly shifts and lacks solidity, preventing her from accurately “feeling” her surroundings. Since Toph needs her feet to “feel” the earth in order to perform Earthbending, she becomes truly “blind” if her feet (specifically, the soles of her feet) are badly damaged, as shown when Zuko accidentally burned her feet. As further illustrations of her affinity with the earth, Toph does not know how to swim and expresses an aversion to flying as well as travelling underwater in a submarine.

As of the end of Book Two, Toph is the only known Earthbender with the ability to bend metal. When Toph is seen concentrating in her iron prison, the sadhu known as Guru Pathik explains to Aang in a parallel scene that metal is refined Earth. As a result of her ability to feel the vibrations in earth, Toph is able to locate the impurities (the small fragments of earth) and manipulate them to “bend” the metal portion. Later on, Sokka gives Toph a small piece of meteorite, which she can easily mold into myriad shapes.

Toph is shown to be a very skilled Earthbender at the end of the series. She and Aang are the only two Earthbenders known to use the Badgermoles’ Earthsight ability. Toph also becomes proficient in Sandbending, even making an incredibly detailed sand sculpture of Ba Sing Se.

mentioned in yr post to him that there was a Formation there ‘recently’ …

do you have any additional info, any newspaper clippings/fotos/referrals
to anyone who you know visited the Formation? can you tell me precisely
where the Circle was?

now, in Chehalis in ‘94 and ‘96 there were Formations (wch i documented
aerially and with wheat samples), and there were two in Adna (near
Chehalis) in ‘94 both of wch i worked with Dr Gerald Hawkins on the math
– ‘94AdnaI was the first US Formation with confirmed diatonic ratio;
and of course in ‘93 the Kennewick Formation (wch i aerially documented
and sampled for Dr L) started everything off, was the first Pictogram
the States had received (to the best i’ve been able to confirm); and ‘98
Eltopia (wch i aerially and lay documented) and WhidbeyIsle (wch i tried
to find but was directed instead to lodged fields) each received one.
but i left PortAngeles area and haven’t heard about any WA or OR
Formations this year.

A strange formation appeared overnight in a Northwest field. No one has been able to explain how the huge patterns appeared. Some say it’s the work of extraterrestrials or a spiritual power. Others say it’s another chapter in the hoax story of the century.

A Port Angeles woman is devoting much of her life investigating these strange formations here in the Northwest and around the world.

For more than a decade, people around the world have been fascinated by reports of thousands of crop circle formations that have appeared in farm fields everywhere from England to right here in the Northwest.

While some formations are believed to have been made by people, in many cases scientists have been unable to explain what’s created them.

A Northwest woman who is devoting much of her life to crop circle research says there is more and more evidence these formations have been sent from a power or entity yet unknown.

Ilyes of Port Angeles, is the national coordinator of the Center for Crop Circle Studies in the U.S. She’s spent years researching these bizarre formations that seem to appear out of nowhere overnight.

Ilyes has been interested in crop circles since 1985, and has been traveling to England since 1991 to study them.

Some scientists believe the formations are the result of a simple, but unexplained natural phenomenon. Other people believe extraterrestrial beings are involved.

Ilyes has her own theory. She feels ancient spiritual energies are the source of the circles.

“I believe that these circle makers are separate consciousnesses that have come together over eons and eons and eons. Very loving, a very high order intelligence,” she said.

Ilyes and thousands of others, believe the formations may convey important messages and a positive energy.

Skeptics say that’s new-age hogwash. They say the real circle makers are human pranksters.

Ilyes says her visits to the formations have led her to evidence that could prove these formations are not human made. Nodes in the wheat appear to have been blown out by a powerful force – not something she believes is caused by trampling of human feet.

Ilyes says researchers have been monitoring the fields, watching for people making the formations and have caught no one. Nor, she says, can any one explain how a person would have the time to intricately weave the wheat together the way it is often found.

Skeptics continue to insist publicity-seeking pranksters, or people interested in boosting tourism are making the circles. Ilyes says her purpose is not to prove them wrong but to simply offer what she believes to be the truth.

She says the sense of peace and the positive energy she and many others experience when they enter a crop formation is reason enough to continue to dedicate her life to the formations – reason to believe something powerful is growing from these fields.

While some people have admitted to making some of these formation, Ilyes says they may have just been trying to get into the media spotlight and says you can’t explain the many other formations no one’s claimed responsibility for.

Well, let’s just say the news twists things around a bit doesn’t it ….. but why?

The whole journey of my arrival to begin a blog and join a board room started when my musician friend’s eyes glazed over and I am drawn to come near him. He shows me this picture on the computer of a dog that I later came to know as Dobbs. In my quest to find out who this spirit friend was and why he was hanging with us, I wanted to know about his life…. which lead me to….. Lynn Strait. I haven’t listened to music in 10 years, I had never heard of SOAD, let alone SNOT. Now, thank god he used my musician friend (who from now on I will give the name of “SAM”) as a conduit for me to speak with him directly the first and last time. I sat in my corner on the computer, and I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to explain to Sam what had happened. Sam says something to me, and I said, “I’m glad you’re back.” He was curious what I meant and I told him, “You left, someone else was here talking to me.” He remembered things before that conversation, and afterwards, but not the exact words that were spoken between Lynn and I. He admitted he had felt Lynn’s presence but I suppose had I not said anything, he had no reason to share that with me. Lynn led Sam and I on a convoluted path….which won’t be easy to explain…..where one hint leads to another and leads to here….type type type…..

Lynn usually liked to appear in the witching hour, and I have been on hiatus from work, so I spent my time off doing research about this soul. Not much information could be gathered in Google searches, and requests for information seemed inappropriate to burden or alarm his family, so out of respect I didn’t contact them.

There was One “friend” I thought I found of Lynn’s that would “get it” but replied in an email how she found message disturbing (and I didn’t even tell her the ghost story!). By that time, with Lynn’s direction, I found Elect the Dead, so I replied that I had found what I was looking for and thanked her for taking the time to respond. I thought it was interesting that someone would be disturbed that I wanted to know what was important in Lynn’s heart, because I felt he was here for a reason, he had something left to do that was important to him.

On the spirit quest to learn about this soul Lynn and what was important to him. Not much was written about him, but from what I could piece together …. he did care about making a difference in the world, he was disappointed in others for causing unnecessary hardship, and he shared a kinship with Serj who I believe gave him purpose to his gift.

Lynn was prophetic and his song Absent sounds as if he already knew his fate and agreed – but I think there was more he wanted to do ….

Now – extend the journey – and the next place in Lynn’s heart is Serj ….. and I see many symbols of Lynn on the www.serjtankian.com  website.

When visiting with Lynn (or more so, Lynn visiting with us), he doesn’t take my friend’s body over for very long….he likes to hang out within him so it’s not like I can sit down and chat. In fact, I am important to the degree that I do what it is he wants me to do with the research, but he doesn’t want to spend his time talking to me. He never knew Sam on Earth, but he likes him, and I can see why. They both have this agro thing going on, and they both love to listen to music.

Sam is not a pretentious person, in fact, you wouldn’t even know he is a musician if you met him. He never shares with others how talented he is, but he can play guitar (and many other instruments), song writer, etc…..but his guitar skills connect on a universal level, a vibration, a heavy sound, that I have only been privileged to hear on occasion. We could be out and meet musicians who are talking about their next deal, song, bla “>bla bla bla, and he never says a word unless it is of well wishes for them. One time he shared a song with someone from a private recording, and this person was a known performer now in his 50’s, and I thought he was going to pass out. All he kept saying is Sam should be doing this and that ….. and Sam just seemed sorry he bothered. He doesn’t need the fan fare to make him feel important, or resolve childhood issues….or money and fame to make him happy. Well, that’s Lynn’s kind of guy, and is why he comes over from time to time in the last few months to hang out, listen to music, watch videos, etc. I watch Sam out of the corner of my eye and he seems to be putting on the computer whatever Lynn wants to watch. Lynn sometimes has Sam repeat an interview with someone who is speaking of him after his death, and listen to the same line over and over again…..gets me a little creeped out. I would have thought we wouldn’t worry about what happened on earth once we died, but I guess if people are pretenders, using your name to promote a friendship that never existed……well…..let’s just say it pisses Lynn off more now.

Since I have never dealt with a spirit before, it took me awhile to catch up to speed. Everything had to be done in house…so I started with each song from his band Snot, which gave me some insight to this spirit who liked to spark debate between my friend and I. Really liked hanging around and feeling earthbound. Sometimes I got the sense he felt ripped off, that he wasn’t ready to go, but maybe that’s how I would feel if I was him. That’s been a thought that has been with me regarding his whole death, a turmoil that I think I wrestle with, because as far as I can tell, Lynn knew and agreed, and left with his best friend together. Whether he did so consciously and freely is unclear.

Lynn really liked when we researched and researched and debated over each song meaning – really loved his dog – had very few friends who knew him and cared – but don’t we all. His energy attracted so many around him – the glare of insincerity must have made his jokes funny but scary if you understood how he was testing you. That’s how it was when he showed me Dobbs…..childlike humor but scared me when he spoke – then again – my first time talking with someone from that realm. Sam told me the night I spoke to Lynn he too had some scary sounds he heard when playing Snot. We knew this was Lynn, not some demon, so we had to figure out what was the interpretation…..so I stayed with it, in my corner and did my homework – while Lynn hung out with Sam.

The first place took me to the meanings behind The Box and Deadfall. I’m not going to talk about Lynn’s personal life. If he wants me to write a book for him and give the proceeds to his family then that will be an appropriate time to discuss those issues. If for some reason, a person close to Lynn reads this and becomes upset, then I apologize for causing any harm. I do not have any intentions, I do not have any goals in the music industry, and I have no personal reason to be doing this except for the fact that this is something that I feel I’m supposed to do. I welcome any discussions privately. I know this is a disturbing story, but I have a feeling that Sam and I are not the only people that Lynn has been with since his passing. The only insight I am willing to share is a concept from the two songs mentioned: because Lynn was so intelligent, he was concerned about the effects electric waves had on him when they were baby-sitting him, and the effects he was generating back.

Under Lynn’s guidance, the song Chop Suey from System of a Down came into my radar. This next part is speculation but there is so many meanings, this topic was shared with one of the Serj Board members posts to me:

 It’s so great to see someone creating not only messages of social behavior, modification, representation, prayer and change ….. but I have a strong sense that he is going to be instrumental in a paradigm shift –

Elect the Dead has so many layers to potential meanings (maybe no meaning at all?)

That question has been rolling with me since the discovery of System of a Down a month back, and I have been formulating it.

 Without divulging why those lines above were important or the process of finding the final definition (which I think there is layered meanings, but I always do….conscious or unconscious of the writers)

According to one very hard to find article -

Chop Suey – is a play on words from the song’s original title “Suicide” to make it “radio friendly”

I shared this with my musician friend who from here forward to protect his identity will call Sam.

Sam said ….. oh I get it …. they put the name on the chopping block and told the band they had to change it

so they chopped the name suicide ….. “Sueycide”

I might of called it Chicken Dumplings ….. because if it was about Lynn before he left for that drive that ended the life of him and his beloved dog Dobbs…..then the food would have meant Chicken DumpLYNNS.

From SOAD to Serg and the discovery of Elect the Dead: as I weaved in and out of study on the music scene I had been absent from…….there’s more, but I will leave with this last thought for now…….

There was also something else that was significant: what was happening to Sam and I with meeting Lynn, had happened to Lynn too. The only difference is that Sam and I had each other to confirm and roll with it, Lynn was alone during these experiences. Not being able to express things have a funny way of coming out from the great burial. We exhibit symptoms of erratic behavior and confusion, signs of alcoholism, or drug abuse, all of which is just being isolated from like minded people who have no common ground for him to connect to. When you see things that are so profound that don’t fit into the “norm” of society, it’s hard not to look at people with disdain and frustration. On the flip side, it’s easy to see a pure heart, and a noble cause.

PS: Dobbs is a mature dog, behaves and happy in a car, in Lynn’s home with a crown on and his head, with the sound of his toe nails tapping the floors when he walks.

..and we indulge in our self-righteous suicide. Because Serj said so.

see what listening to System of a Down does to you?

I first heard System of a Down in freshman year of college. Watching Shavo Odadjian beady-eyed madness on my tiny dorm room 14-inch TV in the chopsuey! video had a resonance, even back then, with my inner lunatic.

It would be later, over a year after the release of Steal this Album! and with it the significant maturing both in SOAD’s musical complexity and in Serj’s lyrics that I started to get seriously hooked. With the release of hypnotize / mezmerize, System of a Down eventually supplanted EVERYTHING as my core musical sense.

I find it difficult to explain, to articulate the sheer potency of the effect System’s music has on me. In a world where incoherent grunting, the word ‘yeah’ and ‘oh’ repeating in various iterative combinations pass as lyrics; in a world where bands re-unite 25-30+ years after their prime to redefine and renew the music in people’s lives; in a world where money talks, bullshit walks and its more important to sue people than encourage creation…in this world System of a Down connects.

Serj’s wailing-doom-warble, Shavo’s demonic bass guitar built on the elemental fury of Daron Malakian and John Dalamayan tend to overwhelm the listener. initially. But the power and ferocity hide a sublime grace, and ability to make ‘pictures in your mind’, to make you feel the fundamental dissatisfaction at the heart of SOAD’s lyrics, to agree whole-heartedly, atleast for the moment, to stand up, step up, shout out, shout loud, be like SOAD and demand more, better and truer of the world, ourselves and everyone else. This is, to me, what SOAD is all about. They make us care, they break the walls of apathy and make, nay, demand, that we join them in the fun.

I could go on and on. I’ve been writing this post for over an hour with numerous edits and if I’m not careful, I could be here all weekend. I’ll leave you now with a video that inspired (correction: demanded) this post and some lyrics and quotes, to the band that gave a voice to ‘the generation that didn’t agree’.

Zastanawiałem się o czym dziś napisać i stwierdziłem że nastukam coś na temat pierwszej solowej płyty Serj Tankiana czyli “Elect The Dead” Płyte wydał w swojej własnej wytwórni o nazwie “Serjical Strike Recording”. Warto dodać że do każdego utworu “stworzył” teledysk. Ale przechodząc do sedna sprawy to krążek zaczyna się energicznym singlem “Empty Walls”. Śmiem twierdzić że to najlepszy kawałek jaki kiedykolwiek Tankian stworzył – przejścia z szybkiego, momentami panicznego głosu artysty w melancholijny śpiew wychodzą znakomicie co akurat niespodzianką nie jest, także użycie fortepianu jest czymś czego w Systemie raczej nigdy nie zobaczymy. Następnie mamy jeden z najbardziej “dzikich” utworów na płycie czyli “The Unthinking Majority – Serj śpiewa tak jakby uciekał przed bykami podczas święta “San Fermin” w Hiszpanii Piosenka spodoba się fanom SoaD-u ze względu na jej szalony styl, choć trzeba przyznać że perkusja nie powala. Sam tekst jest natomiast z typu “wyżywamy się na politykach”. Trzecim utworem jest “Money” gdzie na początku mamy typowe “napierdalanie w instrumenty i darcie ryja” – zwrotki są śpiewane dosyć spokojnym głosem z użyciem fortepianu. Jednak refren obudził by nawet człowieka podanego narkozie przed operacją Jeśli chodzi o tekst to najbardziej zapadł mi w pamięć: “Save your money,
Hide your money”.

Potem mamy trzy piosenki – “Feed Us” jest dosyć mocna, lecz dwie kolejne czyli Saving Us i Sky Is Over to dosyć spokojne utwory o życiu. Siódmy utwór zaczyna się głosem wokalistki która użycza głosu w wielu utworach na płycie, chwile po spokojnym początku mamy porządne przypieprzenie gitarami i głos Tankiana na dobrym poziomie. Piosenka numer 8(Honking Antelope) to moim zdaniem perełka jeśli chodzi o melodyjność fortepianu i “arabskie” głosy “Lie Lie Lie” to jeden z bardziej humorystycznych i bogatych w ciekawe dźwięku utwór – jak się w niego wsłuchacie to będziecie nucić “Lalalalalalalala lie lie lie” od wschodu po zachód słońca. O dziesiątej piosence wspominać nie będe bo jest kiczowata – jest wszystkiego po troche(fortepian, gitara, jęki, dziwne dźwięki, melancholia) czyli nie ma nic tak naprawdę. Jedyne co podoba mi się w tym kawałku to końcówka i dźwięki z jakiegoś bardzo starego radia. Numer jedenasty też nie zachwyca, nie jest zły ale też nie wybitny. Ot taka normalna piosenka. Ostatnia piosenka “Elect The Dead” to melancholijny, uczuciowy Serj z użyciem fortepianu na którym potrafi grać świetne melodie.

Ogólnie płyta jest dobra, ale też troche jej brakuje bo niektóre utwory są na odpierdol robione.
