ESADE is all based on team work as we all know. However ESADE makes sure that the team work is not perfectly smooth and forms teams of 6-8 team members instead of the efficient 3-5. ESADE also ensures that the cultural and professional backgrounds are very diverse to make things even more tricky. This is done on purpose in my opinion but it has been extremely beneficial for our learning experience to be confronted with all those difficulties, different opinions, backgrounds, etc..

Another issue with team work is finding the time to meet and having the right tools to collaborate. Google docs and calendar, Yugma, Skype, Msn, etc. have been extremely useful but how about a tool that allows brainstorming for? I am still looking for the program or application that combines all the common online collaboration tools.

AND Google has done it again!!!

Check out the latest product of Google, called “Google Wave“. It is difficult to describe because it seems a little bit like a revolution on the web. It is an open source email service, wiki, blog, chat, collaboration tool, photosharing, IM, etc. in one! You don’t believe me? Have a look at this stunning piece of tool that is currently still in beta but will have an amazing future, of which I am sure! Check it out here.

I am curious what the feelings will be in 2 weeks when the first euphoria has settled but as of now it looks great! Create your own waves!

Sony, the world leader in technology has again unveiled their new Walkman, the new Sony OLED Walkman

Sony, the world leader in technology has again unveiled their new Walkman, the new Sony OLED Walkman (NWZ-X1050). With the way it look and functions, this is undoubtedly the portable media player of the future.

Talking about the looks, the Sony OLED Walkman NWZ-X1050 has a sleek design making it elegant and presentable gadget to use. Despite of it being lightweight, it is sturdy enough for use considering that the control buttons are rock solid.

The NWZ-X1050’s OLED display is spacious enough for you to enjoy a top-notch viewing experience. However, even if it has a 3-inch display, it is still small enough to fit into tight spaces like your pockets.
Admit it, the 3-inches OLED touch screen display with 432 x 240 resolutions is the feature that made the new Sony OLED walkman standout. Unlike any other portable media players, the new Sony Walkman will allow you view your favorite photos and video clips with just a super effortless swiping of the panel from one album to another.

You also need not the press each icon so hard because each icon will immediately react even with the gentlest touch you made.

The new Sony Walkman is also very user friendly. Transferring data to and from the device to your MAC OS or Windows OS PC is simple drag and drop using a hi-speed USB. Meaning, you need not to install any confusing software just to have your files transferred.

Talking about sound quality and usability, you will not ask for more with the Sony Walkman NWZ-X1050. It has the ability to provide high quality sound and meet the user’s expectations for a high-end portable media player.

If you already have enough from your playlist and wanted to have some fresh feed from the radio stations, you can easily turn the walkman’s FM tuner or connect to the internet because the new Sony OLED Walkman is already WiFi ready.
Using its built-in Li-ion battery, you can already have 33 hours of continuous music or 9 hours of video, which is an awesome performance from a portable media player. When having a long drive, you will never get bored again with your new Sony OLED Walkman NWZ-X1050 on hand.
With this new generation of Sony Walkman, mobile technology has really gone so far. If before you can talk to your family and friends through your mobile phone, browsing the internet is now already possible as well using your WiFi ready Sony Walkman and view your favorite YouTube video clips. Since it has the ability to play up to 9 hours of continuous video, you can now also watch your favorite movie without rushing to the movie house. Since it has the Sony technology, there will be no doubt that everybody will get satisfied with the quality it can provide.

Though you will not going to have the chance to track down a taxi near your or the best restaurants and bar near you or call your family and friend via Skype, it do still have the best features and look compared to other PMP.

As I lie here in the dark of night having been captured by this thought, and now sending it out to the world , I realise that every human being is important.

The advent of blogging, viral media and social networking affirms this more than ever before.
This has however altered the way daily life is lived.

Each event, function, concert, holiday cannot be simply experienced without being twittered, flickred or facebooked

It is all based upon the presumption that everyone in our world is looking out and cares for what we have to say, that we are perpetually on a stage.

Or the grim thought that at our death our history and eulogy is digitally written by our own hand.
The benefits of social media far outweigh the demerits.
However this microwave era, this period of bubblegum life will soon enough come to pass.
This is, to me, made clear in three key aspects in which it has affected our lives.

The first aspect is the lightness with which it comes;a serious message that was once carried in a weighty letter is posted in a microsecond and quickly buried in a mass of meaningless garbage.
This adds in the “cry-wolf” effect, where a serious message is taken lightly. I need not remind you what happened to the boy who cried wolf.

Do you not find it annoying, the multiple media we have to deal with? Today, an afternoon after a hard days work for the typical urban person means skype,email,i-pod,facebook,twitter,flicker,newspaper,tv,radio,sms,phone calls. All this outside direct person to person conversations.
You would think that we are now better at multitasking, but surveys show that persons raised in this media explosion have extremely short attention spans. They can hardly concentrate.

What hurts me most though, is the waning of pure peace and enjoyment of beauty. One no longer basks in a the orange basket of a sunset or sunrise, plunging and losing oneself in its beauty, without first whipping out a camera to “capture”the moment, not knowing the moment was lost once the plunge wasn’t taken, and the decision to be a cold observer behind mirrored steel was made. We will then tumblr it, tweet it, facebook it, stumble upon it, sms it and by the time we are done, it will be dark or high noon, the moment lost in time.

Instead of building addictive habits around our media,we should validate and qualify the importance of our use of the same, and thereafter, use them in moderation.

More and more startups are working in distributed teams. Teams with people in different countries and time zones.
GitHub: share the source
Yammer is a tool for making companies and organizations more productive through the exchange of short frequent answers to one simple question: “What are you working on?”
As employees answer that question, a feed is created in one central location enabling co-workers to discuss ideas, post news, ask questions, and share links and other information. Yammer also serves as a company directory in which every employee has a profile and as a knowledge base where past conversations can be easily accessed and referenced.
Anyone in a company can start their Yammer network and begin inviting colleagues. The privacy of each network is ensured by limiting access to those with a valid company email address. The basic Yammer service is free. Companies can pay to claim and administer their networks.

Skype: for the direct conversation
It’s the most comprehensive feedback tool on the Web.
The tool works on PC, Mac, and iPhone.

As a girl on the go, I don’t let something minor like international roaming charges bring my iPhone time down. But costly phone bills have forced me to make some significant changes.

First and foremost: international phone plans are bulls(*$t. Go ahead and add it to your plan for the those emergency calls and texts, but don’t rely on them. Your wallet will curse you if you do.

If you have an iPhone or certain BlackBerrys, you can keep your phone bill on the cheap by enabling this one tiny feature: WiFi. Using the WiFi network over the cellular will keep your costs down huge when checking your e-mail, Twittering, Facebook-stalking, or blogging from the phone.

This handy app is a must-download for cost-conscious, heavy travelers

For you iPhoners, download the Skype app immediately. The sound quality on the phone is crisp, the connections are strong, and you can keep your hours-long phone conversations going without hitting your phone bill. It’s brilliant. (Note: there is a Skype app for many mobile phone models, so check if your phone is covered).

If you have a SIM-card phone, it may be worth it to get a local SIM card and put it in your phone. You can keep your data services cheap (based on local market costs), and set up call forwarding to send calls to your new local number. Also look into renting a phone for the duration of your stay; it may turn out to be cheaper. Since I come to India quite often, the company gave me an Indian phone with a good data plan.

If you have a BlackBerry, look into getting the Global BlackBerry Services plan. It provides unlimited e-mail in the States, Canada, and over 60 countries worldwide, as well as a pay-as-you-g0 option for data download amounts. AT&T and Verizon have different versions, so make sure you check with your provider on the details and costs.

If you simply need a US number while you’re abroad, order a Vonage number and modem while you’re still iln the US and bring it with you to your destination. We’ve brought three Vonage numbers with us to India for our families’ homes and our office, and they’ve been huge in keeping the costs down. They also are the reason our phones at home never stop ringing, but I digress…

So, readers, that’s the trick to keeping in touch, recessionista-style, while abroad. Bon voyage and bon cost savings!

eBay, the online auction giant and owner of the popular Skype software has finally sold Skype and the deal is complete. A message on the official Skype blog from company President Josh Silverman reads:

“Great news – we’ve closed the deal with the new investors. The investor group is led by Silver Lake, and includes Andreessen Horowitz, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), Joltid Limited and our founders Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis.

The deal valued Skype at $2.75B US, with eBay retaining approximately 33% of Skype, and the investor group led by Silver Lake controlling the remaining 65%.Our journey continues: say hello to the future!”

eBay originally purchased Skype back in September 2005 for $3.1 billion and struggled to find a way to integrate the popular VOIP service into it’s business model. As the auction giant continued to look for ways to utilize the service with their exiting portfolio the value of Skype began to decline.

On September 1, 2009 the company had announced, “Today, Skype begins a new chapter. We’re spinning off from eBay to become an independent company once again”. It remains to be seen if the Skype will become a publicly traded company on the stock market or if there will be any significant changes to the business plan now that Skype has new owners.

A funny thing just happened. Zoey being a typical dachshund likes to burrow under things. There is a pile of blankets on the floor that she is under. Steve being a comfort loving dog just layed down on the pile of blankets, which Zoey took great exception too. Needless to say Steve removed himself from the blankets very quickly! It was very funny.

I went out with some friends last night. I had a good time. When we were talking I realized I had forgotten to write about a funny e-mail Navy Girl had sent me. Here it is:

…in which I spent ten hours watching people pee.

That’s right. Ten hours.

So the moral of the story is: being an unqualified E-5 on a carrier has some significant drawbacks.

Oh, and Army Girl? If you ever think about getting that particular area of your anatomy tattooed, resist the impulse. It’s not pretty a couple of years down the road.

Love Always,

As you can see being in the military is fun! I would not want to be the idiot who triggered the drug testing of 5000 people. The thing I find most amazing about this is they tested everyone on the ship, from the Captain to as Navy Girl put it the lowly seaman just out of boot camp, absolutely everyone.

I am chatting with Army Girl and it is always a weird experience. There is a delay and it echos. I keep getting distracted by myself. There is always odd noises and sometimes she gets booted off but Skype is cool. It doesn’t cost her very much and we get to actually talk as opposed to typing to each other.

I have to study and take my test so I will get going. Plus I have to make cookies.

Happy thoughts for a happy day!

According to Easypeasy’s wiki ;

” easypeasy is an operating system optimized for netbooks. It favors the best software available by delivering Firefox with Flash and Java, Skype, Google Picasa, Banshee, codecs (ie. mp3) etc. out of the box. easypeasy 1.5 is our latest stable release and was released September 7th, 2009.”
According to me it’s a really easypeasy operating system to use that does everything from the first time you boot it up. The Wireless connection is ready for you, the Function Keys work (most of them, I couldn’t actually switch off the wireless). Out on the internet and Flash websites work, MP3’s play it all “just works”.

Of course it’s not actually FREE as in FREEDOM but if you can live with that and need to be up and running on your eeePC fast it’s definitely worth a look.

It is raining out side. The sun has gone already, the night is here. The rain is not heavy at all, but it seems like it won’t stop for a while. The time is around 18.00 pm, little chilly, I can see the wet road reflects the lights of the town.

The road is dark, street is dark, but I see very bright convenience store there. I walk in there to get some sweets. I feel like having something like sweet bread or pan cakes, as I just ordered a cup of coffee at the cafe outside.

In the store, they have many sweets, and also they have many bento, I am almost buying Kama meshi bento, but stopped myself.

There are two high tables like bar counter, wooden and little old. They are outside in the rain. As the rain is not much heavy, some people are still there and having coffee. Not bright lights there, but still can see each other.

I am looking for some sweets to have with my coffee, but I couldn’t find anything I want, so I just walk out and back to the table.

My eeePC is on the table, I totally forgot about it, the laptop got wet and when I open it, even on the key board I see water there. This is like my baby, I can not break it. I take the laptop and hold it, but I don’t have anything to wipe the water off. Luckly, it was not too bad, it boots, at least.

One of my old friend from my hometown is here with me, she is talking about her dreams, but my I don’t really remember what she said. I feel there is my mother, somewhere around me, but I don’t see her. How do I know it? I have no idea.

Suddenly, I came out of the dream. I touched my eeePC’s keyboad to wake it up. There is one chat window open and it shows video. I can’t remember when I started video chat with one of my friend, but seems like he can see me and I see him, on skype.

As I see, he is in a little Japanese style room, in a kotatsu, which is Japanese style low table with heater inside and blanket on, we use it during winter. I see him from left and little down, so I look him up. It’s really like Japanese house, reminds me what Japan is like.

Then I remember that he must be on trip, he is not in Japan. I am chatting with him and looking at him, but somehow I can’t ask “Where are you?”. I’m just telling him about my dreams.

We’ve all heard the adage “fashion is cyclical”; this point rang true for me when rummaging through my mom’s closet on a lazy Saturday afternoon. The trends of today consist of leather motorcycle jackets, boyfriend blazers and sequin blouses, and to my amazement, I found the very same items hanging idly in mother’s boudoir, waiting to be discovered again.

This royal blue, gold-plated button blazer (with shoulder pads and all) is a shining example of how we should never toss even the trendiest of items, as they’re sure to come back in style, full throttle, down the road. Although this look may be somewhat of an eyesore at first, it can easily be revamped by replacing the buttons, removing the shoulder pads (unless you’re fan of this of-the-moment fad pulled off so elegantly by Rhianna), and adding a modern LBD underneath.

Another rare find I pulled out from the cobwebs is a leather zip front motorcycle-ish vest. To restyle, simply pair it with a crisp button-down blouse or a sharp pair of trousers. The sequin top shown may be slightly more difficult to pull off for occasions other than 80’s night at the local dive bar, but a fun look to play with nonetheless. Shockingly, it actually fits great — slim fitting around the torso and angled shoulders give it an architectural body style with a glitzified glamour. I’d wear this with wide leg jeans and an equally bold set of earrings for a fun night out on the town.

My little discovery session is a reminder to not throw away your fashion treasures. They’re sure to make a comeback in the years ahead!

A day full. A day full of living. Love it!

Let’s see, woke up early to ride my bike, do some TKD and clean the kitchen. All necessary things to make me feel like I’m getting things done and moving. Then we hustle up to teach some TKD to those remarkable little people who give up Saturday morning cartoons to come and learn some self defense and self growth stuff.

Oh, and before I get too cheeky about my busy and happy life…it is made so by those who help me out! I had two parties to tend to today and did I get the shopping done for it? Criminy no. If you know me you know I do not like shopping much. Okay, not at all. So if you don’t know me, you now know this about me. Thanks MAGGIE the MAGNIFICENT for saving me!

So back home from class we go. Grace O’Malley is there which is always a pleasing sight. She comes over to me as I sit down and starts singing Twinkle Star to me. Be still my heart. So I had to play this so she could sing some more. Nothing better than a small child singing her little words with her little musical rythem. I get a few minutes of the Queen’s attention and Mamo’s heart is full.

We pack up the gifts MtM had delivered to my home. Yes, DELIVERED to my house.

While I’m waiting for David to get ready I get a SKYPE call from Ireland! Cousins from the Motherland are calling. How awesome is that? I got to talk a bit before running. Though Ireland is being deluged with floods, the family, our family, is doing okay. One benefit of technology these days, it takes the worry out via instant communication. Stay safe Ireland!

But we had a bit of a dilemma today. I had made commitments to attend two different parties, in two different towns, at the exact same time. And we had told MASHLEY we would take them with us to one of the parties. So we hurried over to JC to take baby shower presents to a family shower. It was nice to have a few minutes to talk to family, but I felt like a heel walking out five minutes after it was to start. We went early so we could spend some time with them. Still had to leave. We didn’t want to miss it, but couldn’t stay for it either. But the second party we got to with a half hour left. In time for cake and presents. And to meet our friend Stephy’s beautiful family. Stephy and Taka treated all the party goers to Japanese candy and soda. Old friends, new experiences. Good life!

But when MASHLEY, David and I left World of Bounce I had a BRILLIANT idea. We should have Nessie and Hoochie’s wedding there. Wouldn’t that be FUN. As in AWESOMELY FUN! Come on! Anyone can have a regular old wedding where everyone is all formal and proper and all. No offense formal and proper wedding preferer’s. I just think a World of Bounce wedding, or was it Bounce World? Whichever, would be FUN. And who doesn’t need fun in their marriage and in their life? Get married and bounce for joy! Get married and bounce for love.

I still think it would be a great idea. When I called Nessie to tell her I put a deposit down on the place, she didn’t think it was too funny.

THEN we went to Half Price Books. And come on. Who WOULDN’T be totally thrilled to go to a store where all the books are HALF price. Or less????? I’m assuming if you’re taking the time to read blogs, you love to read. So all of you reading this should understand that kind of happy.

THEN we went to Chipotle. Yeah, we DID. I was disappointed with the bitter onion. But otherwise quite pleased with the spicey steak and tomatoes on my salad. I can’t speak for MASHLEY and David, but I will anyway. David was fine with the cheese/chicken/burrito. MA was not tickled with her taco, but she was a sport with the chips. SHLEY loved her tacos!

THEN we went to Dairy Queen. For those in this world who don’t think I ever stray from my attempts at healthy eating. THERE! I did, have a Blizzard. The second one in TWO weeks. Now how is that for living? Yeah, great life. I know.

We talked to different friends about our cabin today. And the nice part about that? They are all excited for us, and for our vision of our little home to be. They see the charm of it, the fun of it, the chance to create something special for us.

Any time we spend with MASHLEY makes us happy. Makes us laugh. And we usually make plans for many more things to do. And of course, we did. Musical Christmas will be on the agenda.

It makes me so happy to know that people want me in their lives. How can a busy day going from friend to friend to friend, with the best husband in the world by my side, be made better? It can’t. But it’s good to go home and relax and feel like a day was spent well.

And it was.

Well done!

Now thats it out of ebay, skype seems set to really take on the telecoms world. skype is strongly positioned to make some serious noise in this market – so it will be interesting to see how this develops. below is a QA with marc andreessen from fortune

Andreessen on Skype

Few people are more delighted that Skype cofounders Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis finally settled their lawsuit with eBay (EBAY) on November 6 than Marc Andreessen. The venture capital firm he cofounded last summer is one of a group of investment outfits that will now take control of the Internet communications company in a planned $2 billion deal. I caught up with him just after the settlement was announced to ask a few questions:

Q: What does this mean for the company?

A: Everything is settled—all the lawsuit and intellectual property issues are resolved. Skype now owns all the intellectual property. The deal continues to move forward as planned. The company is able to focus 100% on its opportunity, which we think is very large.

Skype added 40 million new registered users in the last three months. It has entered a whole new phase of growth. These things grow and grow for the first few years and then they punch through and become mainstream and everybody starts to use them—like Facebook a couple years ago. It’s happening at Skype right now.

Q: What’s the opportunity ahead?

A: We think Skype is one of the most important companies in the industry. A small number of companies are critical to how the Internet works and this is one of those. It has been extremely successful, but it still occupies only a small percentage of the global telecommunications market. It has the been the main way that people make use of video for communcation.

In the old days, the purpose of networks was to do voice. It’s why networks got built out. In the new world networks fundamentally do data. When you have highspeed data, it makes sense for voice and video to be a software application top of it. All kinds of things become possible because you have moved into software. As one example, you can do free calls all over the world.

Q: How involved will you be with the company?

A: As an investor I will be a board member. But I won’t be a manager.

Q: How will the Skype team build out the business?

A: Skype did $185 million in revenue last quarter. Right now, it charges to connect calls into and out of the phone system. The global market for international long distance is $40 billion right now and Skype has only a small percentage of that.

Skype is increasingly used in businesses so I think there is a real opportunity for business applications. Skype also has a new presence in mobile with the iPhone application.
