Not as hard-line productive a fortnight as I’d hoped for, but with so many people out sick at the Real Job, and Melbourne now being the world’s swine flu capital, I can’t complain about what I have managed to complete. The Carani churches are becoming more and more alive.

I have to share an amusing story. As we all know, I love exposing myself to new places and situations, and sitting back to watch people. Had a blind date two weeks ago that warrants a post of humourous disbelief. At one point, he looked at me and said, with complete sincerity, “I’m sorry, what was I saying? I got lost in your eyes.”

*facepalm*

If I ever, ever, ever, even in jest, write a line as corny as that, I pray one of you will beat me with my thesaurus. <3

Something in my work setup keeps causing it to load up all messed up and I can’t add tags and whatnot, and a lot of evenings I haven’t had time or desire to fire up the PC. Hopefully I’ll get back into it this week because I know you’re all DYING to hear more about my wonderful exciting life!

Just like the title says, it’s been a really slow week. I like it when this happens. The overall stress levels within me and my house hold drop significantly. I have been reading a book called Storm Front. This is the first in the series for the Dresden Files. I have to say that the style of writing, the characters, all of it is really good. I just got finished with the Sword of Truth novels which are exceedingly good to read by themselves, but leave you feeling sort of put out when they come to a close. I have yet to finish the book yet I am certain with the way that the whole thing has been going so far it wont disappoint. Plus there are more to come. Squee! Normally I am not so girly excited about things like this, although, when I like something I tend to like it a lot. This happens to be one of those things. My hopes for the series, when I do reach the end of it, is that it doesn’t leave me feeling dirty. I could probably talk about this all day which isn’t the reason why I decided to write the blog today. Mostly I had this nagging urge to put forth information in regards to the progress with my system, and something else that is on my mind. With the system, it is coming along really nicely now. The new setting is very appealing for what I am trying to accomplish. The balancing issues are settled really well since there aren’t any super mutnats involved. When I get the chance I will revive the poor Charred Earth setting, eventually. For now I am definitely focused on the new angle. That aside there is one last item which has been itching in the back of my mind. Once more, a long time acquaintence has reached me via e-mail. I have the strangest relationship with this young man. He and I will talk for a while then ebb away without a word between us for months maybe even years. Each time that I come into contact with him is stirs up a whole bunch of feelings that I don’t entirely understand. I don’t know how to deal with them either. Worse still is his brother, who is my best friend (or was), didn’t really approve of my relationship with his younger brother. This was nothing obsene mind you, just a different kind of relationship. There were aspects to it that made me wonder a lot. I don’t know, I would like the chance to explore what is going on with this more if I can. I just don’t know if ever I will be able to talk to him more than a month since he is contact with me again. Here’s hoping.

It’s been a difficult week for exercise.
I feel I am way too old to sit up through the night waiting for the results of your elections, ladies! And the aftermath in terms of exercise was disastrous. But I loooooove the outcome so I guess it’s alright
Naomi asked about almonds. Here they are

My daily dose of almonds

I try to have them in the morning, figuring that this way, I’ll walk them off at one point or another during the day. Somehow, they keep me quite satisfied. I’ve always loved almonds.
Now for exercise.
Sat. Nov. 1 – 8,000 steps, (4,600 aerobics)
Sun. Nov. 2 – one of my friend’s sons brought her an iPhone from China and she can’t use it with her phone company, I can, so I just went to the market 3,500 steps, and spent the rest of the day studying the iPhone
Mon. Nov. 3 did nothing all day, except flickring, iPhoning and fiddling with stuff at home.
Tues. Nov. 4 was better 14,000 steps and my one-hour Feldenkrais session
Wed. Nov. 5 2,500 steps, really not much
Thur. Nov. 6 7,000 steps
Fri. Nov. 711,200 steps 1-hour stretching session
Sat. Nov. 8 6,323 steps (4,100 aerobic steps)
Yesterday, Sunday, it didn’t rain, but I just felt lazy. However, I had a theatre ticket for La Comédie Française in the evening, so I left early, took the bus to half the way, and walked briskly

for 35mn as you can see

Again, I’m late in posting this week, but will really try to post on Saturday as promised earlier.

There are slow weeks and there are slow, slow, slow weeks… Single of the Week: The Saturdays

There are slow weeks and there are slow, slow, slow weeks…

Single of the Week: The Saturdays – If This Is Love

The Saturdays feature two ex-members of S Club Juniors/ S Club 8, and three other young ladies. The tone and styling of the video leaves you in no doubt as to which other 5-piece girl-band they’re attempting to emulate. It’s based entirely around a sample from an old Yazoo track, and the pre-chorus also sounds a bit familiar. But while Girls Aloud et al won’t be quaking in their boots yet, this is good, honest, dancefloor-friendly pop music like they used to make in the olden days. By my reckoning, we’re about due another decent girl group…

Some more really quite average singles if you click below…

Boogaloo Stu – Magnetic Heart [YouTube]
I toyed with giving this SOTW, but swiftly realised that I’d then be approving of the idea of calling oneself Boogaloo Stu and donning an hilarious pink quiff wig. The song is moderately good “glam”-electro silliness.

BWO – Lay Your Love On Me [YouTube]
Fantastically gay euro-pop, which seems to be part of this week’s theme. It’s sort of like Madonna’s ‘Hung Up’ on poppers. Has video featuring kids with creepy adult faces and mild bondage, though not at the same time, thankfully. Rather good, actually.

The Cool Kids – 88 [YouTube]
Very Proper, Old-Skool hip-hop, which is all well and good, and it sounds decent, but it’s pretty trad stuff, hardly pushing any boundaries.

Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds – Midnight Man [YouTube]
Solid stuff from the man Cave, but nothing better. Works fine as an album track, but doesn’t have the same weird-pop bludgeoning brilliance as lead single Dig Lazarus Dig.

Pendulum – The Other Side [YouTube]
Back to barnstorming stadium-sort-of-DnB for people who don’t really like DnB, this time. Much better than the electro-rock rubbish of ‘Propane Nightmares’, but still a little confused and more than a little dated.

Pigeon Detectives – Everybody Wants Me [YouTube]
Did I tell you it was a slow week? I did. And do you see what it’s made me do? It’s made me include a Pigeon Detectives single in my round-up for this week. Obviously it’s not very good. But you should listen to some of the other rubbish I had to trawl through this week… it’s a shining beacon by comparison.

Thankfully next week’s looking much better…

Didn’t write a drabble every day. Am rather saddened by this. It’s strange.

Poured over notes and made new notes for the June SoCNoC-mostly character ideas.

A slow week indeed. But at least I am starting the research, maybe I’ll have a plot hammered out before I actually start the writing.
