String Colours Ensemble brought beautiful music to shoppers and diners last February 13 and 14 at SM City Batangas and SM City Lipa.

Meanwhile, Stradivarius Strings were at SM City Naga last February 14 to entertain shoppers who are celebrating Valentine’s Day at the mall.

Chinese New Year celebration updates from SM City Batangas, SM City Lucena, SM City Lipa, and SM City Naga.

Once every year, Filipino-Chinese community celebrate the coming of the Lunar Year and during these period, a lot of activities happens in almost every place in the country. although not part of original Filipino tradition, we have learned to embrace Chinese New Year as one of our own.

And so we give you Chinese New Year celebration updates from SM City Batangas, SM City Lucena, SM City Lipa, and SM City Naga, which was participated by shoppers last February 9 and 10, 2013.

Chinese Cultural Weekend

The Holy Rosary Catholic School showcased Chinese dance performances last February 9, 2013 at SM City Lucena.

At SM City Naga, Naga Hope Christian School and St. Joseph School showed various Chinese traditions through dances last February 9 and 10.

Over at SM City Lipa and SM City Batangas, students from KIPSI Elementary School joined the Chinese New Year celebration with cute performances of Chinese dances.

Pick a Lucky Ang Pao

SM Supermarket shoppers were in for a treat! For a minimum P 1,000.00 single-receipt, they were entitled to pick an ang pao from the tree.  Inside it is a prize coupon – ranging from Knorr Crab and Corn Soup, Coke in Can to Lucky Charm.  Prizes were redeemed by the shoppers right on the spot.

Chinese Dragon and Lion Dance

The Chinese Dragon and Lion Dance were conducted simultaneously at all SM Supermalls in welcome of the Chinese New Year.

Animangakuen Cosplayers at SM City Lipa Event Center

Cosplay had been going on for a long while now, and now it has officially hit Lipa City!

In comes Animangakuen, a Lipa-based J-fan organization, launched April 14, 2012, at SM City Lipa Event Center by a band of De La Salle Lipa college students along with their awesome Sensei.

The whole thing was a real pain to deal with at the start: shedding money for props, shedding time for meetings and practice, shedding sleep for thinking, and did I mention shedding money? I could remember us practicing how to walk like real models in our friend’s dormitory, while a pesky dog kept on cutely annoying us.

In the end, we scrapped the model walk and just went into in-character mode~

We only had a handful of cosplayers then, though. Anyways, I’d like to share the cosplays me and Cherie had during this awesome event:

The first costume I put on was my School Rumble! uniform. This was chronologically my Yakumo Tsukamoto cosplay, but since my hair had grown and I don’t want to cut it, I look like a less convincing Yakumo.

Anyways, for the Cosplay Info, Yakumo Tsukamoto is the younger (Yes, younger) sister of Tenma in the anime School Rumble! She’s the picture of a true Yamato Nadeshiko, living to serve her family first. She’s demure and polite, plus, she excels in everything she does.

Next cosplay is Lisianthus Eustoma from Shuffle!, by Cherie. I don’t know much about Shia, but then, she’s supposed to be a bit of a failure with magic, but a good cook.

Right after that is my portrayal of Sunako Nakahara fromYamato Nadeshiko. Sunako is a hikkikomori who have some macabre tastes, hanging out with anatomy-teaching instruments namely Akira, John and Josephine in her room.

Next would be Minatsuki Takami from Deadman Wonderland by Cherie. This one is a masked sadist who pretends to be kind and shy around people. I don’t know much about her, but I really think that the costume is cute.

Another of my cosplays would Anna Kyoyama from Shaman King. She’s Yoh Asakura’s wife, and a spirit medium. With her beads (I obviously don’t have them here, lost them in the heaps of costumes inside the dressing room), she can call onto different spirits.

This is Cherie’s latest cosplay, Ling Xiaoyu from Tekken 5 (it’s the Tekken 5 costume). Xiaoyu went to Mishima Polytechnic with Jin Kazama if I’m not mistaken, and she’s Chinese. She also fights using Hakke Sho and Hika Ken (thank you tekkenpedia~).

Next and last would be my Alisa Bosconovitch costume. This one, I’m not that proud of the costume since it’s quiet… ughhh, and the wig was self-dress… so yeah… but then, it looks pretty decent, especially with the props. Kudos to Wataru for my jet pack, but I made the chainsaws myself, with the help of my mom and my boyfriend (thanks guys!). Alisa is a cyborg from Russia who is kind and cheerful, but was made solely to protect Jin Kazama. She appears in Tekken 6 and the movie Tekken: Blood Vengeance with Xiaoyu.
