Da quanto tempo manco nel mio adorato – e non letto, o piuttosto poco letto – comunque cos’è successo ultimamente nella vita della fille de poche….poche righe non basterebbero…allora FORSE ho dato una svolta alla mia vita, ho finalmente colto l’attimo e mr. keating sa se per il momento ne è valsa la pena e poi oggi la vita mi ha dato una soddisfazione enorme….dio….se la vita lo facesse un po’ più spesso…beh, una stonza stitica nello spirito e nell’anima – fraulein rottermaier, ma senza ripensamenti - è stata bastonata per una volta dalla Sra. vita….beh, Mrs. Life La ringrazio di vero cuore…basta essere perfida………forse finalmente cupido/eros mi sta dando trattando come si deve…uff, speriamo bene…se a questo si aggiunge l’avvento di gina dina nella mia vita…mi viene da ripetere solo “hello tomorrow”….w grimilde!

Andre Herman Dune – Smalltown Boy

Just heard it on Skins during a clip I was watching. And for your convenience I’ll even add the video so you can hear the song.

Jimmy Somerville interprète une version piano-voix de “Smalltown boy” lors de l’émission “Vivement dimanche” diffusée en mars 2007 sur France 2.
Promotion de la tournée RFM Party 80 à laquelle Jimmy a participé pour quelques dates.
Pour l’anecdote, il fait “chut” aux jumelles de Lio qui, paraît-il, étaient très bavardes!

Jimmy Somerville interprets a version piano-voice of ” Smalltown boy” at the time of l’ emission ” Highly dimanche” diffused in March 2007 on France 2. Promotion of the round RFM Party 80 in which Jimmy took part for some dates. For l’ anecdote, it makes ” chut” with the binoculars of Lio which, appears it, were very talkative! Recorded and uploadé by my care.

A week or so we posted the Jose Gonzales version of this and now this gets played on Skins in the UK… freaky shit.

Nothing new here the EP came out in 07 but as we weren’t about then, I felt i needed to  stick up the wonderfull B side that was on the 7″ and the Todd Terje remix. The B side is actually a cover of the classic Bronski Beat(pictured) – Smalltown Boy and this guy really does it justice. Todd Terje’s remix doesn’t need an introduction.

J’ai grandi en l’écoutant à la radio, le voyant à la télé, l’entendant sur la platine familiale et cette voix… comment dire… comment trouver les mots justes (copyright je sais plus qui (ou quoi) )… je la trouve magnifique, touchante et marquante. J’ai toujours aimé et dès qu’il a sorti un album avec ses meilleurs titres, toutes périodes confondues, j’ai foncé l’acheter. Que du bonheur.

Petite entorse… parce que vous savez quoi ? Ben moi, ce que je préfère chez Bronski Beat, c’est Jimmy Somerville… alors quand il change de crèmerie, je fais pareil :

H: How was your weekend with super L?

A: We agreed not to talk about this.

H: Was he being his super-intelligtent, super-cultured self again? Was he? Got his other lovers involved? Made you all come? Made you happy? 

A: You’re drunk. 

H: Excuse me, miss A. For trying to cope.

Forse il nome non ti dice nulla, soprattutto se sei abbastanza giovane. I Bronski Beat sono stati un trio di successo del genere synth pop britannico negli anni 1980. Nelle loro canzono emergeva una forte connotazione e riferimenti al mondo gay e alla sue rivendicazioni, soprattutto nell’album The Age of Consent (L’età del consenso). I componenti della band nel periodo di maggior successo erano:

- Jimmy Somerville (tastiere)
- Steve Bronski (percussioni)
- Larry Steinbacheck (cori)

La loro band si è formata nel 1983 e il loro debutto avviene l’anno successivo con il famosissimo singolo Smalltown Boy (la canzone parla della storia di un ragazzo allontanato dalla propria famiglia e dal proprio paese per il suo essere gay). Il video che raggiunge il terzo posto nelle classifiche del regno unito è girato allo stesso Sommerville, che ne è protagonista. Questa canzone è stata definita da un critico musicale come “la canzone più gay mai incisa”.

Sommerville lascerà poi la band e formerà un nuovo gruppo, i “The Communards“. I Bronski Beat cercheranno di rimpiazzare Sommerville con John Foster con cui incederanno l’album Truthdare Doubledare, ultima pubblicazione prima del loro definitivo scioglimento, avvenuto nel 1995 dopo la pubblicazione di 3 album.
