The Q Series smart phones are the slimmest smartphones that can be found in this competitive market.

The Q Series smart phones are the slimmest smartphones that can be found in this competitive market. Motorola produces these phones of such design. Even though such phones are slim in design, it does not necessarily mean that the functions and features that come along with these phones are reduced or become lesser. In fact, being the latest design of phones, these phones are even more updated and of the newest applications and features being added to the phones. This article will focus on the features of this slim phone.

One of the visible features of these Q series smart phones is the slim and slender body design of this phone. Due to its small size, this phone is actually very light. The advantage of this design is that when one carries this phone around, it is not heavy at all and also due to its slimness, one can easily put in pockets or anywhere to bring around, even though of the slender design of this phone, the battery cover does not come out easily. The operating system of this smart phone is the Windows Mobile, and thus this application is rather user friendly.

The keypad found on this phone is flat and even making it easy for user to type or message one another. Not only that, the navigation keys are set and built at a higher degree and angle than the rest of the keypad. This ensures that the user can navigate around the phone’s features and applications easily using these navigations keys. This feature definitely makes it very convenient for the user.

These smart phones also act as multimedia players to store all sorts of media files. One can watch video, movies and even hear music. The slim design of this phone is really an innovative creation.

The Television screams at us multiple times daily on who has the ‘Best 3G Coverage’ or t

The Television screams at us multiple times daily on who has the ‘Best 3G Coverage’ or the ‘Most Reliable 3G network’ in the U.S. and each of the carriers who tout this are correct and incorrect. Confused?

So, who do you believe? Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile…. Are they all lying about how great their networks are? Not so fast my friends; each network has strengths and weaknesses and it’s all based on where YOU use your phone. Verizon and AT&T are battling on the television and the courts on who has the best network, but it’s generally accepted by most consumers that Verizon outpaces the others in network coverage.

With that being said, the coverage area of each wireless carrier usually works well in the core urban jungles of the largest U.S. cities, but AT&T does struggle with network access and speed in some of the markets where the iPhone has high adoption rates such as New York and San Francisco. T-Mobile typically loses luster when you travel into more rural america, but works fine for most city dwellers. Sprint/Nextel has mixed reviews amongst consumers and Verizon seems to be the best. BUT….it truly is dependent on where you are, how you use your phone, and the type of device or smartphone you are using.

Since all this is clear as mud, I suggest you trying out a new network before you make a change and start with whether it works where you live and work. You will also want to check out the carrier’s return policy which is usually 14 days so you can try it before you buy it so you don’t get any unexpected surprises.

Which is more appropriate for the Travel Industry? Since the launch of Apple’s iPhone the mobi

Which is more appropriate for the Travel Industry?

Since the launch of Apple’s iPhone the mobile industry has been in a state of flux. It has witnessed lot of innovations since then. Today, more choices are available to the user than ever before which has resulted in a fragmented market. It has complicated matters for every organization which wants to reach out to their consumers through mobile devices. There are too many platforms to be supported and there is no standardization. Some industry segments have not made any significant move to reach out to their consumer through mobile platform and are playing a waiting game – waiting for the technology to mature. However, the travel industry cannot afford to do that.

A mobile phone is a personal device – more personal than the “personal” computer. You might lend your PC to coworker or a friend for few hours but can you imagine lending your mobile phone?

Travel is also a personal activity. Nobody else can do it for you. Unlike retail shopping you cannot get your friend or family member to do it for you. Though you might get somebody to do the planning for you, it is necessary for you to be aware of the logistics when you travel.

So, the match between travel and mobile seems to be a match made in heaven where a personal device meets a personal activity. Naturally, there is a lot of interest in travel industry on reaching out to the customer through the mobile. In this fragmented technology scenario, one of the following two strategies can be followed.

Take the shortcut and extend your web site and make it accessible from the browser in the mobile phone

Do it the hard way by incurring the cost of developing a native application for multiple mobile platforms

Advantages of Browser Based Mobile Application (Mobile Web)

The variability across different types of handset is minimal compared to mobile application. You have to take care of only browser specific differences and the difference of screen size – unlike mobile app where the total programming environment including the programming language is different

No need for the user to download and install any application on the handset – this can be a stumbling block for first time user

The existing web site with modifications can be extended to the mobile – unlike mobile app where the application has to be develop ground up

Advantages of Native Mobile Application (Mobile App)

The application can be location aware – unlike a mobile web application which do not have access the location information

Offline working is possible – availability of internet connection and bandwidth cannot yet be taken for granted, especially for a traveler

Can access the native mobile functionality like phone book, calendar & camera – for an application to be effective on a device which is personal, it needs to interface with functionalities which gives the device the personal flavor

What about a Hybrid Approach?

There are several possibilities:

Invoke the browser for the native application and show a specific web page – the problem is you lose control

Make a browser instance within your application and show the page – you have better control but all mobiles do not support this feature

None of these alternatives reduce the headache of having to maintain different applications for different platform.

A way forward in the future may be to access handset specific functionality from the browser through browser plug-in? Please correct me if I am wrong, but to the best of my knowledge it is not possible yet.

What is the Future?

Though predicting the future is always hazardous, the following can be predicted without too much risk.

Smart phones will become much more powerful

Network access speeds will become faster

Touch screen and multi-touch will become standard

Mobile will remain a personal device and it will become an extension of us

Unlike PC, which can be thought of as a dumb terminal accessing applications in the cloud, mobile phones cannot be treated that way. It already behaves as an extension of our memory and it is also going to act as our identity.

So, the conclusion – I do not see native mobile applications going away – especially when we are on the move!

Men cudos alligevel.

Phones have become a necessity today, with most of the population using them. The industrial revolution has made these phones to be structured in a manner to save resources, on the manufacturer’s side as well at the user’s side. Touch phones are one such developed model that brings a revolutionary change in the mobile fraternity. They have LCD screen that can be accessed from fingers or a stick provided with the phone and thus are addressed as touch phones. The first of its kind touch phone was made by IBM in 1992. It had several features that the touch phones of today possess, but that model had a black & white display, indicating towards further modifications.

The main feature of a Touch phone is its screen. It is such an exquisite piece of artistic conclusions that it does not leave a blink of touch, unnoticed. The touch phone, in true sense has no other accessory that is as important as the screen and the most expensive too. Due to these elegant features, the cost of the touch phone was a bit higher. The initial touch phones were very high in price and thus were out of reach of the common public. The superb functionality keyboard, styled options, minimum button accommodation and QWERT virtual key button make the new touch phones conspicuously ahead of their time. Today, the electronic giants are concentrating on decreasing the cost of these touch phones and making them available for the general public. Blackberry, Apple, Nokia, LG and Samsung are some big names that have developed some superb quality applications.

Apple iPhone is one of the many available touch phones. The best touch phone reviews state that the features of this phone are far ahead of its time. The zooming functionality, exclusive Apple ear plugs that provide the best, proven voice and the stylish look makes it a treat to use. AT&T laboratories developed this phone and have included some unique user friendly features in it that incorporate the phone in the category of artistic innovations.

The video below from TechnoBuffalo tests them side by side and you can see them in action; how will they stack up? I think in the end it’s a draw as both are amazing devices and each has some attributes that will suit individual users more than the other smartphone. Well, let’s cue up the video and check it out:

For over 10 years I was a Alltel customer in North Carolina. Their mobile service was wonderful, but there choice of phones was somewhat lacking, particularly in the smart phone department. When Verizon purchased Altell I was one of the first customer to move over to Big Red. By then Google had announced their intentions to release a mobile phone operating system known as Android. As I was already a fan boy of Google, I was over the moon about the idea of soon owning a Google Phone! Imagine my dismay when the first Android device landed at T-Mobile instead of Verizon. Much grumbling was issued under my breath I can assure you.

Last month Verizon released their first Android device known as the Droid. (cue the heavens opening and the angels singing!) I have been the proud owner of my Droid for a little over 2 weeks now. My impressions thus far is that it is a solid built phone. Coming from Motorola I would expect nothing less.

So lets talk about the negatives of the phone.

The physical keyboard is somewhat lacking. My previous phone was a Blackberry 8330, so getting used to the physical spacing of the keys as well as the layout of the keys themselves has been a learning curve. It is also true that the keys give little feedback to you when pressing them.

The droid comes with a micro USB connection for charging and/or connection the phone to your computer. Not a major drawback, but you I just get tired of having to toss my car charger every time I switch phones.

I have noticed a lag in the screen rotating when moving the phone’s screen from portrait to landscape mode. It does not always occur, but another minor annoyance. I have also noticed an issue with the screen reacting to my touch inside of the screen text input boxes. This problem seems more prone to occur when using the screen in landscape mode.

Now for the pluses, and man are there pluses!

The 854 x 480 screen is absolutely one of the highest resolution screens on any phone on the market today. I own a Ipod Touch, and I must say that between the two Droid wins hands down! Watching videos on this screen is a joy.

The onscreen keyboard is great. Currently, it does not support multi touch, but if you believe the rumors an update to the firmware in the next month or two will take care of that. Other than that, I believe this keyboard is as good as Apple’s iPod Touch or iPhone keyboard.

The built 5mp camera takes descent photos. Motorola fixed the issue of blurry photos with a recent firmware update. The dual LED flash can be sometimes overbearing, but does a pretty decent job in most situations.

As for the video the Droid can record… outstanding! Don’t get me wrong its not what you would want to use to record your wedding with, but for those quick moment videos, junior hits his first home run at a little league game, you would be hard to find any other phone that captures video as great as this one does.

If you use any of Google’s apps, such as Gmail, Calendar, or Google Apps this is the phone for you. Droid syncs seamlessly with your Gmail and Calendar accounts. Simply type in your Google Accounts info, and within minutes it has synced your mail and calendar.

The default contacts app on the Droid phone can not only sync and display your Google contacts, but also can do so with your Facebook account as well. If the contact is Facebook based, the contact app will also display the contact’s current news feed within the contact’s details.

I have browsed the Android Market, and I am impressed with the apps that are available considering the Android operating system has only been in public use for a little over a year. Some of my favorite apps either from Apple or Blackberry have not made the crossover to Android yet, but I have found some substitute apps to use until they do. One app I have found particularly amazing is Google’s sky mapping app. For anyone remotely interested in knowing what the bright little dots are in the sky over your head at night this app is sure to please. Turn on the app, point your phone toward any point in the sky, and Google Sky will show you what each star is. Move you phone left, right, up or down, and Google Maps will rotate the sky shown on Droid’s screen with you! Want to know what stars you might see in the next hour or so? No problem. Google Sky will show you. Just move you phone down so that it is pointed below the horizon of the sky. It will display the stars below the horizon as well! Hard to believe I can do things like this with a phone, and software that is free!

My conclusion? I love this phone! Sure it is the first in a long line of phones that will increasingly become better as the Android operating system evolves, its physical keyboard leaves something to be desired, and the current selection of apps is minimal compared to what you can get on the iPhone. I believe in within the next year many of these issues will be resolved and the Droid line of phones will become the ‘must have’ smart phone.

With the Sprint-Nextel merger reportedly off the table, Deutsche Telekom (DT), T-Mobile U.S. parent

With the Sprint-Nextel merger reportedly off the table, Deutsche Telekom (DT), T-Mobile U.S. parent company is seeking partners to help finance its network expansion. T-Mobile is building out its 3G network with plans to upgrade its network to HSPA+ to handle the burgeoning growth in mobile data.

The German telecom giant is reporting looking at AT&T Mobility, Clearwire, and MetroPCS as possible partners – at first blush, the obvious choice is AT&T as both have the same GSM technology and seem to be migrating to 4G along the same path. On the flip side, both Clearwire and Metro PCS are potential partners due to significant spectrum holdings; technology issues may preclude the latter 2 as Clearwire is using WiMAX and MetroPCS CDMA which aren’t compatible with T-Mobile’s GSM/EDGE/HSPA+ network infrastructure. The view that DT may be using Clearwire and MetroPCS spectrum to build out it’s 4G network and it’s deep pockets may just make this a reality.

All of this comes on the heels of Q3 results showing T-Mobile further losing ground to Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint, with their struggles more apparent with losing 77,000 subscribers in the quarter; DT isn’t known for sitting idly by while they lose market share, so expect something to transpire soon.

T-Mobile is banking on new, low-cost, unlimited plans plus new Android smartphones such as the Motorola Cliq to stem the losses; will it be enough to get them competitive with the other, much larger competitors?

The Social Media era is rolling along quite nicely over the last year or so and it seems everyone is

The Social Media era is rolling along quite nicely over the last year or so and it seems everyone is scrambling to figure out the best way to handle all the Facebook updates, Tweets, LinkedIn connections, You Tube Video’s, and all the great tools for promoting your business.

In the same time frame, the smartphone revolution is also in high gear with the Droid revolution dominating the industry news and creating a huge buzz for the wireless carriers. It seems everyone is getting an iPhone, Droid, BlackBerry, Palm Pre, etc. and the appetite for them in the U.S. is voracious; take a look around and smartphones are everywhere.

Recent conversations with a variety of small business owners have centered around how to handle the time that’s necessary to manage all this Social Media ’stuff.’ They lament they barely have time for email, much less be able to take the time to update their Facebook Fan Page, Tweet, add LinkedIn connections, write their blog, etc. I fully understand their dilemma as Social Media does take time to manage; there are many wonderful automated tools to make it easier, but I think one of the best tools for the small business is already in their hands. Their smartphone.

Smartphones allow you to update your Social Media sites with relative ease; there is Facebook Mobile for a variety of devices, send Tweets, check LinkedIn, and even write your blog. The new Motorola Cliq uses Motoblur software to aggregate all your Social Media in one easy to use area on the Android-powered smartphone. There are many different variations in the iPhone, BlackBerry, Palm Pre, and all the new Android devices flooding the market to manage and keep your Social Media content fresh and insightful.

“Smart’ Social Media Solutions take a solid plan with benchmarks and must be measurable in order to help branding, increase market penetration, and monetize these efforts; smartphones are a great tool to help make this a reality. Think of it this way; you carry a smartphone for email, etc. so you manage your email, etc. as it comes. You now can do this with your Social Media in small, manageable bites.

This blog is brought to you by my smartphone; gotta love it.

Mobile technology has been one of the fastest developing items, in the current times. Today, people

Mobile technology has been one of the fastest developing items, in the current times. Today, people can not imagine their lives without a handset. This has become one such commodity that people cannot walk without. They can leave back their wallets while leaving the house, but not their mobile phones. The main drawback with the mobile phones of the last century was their inability to access internet. They had all the other features but the internet access was lacking. Besides, they also lacked the features of entrepreneurs’ access as the Excel sheets and online money transfer. The manufacturers had this portfolio in their minds, and soon emerged the revolutionary, stylish, full of added-features- new Smart Phone. It delivered all the expected features and many more to accredit.

A best smartphone can be termed as a sibling to the mobile phone with some additional features that make it distinctly ahead. It also had features that the Personal Computers possess and thus it can be termed as a mediocre between the normal handset and the computer. They normally have an inbuilt interface in the form of an operating system that serves as a platform for all the applications to run. It is like a normal phone, with some very advanced features such as e-mail function, net access, e books reader, full length keyboard, USB connectivity, Bluetooth, IR etc.

The best new touch phone reviews say that the main difference is that of built up and the features in these phones. It is just a phase of evolution that we are seeing these smart phones. Going down the lane, we can have even more evolved machines that are much smaller in size, may attain excellent level of functionality and which may not be included in the category of phones any more. They may be an additional asset which may have clouded applications to show you the unique world of connectivity

The defacto standard on smart phone keyboards are QWERTY. The layout was derived from the traditional desktop keyboard and so the mobile user can easily make the finger to thumb transition when on the fly. Those days may be a thing of the past. Swype Inc. is set to debut a new technology that doesn’t isn’t your run of the mill clicking/pressing of miniature buttons on your touchscreen phone’s soft-keyboard.

Instead of tapping, you use your finger to “swipe” from letter to letter to increase typing speed.

Let’s watch a video shall we?

Does it make you want it in your precious iPhone? You can’t have it. The technology will arrive in Samsung’s Omnia II touchscreen smart phone on Verizon. The Omnia II goes on sale December 2, so it isn’t long before we start “swyping.”

In North America, research has proven that the number of smart phones being sold has increased tremendously. This reflects the rise in demand for such high technology phones. In other words, such phones are popular among users, and the market for this product is profitable. The introduction of the I Phones and the Blackberry phones is in fact the main cause that leads to the high demand of such smart phones by people, and thus increasing the sales rapidly in North America.

During the first quarter of the year, more than 1.5 million of I Phones have been sold. As a result, Apple’s international market share for such phones has increased to more than 5 percent, which is a very remarkable result. The very first version of I Phones was actually introduced in the United States to test the market demand.

Even though there was economic recession worldwide, it did not hinder or affect the progress of the market of the smart phone industry. Demand for such phones has been on the rise in the United States, even though economic problems still exist. In North America, at least 7 million of these mobile phones were being sold. All these sales were due to the influence of powerful marketing and effective advertising.

The overall sales of the world smart phone market have also increased. The overall international sales for these phones were more than 30 million sets. The rapid increase in the sale of these phones in North America contributed at least half of that figure for international sales. The leader for this market is Nokia but with the increasing number of competitors, Nokia has to ensure that its smart phones are of the latest versions with newly added applications to the phones, so as to stay competitive in this market.

As technology keeps on advancing, the development of new smart phones keeps on increasing. With a wide range of phones existing in the mobile market, which type of smart phones should one buy that can suit one’s mobile needs? This article will show you the way.

The first step would be to conduct online research through websites, which consists of topics ranging from the latest news of mobile phones and also its evaluations. One will be able to find out a lot of information. You can read the evaluations of customers on the websites who have previously or currently using the phones. One can thus get in depth information about the various phones before deciding to buy one that suits one’s needs the best.

The next step would be to know in details about the operating systems that run in the mobile phones. For instance, there was a time that this operating system – Windows Mobile 6.x existed but within two years, a better and updated version of this operating system is being created. For the current market, the latest operating system will be the Android from Google. Knowing the different operating systems of mobile phones will ensure one to know which operating system they prefer, and thus leading to their choice of phones.

The last step would be to know more about you before getting the phone. One should determine the budget that one has, as well as to know the purpose of buying such phone. If you have a tight budget, perhaps you can only buy smartphones with limited functions and an older version. One also has to know one’s purpose in buying the phone, which include either for work purposes, games purposes or even communicating purposes. Each smart phone has different features that suit to different needs.
