Wir arbeiten derzeit gerade an neuen Comics von Super Smash Bros.. Mit SSBU (Super Smash Brothers Umega) haben wir auf eine Geschichte aufgebaut, die es zuvor bereits in Videoform gab, jedoch leider nicht vollständig veröffentlicht wurde. Das wollen wir jetzt ändern, die “erste Staffel” SSBZ (Z für Zero) wird jetzt als Comic remaked. Wir haben durch SSBU erste Erfahrung gesammelt und wollen jetzt, immer wenn Zeit ist, ein neues Comic raushauen!

Este año para The Offspring no es uno cualquiera. Cumplen su aniversario. Y es que hacen un cuarto de siglo en el mundo de la música. Hace poco dieron una entrevista, haciendo una recopilación de los 25 años de su trayectoria en el mundo de la música.  Hacen un resumen de sus mejores años, aquellos momentos en el que se convirtieron junto a otros grandes referentes de la música del punk-rock como Green Day, en la ola musical del momento. Ya con la publicación de su primer disco Smash en 1994, se hicieron con disco independiente más vendido en toda la historia. Han trabajado con varias compañías pero siempre cosechando los mismo éxitos. Lo que no se duda, es que para ellos, a pesar del transcurso de los años, no les afecta en absoluto. Siguen con el mismo espíritu, las mismas ganas y con los mismo sueños. Son, como Noodles dice “grandes chavales con ganas de diversión”.

A continuación le adjuntamos la entrevista que concedieron a la Vanguardia el pasado agosto:

-El single de vuestro último álbum, Stuff is messed up [traducible por algo así como "la cosa está jodida"], tiene un mensaje muy crítico. ¿Por qué?
-¡Es que la cosa está jodida! Tenemos dos guerras en marcha, la economía está en crisis, hemos tenido huracanes y tsunamis que han destruido lugares y parece que la gente no ha sabido como reaccionar de modo que se pudieran salvar vidas. A todo esto se suma la traición de los medios de comunicación. Britney Spears se afeita la cabeza y se pasan una semana informando. Es de locos.

-¿De quién es la responsabilidad?
-Reconozco que yo también soy culpable, porque veo las cadenas de 24 horas de noticias y quiero saber si realmente Michael Jackson es el padre de esos dos niños. Pero es que hay gente que se pasa todo el rato gritando sobre esto. Vale, hablemos de ello, pero sigamos adelante.

-¿Sigue siendo California un buen lugar para comenzar una banda?
-Creo que sí. Nosotros crecimos en el condado de Orange, un lugar muy conservador, mientras que Los Ángeles es mucho más liberal. Nosotros nos liberamos contra ese conservadurismo. Todavía hay clubs donde tocan las bandas, como el club Chain Reaction, que se ha convertido en algo parecido al Gilman Street de Berkeley. Todavía hay un montón de lugares donde tocar.

-¿Cómo nació The Offspring?
-En el garaje de Dexter [líder y cantante de la banda]. También tocamos un par de veces en mi sala de estar, pero la mayoría de las veces íbamos a casa de Greg. Íbamos los viernes por la tarde con un puñado de cervezas hasta que venía la policía y nos obligaba a callar.

-Y sacasteis un disco…
-Hicimos mil copias del primer álbum y al final tuvimos que regalarlas a nuestros amigos.

-¿Érais unos rebeldes?
-Entonces ya pensábamos que las cosas estaban bastante jodidas. El pop rock cambió cosas… O quizás sólo gritábamos sobre esos cambios, sobre lo que estaba jodido y esas cosas. Nos sentíamos totalmente marginados, sin poder para cambiar nuestras vidas en esa parte tan conservadora del país. Pero lo hicimos, nos rebelamos contra todo ello.

-Formasteis parte de todo un movimiento.
-No sé si realmente fuimos parte de ello. Actuamos con un puñado de bandas de hardcore, pero nosotros éramos un poco distinto, un poco más melódicos. Nos encantaban los Dead Kennedys cuando escribían canciones como Holidays in Cambodia o California über alles.

-¿Cómo ha cambiado vuestra música desde entonces?
-Cuanto más tocamos, más nos gusta explorar distintas áreas musicales para mantener la diversión y la frescura. Al mismo tiempo, intentamos mantener lo bueno de nuestra banda, que es la energía, para ponerla en diferentes tipos de música.

-¿Cómo se puede mantener el espíritu anti-sistema después de vender millones de discos a través de una multinacional?
-No lo sé. Lo que hacemos es seguir gritando y dar alaridos. Es distinto que ir a trabajar a un banco o para un abogado. Salir cada noche al escenario y no estar en una oficina nos mantiene jóvenes.

-¿Seguís siendo independientes pese a trabajar para una filial de Sony?
-Sí, totalmente. Nunca nos han dicho que cambiáramos nada de lo que hemos hecho. Nunca ¿sabes? Las cosas podrían volver a cambiar porque ya no se venden discos y a las discográficas no les van bien las cosas, así que podrían volverse más cuidadosas con lo que sacan al mercado. O también puede ser que pase a importarles todo una mierda… ¡Jajaja!

-¿Las grandes discográficas también necesitan bandas independientes?
-Cuando nosotros aparecimos, Nirvana se acababa de romper. Nirvana era algo totalmente distinto al resto de la música producida masiva y corporativamente. Entonces se hacía básicamente pop, hasta que llegó Nirvana y lo cambió todo. Las radios nunca lo vieron porque pensaban que Nirvana nunca llegaría a ningún sitio. Hasta que un día un tío apostó por ellos. Y entonces empezaron a salir todas estas bandas y el punk resurgió.

-¿Visteis que ahí también había negocio?
-Las compañías conseguían cada vez menos intentando crear bandas, un método del que salen grupos como 98 degrees y todas esas bandas de chicos. Esto sigue existiendo, pero las discográficas también tienen que escuchar a las bandas que ya están haciendo dinero. Cuando nosotros firmamos con Sony teníamos 3 discos y habíamos vendido 12 o 13 millones de discos, así que no iban a venir y decirnos qué teníamos que hacer.

-¿Todavía hacéis lo que queréis?
-Sí. La única vez que hemos tenido problemas con la discográfica es cuando quisimos poner nuestro disco en nuestra web para que se lo descargaran los fans. Visto con perspectiva, lo entiendo. Ahora no se venden discos y los amigos se los pasan unos a otros, pero así es el mundo.

-Mucha gente piensa que los discos eran demasiado caros y que el dinero se había a la promoción de estrellas sin calidades musicales. ¿Qué opinas?
-Sí, los CDs claro que eran demasiado caros. Su producción no es tan costosa y ahora han bajado un montón. Así que, sí, creo que fueron muy lentos en enterarse de qué iba la cosa en Internet. Sólo intentaron combatirlo, combatirlo y combatirlo… Cuando, en realidad, deberían de haber estado intentando descubrir como hacer que funcionara a su favor.

-¿Están aprendiendo a través plataformas como iTunes?
-Sí, quizás poco y tarde. Itunes es un gran invento, pero yo crecí gastándome todo mi dinero en discos. Creo que la música tiene valor.

-¿Culpáis a la gente que se descarga música por internet?
-No, no lo hago. Es demasiado fácil. Yo también grababa casetes para mis amigos y sólo compraba un disco cuando me gustaba.

-¿Cómo escuchas música?
-Normalmente la descargo gratuitamente en mi ordenador… ¡¡Jajaja!! Tengo algo parecido al iPod, que se llamar Request y lo tengo conectado el iTunes de mi ordenador.

-En su momento os pronunciasteis a favor de Napster. ¿Seguís apoyando las actuales plataformas de intercambio de archivos?
-¿Qué se supone que tengo que hacer? ¿No estar de acuerdo? O descubres como hacer que Internet funcione a tu favor o nadas a contracorriente y no vas a llegar a ningún lado. No culpo a los niños y a los fans por conseguir música gratis. Los fans mayores sí comprarán, pero por qué iban a hacerlo los más jóvenes si pueden conseguirlo en Internet.

-Vuestro público es muy joven…
-Sí, eso mola.

-¿Cómo lo conseguís?
-No tengo ni idea. Sólo se necesitan un par de canciones para conseguir que los chavales vuelvan a estar interesados. Sólo intentamos hacer las mejores canciones que podemos. Hacer lo que hacemos para vivir y divertirnos nos mantiene jóvenes.

-¿Así que, aunque empezasteis hace 25 años, todavía veis al público dando saltos en vuestros conciertos?
-Sí, claro. Y yo también los doy. Todavía no voy en caminador… ¡Jajaja!

Wer hätte das gedacht , die Xbox 360 ist genau wie die Wii ein echter Frauenmagnet. Hätte wirklich nicht erwartet das Frauen so viel Ahnung von Konsolen haben .

Yes, I do!  I love house concerts.  I think  I was probably made to give house concerts.  Dimly lit.  Like with candles and 4 watt light bulbs.  Night lights really.  The kind you plug in when you have guests visiting from out of town.  A big Thank You to everyone who came out to Bonita and Keith Crowe’s House concert and welcomed me.  Of course, the wine didn’t hurt either.  I drank a nice little Shiraz.  This last Saturday night I opened up the Tamarindo House concert series for Rod Picott and Amanda Shires.  They were the real deal.  I sang a quick 4 songs, sat down and shut the heck up to  listen to the seasoned pros.  Very good show.  All night long I was  thinking “why didn’t i think of that line, and that one and that one….”.  It was one of those nights.  Great lyrics, great singing, great playing…..you get the picture.

On Saturday morning I met with Chad Elliot and Bonita and Keith Crowe to finalize a big show we’re gonna put on in January.  Chad and I are going to spend an evening trading songs on stage at People’s on Court Ave in Des Moines.  Now this is typically a Rock and Roll venue, but on Saturday January 16, 2010 we’re gonna go acoustic and rip out your hearts with our lyrics and melodies performed with simple acoustic guitars.  I’m pretty excited.  And as much as I love the full band shows and the duo stuff I do with James Biehn, I dream of shows like this too.  Big venue, great sound and sad songs.  Mmmmmm.  They won’t all be sad, don’t worry.  Heck, half of ‘em will be about…..well, I wrote ‘em, if that’s a hint.  No shame.

I played the Indoor Des Moines Winter Farmers Market last Friday.  That was fun.  I got to bring out the Christmas songs.  I love Christmas music and of course I do them all my own way so you can’t figure out what song I’m singing until I get to the chorus.  It’s the only way I know how people……no one needs me up there singing “Jingle Bells” just like you’ve heard it a million times.  No one.  I like to find the obscure Christmas stuff anyway.

Garrett Cornelison refused to tell me the big renaming secret for the last month.  Whatevs.  You secret keeper.  Smash is now Raygun.  You got nuthin’ on me now Garrett…..Cool new name!!

Well, what a strange, but dramatic, couple of days I’ve had. My car has been wrecked, my nephew was taken into hospital again with febrile convulsions (he’s home now and doing well) and the stair I live in has seen more excitement than a years worth of Eastenders.

One of my neighbours, who I’d previously considered to be a bit ‘dotty’, for want of a better word, decided at 2.30am yesterday morning to completely snap and cause chaos in the grand olde gardens of Dumbryden. She rampaged up the stair, kicking all the residents doors as loudly as she could (waking my son in the process). After I went out and shouted at her, she then felt the urge to smash someone’s kitchen window – with a turnip!!! After she did that, her next move was to destroy my car with a stairgate. And credit where credit is due, she did a very good job of it!! My rear windscreen was completely smashed, the front, not much better. Tyres were slashed, windscreen wipers snapped off and the bodywork was deeply scratched, thanks to a pair of pliers (which she then decided to leave in the shell of my car).

Since her apprehension, and very swift release, she has also smeared excrement on my next door neighour’s front door, and assaulted another neighbour, who subsequently was taken away in an ambulance. Can you see the comparison to Eastenders now?

I have to admit to being concerned about this abrupt turn of events. Not only am I worried about this maniac being anywhere near me or my children, there is also the issue of me being carless. My car is very much an essential part of my life. Without it I’m struggling to take my kids to school and nursery. Without it, I’m unable to then get to university on time for classes. Without it, I can’t get my shopping (I’m such a weakling I can’t carry much).

In a single stroke, Mrs Crazy has completely turned my schedule upside-down, caused difficulties for myself, my kids and my other neighbours. I must be an optimist though, because I’ve noticed that in the last 36 hours, as well as having a madwoman downstairs, I actually have a lot of good neighbours. We’ve banded together in the face of an all-out attack, swapped phone numbers and have actually started chatting more than we ever did before. As for the car, well, that’s become a casualty of war, but hopefully with a bit of TLC it should be back in action soon.

Auf dem Game Boy Advance bekam man das, was zu SNES Zeiten nicht mehr entwickelt worden war, weil die 3D Generation in den Startlöchern war und man sich nichts mehr getraut hat. Glücklicherweise war dann 2D Grafik dank dem GBA wieder in Mode. Und so kamen auch einige Dragon Ball Spiele auf dem Handheld in den Handel. Eines der besten möchte ich euch heute vorstellen: Dragonball Advanced Adventure.

Mix aus Beat em Up Subgenres

Die Besonderheit an Dragonball Advanced Adventure war eindeutig, dass man die normale Dragonball Saga aus den Mangas und der damaligen Anime Serie nachspielen konnte. Die meisten Dragonball Spiele kommen als Beat em Up oder Rollenspiel,  bei diesem Titel entschied man sich für ersteres. Der Clou, man hatte die Mischung aus Sidescroll Beat em Up’s und typischen 1 vs. 1 Kampfspielen. Und das kam immer auf die Situation an, in der man sich befand. Beispiel: Wenn man von Muten Roshi als Schüler angenommen wird, trainiert man in typischer Side Scroll manier und sucht den Stein, bevor Krillin ihn bekommt. Im späteren

Die Story entspricht der Vorlage der Mangas

Trainingsverlauf lehrt einen dann Muten Roshi mit Hilfe von 1 vs. 1 Kämpfen, wie man diese absolviert. Der Mix hat mich damals sehr begeistert und sorgt auch heute noch für ganz schön viel Abwechslung.

GBA Grafikbombe

Man muss an dieser Stelle den Entwickler mal loben, die Grafik war für damalige Verhältnisse nämlich unheimlich gut. Die Schauplätze des Mangas sind wunderschön nachgezeichnet worden und die Charaktere wirken, wie aus den Mangas ausgeschnitten. Die Facesets sind auch sehr schön, so sieht man beispielsweise auf dem Bild link Muten Roshi, wie er im Spiel als Face-Sprite dargestellt wird. Wer das grafisch gesehen aufwändigste Dragonball Spiel für den Game Boy Advance sucht, der sollte sich hier bedienen!

Gute Musik, die aber oft wiederholt wird

Die Musik ist eines der Punkte, die nicht so gelungen eingesetzt wurde. Zwar sind die einzelnen Themes ganz schön, aber sie werden viel zu oft in den jeweiligen Leveln verwendet. Leider nervt die Musik dann auch nach der Zeit und man beginnt entweder, sie nicht mehr zu beachten, oder man stellt die Musik ganz ab. Schade um die qualitativen und guten Themes…

Eintönigkeit auch bei der Steuerung

So gut mir dieses Spiel auch gefällt, ich muss es sagen. Die Steuerung ist manchmal etwas eintönig. Im Grunde genommen haut man die ganze Zeit auf der B Taste herum um zuzuschlagen und gelegentlich springt man mit A herum. Selten nutzt man das Kame Hame Ha auf der Schlutertaste R. Schade, denn Super Smash Bros. bietet eine Steuerungsmöglichkeit, die hier mit Sicherheit auch funktioniert hätte…

Fazit: Spaß macht das Spiel allemahl, dafür muss man aber, um die Story zu kapieren, auch etwas Vorwissen mitbringen und sollte zumindest schon mal die Serie gesehen haben. Für Fans von Dragonball ist “Advanced Adventure” einer der Titel, den man, falls noch nicht gespielt, unbedingt nachholen sollte. jj

Every meal is a battle in my house, it is down to one key part of my diet. I grab the packet from the shelf and i get hisses of hate from my housemates. This is down to the potato that i decide on – Smash!. Many would agree that normal mash potato is tasty, but as i found out last week – it takes a lot longer to make therefore affecting the overall meal.

My friend and I decided to cook together, i would buy the main course and he would buy the wine. The wine was not the best – £3.49 wine from The Co-op. But combined with my cooking skills and the scent of cheap wine, the meal was coming on well. This was until I informed my friend that i was going to cook Smash as a side dish to the main course. He was not very happy with this choice,  he was sickened! He decided to make his own mash with normal potato’s and it took about 20 hours! And my Smash was ready in seconds!

Summary:

Smash is potato being 93%  Potato and the rest is goodness!

Mash takes ages and tastes horrible!

I thought I’d start a side-category called ‘Golden Oldies’ where I can put up some classic ads from the past. This one always makes me smile… stupid Earth people.

A couple of related facts:

• Viewers were not insulted at being called “a most primitive people” by the metallic creations – sales soared and the Martians received so much fan mail the agency which made the commercials, DDB, had to prepare special literature to reply to them;
• Smash was one of the ‘orphan’ brands (brands which hadn’t left the shelves but had left our minds) which was given a revamp in the noughties. Others were Cinzano and Rubiks. Interestingly… “One of the factors which unites a lot of these brands is that they had extremely iconic advertising at the time,” said Tom Blackett, of the branding consultancy Interbrand;
• Smash was made by Cadbury (now Premier Foods). Maybe that’s not news to many people but I didn’t remember that from my youth, I only remembered the laughing robots and jingle;
• The advert was voted TV ad of the century by Campaign , and 2nd best television advert of all time in a 2000 poll conducted by The Sunday Times and Channel 4.

Donde carajos estoy?

While Justin, Dez, and Rich are playing Smash… Rich goes on a pointless rant about people losing to him in video games (Bwahahahahahaha XD)

Justin: “So do you like Don losing?”

Rich: “Yeah. It’s COOL whenever Don loses.”

Well, it’s Tuesday and it was a day for me to really get things going with my school day today.  I got up a little early today and actually got up with Heather.  We made breakfast together and had some breakfast together and as Heather left for work I got in the shower and got ready for work.  The kids and I talked a little bit and then watched “The Early Show” on CBS and had an interesting talk with my girls about why violence in sports is appauling.  We then talked about hockey and why it seems that it’s an exception for some reason.  The kids made a valid point.  If they can encourage fighting in hockey, then why isn’t there fighting in soccer, football, or basketball?  Why is it taboo in some sports but not others?  An interesting point to ponder.

I got done getting ready and then I was off to work while the kids were off to school.  Today was a pretty well scripted day at work.  Students were either taking finals or reviewing for finals.  The finals that I gave seemed to go smooth and everything seemed to go well.  The reviews seemed to go good as well.   I had to take some time today to talk with the orchestra teacher about how to play the String Bass because I tried to practice yesterday, but it got ugly and it did not sound ANYTHING like the song.  I knew what it should sound like and I was not even close.  But at the end of the day I got some help and enlarged the song a little bit on the paper and put in some fingerings and now I’m doing great on the song.  It actually sounds like it’s supposed to!  I got done with that and got a call from Novall from the Mandalorian Mercs and we had a discussion about things that need to be taken care of for the group.  I have some work ahead of me there and now I’m going to need to take some time either out of my Veteran’s Day or my Thanksgiving Break to get that stuff done.  I should be able to.  Hopefully.

I got done with that and did some work in my classroom and graded some papers and then was off to SMASH rehearsal.  SMASH went well.   We worked on one routine the entire time and had fun pounding away on our 55 gallon containers.  We have a routine that’s called 55-5 (which has just become 55-6) and we have most of the routine together as of tonight.  Now we just have to get it all put into order and start practicing it with some precision.  It was a good rehearsal.  We got done and Ruth and I went home to find chaos.  Apparently Heather had dinner going and ready for the night (small meatloafs and mahsed potatoes) until Austin had decided to turn off the oven thinking that it shouldn’t be on.  He was worried about safety, but what he didn’t realize was that he turned off the oven and didnt’ let the meatloafs get cooked.  So, Heather was furious because her dinner was now almost an hour behind.  I told her to relax and that we would just not go to play rehearsal at church tonight to take the stress off of us.

So, we cooked and ate dinner together.  Then I started on a HUGE task for the evening.  I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on the desktop computer (I HATE Vista, so I hope that 7 will be worth it).  The install did not go so well last night, so I gave it another try tonight and it seemed to go well.  Before I went to bed, it was up and running and seems to run a LOT smoother than Vista.  I then went to my laptop and started the install on that tonight before I went to bed so that it could install while I was asleep overnight.  While I worked on all of that, I watched “V” and “The Good Wife” and worked on this blog.

Okay, so let’s talk about Part 3 of Chapter 14 of “Star Wars – Medstar I:  Battle Surgeons,  A Clone Wars Novel” by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry……Chapter 14 (Part 3):  On her way back to her quarters, Barris thought about the video they had just seen.  There was a rain storm in the distance and she couldn’t help but think that the rain would be relaxing and she hoped it would cool down the temperatures.  She thought about how humans are cold climate animals because they find cold climates invigorating.  She was partially impressed with the speed and fluidity of Phow Ji’s attack.  But she couldn’t help but think that it was still murder even though Ji was barehanded and it was three against one.  She wondered how many trophies Ji had collected till now and she couldn’t help how killing someone would change an individual, it changed her.  If someone killed and had a consceince, they would not want to remember it with a trophy. The Force made you a powerful fighter, but it also gave you pause that if you could do something doesn’t mean you should do that thing.  She thought that Phow Ji was a killer, but if he was touched by The Force he may be brough back to reality or he may infect her.  She couldn’t help how over-fatigued she had become since she came here.  She was hoping the rain would wash away all her bad thoughts.
