There were all sorts of goods and bads today but I’ll try to focus on the goods. Like, for example, the fact that it’s Turkey Day week!

I went ’80’s style when I got dressed today, all I needed was my old Doc Martin boots!

Now that I live in Buffalo I wear sandals every day, but when I was growing up in the Caribbean I went through an intense Doc Martin phase. I guess I like anything that’s out of season!

I was in desperate need of greens/fruits so I made a smoothie for the road.

1C frozen blackberries, a scoop of Chocolate Amazing Grass, and some skim milk. I loved how purple it got!

I arrived at school really early so I walked around with Adam for a bit before heading to my appointment.

Fun fact #1 – my leg hurts like crazy. Fun fact # 2 – according to the RN at the health center I have a varicose vein! It’s not a terrible one, and at this stage my insurance won’t cover removal. They are hereditary and my teaching career (on my feet nonstop from 7-5) is a big factor, as well as my years as a waitress. She said I need to wear support hose and supportive shoes, but wouldn’t give me information about how long that would need to happen. If a month or so will ‘fix’ me then I’m all for it, but if it’s a rest of my life thing I’d rather keep with my sandals and just have the surgery when it gets worse. I have an imaging appointment tomorrow to make sure I don’t have a blood clot and I’ll get more information then.

I’m not going to lie, it’s a good thing Adam drove me to class because I bawled all the way there. I’m able to put up with a lot of pain, but having a yucky old lady problem pisses me off! I don’t want to wear support hose! I sort of lost it. I think things will be better once I get more information tomorrow.

The good news is that physical activity can’t make it worse. I try to be very careful of injury (that’s why I took time off when the leg pain started) because I would never want to permanently side-line myself. However, I am ridiculously stubborn and am pretty good with putting up with pain. I decided last week that I would always stop running if I would cause permanent injury by not taking a break, but that if I could safely run through the pain I would do so. Therefore, 7 out of 10 leg pain be damned, half marathon training is back on!!

I recomposed myself once I got to campus, but definitely bought this bag of Jalapeno Cheddar Cheetos to ease my sorrows.

($1, Challenge Balance – $79.24 ) I ate about half the bag – go me for not just downing the whole thing.

At 6 I got more good news when Caroline showed up with her laptop, class was cancelled! Adam was already at the gym with a friend so she offered to take me home. We made a pit-stop at the mall (shopping for her bf) so that was fun.

Dinner was more good news. Delicious, all around! The first course was Dr. McDougall’s Soup.

Adam had Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato and I had Chunky Tomato.

I almost never eat ‘mater soup but I love it.

The second/main course was my newest creation.

Buffalo Blue Bean Patties, serves 4

2 15.5oz cans black beans we use low sodium

1/2 cup, plus 2T buffalo wing sauce we used the sauce from Anchor Bar, the birthplace of Buffalo wings

2 eggs

1 cup bread crumbs

3/4 cup gorgonzola cheese crumbles

salt and pepper, to season

Preheat the oven to 450*. Foil and spray a baking sheet.

Empty bean cans into a colander and rinse thoroughly – this is a heart healthy step, reduce your sodium intake.

Pour beans and 2 cups wing sauce into a blender and puree. If you have a rickety blender you may want to do this in two batches.

Empty blender into a large mixing bowl. Add rest of wing sauce and eggs, stir. Add bread crumbs, stir. Add cheese and fork to combine.

Using your hands, form 12 patties out of the bean mixture.

Put patties on prepared sheet and bake for 20minutes, it is not necessary to flip them during baking.

I ate mine with the sad remains of our ketchup (that’s a small plate).

Man they were good! I don’t want to toot my own horn, but this was such a good idea! They were also very filling, I ended up only eating 2.5.

You what what else is a good idea? The big bowl of popcorn I’m about to make! Yes, I used up the big bag of ‘corn my in-laws brought me just last month!

Have a good night folks!

What makes you feel old? I’m 24, I’m not cool with the idea of support hose! Teenage entertainment makes me feel old too, shows like “Gossip Girl” just make me uncomfortable!

I took this assessment this morning from WebMd. It helps evaluate your motivations and your weight loss ideas to see if you’re on the right track in eating well. I scored pretty well! Hopefully, I can keep it up.

For breakfast, I ate a Green Monster with acai (cost: about $1). It looked very strange with the green and the purple mixed together, but tasted okay. Here is how I made it:

1 banana

1 acai smoothie pack (acai puree)

2 handfuls of baby spinach (which you cannot taste)

1 Tbsp. flax seed

1 cup skim milk

Blend!

As you can see, I found my blender lid!

Taste: Like acai and banana.

This is what the smoothie mix looks like. I have only ever found it in the freezer aisle at the health food store.

This is my week for Julieanne, but her dad’s year for Thanksgiving, so while I will still blog, I am going to slow down and probably not post all the details for today and tomorrow so I can maximize my time with her.

Good Morning! Welcome to my <strike>Monday </strike>Thursday! Yay for 2 day work weeks.

Last night I ended up having my smoothie and grape nuts.

I used a new Greek yogurt and give it a 10!

I have had Brown Cow regular yogurt and have really enjoyed the flavor so I thought I would give this a try because the store I went to did not have Oikos. No artificial growth hormones and they give back to the planet!

Smoothie with Brown Cow Greek yogurt, skim, frozen berries and heated grape nuts.

This morning my belly was still feeling a little off…this better be fixed by Thursday…so I fixed myself a bowl of cold cereal with pomegranate arils instead of heavy oats.

Shredded wheat, Go Lean Crunch, Uncle Sam, a little Bear Naked granola and arils.

Let’s get this day started!!!!

Mmmm…I got to enjoy every little bite of my s’muffernutter breakfast cookie this morning.

Deb and I were discussing the importance of the protein powder in the breakfast cookie today. It really does act as the “binding agent.” The thick goo it creates when mixed with your liquid is what hardens the cookie in the fridge overnight, not the nut butter. But for all you other bloggers out there who don’t use protein powder, do your cookies still work without it? Wouldn’t it be a mushy mess you have to eat with a fork?

I don’t usually bring bars as snacks when I know I’ll just be at the office, but I’m too excited to try out my new bar finds! Today’s pick was the KIND Fruit & Nut in yoghurt coating.

I didn’t know KIND had a special “nut blend,” or ”fruit blend” for that matter. I must remember to never sell a bar with the same combo

A little low on the protein, but it is just nuts and dried fruit. Usually I like to pair high-carb bars with a piece of cheese to even things out, but this is a little too high-calorie for that.

The yoghurt coating was actually too thick for my liking. I didn’t realize it was coated on the bottom too. Otherwise it was a verrrry yummy bar. The nuts were toasted to perfection. The brazil nuts in particular were delicious!

Oh, and as for the PB&J Larabar, Ellie and I are looking into why the Canadian and UK versions have added refined sunflower oil. But she did inform me they don’t count calories from fibre in the U.S, and that’s why the calories were listed as higher. I didn’t know that!! No wonder my “Fibre 1” cereal has twice the number of calories as the American “Fiber One” version.

Lunch was more Yves cajun chicken slices with swiss and veggies.

One thing that sucks about making lunch the night before is that my bread gets soggy. Boo. My office needs a george foreman grill.

I did little lily dawdling after work and hit up the gym almost right away. I was excited to make up for my lazy Saturday! (and Friday)

Cool-down:
Stretching Think I’ll do another stretching post with my routine soon…

Well congrats to you if you read through all of that! Abridged version is that it had medium & high intensity interval cardio with upper body and abs. This was by no means a short workout, took me almost an hour and 20 minutes. But I was having fun, it’s how I like to spend my Sunday afternoons

I was definitely running on empty by the time I came home though, so I immediately replenished with a smoothie.

1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1/4 cup cottage cheese

1 scoop ISO Lean peach-mango whey protein powder

1 cup frozen strawberries

Then I got started on dinner! A roast dinner. I threw another bird in the oven. Dang, this is so easy! No pictures of the carcass, but I just rinsed off the small chicken, stuffed it with a head of garlic, lemon quarters and a small bunch of thyme. Rubbed some salt and pepper on it then cooked in a 425F oven for 90 minutes. So frickin easy.

I actually kept the chicken in for five minutes longer tonight, but I don’t think I needed to. It was crazy delicious. I can’t believe it took me this long to get the nerve to roast chickens.

On the side are sweet potato and carrots tossed in balsamic vinegar and maple syrup and roasted in a separate pan. Then some frozen brussel sprouts in a little pepper and Earth Balance.

How’s that for a Sunday dinner? One of the few times I wish didn’t live alone are occasions when I have a wonderful meal I want to share. At least I get the leftovers all to myself

November Goal Check-In

Three weeks in! Already got ideas swimming in my head for next month

Have fun workouts.
First, I only made it to one yoga class and didn’t do any at home. Fail on that front!

Monday – I got my BodyStep on and stepped my little heart out. It was spectacular.

Tuesday – Surprisingly quick 5k run outdoors because it was too beautiful to stay inside, then an evening BodyFlow class to streeetch it all out.

Wednesday – Spin class with Chris. SO much fun!

Thursday - Missed BodyPump but came up with a lifting sesh of my own.

Friday – Impromptu lifting sesh left me waddling. Day off.

Saturday – Another day off. Needed to fully recharge.

Sunday – Amaaaazing and energetic weight and HIIT workout at the gym.

Be less complacent with food.
My experiment with temporarily tracking calories again was a success. Even though I’m no longer doing it, I find it got me in that mind set of just being aware again. As a side note, I’m also doing much better at not counting in my head. I haven’t a clue what any of my meals were today, and I don’t care!

Get more sleep.
Well almost sleeping through work yesterday helped! To be honest, going from crazy early morning shifts to evening shifts really messed with my body clock this week. I was going to bed too late, but waking up too early. Perhaps I should re-introduce the afternoon nap…

Make it through the last month of work with a positive attitude.
Not gonna lie, it’s getting worse by the day. But I do find myself appreciating my co-workers more. The job itself may not have been for me, but I worked with really good people.

Try my best to not let anything hold me back.
I’ve finally buckled down and decided to follow what I’m truly passionate about. For the first time in my life, I feel really excited and confident about my future.

Figure out a way to get into the holiday season.
I bought my first Christmas present today! You’re going to love/hate it mom

Spend more time with my grandparents.
I haven’t spoken to any of them this week

Be more honest with people.
Ohman, I was the most honest I’ve been in a long time this week. I’ve always known it’s important to be honest with the people you love, but this week just reiterated how important it is. Sometimes you hurt people more by not telling the truth than if you were just honest.

Look for a job.
Got a job interview at Starbucks tomorrow

Start playing music again.
Eff.

You know it’s coming…

Question of the Day: How are you coming along with your goals this month?

With Tim still cold turkey after giving up tea we had to find a healthy alternative. To make it worse, our workshop has no power which is a bit frustrating sometimes, especially when tea is needed. So we decided to make a pedal-powered smoothie machine, ingredient: One bike-generator, one scooter motor, a piece of steel reinforced hose, two jubilee clips, some speaker wire and an old blender. Basically all we did in join the generator to the scooter motor to get a really efficient and flexible smoothie maker.

This Face!

Meet Samson

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know that my sweet Eli passed away back in October. I have missed him terribly!! I have been going to the pound over these last several weeks just waiting to see if the right dog would come along for me to rescue. I went last Saturday and they had gotten in SEVEN Cocker Spaniels! They think it was some back yard breeder who decided they didn’t want to fool with the dogs anymore. It is really sad! Anyway, I don’t even want to get into how cruel and pitiful it is to take dogs to the pound! As you can see, one captured my heart:)

Samson is around two years old and scared to death. The poor thing evidentally has not been given much attention. He needs LOTS of love and a feeling of security. Hopefully, I can give him that:) I just got him yesterday and he is already beginning to realize that he is not going to be hurt.

I encourage anyone looking for a new dog to check out their local shelter. Lots of lives could be saved and lots of love can be given to these dogs that are just left for dead!

Now, for some food drink! As I’ve been typing this, I’ve been enjoying a HEAB’S inspired pumpkin smoothie. It is so NOT raw, but oh so good!

My smoothie contained:

1 cup light soy milk

1/2 cup water

1/3 cup pumpkin

packet of stevia

1 scoop PlantFusion

cinnamon

nutmeg

This whole raw thing is hard! I do really well for about 3-4 days and then I just want to eat whatever and not worry about whether it’s raw or not. I guess that’s okay though. As long as I’m still getting a lot of raw, I think having a day every now and then that I have less raw should still give me the benefits of raw that my body needs. Okay, that was a confusing sentence! Anyway, trying not to stress on the days I want less raw:)

Hope you all have a fabulous Saturday! I have lots of house work/laundry to do and lots of loving on my new baby to do:) Any big plans for your Saturday?

I like food. I want to make sure I get all my fruits and veggies in a day. But that’s hard on a college budget and schedule. What I do now is have a soy milk smoothie with banana and blueberries in the morning. I think smoothies is one of the best ways to get a wallop of fruits and veggies in one shot.

On my wishlist this week is a real juicer. I want to be able to throw a whole apple or other fruits and veggies. My blender is just not cutting it anymore. Literally.

Fruits and veggies are crucial to being healthy and 2-3 servings a day just isn’t enough. So my advice is buy some frozen fruit, a blender and get creative!

This morning I made hubby and I our own Green Monsters:

I must have been excited about playing vegan today for the Vegan-4-A-Day challenge put out by Eating

I must have been excited about playing vegan today for the Vegan-4-A-Day challenge put out by EatingJourney & SillyTaterTot, because I woke up an hour and a half before my alarm, and there was no way I was getting back to sleep. It was even still pitch dark outside, which didn’t make me want to get up at all, but you gotta do what your body makes you do, right? So I was up.

I got up [at 5:45], grabbed my books, and started studying for the test that I thought I would have in Greek this morning. There was no test, but at least I knew my stuff when I went in for my independent study with my prof! I didn’t look quite as stupid as I would have without it I guess.

My Greek meeting wasn’t until 9, but I still managed to spend three hours studying [with frequent twitter/email breaks ] and didn’t have time to eat before I had to run out the door. My stomach was in a knot worrying about the test I thought I would have anyway, so I wasn’t thinking about food in the least. When I got back, however, fully pleased with the fact that I hadn’t failed [yet] today, I was hungry. And I knew exactly what I wanted …

A Green Monster, of course! In the Magic Bullet went:

~1/3 cup of unsweetened soy milk

~1 cup spinach

a little less than half a banana

a whole, juicy, ripe pear!

a little squirt of agave nectar, just because

THIS GUY WAS SO FREAKING TASTY! I was super impressed with it. And of course, he kept me full for a good two hours, until after noon when I knew I had to eat lunch, otherwise I wouldn’t eat until after class at 2. So I whipped up a quick little spinach and tomato salad. I would have added more to it, but I had very limited time!

With this dressing [oh. so. delicious.]:

I also packed a few goodies for class, just in case.

A hummus sandwich [oh yeah, just hummus - because I'm that cool]:

Another one of those juicy and delicious pears, a clementine, and a multivitamin:

MULTIVITAMIN! by courteatsu, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/courteatsu/4118155654/">

My travel mug full of hot mint green tea [with another little agave squirt]:

And an unpictured bottle of water, for when thirst attacks. Because it always does.

I’m off to class now, but you’d better believe that I will most certainly be back later on tonight with whatever vegan concoction I come up with for dinner!

[I'm excited!]

You can probably still hear your mother’s voice in your head telling you, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!” Call your mom and thank her for being so wise — she’s exactly right!

Breakfast is really two words: break and fast. Your first meal is breaking the overnight fast occupying the time between dinner last night and waking up today. Eating even a small amount of food does wonders for your energy level, ability to focus, and effectiveness at keeping those growls in your tummy quiet.

Not a breakfast person? Too busy for breakfast? Don’t like eggs? Sorry, folks; those are no longer valid excuses. Pop into Camille’s on your way to work, grab a fresh fruit smoothie, and feel those nutrients doing their thing!

Some locations open as early as 8:00 a.m. and feature a full breakfast menu. Want to know which ones? Find out here!

See you in the morning!

The sad news I’ll get to in a minute… Trust me, it’s really sad. Dinner last night

The sad news I’ll get to in a minute… Trust me, it’s really sad.

Dinner last night was yummy

Chicken with lemon pepper that I put some salsa, sour cream, and cilantro on top off

The fiance said he hadn’t ever had chicken with just lemon pepper? I’m fairly sure chicken with lemon pepper on a salad was a food group for me for years.

(Other former food groups include diet coke, americanos with an extra shot, microwave popcorn, and popsicles.)

Plus quinoa that had cilantro, garlic, corn, and black beans. Quinoa + cilantro is an amazing match.

Well, pretty much everything is amazing with cilantro. Let’s not kid ourselves

And a salad

We haven’t been eating salad lately. And I think it correlates pretty well to eating a lot more dessert. Need to be better on that.

I’m pretty sure that we have a ghost who eats pumpkin bread, as I keep finding these plates with crumbs

And I mean, that can’t be from me, right?

Breakfast involved double fisting

Coffee + smoothie.

Yeah, a smoothie in November. My thermostat is set at 64 degrees. I’m in a tank top. I’m becoming one with the cold.

(spinach, yogurt, banana, sadddd freezer burned blueberries with create a nice cement like color)

And now the sad news.

Sarah Palin is having Thanksgiving in my home town

I AM GOING TO BE IN KANSAS!

My brothers are going to find her at Fred Meyer on black friday and buy her half priced socks and be besties AND I WILL BE IN KANSAS.

Seriously, I am sad. Not like “oh man, the store is out of crack oranges” sad

No, this is “I had a box of girl scout cookies in the fridge for a month waiting to be opened because I’d given up junk food for lent and my sister in law got PMS-y and ate the whole box and now I get no Carmel Delights for an entire year” sad

When I found out I screamed at the fiance. He thought I was really mad. And when he heard what the problem was he laughed.

THIS IS NOT A LAUGHING MATTER.

If my brothers see Sarah Palin without me he’s going to have to buy me a ticket to Alaska.

Here are some things I am learning:)

1-I need to start a strict anti-candida diet! The ND is going to have me do a test that we send off that tells how bad it is and what strand of yeast I have. We can then proceed to treat accordingly with herbal/natural supplements. Main point-I have severe candida!!

2-I learned today that green monsters without ANY fruit are REALLY nasty!! ‘Nuff said! That also means I learned that breakfast on high raw, anti-candida is going to be tricky! Any ideas?

3- I learned that I like raw rutabaga blended with garlic, olive oil, salt etc. These were supposed to be patties, but didn’t quiet work the way they were supposed to. So, I learned that they make great croutons!

This is my salad I packed for lunch today. It had:

romaine, english cucumber, yellow pepper, cherry tomatoes, carrots, sprouts, sprouted black quinoa, and broken up rutabaga “patties”

4-I learned that raw broccoli is NOT my friend. I didn’t take a picture. For snack today, I had raw broccoli with some black bean dip.

5-I learned that I LOVE Gena’s BEST. SOUP. EVER.!!

I do not typically like raw soups at all, but this one, well it was a different story!

6-I then proceeded to learn that butternut is probably not good for candida. Not sure about that though. Raw foods have less sugar and carbs than cooked food. Any info. here?

7-I learned that chia pudding has a very weird texture that I’m not sure I like.

Raw cocoa chia pudding

I tasted this and stuck it back in the fridge. Will taste again later:)

8-I learned that this is my favorite raw meal so far:

Raw bread with tomato, sprouts and raw cheese with coleslaw

9-I learned that cheese is a no-no for anti-candida diet:( I rarely ever have it, but it’s nice every once in a while. So long cheese!

10-I learned that functioning on VERY little sleep is TORTURE when you have to go clean someone’s house!! I NEED SLEEP!!!

There– I learned at least TEN new things today!! Never too old to learn!:)

Have you learned anything new today? I also learned that I can’t spell or type very well today!LOL!

So much to do, such little time. And that’s coming from someone who’s not working. ME. But I do keep busy. That’s why I’ve slacked on the blogging. I’ve been doing some research on something I’m working on, volunteering at church, attending 2 bible studies, running errands, keeping my home nice and clean, doing laundry, cooking, grocery shopping, going to doctor appts, etc, etc…..who the heck has time for a j.o.b? (journey of the broke).

But seriously, I don’t know where the time goes, and I’m pretty good with time management. And for the record, because I know what you’re thinking, I only use Facebook while working in other screens. I’m happy to announce that I’m one of only a few people who doesn’t play Farmville It’s kind of interesting that some people I know are on Farmville from morning to night. Can you say ‘addiction’….

Well, this morning I had to go to downtown Miami. It’s a lovely place until you need a parking spot. I drove around for 30 minutes and after praying to God, I got a spot right in front of the building I was going to. Thank you Jesus!! You’re so good to me. There are still so many unoccupied, unfinished high rise condo buildings in that area.

I do love buying myself a smoothie, but sometimes I get back too early from my workout and my favorite place is closed. What to do? Make my own! After a couple months of this, I think I have it perfected. And here it is for you dear readers:

Ok, so here we have all the ingredients:

Kombucha tea, either in Trilogy or Strawberry. (I would suggest it even if you don’t like kombucha, because the flavor isn’t strong in the smoothie. You can find it at whole foods or any upscale grocery store. If you’re totally opposed, – like this gal - Vicki likes using apple juice.)

Yogurt in strawberry or blueberry.

Frozen berries (you can get fresh, but this way you get the variety with less packaging and a lower price. Plus they’re already frozen, which I’ve found ups the quality of the smoothie. Less ice and more yumminess! Thanks to Vicki for that!)

Agave nectar (pronounced A-gauve-ay) for some healthy sweetness. Stevia might work as well, I’m not sure. Either can be found at a health foods store.

Acai powder, which I got from Whole Foods. The whole bag is pricey, but just a spoonful is enough, so it will last you awhile.

Protein powder, which you can get almost anywhere.

A few cubes of ice.

I didn’t give any quantities, because I don’t measure myself. Just use common sense. Lowball it for the protein powder though, because too much can make the smoothie gritty and gross.

It will be deliciously thick and yummy… and healthy!

Hope you’ve had a great Monday! Today was another beautiful day in Tampa!

For Breakfast I decided on a smoothie. I bought some new protein powder – Living Harvest Hemp Protein – over the weekend and wanted to give it a try.

Here’s what I used:

1 cup Greenwise Organic Light Soy Milk

½ Banana

1 Large handful of spinach

2 Tbsp Living Harvest protein powder

1 Tsp of Hershey’s Unswt Cocoa Powder

A few drops of Vanilla Crème Stevia

I know there’s a lot of people out there already familiar with what hemps seeds have to offer, but I looked into it a little more to see what’s so different. According to the Living Harvest website:

“Hemp seeds contain all 10 Essential Amino Acids (EAA’s) – the building blocks of protein. They’re also rich in naturally-balanced Omega-3 and Omega-6 Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s). Additionally, hemp is high in magnesium, iron, potassium, fiber and phytonutrients, plus natural antioxidants like vitamin E. Hemp seeds are one of the plant kingdom’s best sources of easily digestible, high-quality protein. 65% of hemp seeds’ protein is high-quality edestin, making them the highest vegan source of this simple protein that’s required for proper immune system function. The other 35% is albumin protein. With live enzymes intact, hemp’s digestible proteins are easily assimilated into the body.”

It was really delicious. The serving size for the Living Harvest Protein powder says 4Tbsp, but I was a little hesitant putting that much into my smoothie without ever having this before because it smells really earthy, but after this morning, I think it’ll be ok.

Around 10:30 I had 1/2 Banana with 1 Tbsp of Naturally More Peanut Butter

I also couldn’t resist this little chocolate truffle

Lunch today was some yummy leftovers:

1 Slice of homemade pizza (excuse the crumpled aluminum foil) with zucchini, yellow squash, bell pepper, green onions, black olives mushrooms with no cheese

Salad with romaine lettuce, raddishes, zuchinni, yellow squash, english cucumber, 1 oz tofu diced and 1 roma tomato. I used about 1tsp of Trader Joes Goddess Dressing. Yum!

I also snacked on this:

After work I headed to the gym and did a 5 min warm-up, running 25 minutes, 10 min cool down. I also did 3 mins of abs and 20 minutes of yogadownload.com Gentle Hatha #1

While preparing dinner, I munched on some pretzels

Dinner was quick and easy tonight. Sweet Potato topped with left over Channa Masala and Zucchini

Right now, I’m watching a movie with the hubby and munching on a serving of Annie’s Honey Grahams.

Approx calories for the day: 1197

Then it’s off to bed. Goodnight all.

I recently bought a tub of 500 g protein powder from the clinic, just to experiment with myself, and just to know how it tastes. Just in case, if i prescribed to my patients in the future, and they asked how does it tastes like, I can give them a real answer. Anyway, as soon as I got it, I mixed it with cold water, gave it a strong stir, they just DIDN’T mix evenly. I still found some lumps after stirring for a few minutes. So I thought, oh.., how bad could it be? and took a sip. mmmm….yuuu..ck..!!!! this is NOT the taste of “smooth vanilla” (as the label says), it was really thick, lumpy, and milky rich (not in a good way for me, cause I hate the taste of cow’s milk). So then I added some ice cubes, just to make it icy cold, and thus, numb my tastebuds.

The next day, I bought some bananas, frozen berries, and soy milk to turn the yuck powder into yum powder. I peeled and froze the bananas as well. Guess what, IT WAS AWESOME..!! yaay.. the banana takes over the flavour, and the berries give the smoothie it’s freshness.

ingredients : (2 tall glass)

4 tbsp protein powder (I used whey, but soy, rice, or pea protein powder with neutral flavour will work as well, or, 1/2 block of silken tofu will give a boost of protein)

1 cup of water

1 cup soy milk

1 handfull frozen mixed berries

1 frozen banana

3-4 small – ish ice cubes

put all the ingredients in a blender, and blitz until smooth.

transfer into 2 tall glass.
