What a great weekend in San Diego. The weather was absolutely magnificent and you couldn’t have asked for better weather. I meet the Curtis family at one of the parks by the beach they like to frequent. Little “M” was familiar with the park, squirrels and the trains that pass by. He was full of fun and was quite the daddy’s boy. Little “A” just soaked everything in while peacefully hanging out with mommy most of the time. I was glad I was able to capture some moments for them for the holidays. Thanks for sharing part of your Sunday with me. We been a part of this wonderful Carlsbad community for 2 years now and we’ve meet some great families. This family is one of them. We have run in the same circles these last couple of years and are grateful to call them friends. Our kids play sports together and we’ve spent a lot of time on the sideline cheering them on. I was honored to take their family photos this year. Hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

It seems like another musician is broadening her horizons by launching a jewelry line. Today, Alicia Keys new accessories line was shown at a temporary shop at Collette Blanchard Gallery. The line  won’t actually be launched until 2010, but the event was supposed to get the word out to the public. Alicia Keys has always had a passion for jewelry, and feels that a small piece can express a lot in ones personal style. Keys joined up with jewelry designer Gisele Theriault to create the line, The Barber’s daughters. The collection will contain sterling silver and gemstone pieces, inscribed with poetry and prayers of Massaru Emoto, ranging from $85 to $2500. I have said my opinions on how I feel about celebrities constantly going from industry to industry trying to make more money. I feel like they need to stick to what they are truly good at so they can put all of their efforts into one talent to be as successful as possible. Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge Alicia Keys fan, and I think she is a very talented person, but I am always skeptical if these types of collections will actually do well (especially in a recession). I do respect that Ms. Keys, isn’t going all out with a full clothing collection, but is focusing on one aspect of the fashion industry. I also like that the price range is pretty broad, so pretty much anyone can afford at least one piece by her. I really hope that she does well with this collection, but I don’t want her to stop recording her music, because I am a huge fan.

Isn’t this interesting?!? In this picture, there are 3 players. They have some new cards, they are all wearing ninja masks (why don’t they do that in the Ninja Hideout too?) and they are on stones floating in lava, with the pictures of fire, water and snow on them!

Such a sweet boy who wanted to stay awake and see what all the photoshoot excitement was about…. I kid you not, the first image was the very last shot I took. The entire studio packed, camera put away and he fell asleep in his swing. Moved the swing near light and viola! perfect sleepy baby image.

With the new ninja game coming out soon, the CPT is coming out with more and more power cards to use against your opponents! In fact they have a sneak peek of a WOP (Work in Progress) card! I really want it just because it looks cool and it involves my favorite penguin on the island.

Hi everyone!  We’re starting to wind down the 12 days of Christmas crop at inspireME.  Only a few days left of wonderful holiday projects.  I have been so inspired by all the beautiful things that the ladies have created for this crop.  Today’s project is no exception. It’s a beautiful holiday Tussie Mussie by design team member Amy Tara.  Here is a little peek.

I just got back from a crop myself.  It’s always so great to hang out with the old Paper Playground gang.  I spent an awful lot of time yakking and eating, but I did make a few cards just for fun.  The first is for Laura’s sketch #39 at 2sketches4you.

Basic Grey patterned paper, Little Yellow Bicycle chipboard, rub-on by K&Co.  Trim is Making Memories and baker’s twine by Martha Stewart.

I also played along with CPS sketch #142.

Assimilation to surroundings

The residence aims for a synthesis between the indoor and the outdoor space. The outdoor space is more or less embraced, creating subtle transitions. The living room has been deliberately raised by 80 centimetres, which creates a direct relationship with the magnificently wide view. The different levels within the house subtly interact with the central staircase, with relatively small differences in height. Adjacent to the master bedroom is a lowered terrace, which takes the splitlevel to the outdoor space as well. The pool and garden wall feature as a connection to the covered terrace and garden storage located behind the house. The shape of the residence is a direct organic consequence of the shape of the lot.

Architecture

The residence with a carport, garage and garden storage was designed as a whole. The idea is based on the concept of one continuous mass, with a number of indentations. This concept does not allow for an overhang, as it would become a volume in and of itself, a second structure. The structure as it exists now is a logical consequence of the development of the indoor space and the different levels. Focal point of the design as a whole is the admittance of daylight. Transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces are characterised by windows that are sunk deeply into the facade, allowing the light to guide the transition. This design feature has been deliberately omitted at the front of the house where the living room is located, in order to amplify the direct confrontation with the landscape.

There’s nothing sweeter than a newborn less than two weeks old. This one was no exception. Sweet little Miss “S” loved to be held and fully clothed. So much so that when she was naked and laying down, she let us know what she wanted…..LOL.  I can tell she is going to be a strong will woman : ) I knew if I was patient I would get the shots the parents wanted. It seems like Victorian roots are starting to grow again. Velvet accents are starting to appear more and more as we keep moving into fall. This romantic fabric is very sexy, and it is going in a far different direction from its original roots. Try and get the conservative Victorian look with lots of fabric out of your head because this new fall trend is far from conservative with a lot less fabric.

I mentioned a while back that Michaela and I were assigned our last styling project for our class. We decided to do a modern-day La Belle Époque (Edwardian era) theme. We have been preparing for our shoot for a few weeks now, and I feel like everyday I see another garment that has a close resemblance to the Edwardian era. As we know delicate ruffles are a must, soft colors, and lace are all important aspects to the time period. Michaela and I already have our outfits chosen for our shoot on Monday morning, but I wish we didn’t have a limit on how many outfits we could photograph. There is something new on my list everyday (what else is new?). Check out some inspiring garments from designers like Betsey Johnson, Chanel, and Dolce and Gabanna.
