What kind of world are we living in? What values or morals are our kids learning? Why are men, women and children subjected to institutionalised and systematic cruelty? We live in one of the wealthiest and supposedly educated countries in the world, yet a young adult takes it upon himself to urinate on a woman as she lies dying in the street!  What possessed him to do that?  What drives a woman to take the life of her daughter and then her own? Society! The supposedly “all inclusive” and welcoming “society” singled them out and made every day a living nightmare. The concept of “community” is a figment of the imagination, I could go on to say “nobody cares” but that would do a great disservice to the hundreds underpaid carers and volunteers. We need to take things forward, re-ignite various disability groups & ask our “leaders” (before another cabinet re-shuffle and pass the buck policy). What are you going to do about the state of our “communities”? When are you going to treat those you label “disabled” as first class citizens? The most realistic question I could ask is when will pigs fly??

Another point worth looking at, we the supposedly “normal people” consider someone different as “disabled” what do disabled people consider themselves as? If one has never known any different then what’s the problem? Regardless of what we are, we all have, in one form or another the potential of being a husband or wife, employed or self-employed, mother or father, so you get the picture…

People often make the mistake of cheering up a fat child by giving them something to eat, I guess in the short term the child would be happy, but in the long run it’s adding to what can only be described as depression.
