We have been busy these last weeks on assignments for FQ Japan and BC Ferries. We´ll put some of the new stuff up as soon as it is ready.
We have a new gallery of the month, the April gallery has the theme Iceland. These are images from Snorri, all of them 2-3 years old. Enjoy.
The sultry fellow above is Byron Fry, he came in to the studio and we did some experiments on him, most of them lighting related.

Vancouver Island holds many treasures; some are among the most popular outdoor places in Canada, like the West Coast Trail. Others are just as magnificent but hidden because of difficult access. The result is often a pristine place, where everything is undisturbed, peaceful but strangely mysterious, Tahsish-Kwois is one of those places, like a lost Valley in the deepest inlet of Kyoqout Sound.
It is no mean feat to get to Tahsish-Kwois, first there are logging roads with their potholes and winding hairpins, 80km from Woss to the Artlish River. The only reasonable way into the park is by water and the easiest access to the water is by an abindoned logging camp near the Artlish river mouth.

Botany Bay

I have been doing Panoramas for the last months, very nontechnically just on a regular tripod and sometimes if the light is good, hand held. This is a big no no with Panoheads and for a real Panorama a Panorama head is the optimal way to go. They are often more expensive than the average tripod so I´ll wait a while with that purchase.
Panoramas are fun and I see potential for exciting things in conjunction with strobes and people.

Port Renfrew

For one thing Panoramas offer a very large file, which is very good if a project needs to be printed Xtra Large. Another perk with Panoramas is how you can give a truer portrayal of a place. More alike what our eye can see in conjunction with our senses and peripheral vision.

Q. How old are you?
A. 36

Q. Where were you born/raised?
A. Born in Selfoss, a tiny riverside village in Iceland. Raised there and in Westman Islands on the south coast of Iceland. Since then I have lived in Iceland, U.S.A and Canada.

Q. Where do you reside now?
A. Victoria B.C.

Q. Who is your largest influence in this industry?
A. Not too many photographers but a few names that inspire me Gary Luhm, Chase Jarvis, Ragnar Axelsson, Daníel Bergmann and David Zimmerman.

Q. Who is your biggest influence outside of this industry?
A. J.M.W Turner, Francis Bacon, Klimt, David Hockney, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, Kerouac and Ginsberg.

Q. What is the single best thing you’ve ever received from another person?
A. Love

Q. What are some of your hobbies when you need an escape?
A. I have usually made my hobbies into work so that I don’t have to escape anywhere. I like movies, computer games, kayaking, hiking, camping and cycling when I have to relax and do something else than photography; which still remains my biggest hobby.

Q. What did you want to be as a kid?
A. Biologist, Computer Programmer, Bruce Lee, Superman, Candy-Storeowner, National Geographic Photographer and an Astronaut.
