For Canadian rapper Aubrey “Drake” Graham, his explosion onto the music scene came in 2009 in the wake of his third official mixtape: “So Far Gone.”

Now Drake is helping a new social media camera burst onto the scene, with a campaign called “So Kodak.”

The advertising campaign has Drake joining three other popular hip-hop artists to promote the new Kodak EasyShare M590 camera. In a revolution that is long overdue, personal digital cameras are finally starting to feature the social media capabilities that smartphones like the Iphone and Blackberry have had established for a few years.

So what can these cameras do? Well, with just a couple clicks, a brand new digital photo can be distributed to all of a person’s Twitter followers and Facebook friends. Photos can even be uploaded to Flickr galleries, as well as videos to YouTube channels. It’s a social media revolution that integrates the features of phones and Flip Cameras, resulting in a product that will wow every industry.

In this case, the music industry is readily available to be on board. Rhianna, Pitbull and Trey Songz, the three artists joining Drake to promote the camera, are already pumping out advertisements to show the instantaneous nature of the technology. Check out a few of them below:

Sticking with the social media theme, the “So Kodak” campaign is being run entirely through social media, with the advertisements being run through YouTube and artists tweeting about their involvement. The website is also fully integrated with each artists’ Facebook fan page.

On October 5, Drake and Trey Songz performed at a one-night only surprise celebration event for the launch of their SO KODAK campaign and the new Kodak EasyShare cameras. The event was held at Best Buy Theater in Times Square and 1,000 lucky VIPs and fans came to see them perform. This was the first time I ever seen these guys in real life.
