According to the Tyee, the provincial governments of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia have declined to distribute a children’s book because they say it’s “racist” and “promotes stereotypes of First Nations people.” The book, which is written by former ChickaDEE magazine editor Lizann Flatt and illustrated by Scot Ritchie, is called “Let’s Go! The Story of Getting from There to Here”.

“The representations of aboriginal people are stereotypes — everyone looks the same — and they are all depicted in the past, with feathers on their heads,” the paper quoted the province’s Department of Education saying. “The aboriginal peoples are represented in passive roles, waiting for ‘progress’ to come and ‘better’ them.”

A ministry official was also quoted saying Europe is depicted as “heavenly” with a castle and a sunburst behind it while the First Nations people look generic.

The actual story is based on transportation, beginning with people who walked or canoed, and leading into the modern era where people drive and fly. The stereotype, they argue, is that First Nations people were technologically behind the Europeans.

Well, weren’t they? Is there anybody on Earth who denies the European civilization did not meet the aboriginal peoples here in a state of different technological evolution? The Europeans met the people of this continent in a state of neolithic kinship-based culture, something which the Europeans passed through thousands of years ago. There isn’t anything wrong with being in different stages of development; it just happens to be the historical truth.

The book actually just completed a book tour, which took place from November 14 to 21. The 32nd annual TD Canadian Children’s Book Week, sponsored by TD Bank Financial Group and the Canadian Children’s Book Centre provided more than 500,000 copies of Let’s Go! The Story of Getting from There to Here to grade one students across Canada.

“Because of TD’s generous support, we can use this wonderful story to start a conversation with children that is not only about the importance of reading, but also about where we’ve been and where we’re going,” said Charlotte Teeple, Executive Director, Canadian Children’s Book Centre. “We hope that Let’s Go captures the imaginations of Canadian children and starts them on the path to a life-long love of literature.”

Responding by email to a query about the current controversy, illustrator Scot Ritchie wrote, “We’ve just returned from our tour and the teachers, librarians and kids all loved the book.

“For me one of the best things about this give-away program is knowing that for some kids this is the first book they’ll ever own. As for the interpretations of the book I’m going to echo Charlotte Teeple’s comments. I don’t see what people disapprove of. I think they are wrong but that is their choice. One comment caught my eye regarding First Nations people; “they are all depicted… with feathers on their heads.” I had to check my artwork again because I remember being conscious of that. There’s one feather.”

Of course there’s an easier explanation for this. Social engineering doesn’t have to make sense, which is why it’s difficult to explain complicated subjects such as the historical implications of the Europeans meeting the First Peoples here in North America, and put it into context with a children’s book that describes how people get around. If it were an encyclopedia pictorial for adults, one might understand the offence at childish cartoons showing feathers in the hair of Indians, or all looking generic and bland. But that isn’t what the book is meant to be about, and so the critics should focus on more meaningful expressions of their social agendas, rather than attempt to foist them onto grade one student reading material.

First off, let me say “KUDOS” for actually getting into a state affair with the Secret Service at the door as well as trained snipers on the roofs and NOT getting shot. However, MAJOR points must be taken away for posting the escapade on your FACEBOOK you numbnuts!

Now with that said, I am impressed at the balls here. I mean sure, crashing a high end star party is one thing, but to get into the White House during such an event is really a crown jewel in the game of gaming people in the social engineering world. I mean, just the layers of security should be daunting with not only the Secret Service, but no doubt some of the Indian services there too there was a lot of opportunity of being caught. Not only caught, but likely stuffed in a car and taken to an interrogation room for many many hours.

But you two got away with it.. Until you decided to bone headedly put the pics on facebook. What were you thinking?

I can imagine now though what the detail on duty is going through, especially the guy who let them in at the final gate must be going through. THIS could be a career ender for the SS guy or woman who fucked the pooch here. In fact the whole team on duty could be in trouble. Lets see what the internal investigation brings shall we?

I also have to wonder what will happen to these two. I am sure some kind of charges will be proffered.

Hmmm I wonder if there will be many more gate crashers now…

“White House Party Crashers: How They Did It”

“…..As for me, I was born working class, well, underclass, truth be told. My dad had been a prosperous farmer post World War Two, but after he lost the farm, he had no other skills to fall back on. He became a house painter, working from dawn till dusk. When his health failed, he became a janitor. My mom was a nurse’s aid at a time when not only didn’t you need a certificate, you didn’t even need to show an 8th grade diploma.

It was my bad fortune to be born long after the farm was gone, so all I ever heard from my parents was how wonderful everything use to be, and how shitty it is now. I was one of those quiet, bookish, pessimistic little kids, having little in common with my parents or peers. But rural poverty will have its effect, and I grew up to hold the same jobs as everybody else, working at Wal-Mart, Kroger, and at gas stations which seemed to change their names every few months. I never had what most would consider a real job. I guess because I never felt I deserved it….” – Dave

“….Anyway, one of the things that click between me and my Illinois wife is that she has an unerring ability to see class distinctions play out between people. A small town farm girl whose father, like yours, failed at farming, she moved “into town,” and like farm kids of our generation who’ve spent countless hours alone as a society of one, she could see the unacknowledged class structure. She just plain “gets it.”

We’ve spent thousands of hours talking about the rural values and cultural experience that led to so many of these people becoming the foundation of America’s permanent white underclass. So much so that a big part of my new book (now finished and due out in October, 2010) is about that. The book masquerades as a memoir, but is really more of my jack-leg American sociology. From what I’ve seen in your letter, I can assure you that you will find yourself and your family in the book like no other book you’ve ever read. I put my soul into this puppy.

Incidentally, your father’s experience farming sounds classic. Midwestern farmers made good money supplying the war effort and for a while thereafter. Then big ag and vertical integration rose up swiftly to capture all agricultural profits and assure that people like your father and my grandparents could never again be so successful as independent farmers.

Fearful, conservative, and self-defeating, our people, yours and mine, did not become that way all by their little lonesomes. They had a lot of outside help from government and corporations right after World War Two, when some 22 million (my family among them) were purposefully driven off their farms to work in industry, providing a cheap, docile, and anti-union work force.

More importantly though, this migration caused millions more people to depend on paychecks in a wealth-based economy so the high profits of the wartime boom could be maintained for DuPont and many other corporations. Much effort and policy went into creating a nation of wage dependent consumers (commodity slaves). One government “social behavior film” shown in theaters before and between movies stated bluntly that “Being self sufficient is a waste of time. You can buy a better life in the city than you can create on a farm.”

When World War Two started 45% of Americans lived on farms or in farming based communities. Ten years after the war only 12% remained on farms, and not much later it dropped to six percent. And believe me, they did not all leave willingly….”

In view of recent events, particularly with regard to the savaged prices with which American dairy farmers are being insulted these days, one can’t help but feel that a whole new round of “clearances” is underway for American farmers, who, once again, are not going to have much say in the matter. More and more the only viable options seem to involve selling direct to consumers as cow-share dairy farmers do. The notion that a farmer can survive by going big and going chemical — or these days, GMO — is more and more being recognized for the illusion that it maybe always was.

‘Alien spies live among us’ says Bulgarian gov space boffin

A boffin at the Bulgarian national Space Research Institute has stated that not only are aliens living among us, but that they object strongly to “immoral behaviour” by humanity – such as causing global warming. “Unnatural” acts such as use of cosmetics and “artificial insemination” are also frowned upon by the extraterrestrial visitors.

Luchezar Filipov, deputy head of the space institute at the government’s Bulgarian Academy of Science, made these startling assertions to Bulgarian media earlier this week.

The Sofia Echo, referencing other local media, quotes the eminent space brainbox as stating that “they [aliens] are here right now, among us” and that the extraterrestrials are “conducting surveillance” and – chillingly – “research” on humanity.

“They are currently all around us, and are watching us all the time. They are not hostile towards us; rather, they want to help us but we have not grown enough in order to establish direct contact with them,” said the Bulgarian boffin, according to Sofia news agency novinite.com.

Reportedly Filipov and unnamed colleagues have elicited this information by decrypting messages hidden within crop circles. The crop-circle “pictograms” were said to have been a response to questions posed by the Academy scientists.

Crop-circle comms being unreliable, Filipov apparently feels that future direct contact will come through the medium of “mental power and telepathy”. However, some basic themes have apparently been made clear.

“The aliens are very critical of our immoral behaviour and our destruction of the environment,” says Filipov, according to the Echo. “They say that global warming is attributed mainly to infrastructural engineering.”

Presumably the star-travelling aliens have long ago graduated to advanced energy sources such as nuclear fusion or antimatter, and sneer at our pathetic fossil-fuelled civilisation.

Filipov stated that the alien spies in our midst have other objections to our lifestyle, too.

“They are very skeptical of our use of cosmetics, and artificial insemination because this is unnatural,” he reportedly said.

There was no word on the aliens’ views on gang-probing of humans abducted as part of their “research” programme.

One of the alluring aspects of Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri is the system of Social Engineering that you use to determine how your faction is run. The options for social engineering are divided into four categories: Political, Economic, Values and Future Society.

Political is more or less self-explanatory. The default is ‘Frontier’, which I’m assuming is something like the earliest government of a newly founded colony. There are no bonuses or penalties to this political system, but its surely intended as a temporary solution until a new system can be implemented.

Next option is Police State, which is pretty much exactly what you associate with the term. A strong, powerful, coercive monopoly on the initiation of force and no personal or political freedom for the citizens who are not within the ruling party. Need I voice my objections? I imagine most people in a ‘free society’ like ours are reasonable enough to know why police states are a terrible thing.

Third is Democratic. A popularly elected assembly governs the faction (yet somehow, the faction leader never changes… and he/she never ages either. Most curious ). Even as a Statist I always favoured the Democratic option… and as an Anarchist, I still regard it far more highly than the alternatives.

Finally, there’s Fundamentalist. Theocracy is bad… nuff said Seriously though… do you really want to stagnate scientific and technological advancement to follow an elite group of theocrats who demand that you live according to the words of a book of ancient desert tribe mythology?

Moving on to the economics… I’m finding this part far more complicated. But I always did even as a Statist.

First there is simple… which is again the early colonial system that is the default until a new system can be built.

Then there is Free Market. I found myself very disgusted with this one when I was a Statist… given that it seems to involve ruthless exploitation of people and the systematic rape of the planet. The way it is implemented in this game certainly makes it look that way. But as an anarchist… and a voluntarist… I find that a true free market would not resemble the corporate oligarchy that this type of so-called ‘free market’ seems to be. So I still find myself averting this option.

Next, there is Planned. I always preferred this one as a Statist because I was something of a socialist in those days. But as an anarchist… I find the idea of a centrally planned economy under the yoke of the state to be appalling. Of course… like the Free Market option… I find this is more of a problem with the implementation of a ‘planned’ economy. I certainly don’t see much of a problem with an economy that is planned directly by the people through voluntary association. But this looks more like state socialism/communism than voluntarism.

Finally, there is Green. While I did like the Planned economy as a Statist, I often transitioned to this when it suited. It sounds so pleasant to live in an efficient society that is careful about how it affects the planet it lives on. Again… the problem is with how its implemented here. A state enforced economy with strict environmental regulation and punitive penalties to businesses that excessively hurt the environment may have appealed to me when I was a Statist… but there are more voluntaristic, less coercive and forceful methods of encouraging a greener economy. People simply need to stop buying from businesses that excessively pollute and produce waste in favour of businesses that favour a more sustainable model.

So… I find no easy answer as to which economic model I favour… they all look to be Statist corruptions of those ideas. I still find myself aiming to go green in the end, though. This planet brutally fights back against heavy polluters after all

As for the values… this is less of a model of governance and more of the overall values that a society holds.

Survival is the early colonial default. Pretty simple idea: don’t die

Seriously though, next there is Wealth. In the past I found myself reviling this value… as wealth does not necessarily bring virtue. In fact there are countless examples where the opposite is the case. I feel a bit less revulsion now, seeing as how a wealthier society will be under much less pressure (and no… I don’t consider a society in which corporate executives can make hundreds of millions of dollars while their employees barely struggle above the poverty line a ‘wealthy’ society).

Next is Power. I found it an unfortunate necessity at times given how hostile the other factions can be towards you when your social engineering values don’t coincide with theirs. I can only find revulsion towards Power as a society value now, though, given that power involves force and coercion… almost always violent.

Finally… the one I’ve always held as the noblest Value (and still do)… Knowledge. Knowledge is more likely to bring virtue than guns or money. Knowledge is the true path to progress. My love of this value has only increased with my growing anarchistic tendencies. Part of what would make a voluntary society work is an intelligent, educated populace that can understand why certain behaviours are preferable over others.

Finally… there is Future Society. These emerge pretty late and involve the application of science fiction technology. I need not say anything of the default since the default is obviously ‘None’.

First, there is Cybernetic. This is a society where the important decision making and menial tasks involved in the running of society are turned over to intelligent machines. Of course, anyone who is a fan of films like Terminator and The Matrix will find such a concept scary. But aside from the possibility of the machines eventually deeming us ‘inefficient’ and ‘unnecessary’, one problem with this type of society is that it puts many out of work. We’ve already seen in this day and age how many jobs have been lost to machines… and these ones aren’t even the intelligent type. Still… if its a society where these machines (ie. the means of production) belong to all, rather than being concentrated in a bourgeois upper class, I figure it might possibly work. Not to mention some of the promising ideas in terms of transhumanism… the merging of organic and machine could be the way we achieve the next stage of our evolution.

Next is Eudaimonia. A more philosophical approach to structuring a society and fostering greater achievement and excellence and virtue. Curiously, I found myself most attracted to this… even in the past. I still do… even if it does sound a little utopian at first glance.

Finally, there is the scariest social engineering choice of all… in fact even scarier than Police State and Power… Thought Control. Basically, this involves bombarding the population with a subtle chemical agent that permeates the air they breathe. This gas makes the population more suggestible to the agenda of the government. Its certainly the wet dream of any Orwellian Big Brother-in-waiting… used in conjunction with a liberal dose of propaganda in the media, this social engineering choice silences dissent… unfortunately, it does not differentiate between healthy, valid dissent, and irrational anti-establishment demagoguery.

So to conclude… the ideal Social Engineering choices in my opinion tend to be Democratic, Green, Knowledge and Eudaimonia. Of course… I still have issues with how the ‘Green’ economic model works… but I have less issues with that than the so-called ‘Free Market’ corporate oligarchy, and the centrally Planned socialist model.

I mentioned in one of my Games That Changed My Life blog posts that Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri is one of those. For those who don’t know… go read up on it!

Just kidding. I am not talking about the game itself… more the lore within its story… specifically that of the ideologies of the various factions that come into play.

So anyway… the original game has seven factions, with the Alien Crossfire expansion pack, there are five more, plus two alien ‘factions’ (they don’t count… at the risk of sounding ’speciesist’ I’m sticking with humanity here).

I’ll be presenting each of the twelve human factions of the expanded game, comparing my old attitudes from my Statist days with a fresh perspective from my current Anarchic standpoint. But before I do that I should probably give an introduction to the setting to provide context.

The story begins with an international effort from within the United Nations to construct a starship capable of reaching the Alpha Centauri system (the closest star system to our own). The resulting ship, the Unity is launched amid global turmoil. You never really learn what happens back on Earth, but many assume that ecological disasters, combined with global economic collapse and nuclear war wipe out the population there. Needless to say, the colonists aboard the Unity have to operate under the assumption that they are humanity’s only hope for survival.

Anyway, at some point in the Unity’s journey, there is a mutiny, the captain is assassinated and catastrophic system failures lead to a need to jettison from the ship very quickly. Amid this turmoil, the colonists and crew divide into seven factions divided by ideology (I never figured out where the five other human factions in Alien Crossfire entered the picture, but whatever).

So seven colony pods eject from the Unity as it crash lands on Chiron, the earth-like planet in the Alpha Centauri system, and on this planet, most often referred to simply as ‘Planet’, these seven factions build their societies according to their faction’s ideology.

Dierdre Skye, the Unity’s chief xenobiologist formed the Gaia’s Stepdaughters, who, you can imagine are the environmentalists determined not to repeat the mistakes we made on Earth that screwed up its ecology.

Sheng-ji Yang, the Unity’s chief of security formed the Human Hive, which is basically a neo-Maoist collective ruled under a police state.

Prokhor Zakharov, the Unity’s chief science officer formed the University of Planet, who seek a life of unfettered scientific research and progress.

Nwabudike Morgan, an African prince turned corporate mogul is the C.E.O. of Morgan Industries, who are a ruthlessly monopolistic corporation with a so-called ‘free market’ ideology.

Corazon Santiago, a security officer on the Unity formed the Spartan Federation, who are a militant faction of survivalists, living mostly to be soldiers.

Miriam Godwinson, the ‘Psych Chaplain’ of the Unity formed The Lord’s Believers, who are an evangelical Christian theocracy… nuff said.

Dr. Pravin Lal, the Unity’s chief surgeon formed The U.N. Peacekeeping Force, hoping to salvage the original mission according to the U.N. Charter. As well as being the last remnant of the U.N. (apparently) they also established themselves as a constitutional democracy.

So anyway, when someone comes into contact with every other faction, they can hold the first Planetary Council meeting to elect one of the faction leaders as the ‘Planetary Governor’. Of course, he/she isn’t really in control once they are Governor… the position has about the same amount of power over individual factions as the U.N. Secretary General has over individual countries. Though he/she does have the power to veto decisions made in the Council.

Despite the original mission going awry, the U.N. Charter still governs inter-factional relations, unless a faction leader can muster enough votes in a Planetary Council meeting to repeal it (and by enough votes, that could mean enough votes to surpass a veto). Atrocities include the use of nerve gas in warfare, use of ‘Planet Buster’ missiles, extermination of bases, and Nerve Stapling.

Nerve Stapling is a tool of coercion and control which isn’t fully explained in detail… but suffice it to say, it suppresses rebellious tendencies, and is probably painful, and probably causes permanent harm to someone’s brain.

As well as having to contend with each other, the factions also find themselves contending with the native wildlife. The surface of Planet is teeming with a strange pinkish red type of fungus called Xenofungus. This fungus is often teeming with creatures called Mind Worms, which congregate in ‘Boils’ and employ psychic terror to paralyze their prey and seed their larvae in their victim. Eventually, the technology exists to breed mind worms, these boils are controlled by psychically gifted ‘Talents’… and communication with the Planetmind: the collective consciousness of all of the native life eventually leads to learning about a painful cycle of annihilation and rebirth the life on Planet goes through. One of the options for victory in the game is the project known as Ascent to Transcendence, which apparently involves a form of evolution and rising state of consciousness for humans of that faction and planet life that supposedly averts the cataclysmic end to the cycle.

So anyway, I did my best to explain the background… next post I’ll start my musings of the social engineering options in the game… and after that, I’ll address the original seven factions and the five other human factions added later.

I can remember the sayings “Nice guys finish last” and “Women like bad boys” from the time I was a child. I remember the “Fonz” on “Happy Days” getting all of the women and Hollywood bad boys like James Dean. One of the main problems with America is the average person’s inability to know when they are being manipulated by the media via social engineering. Then peer pressure from all of the other people who have been manipulated to behave in a certain way gets to the people, including myself sometimes, who know better because they want to fit in because being alone is one of the worst ways to exist as a human.

The fact is that women do like bad boys because they are animalistic and uncontrollable. They represent manliness in a shallow manner and that attraction is deeply rooted in womens’ genes and psyches via evolution. The problem with that natural instinct in a modern world is that it is counterproductive to a financially secure lifestyle and maybe to womens’ physical safely. Many women do not need a man to take care of them financially but almost ALL women (straight ones that is) need a man to take care of them emotionally. What is more important? And when did “care” come to mean money instead of love? It depends on the person and their priorities which are largely influenced by a hyperconsumptive culture but honestly you should not want someone that puts money before love because that means they will put it before you eventually. We all say that love is more important than money but very few of us actually behave in a way that demonstrates we really believe it.

Most women don’t want to be physically or emotionally abused by dominating and controlling thugs but to many of them it does bring excitement to their boring lives if they are alone and have no interests outside of bemoaning not being able to find a good man when in fact they are standing in their own way. It is a poor substitute for a healthy relationship and actually prevents a healthy relationship from forming but it nonetheless fills in the blanks temporarily. Thugs are nothing but sex substitutes for real love. They don’t care about themselves even though they profess bravado to the contrary. Real men don’t have to pretend to be hardcore to get women. but women hate being alone much more than men do. They intensely fear it so even though they know it’s a dead end many women engage in these sexual and emotionally abusive relationships because to them it seems better than nothing plus that animal instinct turns on most women. Thugs basically trick women into getting aroused without having to actually care for them. A thug does not have to wear baggy jeans, a grill, dreadlocks, Tims and a gold chain. He can be a brother like me with a college degree and a full time corporate job. As long as he demonstrates a lack of concern for and interest in the welfare of the female at all times nonsexual he can be considered a thug. If women want a real man that acts thuggish since it’s such an aphrodisiac then women should stop trying to emasculate men. Then thugs will become worthless because women will not need them. I met a girl last night who admitted she liked being booty-called by thugs but then she turned around and asked me if I could submit her resume to my company for employment. Why? What is she going to do? Get on her financial feet and then blow it on the legal fees for a thug? Is she going to get knocked up and then get mad at all good black men because the thug doesn’t want to even see her during the day? You have to be healthy yourself to have a healthy relationship. It takes two healthy people. Two unhealthy people just make each other more unhealthy.

Women are being confused by their natural instincts, social engineering and what they know is good for them and Oprah isn’t helping. They want the thug to avoid the loneliness and emptiness. They want to be independent because of hyperfeminism and so men don’t think they’re golddiggers. They also want to be genuinely loved. The problem is women are trying to solve long term problems with short term solutions. Mature women don’t date little boys. Thugs are little boys. They act that way only to attract silly women who are easy to seduce because they have been watching too much BET. Real men are manly without being abusive and neglectful. They have interests outside of women but make time for the right woman in their life. That is the way it should be. It should have nothing to do with money but compatibility. If money is one of your compatibility factors then you are a shallow, empty, hollow shell of a human that does not deserve a good man. You will in time be your own undoing. If women want love then they have to let go of feminism. Feminism is not the same thing as equal rights and equal pay for the same job. It is gender neutrality that ignores critical differences between the sexes that allow us to complement each other. It goes against nature and against God.

Sometimes I do feel sorry for the plague of women addicted to thug love substitutes. It’s like those women that live in the city and use their tiny dogs as boyfriend substitutes but just like money thugs can never make you happy. They can make you feel excited only because of the contradictions between having sex with them and their subsequent neglect. Women are enthralled by not being about to control thugs and the challenge of changing a man but are never attracted to a man that they actually do change. Quite ironic isn’t it? But thugs do not own the market on being their own men. In fact they are really just doing a poor imitation of real men. Real men listen to women but are not controlled by them. Real men do what they want. They just make room for women in their lives and the women makes room for them. I am a real man. I never sit around waiting on women. Other countries would be allowed to join once they meet certain economic criteria and they are founded on democratic principles. Such an organization would eventually substitute the role of the United Nations”.

“The economic downturn could have been prevented by a coordinated action of central banks and international regulatory bodies such as the Bank for International Settlements, the World Bank, the IMF, the WTO and the U.N. Economic and Social Council” the author says. “However, such coordination does not exist and global solutions cannot be implemented.” The “World Federalist Manifesto” calls for a centralization of the U.N. system and a better coordination of the work of the specialized agencies under the direction of the Secretary General. The book proposes that the different agencies (such as the FAO or WWF) assume the legal nature of Ministries, such as the International Department of Agriculture or the International Department of Environmental Protection).

A world confederation that respects the sovereignty of world nations and that deals with the issues of international economy that cannot be dealt by one nation alone”.

Here’s the next podcast of the Celtic Rebel v/w Stygian Port “Dinner With Andros” series [in stereo]. I liked what Lenon Honor had to say on the subject of prayer in one of his video series. He views it as an “energy transference.” By “praying” to some gods we know little of, we feed them, and give them our power. As I’ve been saying, I’m done giving away my power to gods and men. I’m getting the fuck out of this box, and when I do, I’m gonna start taking some of that power back. The Gods better start praying they don’t meet me in the great beyond, lest I sodomize them.

Well, at least they, the hand-maidens of the gods, have a sense of humor; a sick twisted sense of humor, but funny nonetheless. It’s not a coincidence that the church below used the word Deliverance in their title [a movie about men fucking men up the ass]. Speaking of ass-fucking, I had begun to wonder, some time ago, why Arnold grunts like a “stuck pig,” in EVERY SINGLE ONE of his early movies. Every single one. And it always seems to go on for an unbearably, and uncomfortably, long time.

Listening to the included [audio] clip from commando, free from the distraction of the hypnotizing and lying moving pictures on the screen, I think, makes it abundantly clear as to why. Based on his past, and my ventures into territory few dare venture [hence, why morons tend to dismiss me as "anally" obsessed], the questions yield answers. Just this week, my sister reminded me of the South Park episode (“Goobacks“) where in order to change the future (the shape of things to come), the men choose to become gay en masse. Matter of factly, one character states, “We are trying to turn everyone gay so there are no future humans.” In the face of revelation, our laughter is our consent.

Adding to the musical train theme, from my youth, I recall all the media-fed zombie boys who boasted of “running the train” on some girl. Oh you silly boys: to properly form a train, each boxcar needs to be able to couple with the car in front of and behind it. If you don’t understand that yet, don’t worry, you will soon enough.

Stygian after previewing this asked about all the Train songs, and how many more I had. Answer: plenty more where those came from [and none are from the imbecile "run the train" genre]. For example: the Clash’s “Train in Vain” would now be relevant. Oh, and pay close attention to the “Jumping Someone Else’s Train” lyrics; they are equivalent to Howard Biel’s speech from the last podcast [3].

Speaking of “chicken,” The Truman Show may just be worthy of an intimate exploration at some point. For now I’ll just point out a scene that someone really wanted the audience to notice. Carey runs into the twins and twice, they push his shoulder against the advertisement behind him, the camera focused on it.

Who’s the chicken in this situation? We are the chicken. We are the free-range slaves they are addressing (disuccsed in prior article, Statism is Dead vid reaches same conclusion). Which reminds me, I’m flabbergasted why people are so convinced that “Angels” are good, and “Demons” are bad, or that there’s even the slightest difference between the two. Ultrasound Encryption Scheme Makes Artificial Organs Hack-Proof

Securing Implantable Devices: Researchers are testing their system using an implanted device in the abdominal wall of a cow.

Think about it: Would you want someone launching the equivalent of a denial-of-service attack on the device that keeps your heart beating properly?

In an effort to ensure control of implantable devices remains in the proper hands, researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control are developing a security scheme based on ultrasound that determines the exact distance between a medical device and the device attempting to access it. Under the scheme, devices will be accessible to devices up to 10 meters away that complete the required series of authentication procedures. In emergency situations — a heart attack for instance — it will grant access to any device within close proximity to the patient. Otherwise, any device asking for personal data or giving commands to your implant would essentially have to be in the room with you.

Previous security schemes based on proximity have been proposed using standard radio signals, but researchers worry that proximity can be mimicked by an attacker using a radio signal booster. Ultrasound waves layered on top of radio signals ensure that implanted devices can gauge true distance; since the speed of sound is constant, devices can calculate with extreme accuracy the distance between implant and any device attempting access.

While researchers acknowledge that the current risks of attacks on medical devices are relatively small, in the future they will become more and more important as novel new ways to exploit implantable technologies are approved and implemented. Creating the bionic human is only as good as science’s ability to ensure that technology is safe. Because Rickrolling is funny; burning up the batteries in someone’s pacemaker is decidedly not.

Researchers expect brain waves to operate computers, TVs and cell phones

If the idea of turning consumers into true cyborgs sounds creepy, don’t tell Intel researchers. Intel’s Pittsburgh lab aims to develop brain implants that can control all sorts of gadgets directly via brain waves by 2020.

The scientists anticipate that consumers will adapt quickly to the idea, and indeed crave the freedom of not requiring a keyboard, mouse, or remote control for surfing the Web or changing channels. They also predict that people will tire of multi-touch devices such as our precious iPhones, Android smart phones and even Microsoft’s wacky Surface Table.

Turning brain waves into real-world tech action still requires some heavy decoding of brain activity. The Intel team has already made use of fMRI brain scans to match brain patterns with similar thoughts across many test subjects.

Plenty of other researchers have also tinkered in this area. Toyota recently demoed a wheelchair controlled with brainwaves, and University of Utah researchers have created a wireless brain transmitter that allows monkeys to control robotic arms.

There are still more implications to creating a seamless brain interface, besides having more cyborgs running around. If scientists can translate brain waves into specific actions, there’s no reason they could not create a virtual world with a full spectrum of activity tied to those brain waves. That’s right — we’re seeing Matrix creep.

TEACHER & COACH. Body Worlds donor Dina Paige says that her body will help educate people about gender after she dies, because it will be plastinated as part of the Body Worlds project. (beyouwithddp.com)

Paige is the first transgendered person to donate her body to the program, which preserves bodies through a process called “plastination” and puts them on display in cities around the world.

The process was created by German scientist Gunther von Hagens, who initially used plastinated bodies for medical instruction and later created the Body Worlds series of public exhibits. More than 28 million people have seen the exhibit around the world, according to the Body Worlds web site.

Paige, a 54-year-old “full-blooded Italian,” runs her own business coaching transgendered people through the transitioning process and says being part of the Body Worlds exhibit will allow her work to continue long after she dies.

“The preserved bodies will last for a thousand years and beyond. The preservation technique is better than the pharaohs,” she says. “I was born a man, and look like a female, and yet have breasts and a penis. I couldn’t think of a better way for humanity to look at and evaluate the issues of what it means to be male, female, or both.”

Paige says she decided to donate her body when she saw Body Worlds the first time it was in Toronto. The process of donating was simple, she says.

Donors are not paid for their bodies and must cover the cost of shipping the cadaver to the nearest Institute for Plastination embalming centre. Donors must have died of natural causes, must not be autopsied, and must be “largely intact,” according to the Body Worlds web site. Donors who carry infectious diseases like HIV or hepatitis may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Paige recommends that anyone considering donating his or her body should give the matter “sober consideration” and discuss it with their next of kin.

“Let loved ones and relatives who are going to look after the arrangements be very comfortable with it,” she says, noting that her family has been very accepting of her decision.

“My children, who are 29 and 28, are almost sick of me talking about it. I brought my son and daughter to the exhibit and my son is even considering donating his body,” she says.
