I can’t tell you how many foolish profile pics, I have seen with people giving the MYSPACE FACE. It makes me think that somehow everyone thinks that being COOL is what this face is all about. The only thing this face is all about is LOOKING LIKE A FOOL.

The Myspace Face is a hybrid blend of the 3 worst picture poses imaginable…

THE PEACE SIGN

THE BLACK GIRL LIP PUCKER.

THE FACE SCRUNCH-UP

The MYSPACE FACE is pulled off properly by using bodily GEOMETRIC ANGLES. The poser’s Head is usually cocked at an ODDLY JANKY degree, as well as the GIMPY yet STRONG poised PEACE SIGN HAND. If you are a Social Networker, you will notice that this pose is FAVORED with White and Asian Women on MYSPACE, but It ‘s NOT AT ALL limited to Women. MEN do this un-DAMN-cool face all the time. ESPECIALLY Black Men, which usually present the MySpace Face accompanied with the signature.. BOTTOM LIP BITE!! (Most commonly used by Gentlemen like Omarion, Lil MaMa and Tre Songs, etc.) Somehow the MySpace Face pic gives you the impression that they are somehow screaming the word..”YEAAAAAAAAYAH, I THINK I’M FLY” in their mind. They believe that it gives them a whole RAPPERY/ I’M DOPE/I BUST MOVES type of image that only actually makes them appear EXCITED yet ANNOYING at the same time.

There are a lot of things I am cool WITH…..BUT “THE MYSPACE FACE”??? ….IM COOL ON THAT!!!

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT AND SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FRIENDS.

Cliccare Laura Scimone!

Yes I have finally succumbed, no the girls haven’t sent me stir crazy although the request from the 4 year old for highlights in black and pink nearly came close or the 5 year old asking for an iPhone cos all her mates have one… or the 14 year old deciding what tattoo she would like for Christmas.

No, it’s the other Funny Farm, the Facebook one.

Farmville

We meet up with the main players in the courier world at the weekend after a small detour around Stratford. All the couriers are talking about making money on Facebook, and I felt a pang of envy…. I want to make money on Facebook. Imagine the stamping of feet here and all the toys being thrown from the pram. So one of my friends take me aside and even though he had 200 pints and slurred a little, I hung on his every word which I have faithfully reproduced here

“Get a farm on facebook and plant crops, Alison has 37 levels and I am just behind her.“

Plant! OMG, does he have no idea of my track record with plants? and now I need to be doing crops!

The whole place, hundreds of couriers all talking about their farms on Facebook and I didnt have one. Bah. Then another of my friends decided to join Facebook just for the Farm. I thought no, I will not have one of these stupid games. It’s business as usual for me.

All Sunday and most of Monday I avoid Facebook .

Monday evening I find I have a farm, a viking clan and a mafia wars thing. Where did they come from? The Hubby. Apparently I have left my login on his PC and when he needs a boost in one of these games, he adds me. Thanks love.

So I now have a farm, and I can’t just have a basic farm and uninstall it, I have to plant a few of the trees that Andrea Sitler has kindly sent me, and a few haystacks that John Kenworthy has sent me… and my own daughter won’t add me as a neighbour.. yet.

I have no idea what I am doing either, I water plants and clear leaves and am given money. My farm is very small and everyone else has acres and some even have fun fairs on them. I hate it already

If you want me, I am no longer on twitter I am in the Funny Farm on Facebook

There are enormous profits that you can get if you build your own social network. For one, you can have customer preservation and customer loyalty. When users create their own profiles and join your social network, more often than not, they lean to remain there and also create their own social networks. They will also be inviting more of their friends to participate. As their network grows, the smaller is the possibility that they will leave the social networking site. Moreover, the more user get to view your website with your name, brand name, or even marketing slogan, they become more tending to remain loyal to your network. Others can be kind enough to provide donations so you can maintain your network. Most of all, they will start availing of your services or buying your products.

Shared Bookmarking

The most usage and one of the most popular features of social networking sites are shared bookmarking. It means this allows members to keep their favorite websites online. When a person reads a particular article with a link coming from your Social Network, other members of his network will also get to click on the link too. By this way increased traffic going to your content rather than simply publishing them to article directories and your own WebPages and doing nothing afterwards.

Learn about Your Customers Better

There are limitless profiles stored in social networking sites. There are a few of them who can fit into your description of target market. This will permit you to look at your customers at a different viewpoint. You can get an idea of what they are reading, the activities they love to do, what they don’t like, and even the websites that they love to hang out to.

Earn More Revenues

Social networking sites are not only giving you a chance to promote yourself, especially your products and services. You can also generate more passive income through your own Social Network.

Anybody can start a website. Literally anybody. The entire process should take less than two minut

Anybody can start a website. Literally anybody. The entire process should take less than two minutes for a web savvy person. 90% of that time will be used to consider your domain name. For the uninitiated webbie, the process should extend to at least four minutes; in certain – highly unique – instances, five.

But, just because you have a website. Doesn’t mean it’s a good website.

Some things to consider:

How are people going to find it?

If they don’t like what they read will they be able to give you feedback? More importantly…

If they love what they read, how do they tell 10,000 of their closest friends?

Do you want to make money?

Are you selling a product?

Are you creating a product?

Can you do both simultaneously?

Do you want to start a podcast?

Would you like it listed in the iTunes store?

How much do fancy web interfaces cost?

Are they easy to maintain?

How often do you need to update your website to stay current?

Should you integrate a social networking device? Or several?

Will it been an extension of your person or your business?

The list goes on and on and on. Believe it or not, there is a simple, workable answer to every question.

Thankfully, the process doesn’t have to be complicated. To paraphrase a popular iPhone term, if you want a simple website, there’s a path to that.

Behold a perfectly simple, easy to read website.

If you want to jazz up your website and use it to launch an online business that you’d like to start five minutes after yesterday, there’s a path to that, too.

Feast your eyes on an aesthetically pleasing, easy to use online store.

What if you have a business idea that needs a blog component and a lot of product integration? Yup.

The blogging to amplify your business model lies on the other side of this hyperlink.

When you get down to the base level of a website, it’s an opportunity for you to communicate with millions of people when you want and how you want too. It’s a space for people to learn something about you, discover something about themselves and pass along whatever they learn. The cyber version of Pay It Forward.

The foundation for that experience is easy to manage, but you need to start somewhere.

Websites can be brainstormed, built and catered to reach the largest possible audience with my help. It’s about constructing something that fits your personality and moves you closer to your goal; whatever that goal may be.

This week on Monday’s session our case topic was the social networks. We were asked to make brain storming and discuss the following issues :

What types of social networks are there?

How are social networks structured?

What type or roles and connections can people in a network have?

What type of roles and connections you have? How do networks affect your Insight Project?

What ways are there to leverage social networks?

Are there any ways to quantify social network metrics?

What does social capital mean?

Well, what can I say about them… Social networks are like oceans which accommodates thousands of creatures (people), environments (groups) and activities to keep survive like hunting (like socializing and becoming popular). There’s like a mutualist relationship between the social network site providers and the users. The providers make profit and the users use the ability to keep in touch with their friends, relatives, etc and have the chance contact with new people. In addition to that, some users can even make some money by creating applications for that web site, if there’s an API for that.

However, when talking about social networking sites, I think people should consider one very import thing: When they sign up to a site, usually they give most of the information about themselves without questioning the risks in that. More to that, those sites get even more information about you as you become an active user by participating activities, and so on. For instance, Facebook keeps every photo that you upload, information about your relatives, friends, relationship status, sex, religion… anything… Of course you can keep it strict by limiting the information that you give them from the beginning. On the other hand, the question at this point is that, if we really do need social networking sites or not. Isn’t it possible to just keep a phone book, or maybe something more fancy?

Well, maybe it was a bit pessimistic look through to the social networks, but it’s better to criticize these platforms from such angle instead of using them blindly. or don’t know… maybe it’s better just to enjoy socializing for now =)

This everything to do with Sex Show is taking place November 20 – 22, 2009 at the Direct Energy Cent

This everything to do with Sex Show is taking place November 20 – 22, 2009 at the Direct Energy Center downtown Toronto. This is the shows 10 th year and is still going strong. There are many ways to promote this tradeshow through different media types. The Internet is the newest way to promote to a wide range of people.

A new way to reach many different markets through the Internet is Social Networks. The everything to do with sex show has a group page on Facebook. The page has a very poor response with the rest of the network. The group has a small member rate with low and almost limited activity. Considering the event just occurred there aren’t any posts or dissuasions about what happened or any updated photos. Also there is no post information about other sex tradeshows that have occurred across Canada.

The Sex Show has a lot of known sponsors yet on their Facebook page there is only a link to one. There should be links to all of their sponsors websites and to their Facebook group pages. This way they can promote their sponsors and their sponsors should have Everything to do with Sex Show’s website and group page linked to theirs.

Facebook is a great tool to use when promoting tradeshows. Make a group and invite people. Post-relevant information regarding the event such as the 5 W’s in great detail. Have pictures, video clips and discussion boards regarding the trade show. The Everything to do with Sex Show failed to follow these simple rules.

I have always preached that the best utilization of the interactive space is in real life experience

I have always preached that the best utilization of the interactive space is in real life experiences. By that I mean, using digital as a tool for people to have real interactions with the world; not to sit zombie like in front of their computer, waisting away all their social skills on buying people virtual drinks. That is why I have always loved Nike Plus, Meetup, etc.

This means I am truly psyched about Foursquare, a “… location service-based social network-come-game. What it does in effect is to tell you where your friends are and add a little fun to going out in the evening. It’s like Google Lattitude meets a little bit of Facebook, a touch of Twitter, a dash of Qype and even a twist of World of Warcraft. And if that’s not a cocktail for hopeless addiction, then we’re not sure what is.”

It’s a social game that you play using the platform in real life via your mobile – it’s fun for customers and brings in $$$ for small business owners. “Think: 50% friend-finder, 30% social cityguide, 20% nightlife game. We wanted to build something that not only helps you keep up with your friends, but exposes you to new things in and challenges you to explore cities in different ways…”

People earn badges and “mayor statuses” by checking-in to various establishments. “If you tell us where you are, we can tell you which of your friends are nearby. We call this “checking-in”. You can check-in from a park, bar, museum, restaurant, whatever. Badges are little rewards you earn for doing interesting things – e.g. staying out late on a school night or visiting places far outside your neighborhood. A mayor is when “you’ve got more checkins than anyone else at a particular place, we deem you “The Mayor” of that place. But once someone else comes along who has checked in more times that you, they then steal the “Mayor” title back from you.” In certain location the Mayor gets special discounts, privileges, etc.

Overall, I am about to start testing this tool as a client and on a business, will let you know how it goes and I am excited!!!

Interesting read and some examples of “How Google Wave is Changing the News“. Very neat

Interesting read and some examples of “How Google Wave is Changing the News“. Very neat early day experiments.

At the moment, the early adopters of Google Wave are trying things out and playing with it. And this group is likely biased towards the tech savvy ones and spread around the world (thus not necessary local in your city nor even care about things happening in your country). I think it will be dangerous to draw much conclusions from people participating in Wave conversations and then concluding their views as representative of your town/city/society as a whole.

Surveying people “randomly” over the the phone in the early early days of telephone will bound to produce biased result with people who are “rich” enough and “savvy” enough to want a phone in their home. It is probably not fair to survey people on their satellite phones (or Google Wave) to get their views on Oprah ending her show in 2011 and then try to draw some general conclusion.

P.S. I think Google Wave has the potential to be a powerful tool, but we need to see how the experiments pans out first and also what we learn from these experiments. For example, a Wave that collects factual eye witness accounts of a notable event (a fire, a concert, an accident, etc) may be a neat way to use Wave.

Now I want to see some Canadian news media doing some Waving! How about CBC News, as the leader in many things internet, you want to give it a try?

Fantascienza? No, a quanto pare esiste.

[Ralf]
