If you receive disability benefits from Social Security your children may be eligible for payment as

If you receive disability benefits from Social Security your children may be eligible for payment as well. Here is what you need to know about receiving additional disability payments for your children.

If you receive Social Security disability payments (not SSI benefits) your children are eligible for payments if you record will support them. Your children do not have to be living with you and are eligible for payment until they reach the age of 18 years old or graduate from high school as long as you are eligible for payments.

When calculating your benefit amount there are two figures Social Security uses on your record. Your benefit amount is derived from what Social Security calls your Primary Insurance Amount or PIA. This figure is derived from the years of work you have where you paid Social Security taxes. The PIA on your record determines how much your disability check will be each month. The second amount on your record that determines if your children are eligible is the Family Maximum. This amount is also derived from your work history.

If the Family Maximum is greater than the Primary Insurance Amount (PIA) on your record your children are eligible for monthly payments. The amount your children are eligible for is up to 50% of what you receive not to exceed the Family Maximum. For example: if your disability check from Social Security is $1000 and your Family Maximum is equal to $2,000, each of your two children will receive a check for $500 per month.

Obama might just be a big blow-hard because it appears that he does not know how to fight and win

Obama might just be a big blow-hard because it appears that he does not know how to fight and win a war whether in Afghanistan or here at home. I do not believe Obama wants to win any war because, if he wanted to win, he would avoid a war of attrition/population control, like Vietnam, by sending enough troops to crush the enemy as fast as possible, thus, saving innumerable lives. Instead, Obama talks out three sides of where his sun don’t shine: his Secular, Muslim, and Christian sides to appease deluded morons….
Obama does not listen to anyone we know, not his general who wanted 60,000 troops, or to the American people fighting the war of cultural conflict and subversion going on in our communities( promoted, and aided, by our own Gov’t) that seems to be rapidly spreading; the recent incident at Ft. Hood and the Muslim recruiting grounds within our jails and prisons are good examples of this….
People should not always play follow the leader-remember what happened with Hitler and a number of other famous dictators….
So, lets devle into the darker side of Gov’t corruption and investigate the fastest growing SSI subculture being created by our Gov’t today-all in order to bankrupt and undermine our Democratic Republic….
Our Gov’t is carrying out a domestic foreign invasion here in the US by allowing millions of legal (those with visas and commonwealth status) and illegal immigrants to flood across our borders at will. Many of these immigrants end up with some type of mental and physical diagnosis placing them and/or their anchor baby children on SSI payrolls; Thus, bankrupting and undermining our schooling system both public and at home, our healthcare system both public and at home, our jails, prisons, institutions, Religion, Culture, Constitution, our form of Gov’t and Voting….
Our Gov’t gives these immigrants free food, free money, free subsidized homes, cars, jobs, businesses, schooling, healthcare, and are allowed to mysteriously vote….
Many of our communities have been transformed-in short periods of time-into third world socialized ghettos; boiling pots of cultural conflict and subversion with many of our young girls and women getting hooked on drugs, knocked up by multiple partners, or having multiple abortions, and the list goes on….
Many of these legal and illegal immigrants that I’ve came into contact with are strongly anti-American and are subversive in their speech, lifestyles (displaying flags and gang colors from their own country in their homes, cars, key chains, clothing, tattoos; and criminal activities) and attitudes(Massive reverse discrimination)….
These Gov’t strong-arm divide and conquer tactics being implimented against us have by and large leveled the American people and our playing field….
Many unemployed American men are being jailed, institutionalized, made homeless, or diagnosed with something or another, and placed on SSI-with medications….
Men and young men here in America have no rights to their children born or unborn, and are increasingly encountering sexism in hiring practices….
White men have no affirmative action protection. With over half the work force, and half the homes with children in them today being made up of many single moms working in Gov’t jobs, Gov’t subsidized jobs, and in low paying jobs, in which many are receiving Gov’t SSI (with mental medications) benefits, or some other kinds of benefits, for themselves and their children….
I have seen households with up to three children in it each receiving SSI with a Gov’t program that pays a part of the mortgage and taxes on the house the Gov’t is helping them purchase. In many of these homes, not one family member could speak proper english-if at all! They received in-home healthcare, in-home school tutoring, new to fairly new car, child care money for the boyfriend baby sitting, and the list goes on….
I really do not know how much longer the Gov’t can support all this subsidized living while they, at the same time, are stripping out the private job sector and bankrupting the future unborn American….

I’m not going to argue statistics, or what politician did the worst because statistics and

I’m not going to argue statistics, or what politician did the worst because statistics and history are not exact sciences and can be manipulated by those making them and telling it…. Glenn Beck said on his show that the average income of those in the private sector is $27,000 a year. I believe this amount to be closer to the truth because of what I see and hear in society….
What I see and hear on the streets, in the work place, and in the homes I’ve visited is how I filter out the truth from the facts. If reality and fact don’t mesh then I throw it out as pure B.S…
This is what I’ve been able to put together from my studies: 85% of all small business fails within the first year in our country as the result of the big hole left in our economy from big business, indusrtry, manufacturing, small and mid-size farms, being wiped out by global corporations and big Gov’t. working together in unison to empower and enrich eachother…. 5/6 of all business revenues going through our communities ends up in the hands of the top 1-2% of our population…. So, if your given stats stating that there are so many small businesses in our country at a certain point in time-don’t you beliieve it-it is a shell game and a lie!
The American people pay for the business in this country going bankrupt, or getting shipped over seas, through high taxation, loss of jobs, loss of investments, FDIC insurance, IMF corporate welfare, more social programes, and the hiring of more Gov’t workers to control the unemployed…. On the other hand, the global, corporate, Gov’t., socialists have stuffed trillions of our money into off shore bank accounts…. This is how we got a hidden deficit of $65-trillion and an overt deficit of $12-trillion; this representing our jobs and investments that use to circulate in our communities keeping our economy strong and vibrant for our security and our childrens future…. According to the Zogby poll there are now a known 1000 billionaires, or multi-billionaires I should add, in our country alone…. Talk about greed and corruption!!!!
The powers that be are in control of us, our institutions, resources, and they call all the shots; I call them: The Global, Corporate, Gov’t, Socialist party…. The Democrat and Republican partys have not existed for a very long time…. Almost everything you hear or see from this entity and its collaborators is based upon lies and deception because the stakes are so tremendous…and anyone that thinks otherwise is in for a rude awakening….
The US can not compete with communist and socialist dictatorships that do not believe in a free anything…and never will…. This is where our powers that be are taking us all globally: The ruling political body and their hired henchmen own and control the corporations, wealth, resources, weapons, and people. This is how these dictatorships are able to kill their people and work their people to death in prison complex societies (we have a few of these already) for little or nothing; and thereby take control of, or wipe out, our business, our jobs, our realestate and, our country…. All I can say to youis welcome to the USSA….
My economics professor who was a retired corporate exec. said he did not have a clue as to why the economy kept going without completey collapsing. I stated that The corporate/gov’t. crooks were using the deficit money machine to keep things going until they have completely stripped the real wealth and power away from the American people in order to control everything on a global scale. Once the crooks feel as though they have damaged us enough the economy will either completely colapse and the people revolt or a new totalitarian system will emerge…. He agreed….
One of my main concerns with all the networks and their personalities is that they all avoid the topic about the flood of legal immmigrants into our country. Our Gov’t. has allowed, and assisted, large segments of third world populations to be transplanted into our already overcrowded and bankrupt communities. In my lack of private job sector community, up to 90% of the people receive some sort of Gov’t. subsidies to keep a roof over their heads….This is not the American way of life, and all the crooks in our Gov’t., along with their global, corporate, socialist, masters are responsible for where our nation is today….
All this creates a need for bigger Gov’t. to control and police us all. It’s pretty pathetic when a toll collector makes eighty-grand a year, and that is about 12% higher then the highest paid private sector union worker (what’s left of them). Gov’t is the biggest employer, with the biggest union today, and that is unconstitutional….
Don’t forget about the millions of so called recent or modern legal immigrants (those with visas and comonwealth status) who are flooding across all our borders from all around our country, at will, with full support from our Gov’t; at our expense….
We, the American people, already had an established culture and population until our Gov’t saw fit to impliment an all out domestic foreign invasion against us to bankrupt us, undermine us, our religion, and our Democratic Republic….
Now our cities, smaller communities, schools, hospitals, job market, jails, and prisons are over-crowded and morally and financially bankrupt…turned into socialized third world ghettos over night; boiling pots of cultural conflict and subversion….
Instead of immigrants being let into our country in a very controlled and moderated manner, and assimulated into our culture and way of life, as was intended by our Founding Fathers, we have a corrupt Gov’t using immigration to rob us, gain full control over us, or destroy us….
We should take our borders and our Gov’t back-if it is not too late? Many of these modern or recent immigrants should be returned to their own countries so they can fight to make their home country their own, like we had to do against King GeorgeGeorge III and his men…. It is said that history repeats itself….
People confuse necessary social functions that are beneficial to the overall society with the concentration of wealth, power, resources, and control, into the hands of the top 1-3% of our population…. I’m sorry you miss the seriousness in plot and theme…. I will break it down even more for you, and maybe you can get yourself a RED STAR….
Let me find out your one of those monkey people who worship and serve the monkey gods and those in the monkey god Gov’t…. If you serve and worship hard enough the monkey administrators will give you back some of the bananas they stole from you, your family, and the rest of the monkey society….
In the monkey kingdom you can kill all the monkeys you want without any real cosequence, you can kill your monkey babies, afterall, they are just monkeys, or you can kill any monkey the monkey gods tell you to kill…and hey…you can really monkey around with any monkey you want, any way you want…. Just be careful you don’t get caught by the monkey police and end up in a monkey jail….Just imagine what they could have you do on the monkey bars if it gets over-crowded; the monkey guards will send you to their monkey heaven…. Get the picture Mr. Liberal?
We the American people have to make real change happen at voting time. In the mean time we all need to shut down the big liberal, fascist, media machine that tries to keep people voting for either a Democrat or a Republican; when in reality, they are one and the same in implimenting their actual agenda against the American people and our Democratic Republic; don’t let them fool you again….
On the other hand, I really do not trust third party candidates who are switch-overs from either of the so-called two parties; I call them ringers being used to undermine the third parties and their efforts….
Recently, in our local elections, all the same old candidates were running on all party tickets-it was strange to say the least, they just should of had one party listed for us to vote from…. The stranger yet, was that no one said a word about it! Yep! not one peep! It goes to show just how brainwashed and controlled people really are by the current dark regime controlling our country and its institutions….
It is also apparent that the ability to comprehend what is read or said is not a strong trait in the indoctrinated Democrat and Republican party member. Their Democrat/Republican lens that they view the world through clouds their higher cognitive ability, affecting their ability, to think objectively towards things that run contrary to their Democrat/Republican indoctrination…. This higher cognitive function is found lacking in about 30-40% of the entire adolecent and adult population…so you are not a lone….
Corporate, Gov’t., Socialists…. All we need to do is take back Our Gov’t., Country, and Our Borders from these Fascist, Global, Pirates before all is lost…. This means that the actual, American, people need some good old fashion community organizations with a strong leadership network ( I’m not referring to Barak Hussein Obama and ACORN) in our communities….
In a supposedly free country like ours, we can’t even get our Supreme Court to uphold or enforce our constitution and honestly serve the best interest of the majority its people: one good example of this lies in the fact that the Supreme Court refused to honestly prove to the citizens of our great nation the true immigrant status of our new president, Barak Hussein Obama, and his true anti-American activities, and /or affiliations….The list goes on….
I’m sorry that so many are so defensive of Obama that they miss the all out attack on, and challege to, our overall, corrupt, US political body who are lining their pockets right along with their corporate, socialist, masters who are hell-bent on the complete destruction of our way of life and country….
Barak Hussein Obama just happens to be at the head of the serpent at this point in time wherein the historical bringing down of our Democratic Republic has been greatly eccelerated….
It is sad that some people feel as though the American people need to trade off their jobs, religion, freedom, and way of life, for dependency on big Gov’t social programs that are morally and financially bankrupt…. You can’t eat an I.O.U….
Our Gov’t., along with their corporate, socialist, masters have devised, and implemented, unconstitutional-illegal-trade agreements and policies that are dead against the best interests of the American people, and are being used (like immigration, and wars of attrition for population control) to completely rob, control, or destroy us and our unborn…All wars can be won if they are fought to be won….
The nobel prize is now a joke and a farce right along with the people who issued it soley to promote their own political bias and agenda; and that does not bode well for the American people or their way of life….I never thought that anyone could get a nobel prize for sophistry…except for maybe the devil himself….
I also want to note that Gov’t employee unions are the biggest unions in our country today…. Big elements of this union are healthcare companies, food service companies, super markets, and many other affiliated companies or business…. Keep in mind the many different types of governmental agencies that are also a part of the unions and its affiliates….
I do know that these Gov’t unions contribute millions to both of the so called Democrat/Republican political parties…. The Gov’t unions gave Bill Clinton about $22-million during his last campaign run at a dinner they held for him in Washington; Mr. Clinton stuffed it all in his bank account….
The problem with the shifting of taxes to the 98% of us is that the Gov’t employees, and those working in companies and jobs supported by Gov’t subsidies, are paying in most of the taxes, ( outside of the top 1-2% ) since Gov’t is now the biggest employer on all levels…. So, how would you classify this type of trickle effect? Unconstitutional-maybe?
It is apparent that our supreme court and our other vital institutions have all been infiltrated by perverts, baby killers, and other nefarious fringe elements who are attempting to legislate their will upon us and our children….
Even modern day television shows are all about how to be the perfectly normal, everyday, liberal thinking citizen; American role models as to how to think, act, and live out your every day liberal life…. Might as well take a gun and blow your brains out all over the sidewalk…. There is no God, so what difference would it make-anyway…. Were all just a bunch of earthworms, monkeys, anti-christian, anti-America, and anti-God freaks from hell….
Our constitution needs to be enforced to protect our nation of people and our way of life…. You can go to Russia with all the mis-guided liberal reasoning and see how it will fly over there….
It is the will of the majority that dictates the function of our Gov’t. to maintain civil rest…. If a minority chooses to upsurp the will of the majority to claim rights that never existed and were never meant to exist then social unrest will ensue…. So, here we are….

Barack Hussein Obama THINKS he is doing a great job his first year in office, RWD has many questions

Barack Hussein Obama THINKS he is doing a great job his first year in office, RWD has many questions that point to a grade different than the B+ he gave himself. I did a bit of research on nominations for appointments Obama has made for cabinet, staff advisory and department positions that have shown badly and were either dropped by Obama or withdrawn by the appointee. Below you will find a listing of SOME of those appointments gone bad!

We have Timothy Geithner who doen’t pay his income taxes being put in charge of the Treasury Department and overseeing the IRS. In addition it seems he has an “undocumented alien” as a houskeeper. He is currently serving as Secretary of The Treasury!

We also have Ken Jennings who is a Homosexual Advoate in charge of safety in education at the Department of Education. Jennings is a proponent of teaching homosexuality in schools and is the founder of The Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network . Of course he currently is on staff of the Department of Education.

Then we have the likes of Chai Feldblum, who is Obama’s nominee for the EEOC,who throws her support to government-recognized polygamy, relationships other than traditional marriage between two people, same-sex or otherwise (what the hell is “otherwise”, she is a lesbian gay rights attorney who believes that sexual freedom tops religion. Need I say more on Ms. Feldblum?

We also saw Van Jones the environmental activist who called all Republicans “assholes” and was a member of several socialist organizations. Possibly one of Jones’ most egregious positions is that he believed and promoted 9/11 as an “inside job”.

Along comes Sen. Tom Daschle, who was to be the new head of Health and Human Services, that it seems forgot to pay an exorbitant amount of taxes and some questionable “lobbying” associations.
Of course we can’t forget Gov. Bill Richardson, Obama’s appointee to be Secretary of Commerce, who was/is bing investigated by a federal grand jury fin a pay for play situation while he was New Mexico’s Governor with a California firm.

It was Obama ” who said that Nancy Killefer’s appointment was “one of the most important he would be making” to the new position of performance czar. That appointment was called into question for her failure to pay taxes on household help unemployment taxes and a tax lien on her home for unpaid UEC yaxes by the District of Columbia. She of course pulled the pin and resigned before she started.

John Cannon, who was nominated by Obama to the number two post in the EPA left because a group, of which he was a board member (America’s Clean Water Foundation) was the subject of governmental close scrutiny.

Obama selected Arne Duncan as his Secretary of Education and Duncan was confirmed. The main problem with Duncan, another Harvard educated friend of Obama and William Ayres, is that while the head of The Chicago Public School system (CPS), the CPS deteriorated and learning scores dropped or were stagnant at best. The best reason for Obama to appoint Duncan was either his frendship, a big donation or Mayor Richard M. Daley told him to do it!

Here is one I can’t believe; Rosa Brooks was appointed by Obama as senior advisor to the Under Secretary of Defense for Military Policy. Rosa Brooks has been an attorney for George Soros, a Law Professor at GoergeTown University, she is a rabid leftist who has called the Bush administration viles names and taken them to task for everything from economics to blame for Al Queada’s growth in the terrorist world. She called Cheney and Bush psychos to be dealt with like psychos, referring to their “crimes”. Her actions and comments in the past have shown her to be stronly anti-sematic. It appears safe to say that this fellow traveler of Obama’s is another liberal lunatic.

This one alomst takes the prize for idiocy, John Holdren, appointed “science czar, has championed forced abortions and sterilization since prior to 1977. He once advocated a shocking approach to the “population crisis” feared by scientists at the time: namely, compulsory abortions in the U.S. and a “Planetary Regime” with the power to enforce human reproduction restrictions. In 1977, when many scientists were alarmed by predictions of harmful environmental effects of human population growth, Holdren teamed with Paul R. Ehrlich, author of “The Population Bomb,” and his wife, Anne, to pen “Ecoscience: Population, Resources.

The Democratic Party is waging an intergenerational war. Their primary targets? Those of us who are

The Democratic Party is waging an intergenerational war. Their primary targets? Those of us who are 35 years old and younger. The question is: Are we going to fight or are we going to surrender?

Socialists, by definition, are the enemies of youth. The Marxist imperative — “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” — exhorts socialists to enslave the young, requiring our hard work and then taking what we earn from our work and giving it to older generations.

Who will pay for insolvent entitlements for the elderly like Social Security and Medicare? We will. Those well over the age of 35 initiated the government takeover of health care, but we will benefit the least from it while paying the most for it (h/t The Two Malcontents). Those over the age of 35 are engaging in massive deficit spending primarily for their own benefit, but we will bear the responsibility of paying that debt back. Congressmen and senators who are far older than 35 are planning to implement the largest tax increase in American history in the dubious pursuit of curbing carbon emissions, but citizens under 35 will pay those taxes and suffer through the job loss created by such stifling taxation.

Democrats at the state and local levels won’t balance their budgets by cutting spending. So what do they do instead? In Pittsburgh, they tax your college tuition to pay pensions, insisting that providing income for the retired is more important than your education. You can bet that a similar tax is coming to a college town near you. Meanwhile, in California, college tuition is going up 32% because of the ineptitude of liberal Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Democratic legislature. Here in Ohio, at my own Ohio University, I’m looking forward to a 3.5% tuition increase next year because of fiscal irresponsibility on the part of Gov. Ted Strickland and OU administrators.

People from our generation turned out in record numbers to elect Barack Obama last year and give Democrats huge majorities in both chambers of Congress. Maybe you were one of them. I was, and I’m smart enough to regret it today because I see them using their power to subjugate my future to the insatiable hunger of the state. How many Pittsburgh students do you think helped elect Democratic Mayor Luke Ravenstahl? How many UC students helped elect the legislators responsible for their 32% tuition increase? How many OU students hit the ballot box for Ted Strickland?

If you were duped like I was duped, it’s a forgivable offense. The genius of socialism is that it exploits youthful inexperience and idealism to its own advantage. Socialists make utopian promises of hope and change, of slowing the rise of the oceans and healing the planet, but they never explain to the young people they’re busy mesmerizing that these promises come at a cost. The cost is your freedom and prosperity, yours specifically.

If you were duped, you’re forgiven. But the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. I began this post asking a very simple question: Will we fight or will we surrender? If we turn our heads and ignore the political process next year and in 2012, we surrender. If we get all wrapped up in fads and third parties that aren’t electorally viable, if we declare ourselves Anarchists or Greens or Libertarians, we surrender. If we go back to the ballot box and cast votes for the same Democrats who are waging intergenerational war against us, we surrender.

I, for one, am going to fight. If you want to fight, if you’re not willing to give up your freedom and prosperity in exchange for empty utopian promises, then you should join me. The alternative, the only alternative, is the only existing political opposition — and that is the Republican Party. It’s at a crossroads right now, a time of soul-searching and getting back to basics. Those of us who are under 35 have a historic opportunity to participate, to push for a libertarian Republican Party with a live and let live agenda consistent with our generation’s principles. We can either participate or we can withraw. But remember, withdrawal is surrender and your future, yours, is at stake.

Don’t surrender. Fight. Join the Republican resistance and demand freedom and prosperity for Generations Y and Z. This is your wake-up call.

UPDATE: Eric Dondero has graciously decided to feature this post on his blog, Libertarian Republican.
As we’ve stressed several times throughout the course of this blog, here at Buildium we’re huge prop

As we’ve stressed several times throughout the course of this blog, here at Buildium we’re huge proponents of tenant screening. While some situations can’t be avoided and there’s always an exception to every rule, tenant screening is certainly one of the most sure-fire ways to guarantee that tenants with the most potential to be problematic never make it to move-in day. For basic information on tenant screening, we hope you’ll check out this previous blog post. And now we’d like to get into some of the more specific tenant-screening topics, including who should pay for tenant screening and what you should do with the information once you’ve received it.

A couple things to keep in mind first, though. When seeking out the appropriate tenant screening solution for your property management business, you want a system that is both robust (in other words, it will provide you with a complete picture of potential tenants’ credit and criminal records) and secure.

Who pays?
This is one of those questions that doesn’t have a single answer. Ultimately, it is up to you whether you or your tenant pays for the screening process. The simple answer is to have tenants pay because, obviously, costs for screenings can add up quickly. Keep in mind, however, that because competing property managers may not have tenants pay for screening, you risk losing potentially good tenants who are looking to save a few bucks during the application process.

If you do opt to bear the costs of tenant screening on your own, it stands to reason that you will want the most thorough option available, without sacrificing accurate information. In our business, we’ve talked with a lot of property managers and know that smaller landlords can have a difficult time keeping up with more expensive resources larger property management companies have access to. Which is why we’ve formed a partnership with one of the nation’s top credit reporting companies, TransUnion. Property managers can access TransUnion services directly through Buildium software, enter in quick identifying information (such as an applicant’s Social Security Number), and receive all the credit and criminal record information necessary to make an informed decision. Best of all, there are no hefty monthly fees to contend with. This system allows you to pay only for the records you access, avoiding set-up charges and other hidden fees.

What do I do with the information?
There is both a literal and more figurative answer to this question. First the literal, which may sound obvious but bears repeating, nonetheless. Remember that the information you receive throughout the course of a credit check is personal, confidential information. It’s extremely important to protect potential tenants’ information, even if you do not end up renting to them. Make sure any credit check information obtained is either carefully stored in a tenant’s secured file (accessible only on a must-have basis) or, if you do not rent to the tenant, destroyed. Some landlords pass credit check information directly off to the potential tenant in question so that he may decide what to do with this information, whether that be destroying it or keeping it in his own personal records.

On a more figurative level, once you obtain tenant screening information, you should carefully consider it and weight it against other factors. For example, a tenant who has a clean credit and criminal record but questionable references from previous landlords may not be your best bet. On the other hand, a potential tenant who turns up a report with a mark or two against him from a few years back but receives a glowing recommendation from his current landlord may be someone you want in your rental.

Credit and criminal reports should always be obtained before renting to any tenant (no matter how great a first impression they make), but it’s also always important to weigh information obtained with personal and professional recommendations. You want to not only make sure you rent to someone who can pay their rent … but also someone you enjoy having in your property.

PA Senator David Argall was the chief architect of the 2005 “midnight pay raise” that included a 50% raise in his pension. Besides this sneaky thievery of tax payers money, Argall also had one of the highest “per diem” while serving as a Legislator. When asked about his expenses, he whined about living 1.5 hours from Harrisburg. Boo hoo.

Now this crook and liar is planning on running as the Republican candidate in the PA 17th Congressional District. The only jobs that David Argall has ever had were jobs where he could collect his paycheck from the taxpayers of Pennsylvania. In March of 2009, David Argall won his current seat as a Senator in Pennsylvania. In 2010, he wants to move to Washington DC as a member of the House with a larger “per diem”. Of course, being a Republican, Argall supports the GOP plan to privatize Social Security and decrease Medicare benefits. If Argall gets elected to the US Congress, you better believe that senior citizens will suffer loses while big banks and big corporations will be allowed to steal more money from the tax payers. It’s the GOP way and Argall will vote to decrease Medicare benefits and vote to privatize Social Security.

Looks like Argall is a quitter, just like Sarah Palin. What’s with these Republicans? Seems like when the going gets tough, they either quit or give themselves a very large raise.

Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions about social security. Our Senators and Congresswomen do n

Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions about social security.

Our Senators and Congresswomen do not pay into Social Security and, of course, they do not collect from it.

You see, Social Security benefits were not suitable for persons of their rare elevation in society. They felt they should have a special plan for themselves So, many years ago they voted in their own benefit plan.

In more recent years, no congress person has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a great plan. For all practical purposes their plan works like this:

When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until they die. Except it may increase from time to time for cost of living adjustments. For example, Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may expect to draw $7, 800,000.00 (that’s Seven Million, Eight-Hundred Thousand Dollars), with their wives drawing $275, 000…00 during the last years of their lives. This is calculated on an average life span for each of those two Dignitaries. Younger Dignitaries who retire at an early age, will receive much more during the rest of their lives.

Their out of pocket cost for this excellent plan is $0.00. NADA!!! ZILCH!!! They do not contribute one dollar to it.

This little perk they voted for themselves is free to them. You and I pick up the tab for this plan. The funds for this fine retirement plan come directly from the General Funds; “OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK”! From our own Social Security Plan, which you and I pay (or have paid) into, every payday until we retire (which amount is matched by our employer), we can expect to get an average of $1,000 per month after retirement.

Or, in other words, we would have to collect our average of $1,000 monthly benefits for 68 years and one (1) month to equal Senator Bill Bradley’s benefits! Social Security could be very good if only one small change were made.

That change would be to make Senators and Congressmen take part in what they feel is good enough for the rest of us. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us. Then sit back and see how fast they would fix it!

It happened quietly at the White House this week — almost like they didn’t want us to notice:

President Obama signed a $1.1 trillion spending bill which increases budgets in many federal agencies by about 10-percent.

The bill includes almost $450 billion for the operating budgets of different departments. Among those seeing increases: The FBI, the Veterans Health Administration and the National Institutes of Health.

Democrats say this spending is critical in order to help the economy out of the recession. But Republicans are slamming what they call out-of-control spending — and criticizing about $4 billion going to more than 5,000 earmarks requested by individual lawmakers.

Doesn’t exactly sound like the change President Obama promised, does it?

One watchdog group says the earmark projects include the construction of a Kentucky Farmer’s market, the renovation of a historic theater in New York and the restoration of a Rhode Island mill.

The bill also approves a 2 percent pay increase for federal workers.

Meanwhile the 50 million Americans receiving Social Security won’t be getting any increase next year — for the first time in more than 3 decades.

So nothing for the country’s seniors… but there’s always money for more government.

Here’s my question to you: Do some federal agencies deserve a 10-percent budget increase when people on Social Security get no increase at all?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Kevin from Lunenberg, Massachusetts writes:
I think a little shared sacrifice is in order here like budget cuts, pay freezes and furloughs for all government workers including Congress. That would go a long way towards telling people they are not alone and that their government feels their pain. But after all this is Washington, what was I thinking?

Joe writes:
What irritates me more about this are the earmarks attached to the bill, which is something the president promised he would end, and the fact that (much like when Congress votes to increase their own salaries) the bill was passed “quietly.” So much for transparency and responsible government.

Remo from Pflugerville, Texas writes:
Transparency? How about slight of hand? I think the “Hope” is now “Nope”! Nope to jobs, spending, refinancing of mortgages, honest politicians, and promises. At least now, everyone’s gotten the idea that it’s business as usual. The only good president is a one-term president. This president couldn’t lead himself out of the men’s room without a committee and 4 weeks of talk.

Raul from Texas writes:
Absolutely not! I am a federal employee. This is just wrong in times like these when the economy is big-time in a depression. When is our government going to learn that there is a spending limit? The elderly deserved a cost of living increase, not the Feds.

Tom writes:
Elderly and disabled people on Social Security should get an increase before any able-bodied people. People who work have the option to work over time or a second job to increase income; the elderly and disabled do not have this option. Let’s take care of our aging population, not hammer an extra nail in the coffin.

Jim from Georgia writes:
Jack, What kind of question is that? You sound like my wife: “Why are we spending money painting the house when I need more shoes?” We do have to run the government I think, don’t we?

George writes:
I’m on Social Security. Need you really ask how I feel?

President Obama told ABC News’ Charles Gibson in an interview that if Congress does not pass health

President Obama told ABC News’ Charles Gibson in an interview that if Congress does not pass health care legislation that will bring down costs, the federal government “will go bankrupt.”

The president laid out a dire scenario of what will happen if his health care reform effort fails.

“If we don’t pass it, here’s the guarantee….your premiums will go up, your employers are going to load up more costs on you,” he said. “Potentially they’re going to drop your coverage, because they just can’t afford an increase of 25 percent, 30 percent in terms of the costs of providing health care to employees each and every year.“

The president said that the costs of Medicare and Medicaid are on an “unsustainable” trajectory and if there is no action taken to bring them down, “the federal government will go bankrupt.”

I think he means that the Federal Government will be unable to pay its debt obligations. According to

www.usdebtclock.org

Medicare and Medicaid is the largest budget item in the national budget. It is bigger than the money allocated to the defense budget.

Medicaid/Medicare: 724,000,000,000

Social Security: 654,000,000,000

Defense: 613,000,000,000

President Obama, I’d hate to break the news to you, but we may already be bankrupt. Health Care Reform is not going to save us. Cutting the size of government by 70-80% might. Let’s try that first.

Democrats want to cut 500 BILLION From Medicare to Pay for the Health Care Bill

Despite giving 1.5 billion to Pakistan and awarding federal employees a 2% pay raise in the last spending bill, Democrats and Obama are determined to stick it to the old and sick by gutting Medicare with 500 BILLION in cuts despite a projected 30% increase in participants. John McCain did introduce an amendment to kill the cuts in Medicare but it was defeated 58 to 42. Two Democrats voted with the Republicans to eliminate the draconian cuts to Medicare.

According to the WSJ Democrats will pay for the Obamacare Health Bill with 500 billion dollars worth of cuts to Medicare. Gutting Medicare will insure health care rationing for seniors. Already in place for senior rationing is Ezekiel Emanuel’s, ( Rahm Emanuel’s brother) “The Complete Lives System” which was successfully lobbied for and included in a former stimulus plan.

Before heading off in an entourage of private jets to Copenhagen the Dems. stuck the knife into the old men and women even further. They gave it a twist and froze S.S. for 2 years.

The senate voted down the amendment to allow cheaper prescription drugs from Canada by a vote of 51-48. 30 Democrats voted against the amendment
They also voted against an amendment that would require congress to have the same health care they are imposing on us.

According to Jacksonville.com. Medicare 2010 will look a lot different. As of January 1, 2010, Obama will cut 40 to 60% in reimbursements for heart disease and 5% for cancer treatment in 2010 and snowballing to 30% by 2013.

Making this bad situation worse, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is also scheduled to cut physician-related Medicare payments for all physicians by an additional 21.2 percent effective Jan. 1.

Year after year we have heard from the Democrats on how the Republicans want to starve seniors and make them eat dog food. Well, it is all shaking out.

The following email was sent to a former college colleague who has decided that she is too good to speak to me anymore, and has now broken some very big laws.

So, now I’m taking matters into my own hands.

You can see what I wrote her, as I’m about to post the email. She is a senior White House staffer. Her name is Cassandra Butts. Who hasn’t done as much as I have in DC or anywhere else. She’s just got that horrific disease, called “I went to Harvard with Obama, I’ve got ‘tude, FUCK OFF you stupid cracker.”

Unfortunately that doesn’t work, is illegal and appalling.

And shows you exactly the attitude of THIS ADMINISTRATION. And will be circulated all over the HILL, the blogosphere and where ever I have to send it.

Because she, just like everyone else in DC with power, doesn’t give a rat’s ass about anybody else. And the only way she got that “power” also called a title on a business card and about as meaningful, was by flushing her morals down the toilet.

When they ARE PUBLIC SERVANTS. Emphasis on the last word. So this is just one of the lessons that dumb ass in the Oval Office is going to start learning if he keeps lying, breaking his word, and playing “I’m going to screw everyone else, give out the best bailout money to my buddies, and fuck the entire US population in the ass, so I can become a billionaire because among other things I own a shitload of pharma stock.

I WANT THAT FUCKING MEETING CASSANDRA. NOW.

And if there are any more delays, there’s going to be further embarrassment. If not your firing, and Obama’s impeachment.

GET IT? Am I using small enough words? For a “biologicially inferior piece of garbage” that the President has made sure to show his contempt for. Not to mention you. And as for Ms. Barnes. That goes for her too.

And the rest of the assholes in Congress who are getting rich off of war, get bribes on the side, to vote against the interests of the people they represent on say healthcare, while we pay for their privileged lives.

That is NOT the change I voted for, nor one I believe in. And the last thing DC needs at this point, is another clueless egomaniac on the loose, who thinks he’s the fucking Messiah. Trust me, he’s a legend in his own fucking mind. BUT HE’S GOING TO FUND MY FUCKING PROJECT.

SO START MAKING THE DATE PRONTO. HE WORKS FOR ME TOO. HE IS THE ULTIMATE PUBLIC SERVANT. NOT THE MESSIAH.

IT’S TIME HE REMEMBERED THAT. INSTEAD OF PLAYING KING FOR A DAY, AND GETTING PISSED OFF WHEN HE IS RIGHTLY CRITICIZED FOR SPENDING FOUR TIMES WHAT THE AVERAGE AMERICAN GETS PAID ANNUALLY, IF THEY STILL HAVE A JOB THAT IS, TO TAKE THE SPOILED MISSUS TO NEW YORK. THANKS TO OBAMA’S POLICIES ON CONTINUED OUTSOURCING, NOT TO MENTION HIS CORRUPT ECONOMIC ADVISORS. WHO SHOULD ALL BE FIRED.

And if you think that is embarrassing, there’s plenty more to come. You dumb clueless bitch. Call me “privileged” again and I’m going to make you eat your fucking words. Go ahead, bail out the banks and ruin my life. THEY DID THIS TO ME YOU BITCH. IS THAT YOUR DEFINITION OF PRIVILEGED? THEN YOU ARE REALLY SICK if not morally depraved. Oh, and I also expect a full investigation of all of the cabinet members who have threatened me, discriminated against me and you have both refused to investigate them, which is part of your job, but the IG’s who did too.

And a hurry it up over at JUSTICE, where you clowns are facing CRIMINAL ASSAULT AND BATTERY CHARGES, conveniently documented by the NYPD. With a witness to boot, so don’t even try to get Bloomberg, another criminal to try to cover that one up.

I don’t take it kindly when DOJ, “Don’t cry for me Pharmantina” Pelosi’s office and the DLCC keep hanging up on me. That is also illegal. Didn’t they teach you that crap at Harvard? Because you sure look as dumb as fuck to me. Not to mention criminal, lawbreaking bastards. Oh, and don’t even mention the word “defamatory” because I have multiple agencies doing so much investigating at this point, with paper work to back it up, on the illegal crap Obama is turning his back on at the municipal, state and federal level, that you are going to look like, as those who have real educations, and speak multiple languages, say, like merde.

Capiche? And the only reason I have edited out your email, is that I still have a modicum of mercy. Although technically it should be listed, per Obama’s promise to make government more accountable, and transparent, on the goddamned White House website. But, silly me, he’s “adjusted his position” on that too. Personally I think the asshole should be “adjusted out of office.”

Also called impeachment for lying his ass off on the way into office in the first place.

You see. You gotta put your ass on the line, and your money where your mouth is.

Because among other things, I’m going to kill that fucking healthcare bill. It’s illegal, it’s immoral and it shows EXACTLY how little Obama really thinks about the people who put their trust in him.

And I think that is disgusting. Oh, and Rambo. FUCK OFF. I’m not afraid of you either.

Gimp Godzilla,

Over and Out.

Alright . . . alright. . . I wasn’t trying to be a “kill joy” but I was just telling him the truth. Baby boomers are those born between 1946 and 1964. My father was born in 1942, making him 4 years shy of holding the baby boomer title.

Since many baby boomers will turn 62 this year and become eligible to claim retirement benefits, I thought the discussion of Social Security or should I say. . . The lack of Social Security discussion would be appropriate. We will be using my father (the honorary “baby boomer” member) as an example throughout this blog series to demonstrate some of the issues with Social Security.

Throughout the past year, the Obama administration noted that Social Security had deteriorated in part because of the recession. They also noted that there is a possibility that the Social Security trust fund may be exhausted in the near future should the economy stay the same.

Will the amount of Social Security allotted in the federal budget be enough to care for these baby boomers kicking and screaming through middle age? I think NOT!

In the case of many California Educators that receive Social Security (like my father). Social Security currently curtails the benefit amount that they provide to State employees. The Social Security benefit that many State and unionized employees receive is often reduced because the member is receiving a retirement benefit from their union.

I am not going to agree or disagree with this federal law. However, I just wanted to put this information out and ask your guys opinion on what you think about this. Do you feel that State employee’s Social Security benefits should be curtailed based on the fact that they might be receiving benefits from their union? Do you believe that this is a solution in fixing our draining Social Security system?

Leave your comments in the section below. I am curious to hear what you guys think. I will reply back in another blog with my thoughts on your comments.

(Inspired by this feature article.)

Old white skin is loose and thin, flimsy between my fingers, like chicken flesh made human. There’s only one patch of skin on a young white woman’s body that even compares to nearly every geriatric inch of an old white woman’s skin — only one… one remote, discreet patch that I can’t recall right now. The first time I stroked old white skin, it felt like the discarded pork fat that killed my pappy. I yearned for it more than Marion Berry craved an 8-ball of cocaine. That singular phrase, “I’m on it like white on rice,” can describe the transparent look and feel of that skin.

Oh, but I had reasons for my craving that were socially sound. For years, I hid behind the notion of young black men leaving their black women under the age of 40 for any white woman with a pulse. A black woman hitting puberty is like Kryptonite to a black man, so I thought. He goes young or younger, average girth or big, average-looking or UGH-LEH or drinks a 40 with his homeys and looking for trouble. Old white women are thrilled to get the black man that they couldn’t get with in their younger, baby-making years, for Civil Rights done happened. It’s not my fault; it’s those black women that wanted me so much that I had to run away.

Well that’s a damn lie. Truthfully, I attract a decent percentage of black women. Heck, some of them aren’t too shabby on the eyes

More than enough black women want me that I could split my paycheck for alimony for a fortnight, but I don’t want them.

I want old white women. And they want me. We look at each other and exchange a sultry glance of lust and fear, passion and purse clenching in those fertile few seconds. And our attraction is based first and foremost on race. Oh, we aren’t one of those pairs who “tear that ass up” with one of a different race or dutifully come together but out of a greater feeling of interracial brotherhood and sisterhood. Not as liberal hippie men and women do we seek each other out. The welfare lines has made it easier to get the mad hookup. Women advertise: ivory frisky for ebony. Men text: I WANT 2 HIT THAT OLD WHYT ASS. We aren’t the same people who cry: Race ain’t all there is, y’all. It is all there is. We want to get with the swirl.

Despite the fact that some amount — I can’t remember the source… let’s say 94 percent — of single Americans have dated outside of their race, that purposeful seeking of the specific other makes some, especially white men, more uncomfortable than Brokeback Mountain.

We are what they blacken and whip: black men and old white women who come together because we want that pasty and dark ass. They are bitter about us taking their unwanted women. Old white women are seventy six and a third times more likely to marry a black man than a white man is to marry one of those… black women. White men can grab statistics out of their air, too, in representing their argument. But in truth, white brothers, we’re after that wrinkled ass, not the commitment and they aren’t long for the Earth anyway.

Yes, that ass!

The men who go after the old white women is a spin-off of black-woman connoisseur Thomas Jefferson’s (also a U.S. president) “always take hold of things by the smooth handle,” for the black man’s handle is large and the old white woman’s handle glove is cavernous. According to some unnamed school of thought, black men turn to white women when baby’s lookin’ fine and they wanna — as the poet Ginuwine once said — “jump on it.” It’s a “damn, girl, you easy” reaction.

When we get to the “damn, girl, you easy” place, they know it, and they are already halfway in the grave. Old white women are more grateful, accommodating and easier to shut up than black women. They know how to cook meatballs, a nearly lost art among the rest of us. An old white women is so damned fine because she knows how to make some meatballs.

Old white women have something black women don’t have anymore: shawls. They clearly know that their necks are delicate. Black women appear to be waiting to catch their death of cold to learn whether they are resilient. Yet old white women know that they are fragile, one step away from fatal pneumonia, something black women would name their child. They make you feel like a man that needs looking after, after you grip it and rip it. I can go all out when I am with them. How many black women can treat a man like a gentleman and a succubus of life energy?

I often felt in my Black period that only during lustful sessions of freakin’ it that the connection between me and the world was as light as cornbread, encompassing my intimacy like a cast iron skillet. It takes a lot of sexin’ for two black people to be in the same room together. These old white women, so alive by the waning days on their calendar, slice through that cornbread and latch on with their delicate bodies, freeing me and I can truly get with it. I am like the driver of a Cadillac hooptie with a fine-ass bitch that can shoot a gun out the window. I know I can yell, “Move bitch, get out the way!” but there’s no need. On the other hand, the last time I waxed some black ass, we chugged along on a crowded bus, and she was like Mabel “Mama” Thomas from What’s Happening, Raj and Dee’s mother that disappeared sometime after the first season and never came up in conversation for some reason.

My current girl, a spry Medicare recipient, seduced me via butterscotch candy at a senior center while I was doing community service. Without saying a word, she felled me under her spell, presented with her drawn-in eyebrows. She didn’t motion me over or ask me to see pictures of her grand kids until she knew that I wouldn’t take her Social Security check. Both quaint and hip, she has a butt that won’t quit. I was asking her if she wanted to go downtown 30 minutes after that candy.

Another afternoon, in that same senior center, a different old white woman, a spry pensioner, asked me to help her off of her feet.

I don’t doubt that there are some old white women who can’t get down on it or make meatballs. Personally, I have not experienced one that can’t. (True, I am not dating some broke-ass woman, but I didn’t do that when I dated black, so clearly and without doubt, I am an equal opportunist.) They look better than black women, they hold, coddle and top it off better than black women. Statistically, their vaginae are only a fraction of a meter larger on average, but they seem friendlier and whiter.

Black women under 40 still have their waistlines and standards — if they ever had them. They carry youth, courage and firm breasts above their plump asses. Perhaps a good part of that firmness is their courage. Even the youngest ones look courageous somehow and deeply fearless. They soldier on despite any setback that would fell the whitest of women. Surely, our culture as much as biology has made them braver, grittier, less-pushover versions of themselves just at the point where black men and old white women and Eskimos are browbeaten within an inch of their lives. Society undervalues the black woman, leaving her scrappy and bold when she realizes under the age of 40 that she’s all that.

With the exception of some college women at Freaknik after a few Mad Dogs, black women don’t turn me on anymore.

That admission put me in the same grouping as the unpopular geek only interested in Asian women. While black men my age will shake their heads at me, not understanding why I’m not chasing down a young, thin white woman, I feel a kinship with the dorky nerds. We are the same, me and that awkward geek, drawn to the exotic object of lust, not caring that the forbidden fruit doesn’t know about the term “baby mama” or prenuptial agreements.

Break down the roots of attractions all you want — like so-called scientists will do, just because — and you won’t be able to formulate a good answer why we want to sink the canoe. Desire pours out like a 40 on Dre Day, and it is delightfully oblivious to others who just don’t know. Yet until just now, I opined that my passion was like affirmative action, because it was a reward for my suffering.

Halfway through my last booty call with a black woman, I realized that little smoke rings of courage and audacity were escaping her ego like fur from a wolf shot down from Sarah Palin’s helicopter. This woman was at least mildly secure in herself, and I wanted to tell her to go fix me some food, submit to me and cater to my every whim. I would have climbed off her and told her to get her ass out, but she seemed to expect that — like she wanted to start a fight. I couldn’t give into her desire and make her louder and angrier. My Northern cousins would describe her general aire as “uptight” or “like the president.” Into the second double dip of ass-freakin’, I wanted to get my ass out and I didn’t notice that she said that she was late because she stopped taking her pill.

What did she think would turn me on more: That I didn’t know she was late because of her not taking her pills since Clinton was president, or that she wanted me to be the father of her baby because we already had three kids?

I cannot even imagine an old white women having a baby without the horrific black magic of modern medicine.

That was my last token black women. I recently came out of my race-exclusive closet and told my friends, “I love old white women. I’m not attracted to uppity black women under 40 and I am not dating them anymore. Really, I don’t love them hoes.”

Nobody was dumbstruck.

If you are receiving social security disability payments and are now facing bankruptcy, do not worry. Your social security disability benefits are safe. Creditors cannot garnish your social security income. By filing for bankruptcy, not only will monthly social security payments be shielded from creditors but any back benefits or lump sum payments will most likely also be protected.

Additionally, social security disability benefits are not included in the means test to determine which type of bankruptcy you are eligible for—chapter 7 or chapter 13. The bankruptcy court may, however, include social security disability benefits into your overall budget for making payments to creditors under a chapter 13 plan.

Looks like the House has raised the debt ceiling temporarily for the next two months, thus avoiding

Looks like the House has raised the debt ceiling temporarily for the next two months, thus avoiding the Conrad-Gregg fast-track “deficit” commission that threatened to make cuts to Social Security and Medicare in the name of reducing the deficit. (See this previous post, and this, and this.) A group of Senators has vowed to hold up an increase in the debt ceiling unless such a commission is put in place. (Funny, why didn’t they try to do that when the previous administration was racking up such huge deficits?)

However, the pressure for some sort of cost-cutting commission is intense. On Monday, a coalition consisting of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, Pew Trust, and Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget held a press conference at the National Press Club to release the report of what they called the “Peterson-Pew Commission on Budget Reform.” The Peterson Foundation was founded in 2008 with an endowment of $1 billion by its namesake, who made his money as a co-founder of the Blackstone Group, a huge multinational investment firm. With that kind of money (Peterson & Pew) behind the call for the fast-track commission, it’s hard to ignore.

Yet, a large coalition of nonprofit groups — more than 40 — has sent a letter to Congress urging it to resist the suggestion that a fast-track commission that starts off with a predisposition to cut social benefits is the right way to work on the deficit. In addition, thousands of individuals have signed a petition that we initiated urging President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Majority Leader Reid to say no to such a commission.

And in a new wrinkle, CNN reported today that the Obama Administration is considering an executive order to create a similar commission. This would be preferable to the commission proposed by Conrad and Gregg:

If Obama signed an executive order to create the commission, however, it would not have the full force of law and thus the outside commission could not mandate that Congress vote up-or-down on the recommendations. This would also give the president more wiggle room to ignore the recommendations if the commission suggests, for example, raising taxes on people earning less than $250,000 a year, which would break an Obama campaign promise.

So, we have the next two months to fight the undemocratic fast-track commission idea. That’s better news than we might have expected…

The Washington Post editorializes what it calls “the coming debt panic,” generated by a realization

The Washington Post editorializes what it calls “the coming debt panic,” generated by a realization that

Getting the debt back down to a reasonable level will require extraordinary, almost unimaginable, fiscal discipline and political cooperation. Failing to do so will lower the national standard of living and ultimately threaten America’s economic stability.

The Post cites the Peterson-Pew Commission on Budget Reform recommendation that Congress move to stabilize the debt-to-GDP ratio at 60 percent over the next decade, as opposed to the 85 percent projected by the Congressional Budget Office, then reduce debt to 40 percent over the longer term. But what would this require?

The deficit level leading to a sustainable ratio of debt to GDP equals the rate of economic growth multiplied by the target debt/GDP ratio. In this case, the target ratio of debt/GDP is 40 percent and the CBO projects an average nominal rate of GDP growth of around 4.6 percent. The result is a budget deficit of 1.8 percent of GDP.

Now consider the budget deficits we’re looking at: CBO projects an average annual deficit over the next 10 years of more than 5 percent of GDP under President Obama’s budget, implying significant tax increases or spending cuts would be needed now. In the following decade, when entitlement spending really kicks in, things will only get more difficult.

If you can’t believe this can be done—and I here expressed some skepticism that our elected officials are capable of doing it—then we have two choices. First, a commission approach to reforming entitlements and potentially the tax code, with representation from across the political spectrum and an expedited process for legislative consideration. Or second, ultimately a true panic situation when it becomes clear that the federal government is unable to get its borrowing under control and our lenders attempt to limit their losses. I sketched out what this might look like here.

Left-leaning groups protest that an entitlement commission bypasses the legislative process. But the alternatives may be even worse.

The above is from an article by Andrew Biggs at the American Enterprise Blog entitlted Our Coming Debt Panic.

Here’s my two cents worth.

The government, as Ronald Reagan told us, IS the problem. We need to get them to stop trying to fix what’s wrong, stop tying our hands behind our backs, and let us get to work fixing things.

The US Debt is now over $12 trillion. You probably knew that. What you may not realize is that we have another cute little item called “unfunded liabilities” on our balance sheet, and that number absolutely dwarfs the debt! It’s over $106 trillion.

If the government promises to pay you something later, rather than now, it’s not called a debt. It works like a debt, but it’s not counted as one. Still, it is money the government is going to have to pay out some day. And if they can’t pay it, guess what they do? There are only three things: Raise taxes, borrow more money, or (gasp) default on the debt. I do not believe we are anywhere close to that nightmare. But it is not a pretty picture.

Check it out for yourself. The US National Debt Clock is now online. It’s too big to fit here, so you’ll have to leave this page. But spend some time with it. It’s fun watching the numbers roll by.

Wait, what?

You mean those are real numbers?

By Richard H. Frank Our esteemed Senate is about to cast their vote to approve Government-controlled

By Richard H. Frank

Our esteemed Senate is about to cast their vote to approve Government-controlled healthcare for all Americans. They have continued an unending rhetoric that any bill passed must “reduce overall costs, provide coverage for all Americans, bend the cost curve downward and not increase the deficit.” They are quick to site the Congressional Budget Office analysis as the authority against which they measure the proposed legislation to meet the above objectives.

Nowhere, however, do they challenge the track record of the CBO for accuracy. One of the most revealing examples is their forecast for the 2002 Budget producing a surplus of $405 billion dollars that actually resulted in a $157 billion deficit. That miss of $562 billion, or 138% should you prefer, is more representative than not of their track record for accuracy. Let us not, however, be too hard on the CBO as they only use the assumptions given to them by the administration in preparing their forecasts. I believe in this case the Clinton Administration may have provided the assumptions.

Should we examine the elements that caused their forecast to be wrong, we find the assumptions to be incorrect in the following areas:

Technical changes – missed by 48%

Economic changes – missed by 17.8%

Tax Relief – missed by 13.5%

Discretionary spending – missed by 14.1%

Mandatory Spending – missed by 6.6%

Technical changes amounted to about one half of the miss by the CBO. Obviously the impact on individual income and capital gains tax bases resulting from the terrorist attacks and slumping stock market could not have been foreseen. However, the exclusion of spending increases, a cap imposed in 1990 were seen as no longer useful as a measure of current policy for projecting discretionary spending. Since Congress was spending in excess of the caps imposed upon them, why consider them in their estimates for the future? So much for a base line budget using historical data as a basis to form any assumption.

The CBO asserts that changes in estimates for tax collections not accounted for by economic conditions and the number of entitlement beneficiaries caused the need for adjustments (misses) to their forecast. How can the CBO not recognize the unfunded obligations from Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid that have this Country on the path to bankruptcy by 2025? Congress needs to stop creating new entitlement programs such as healthcare and address those existing programs that are the fundamental factors in the demise of this Republic.

But NO, Congress will just keep the blinders in place, present those assumptions to the CBO that support their promises for reduced costs, universal coverage, bending the cost curve and not increasing the deficit while burying their heads in the sand to the real costs of the legislation. How stupid do they think the American people are? If the CBO says the cost of the Affordable Health Care for Americans Bill is only $1 trillion, you can bet it is really $3 trillion and adds to the deficit. More importantly, it does nothing to solve the unfunded liability problems of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

Thank God the CBO isn’t managing our personal financial decisions….or are they? Big Government, unfunded liabilities, unchecked spending and the increased national debt are all warned against by the Founders and not provided for in the Constitution. Wake up and stop the drunken Government spending binge being thrust upon us and future generations. CHANGE CONGRESS IN 2010!

Thousands of pages have been dumped into Law and into the Federal Register, un-read, since Obama too

Thousands of pages have been dumped into Law and into the Federal Register, un-read, since Obama took office.

Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison this week after stealing $13 billion from investors in the second largest ponsi scheme in U.S. history (Social Security being the largest). But what of Barack Obama and the 219 U.S. Congressmen who voted this week to steal $1 trillion inter-generationally through cap and trade? Not even counting the ’stimulus’ debacle, this Administration and Congress should, in a just world, be removed from office and sentenced to a similar prison recess. If not for the pain that these half-baked plans will cause our own generation, but for the next three, which may or may not be able to lift this oppressive tax.

President Obama said on prime time television weeks ago that worrying about the U.S. government’s finances “keeps [him] awake at night” and that the country needed to start planning now to tackle soaring deficits. In a pair of interviews on CNBC and Bloomberg television, Obama claimed to lose sleep over the Nation’s debt. Of course, that has not stopped the president from indulging his veritably narcoleptic tendencies, ringing up more debt in a single year than all the presidents in the 220 years prior. This has burdened the Nation with the largest debt in the history of the world.

Thus, trillions of dollars have hemmorhaged from the American people.

All this highlights inherent liberal hypocrisy, especially that of Obama; saying one thing, and doing another. Not that hypocrisy isn’t a modus operandi of most politicians, but for Obama and Democrats, this “on the other hand” approach, brings with it a moral relativism matched only by the Sophists of ancient Greece, and is as dangerous to the civil society today as it was then.

Obama, while campaigning, promised to have all legislation available on-line for five days prior to votes in Congress. The first legislation passed during Obama’s administration—the so called ’stimulus,’ was apparently so critical that the people didn’t need to read the Bill—so important, in fact, that the 1,000 page Act was not read by any of the Senators and Congressmen who voted on the Bill either. Six months later, cap and trade sailed through Congress with a 300 page dump at 3:00 AM the morning of the vote, which again, presumably, was not read and not uploaded to any Internet site—though I haven’t checked TMZ.com.

Most recently, Obama’s is concerned about meddling in Iran’s affairs following a rigged election in which Ahmadinejad got more votes than there were registered voters and the tyrannical regime violently suppressed peaceful protests. Erstwhile, Obama’s doing a great deal of meddling in order to prop up a leftist leader in Honduras who was rightly removed by the Supreme Court and Legislature after an unconstitutional power grab a la Hugo Chavez—who, ironically, supplied the ballots for Zeyala’s illegal election, which was supported by Daniel Noriega and the Castros. Striking, though, to note the parallels between the Iranian debacle and the theft of a Minnesota Senate seat by Al Franken, who also received more votes than there were registered voters in many areas of Minnesota.

Obama? Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

All these Indian-gifts and falsehoods perpetrated by Obama and Democrats are truly not their fault. They honestly don’t see anything wrong with it. In fact, Democrats routinely will out and out state their hypocritical disposition. June 15th, while pitching national health-care, the president spoke to the American Medical Association, and, well, I’ll let you read it from the donkey’s mouth:

Now, I recognize that it will be hard to make some of these changes if doctors feel like they are constantly looking over their shoulder for fear of lawsuits. Some doctors may feel the need to order more tests and treatments to avoid being legally vulnerable. That’s a real issue….I’m not advocating caps on malpractice awards which I believe can be unfair to people who’ve been wrongfully harmed.

In other words, “I understand what the problem is, but I’m going to ram my vision through any way.” This approach extends to foreign policy as well. The president is on record saying that Iran, which has openly stated it intends to end Israel and sponsors terror around the world, has a the same “right” to nuclear weapon capability as civilized nations. But Obama didn’t stop there. In his speech to the entire Muslim world on June 4th in Cairo, Obama claimed to empathize with Jews regarding the Holocaust, then proceeded to equate this with the Palestinians’ self-inflicted perpetual refugee status.

Liberals pretend to know about their opposition, but are in fact clueless.

Time and time again Obama claims to understand his opponents’ stances, and then proceeds to demonstrate exactly how he doesn’t. This is pervasive amongst liberals, who promote equality but support racial quotas because “wise Latinas” might have a leg up on a stodgy old man, and oppose the War in Iraq and support the barbaric practice of abortion, which has killed far more. Obama stated that he personally opposed abortion, and would teach his daughters about morals and values, “but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.” Must be why he supports partial birth abortion and voted multiple times to disallow medical treatment for fully born babies who survived their attempted murder and were to then be left to die in a dark, dank hospital room.

There are nuances and differences between every issue, but on issue after issue, liberals will cast aside promises in order to achieve political ends, or morally equate decadence with virtue, buttressing this with a passing allusion to their adversaries’ protests. In the end, liberals love candidates like Barack Obama because they sound “thoughtful” and “understanding,” because they purport to comprehend opponents’ views while respectfully disagreeing and doing what they like anyway. The proof is in the pudding however, and liberals don’t understand a thing.
