Last week cyber terrorists attacked websites allhiphop.com, sohh.com and dapiff.com, infiltrating through their forums, eventually forcing them to take down their servers. The sites’ usual hiphop related content was replaced with fake headlines and photoshopped images, covered with slurs and hateful messages, accompanying them. (story continued below)

The hacker even went as far to steal personal information about sohh.com employees. Two of the sites, allhiphop and sohh, are still down with sohh.com posting a message about the incident. Both the FBI and the Strategic Alliance Cyber Crime Working Group are working together to investigate. Meanwhile, a figure or group called “Anonymous” take responsibility.

SOHH.com issued a statement about the pricks who sabotaged their site and plastered it with racist and anti-Semitic content.

The loss of SOHH.com was a big one for hip-hop, but they’ll be back, and their official announcement states that they’re “managing this situation on several fronts” and that they’ve “taken down the server to patch the security breach and put in protections for future attacks.”

Speaking on the motivation behind the attack, the statement said:

“We realize the hackers attacked SOHH.com because of our stature in the hip hop space and the people we serve. Unfortunately, we did a poor job of protecting SOHH.com from imminent threats from people who hate our community simply because of it’s racial and ethnic makeup.”

Hip-hop Web sites SOHH.com and AllHipHop.com were forced to temporarily suspend access to their sites on Friday after being targeted by an apparent hate group.

As many of you are already aware, SOHH.com has been under attack by hackers this week. We noticed the first wave of attacks in our vBulletins forums and as of this morning the whole site was compromised.

It appears that hackers are specifically targeting Black, Hispanic, Asian and Jewish youth who ascribe to hip hop culture. Other websites, including AllHipHop and Da Piff forums, have also been compromised or threatened this week.

We are managing this situation on several fronts. We have taken down the server to patch the security breach and put in protections for future attacks. Also, as this is an international issue, it is being addressed by The FBI and the Strategic Alliance Cyber Crime Working Group.

We realize the hackers attacked SOHH.com because of our stature in the hip hop space and the people we serve. Unfortunately, we did a poor job of protecting SOHH.com from imminent threats from people who hate our community simply because of our racial and ethnic makeup.

This has brought to light our vulnerabilities and those of the internet publisher and users as a whole. What’s possible now is for us to join together to identify and eliminate this threat.

Hip-Hop sites are under attack! This is like the 9/11 for hip-hop internet nerds.

In the latest episode of internet nerd wars, someone hacked popular hip-hop website SOHH.com and put up some seriously racist and anti-Semitic shit. The website, which normally publishes news articles, editorials and introduces new music, now includes the headlines “Jews did 9/11″ and “50 Cent Marries a Watermelon”. Very classy hackers, very classy.

The hackers also decided to include a soundtrack to their fuckery, and former 80s phenom/Youtube celebrity Rick Astley provided some musical accompaniment with his classic 1988 banger “Never Gonna Give You Up”. These guys are just so media savvy.

I Just thought I’d keep ya posted, because SOHH.com is a pretty major and well established site with millions of readers a month. Apparently, someone got pissed off with SOHH.com’s macho online-posturing and internet gangsterism, then proceeded to tool up and throw down on their asses. This is a big take down, but it appears that those responsible are not just motivated by internet douchebaggery, but by an intense hatred of minorities and hip-hop, as the picture below illustrates. Not cool.

Check this video about the group responsible. According to the video the perpetrators are called 4Chan, but other people seem to think it was some hacker (or group) called Ebaumsworld. I don’t know…I can’t keep track of all these scary tech savvy racist computer  nerds (please don’t hack me, and leave hip-hop alone). Enjoy the weekend.

Here’s a link to a site that claims to have some background info on this recent episode of skullfuckery. This article is hardly scholarly material, but it does provide some info and clearly comes from people who know way more about this hacker shit than I do. I also have a sneaking suspicion that maybe the authors of this piece actually participated in the attack on SOHH.com (is that snitching?).
