Doodle 248 - Sokka's in Trouble

At first I wanted to draw Sokka getting ready to wallop something with his whale bone club, but then I thought it would be funnier to draw him about to get beat-down himself.  Maybe he tried to play a trick on Toph?

I also did a quick sketch of the Hulk, which started as pencils but I put some inks in because the lines were blurring too much.  Probably should have just left the pencils alone.

O site MTV Movie Blog entrevistou recentemente, em uma conversão do filme Crepúsculo, o ator Jackson Rathbone, que interpreta Sokka.

“Eu tive de fazer muitas cenas de luta” conta o ator.

“Em uma das cenas, eu estou procurando por minha irmã quando três homens surgem e me atacam utilizando espadas. Derrubo o primeiro e já vem outro tentando me acertar por trás. Também uso meu boomerang para afasta-los.”

Rathbone também conta que amou andar em Appa, o bisão gigante voador.

O site LastAirbenderFilm conseguiu uma parte do que parecer ser o projeto do filme, datado para 02 de março deste ano. Nessas páginas, Aang visita o “Spirit World” e nota-se que há algumas diferenças para o desenho. Claro que não sabemos se essas páginas são verdadeira, então não leia acreditando que tudo que está alí é verdade.

A primeira cena mostra Katara falando com um desconhecido. Ela afirma que ele [Aang?] precisa fazer algo, e que vão aguarda-lo retornar. O lugar em que eles estão não é revelado, já que é uma continuação da página anterior. A cena corta para o “Northern Air Temple Prayer Room”.

É noite, e o “Prayer Room” foi transformado em uma prisão. Aang é suspenso por correntes fixadas no teto, inconsciente, então a cena muda para uma floresta enevoada. Aang caminha através da névoa até encontrar uma caverna, a qual um dragão (possivelmente Koh) começa a falar com ele. Ele explica para Aang que existe algumas pessoas da Nação do Fogo que acreditam que o “Spirit World” influencia o homem a chegar ao fim(?). Ele comenta que a Nação do Fogo adquiriu conhecimentos a partir da “Great Library” e que tenham a intenção de utiliza-los incorretamente.

Apesar de Aang prometer detê-los, o Dragão explica que ele não tem muito tempo para dominar os outros três elementos. O Dragão diz que o cometa que iniciou a guerra irá voltar em três anos, dando aos Dobradores de Fogo o controlo sobre suas habilidades, e, portanto, a capacidade de eles mesmos criarem o fogo. A cena termina com o Dragão dizendo para Aang que Katara será muito importante para ele, e o alerta para ser consciente de seus sentimentos e de suas ações.

Esta parte é uma cena mais para frente das citadas anteriormente, com Katara na Tribo da Água do Norte informando uma pessoa desconhecida que o Príncipe Zuko está na cidade, e que ele quer capturar Aang novamente. Em seguida, corta para Zuko arremessando o corpo de Aang para dentro de um tipo de armazém da Tribo da Água. Zuko espera o  anoitecer para fugir com o seu prisioneiro. Aang está desacordado, então corta para ele no “Spirit World” novamente.

Aang conversa com o Dragão, perguntando como derrotar a Nação do Fogo. O Dragão responde que a Nação do Fogo se esqueceu de que todos os elementos são iguais, e que ele deve mostrar-lhes o poder da Dobra da Água. Aang pergunta se ele deve derrotar os solados da Nação do Fogo, e o Dragão responde que sim. Novamente ele pergunta sobre a sua relação com Katara que o Dragão havia mencionado antes. O Dragão explica que ele deve escolher entre estar com Katara ou ser o Avatar.

One of my favorite animated  series – Avatar: Last Airbender – got the nod of the judges from the Peabody Awards to be included in its 2009 list of winners! …

Wow, and I’ve been wanting so much to tell you how beautifully Avatar’s made. The writers must have hard time conceptualizing since its got awesome fighting scenes,  bunch of the most unique characters I’ve ever seen,  an evolving  and interesting turn of events. On other words, this animated series is so much different from the animations from Asia as well as America and yet it feels as if it’s a combination of all these. I mean, maybe it’s rooted in the people who are working behind it. As far as I know, the creators are Caucasian and the animators are hailed form Korea. The main theme though is highly influenced by Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. The English language is used throughout the story. In short, this Nickelodeon masterspiece is plain brilliant.

 On the other hand, the four main characters are always such a delight to watch. Aang just encompasses the  “likablility” for a hero. Toph is as unique as her earth-bending. The “mom” of the group – Katara – can both be powerful and gentle at the same time. Who’d ever forget the “brains” of the group, Sokka.

 But in a nutshell, what makes Avatar so unique is its heavy Asian influence injected onto it’s core story. And just maybe, the reason why this show made it to the Peabody Awards is because of its high cultural and moral values to begin with. It clearly depicts the effects of war not only on children but to the rest of the world.

 I miss the show so much, I’m thinking of watching the whole show from its first season all over again…

Fiz algumas montagens colocando cara-cara os personagens (desenho x filme), apenas para compara-los. Claro que a imagem do desenho é mais detalhada e não tem nexo com a do filme, mas é bom comparar ambas.

According to toy industry news website, Playthings, Spin Master has been named the worldwide master toy licensee for Paramount Pictures’ The Last Airbender. Using “innovative technology that will enable fans to live out their most memorable moments from this epic film,” Spin Master will produce a comprehensive line of products including action figures, vehicles, and playsets.

Adam Beder, Spin Master’s vice president of licensing, had this to say about film and the deal.

“M. Night Shyamalan and Paramount have done an incredible job of adapting the mythology of Avatar…into an imaginative and visually stunning live-action big-screen fantasy adventure film. It’s a natural fit for us to re-create the magic of the film into an original and creative new toy line that children will love.”

Someone caught this on video. I’ve not seen it yet. Spoilers, obviously.

A Youtuber caught some behind the scene footage of Ashley Greene and Kristen Stewart shooting the yellow Porsche scene for “Twilight Saga: New Moon” over in Montepulciano, Italy. Kristen Stewart plays Bella Swan and Ashley Green plays Alice Cullen in the film – Source.

In the first segment of the video (below) Kristen Stewart does a few takes of the scene. It’s the scene just before she finds Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson),and runs to him to give him a big hug.

After they do a few takes of that scene, they just show a lot of people talking and walking around taking pictures. Towards the end, there’s a guy who takes pictures with a group of girls. I’m not really sure what that was about,but he sure looked happy.

Avatar: A Lenda de Aang é uma série animada da Nickelodeon, que vai virar um filme live-action nas mãos de M. Night Shyamalan. O filme ainda está em produção com lançamento previsto para o dia 2 de julho de 2010.

Um garoto de 12 anos, Aang, precisa aprender a controlar os seus poderes para trazer o equilíbrio para o mundo. Neste momento a humanidade está dividida em quatro nações: a Tribo das Águas, o Reino da Terra, a Nação do Fogo e os Nômades do Ar. Dentro destas nações, há pessoas especiais, chamadas de Dobradores, capazes de manipular os seus elementos nativos num tipo de luta, o Bending, espécie de arte marcial combinada com mágica. James Newton Howard vai cuidar da trilha sonora do filme, o que significa que o investimento é pesado no filme e a produção está se esforçando para fazer algo grandioso, já que Howard já teve sete indicações para o Oscar e recentemente fez a trilha sonora para O Cavaleiro das Trevas. watch Avatar The Last Airbender??

If you didn’t know by now…MissHighYellow is the biggest nerd stuck in this “girly girl” body (swear im really a 13 year old boy drooling over Princess Leia in the gold bikini). Im into comic book characters, fiction, fantasy, and anything along the lines of Star Wars, Harry Potter, X-Men, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. Anyways….I’ve been on the streak of watching Avatar on the internet…trying to watch every episode (again) so i can have down pact the plot line and minor details.  This is beacause the live action movie by M. Night Shyamalan is coming out next summer.

Ever since I saw the teaser trailer for it….I’ve been hyped up on Avatar crack (if that makes any sense). Also my main man (husband) Jackson Rathbone is playing Sokka!! AH!!!!!

i have a big thing for white boys. I dont discriminate. But if you gotta smile like Jackson’s….yummy!

but anyways…im just wandering if im the only one who is really excited for this movie. and if im the only one who still watches the cartoon show.

Após ler sobre uma possível imagem de Jack com o cabelo do Sokka, comecei a procurar.

Não é que é verdade? Vasculhando alguns sites sobre Twilight (sequência cujo personagem Jasper é interpretado por Jack) encontrei a bendita foto!

Não está em uma boa qualidade, pois fiz uma pequena montagem, mas podemos perceber que está muito parecido com o de Sokka: base raspada e um “chumasso” no centro.

I can’t wait for the live action – film adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender to be released into the big screen. I was so addicted to the animated production from the start (I was in college, back then) until it aired its series finale around a year ago. Many would think that the show is for kids (yeah, I admit, it was not targeted for my age group), but then who are you to judge the child in me? Right? (*lol)

In a nutshell, Avatar: The Last Airbender chronicles the story of a young boy destined to bring back balance into a world ravaged by greed and war. The main character, Aang, together with his friends must save the world by defeating the Fire Lord thereby ending the destructive war brought about by the fire nation. I no longer want to post details in here and not pre-empt the story for those who are interested to watch or discover why many people are going gaga over it. (For those who prefer to know the story in advance, there’s always Google).

It’s a long wait for the film is due for release on July 2010. Nonetheless, it gives me more time to re-watch the entire Book 1 of the animated series. So it’s just apt for you to follow suit. The DVD copies of the entire series are all out in the market so grab a copy.

The Last Airbender, is the first film in the planned The Last Airbender Trilogy (guys, support it so that production won’t be shelved after the first installement). The film is adapted, directed, and produced by M. Night Shyamalan (director of The Sixth Sense, Signs, and Lady in the Water) and will feature new-comer Noah Ringer as Aang, Nicola Peltz as Katara, Jackson Rathborne as Sokka and Dev Patel (of Slumdog Millionaire fame) as Prince Zuko.

I am pleased to note that James Newton Howard (The Dark Knight, The Sixth Sense, Treasure Planet) will join the production team as Musical Scorer/Composer (?). This is no longer a surprise for me as Newton-Howard has previously worked with Shyamalan before with The Sixth Sense and The Village. Another great news is that Judianna Makovsky will join the team as Costume Designer. She was also the costume designer for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (my personal fave among the series) and Xmen: The Last Stand, to name a few.

Truly, I just cannot wait for my eyes to feast on the visual imagery of M. Night Shyamalan. I hope he does not disappoint me this time. For now, I leave you with the teaser trailer. It might not be much but you have to admit, it does tickle your interest.

He aquí el trailer de la película de una de las series más populares de Nickelodeon a últimas fechas, Avatar: The Last Airbender, donde podremos ver a Ang y a sus amigos Katara y Sokka batallando contra el príncipe Zuko y la nación del fuego, dirigida por el director hindú Night Shyamalan.

Este es apenas el primer trailer de lo que será una trilogía del niño monje, que en su versión en Live Action llevara solo el nombre de The Last Airbender debido a que el director estadounidense James Cameron se quedará con el titulo de Avatar para su próximo filme de extraterrestres.

Ya veremos que depara el futuro para esta cinta que con el primer trailer me ha dejado bastante satisfecho.

   Last night, the first teaser for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, based on the popular anime-style cartoon on the Nickelodeon Channel, debuted on “Entertainment Tonight” and now, you can watch it here or see it in front of Michael Bay’  Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen starting tonight.
   Last week, ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! had a chance to visit the set of the production which had roughly two more weeks of shooting in Shyamalan’s hometown of Philadelphia, most of it taking place in an enormous warehouse that’s been turned into as soundstage as well as other sets being built within an even larger naval yard warehouse. We even saw one amazing set that’s reportedly the largest indoor set on the East Coast, taking up the entire expanse of an airplane hanger.
   We can’t say too much more about what we saw, because the movie doesn’t come out for over a year and we want to save some surprises, though it was one of the better set visits we had done. We basically had a chance to talk to just about everyone involved with the movie, including Shyamalan himself, producer Frank Marshall, and most of the cast including Noah Ringer, who plays Aang the titular “Last Airbender,” actor Dev Patel from the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire who plays Prince Zuko, as well as Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz, appearing as brother and sister Sokka and Katara. We also spoke with Shaun Toub (Crash, The Kite Runner), who plays Zuko’s Uncle Iroh, while Aasif Mandvi (“The Daily Show”) is Commander Zhao, the closest the film comes to an antagonist. We also spoke with production designer Philip Messina, a regular Steven Soderbergh collaborator, about how they came up with some of the amazing sets we saw (as well as the ones they built on location in Greenland), as well as costume designer Judianna Makovsky.
   The film is the first of a planned trilogy, each one centering around a different element, as Aang, Sokka, Katara and Appa, Aang’s giant six-legged flying bison creature, travel this mythical world in hopes of stopping the war that’s brewing between the four tribes as the Fire Nation advances on its neighbors for land. Aang is an Airbender, thought to be the Avatar who can stop the war and maintain peace by learning the powers of the other tribes. Patel’s Zuko is a prince of the Fire Nation who’s been banished, so he wants to get his hands on Aang to prove himself and earn back his father’s respect.
   Obviously, it’s going to be a big movie filled with FX-driven martial arts action, but more importantly, the world and mythology created in Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko’s animated series is giving everyone involved an opportunity to find or redefine themselves.

It’s been well-documented that Shyamalan’s daughters were the ones who introduced him to the cartoon, and since he’d been interested in doing a franchise that would allow him to tell a story over two or three movies, but also one that would allow him to “say something about himself” where his “accent could be complimentary to the piece,” it seemed like a perfect fit.
   To realize the fantastic mythology from the series, Shyamalan assembled an extremely diverse cast with the biggest name actor being one making only his second film appearance! Coming off the huge success of “Slumdog,” Dev Patel has the daunting task of taking on a role that’s far more filled with anger and angst than anything he’s done previously, even admitting he wanted to do something as different from the Danny Boyle Oscar winner as possible. With even less film experience, 12-year-old Noah Ringer is making his film debut, coming from a martial arts background with a number of championships under his black belt; the eloquent young man was also a fan of the cartoon, which made him perfect for the role of Aang. Nicola Peltz and Jackson Rathbone (best known from the “Twilight” movies) will also have more of a chance to show their stuff as the two most important characters in Aang’s journey, two of the Southern Water Tribe who find the avatar encased in ice. (You can see from the teaser that Ringer looks just like Aang, but Rathbone’s personality is very similar to his character, too.)
   Everyone we spoke to had a lot of enlightening thoughts about how Night was bringing the magical characters and situations from the cartoon to life with a number of large-scale martial arts fight sequences that incorporate the powers used by the different characters. To be involved with such demanding scenes, the entire cast went through rigorous training to be able to take part in the martial arts and swordplay the film requires. Once they finish filming, there will be at least nine to ten months of FX work by Industrial Light and Magic, helmed by Pablo Helman (War of the Worlds).
   Unfortunately, Night doesn’t think they’ll have anything new to show at Comic-Con in San Diego next month, being that it’s in such close proximity to the premiere of the teaser trailer. Night wouldn’t even give us a hint of what to expect when we asked him, although he said that it was one long take that he filmed himself. Hopefully, we’ll be able to share more from the set of all that we had a chance to see, because it’s certainly going to be an exciting movie whether or not you’ve ever had a chance to watch the cartoon.
   The Last Airbender opens in theaters on July 2, 2010. Be sure to check out the newly-launched official website as well!

Fuck James Cameron.  True fans know and will forever refer to this movie as AVATAR for that is the name of the cartoon.  He can suck it.

Yes, I’m borderline obsess with the cartoon.  Almost two years ago a co-worker of mine begged me to watch it and give it a chance after I complain that since Yu-Gi-Oh!  (laugh all you want) I hadn’t really found any cartoon that hold my interest with a truly addicting and compelling story and that perhaps-gasp! I had finally grown up.  Cut to a few episodes of Avatar later and I was so hooked, I gingerly watched every repeat no matter how many times I’ve seen the episode (I still do!) giving confirmation that I was not, in fact, in any danger of growing up and giving up my punk-13yrs-old-self.

You can only imagine my horror when they gave the reins to the movie version to M. Night Shyamalan.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of The Sixth Sense (great), Unbreakable (really good and completely under-appreciated), Signs (good scares), The Village (decent) and though I didn’t hated Lady in the Water and The Happening, I was very much disappointed because they were lame; he was way to caught up in the voices in his head and being all self-righteous and self-indulgent for his own good.  So I didn’t and still don’t think he was the right person for the job.  So let’s hope he does the show some justice…… or else I’ll personally have his head.

Now, there’s already a few things I don’t particularly like about this teaser but I’m going to try and calm down and wait ’til we get a full trailer and then vent…. if necessary.  Though I’ll say this:  Aang is not one of those freaking “chosen ones!” I hate the rampant use of this phrase in almost every movie of the last 40 years.  Enough with calling people *chosen ones*  Aang is the Avatar and therefore the spirit of the world at large; it is his job to keep peace between nations and stop evil, he ain’t a prophesies anybody because he’s already *it* and has been since the beginning of times.  Idiots.

Having said that, let the countdown begin!
