A popular news story from yesterday (December 1st) was Solange Magnano, a former Miss Argentina, who passed away following cosmetic surgery.  A sad situation, a case of misplaced values and a tragedy altogether.   Further reading has revealed the pettiness and strange circumstances which led to her death.  Her death was caused by the liquid injections administered at the time of surgery spreading to her lungs and brain, eventually resulting in a respiratory deficiency and her death.  This story became even stranger when it was revealed that the procedure being performed was “Cosmetic Buttocks Surgery.”  Is that necessary? Is that worth an expensive and dangerous surgical procedure?  If anyone needs proof of society’s deterioration in modern times… look no further.

A former Miss Argentina and international model has died three days after undergoing surgery to sculpt her bottom. Solange Magnano, a 38-year-old married mother of twins died of a pulmonary embolism after suffering complications resulting from her cosmetic surgery. She enjoyed a successful modelling career and was named Miss Argentina in 1994. The procedure, which normally involves placing, implants in the buttocks to improve their outline, turned fatal when the liquid injected went into her lungs and brain. The clinic where she was treated performances 15 such procedures daily.

Beyonce took her nephew Julez to see the “Cirque du Soleil” performance in New York during the Holiday break. When is Ms.Knowles gonna have her own children she would make a great mother.Kelis was spotted at a club in LA. If you remember my previous post about how Beyonce Knowles must be stopped, you know that Beyonce is giving way too much unwarranted overconfidence to thousands of devoted fans, as evidenced by the clusterf*ck of “Single Ladies” videos on YouTube in people who shouldn’t even be in the same room as a unitard.  On the flipside of that, there are a select few women (and some closeted males…aka ol’ Pretty-Ricky-G-string-lookin’-boys) who still hate on the chick.  Let me be clear…you will not catch me rockin’ to any of B’s albums on my iPod.  Not that she can’t sing or that her music isn’t good or that I’m just too damn gangsta for it; it just doesn’t appeal to me as a grown-a** man (check your playlists, fellas).  However, I give her mad props for putting the whole R&B/pop music game in a headlock, marryin’ “up”, and staying the f*ck off TMZ, for Christ’s sake. 

In my humble opinion, nothing tells you how insecure a woman is than her feelings toward Beyonce.  While the majority will just go ahead and give her props, there are still a handful who will still go so far as to pontificate on the many failings of Beyonce.  A few months ago, as I was ragging on subpar sister Solange’s George Washington Carver haircut, an angry Solange fan commented on the post, going on and on about how Solange writes for Beyonce and sings better (lol) and so on and so forth.  I was talking about hair and wasn’t really comparing the two sisters, but the Beyonce-hate was in full effect.  Please detach the Haterade I.V. from your arm before you OD.  She doesn’t write her own music allegedly…who does, really, and if they claim to, what proof do you have?  So she wears a weave…who doesn’t?  Keep it 100.

Quite simply, some people just don’t know what to do with B.  They can deal with Ashanti because she kind of resembles a snapping turtle…oh, and she also makes crappy music.  They can deal with Mariah because she dresses like 10 pounds of sh*t in a 10 ounce bag…and because she’s married to Nick Cannon.  They can deal with Whitney because…you get the point.  Haters can’t deal when they’re not given anything to hate on specifically, so they just pretend things are wack that really aren’t.  The moral of the story is this…ladies, men like a confident woman who can point out when another chick is doin’ the damn thang.  So you won’t indulge our Booty Talk-inspired girl-on-girl fetishes…we’ve come to terms with this.  Next best thing is simply giving props where they are due.

J-Lo and Kim Kardashian beware…when the butt begins to fall, just let nature take its course. The seemingly harmless elective surgeries that man has created to firm up, or expand on what nature did not naturally provide to a woman,has once again proven to be fatal.

Sexy Solange Magnano

This weekend, another natural beauty has succumbed to the pressures of maintaining a youthful appearance, rather than to grow old gracefully.  A former Miss Argentina died Sunday after complications arising from plastic surgery on her buttocks, in an attempt to firm up butt,that in her own opinion,had begun to sag.

The AP is reporting…Solange Magnano,38, a mother of twins who won the crown in 1994, died of a pulmonary embolism Sunday after three days in critical condition following a gluteoplasty in Buenos Aires.

Close friend Roberto Piazza said the procedure involved injections and the liquid “went to her lungs and brain.”

“A woman who had everything lost her life to have a slightly firmer behind,” he said.”She lived the life of a goddess, she was the envy of everybody.”

The model Magnano died undergoing a Gluteoplasty – a procedure to either lift the buttocks, or to enlarge the posterior by inserting synthetic implants. It has long been rumored to be the surgery that Kim Kardashian may quite possibly have had to give her ample butt a lift,but it has never been substantiated.

It is an operation favoured by women who want fuller and firmer buttocks, hoping to look like stars such as Jennifer Lopez or Beyoncé Knowles. Dr. Gonzalo Cortes y Tristan said she arrived at his hospital with an acute respiratory deficiency. Her condition deteriorated until she suffered the embolism.

Ms Magnano was buried in her hometown of San Francisco, in the province of Cordoba, in front of 300 people yesterday.

Magnano’s burial Monday was shown on Argentine television.

Ms Magnano was a very succesful fashion model working the runway around the world, and it is reported that in Paris, she was highly sought after to wear top designers clothes because she offered a little different body type. She was different, not a Barbie-like beauty.

Unfortunetly, lately Ms Magnano had given in to her obsession to maintain her youthful appearance, even after giving birth to twins.

The Sun is reporting that…her death has sparked a huge debate in Argentina about the rights and wrongs of cosmetic surgery. Around 50,000 cosmetic operations were carried out in the country last year, up more than 60 per cent in five years.

Increasing numbers of foreigners are travelling to the South America country, as surgery there is relatively cheap.

Tragically, what is left here is the fact that a beautiful,healthy, young mother has died unnecessarily,and her two twins are now left behind to grow up with no mother.

I send out my condolences to Ms Magnano and her family.

Ok…I am posting this because I love the fade on beautiful women. Not all women can pull this look off. You have to have strong feminine features in order to execute this look well, which I believe both Solange Knowles and Amber Rose have. I have cut my hair off twice, once in 2002, and again in 2004. I loved having this style haircut and it drove men absolutely nuts…that’s always a plus…LOL…I am contemplating doing it again very soon. My man has always been a fan of long hair and I’m constantly change my hair because I do hair and women who do hair experiment a lot with their own. She has all the range of Beyonce, but with a little less of the aggressive edge. According to the Youtube site, the original song by the awesome Dirty Projectors was

Looking forward to seeing who actually wins! So I was going to a place that was like having “Best In Neko” and typically I go with my alt that is a grungy type neko for those things, but I know there is also the “kawaii” or cute neko looks and decide to go that way instead. De volta aqui pra falar um pouco mais sobre a premiação mais importante do mundo da música. Nessa 2ª parte vou falar um pouco dos diversos fields, dando mais destaque para os artistas do que para as categorias em si. O Grammy tem muitas categorias e fica meio impossível falar de cada uma sem ser chato e monótono, so here we go!

Começando com o field mais importante, pelo menos pra mim: Pop! Esse ano mais diversificado que nunca, pois ultimamente todo mundo submete seus trabalhos aqui, de Miley Cyrus à Kanye West. E nem tudo que é submetido é o que eu realmente acho que é pop, como por exemplo Amy Winehouse que ganhou 2 Grammys em 2007 nesse field. Come on! Ela é R&B! Esse ano parece estar sendo dominado pelas mulheres, eu vejo duas delas fazendo a dobradinha de Melhor Performance Vocal Pop Feminina e Melhor Álbum Vocal Pop, são elas Kelly Clarkson e Diane Birch com as faixas “Already Gone” e “Nothing But A Miracle” e os álbuns All I Ever Wanted e Bible Belt, respectivamente. Taylor Swift deve marcar presença aqui, visto que a moça submeteu o hit “You Belong With Me” aqui, fechando a categoria das performances eu vejo Miley Cyrus com “The Climb” e Beyoncé com “Halo”. E nos álbuns P!nk, Lily Allen e The Black Eyed Peas devem fechar a categoria. A categoria de Melhor Performance Pop de Grupo ou Duo deve ser a mais diversificada de todas, com a presença pra lá de confirmada dos Peas com o hit do ano “I Gotta Feeling”, um Dance/R&B e aí temos The All-American Rejects com “Gives You Hell”, The Fray com “Never Say Never” e 3OH!3 com “Don’t Trust Me”, os dois primeiros tem uma pegada mais rock e o último é uma mistura de Hip Hop com música eletrônica, e completando a categoria as The Pussycat Dolls com “I Hate This Part”.

Eu gosto de rock, mas não entendo nada e nem conheço tantos representantes do meio. Minhas previsões nesse field são na maioria chutes, mas tem umas indicações que são meio óbvias. Kings Of Leon vem forte com o “Use Somebody” e eu torço por uma vitória consecutiva deles na categoria de Mehor Performance Rock de Grupo ou Duo. Mas dominando as indicados do field eu vejo três nomes: U2, Green Day e Bruce Springsteen. Os três são indicados “obrigatórios” e sempre que fazem algo novo, marcam presença aqui. Marcando presença devem estar também Bob Dylan, Nickleback, The Killers e AC/DC.

Chegamos ao field mais dispustado do ano: o R&B. É muita gente boa com chance de indicação e acredito que essas serão uma surpresa. Quem vai dominar o field? Não é novidade para ninguém, a rainha dos palcos Beyoncé! Ela não vem pra brincadeira não, a moça se submeteu em todas as categorias possíveis e imagináveis. O máximo de indicações que ela pode conseguir aqui são 5 e eu aposto nas 5 indicações, são elas: Melhor Performance Vocal R&B Feminina por “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”, Melhor Performance Tradicional por “At Last”, Melhor Performance Urban/Alternativa por “Scared Of Lonely”, Melhor Canção R&B por “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” e Melhor Álbum de R&B Contemporâneo pelo I Am… Sasha Fierce. Quem deve fazer a festa aqui é a rainha Whitney Houston e o seu comeback, que deve lhe garantir 3 indicações. O comeback do Maxwell deve conseguí-lo o mesmo número de indicações que Whitney. Quem vem forte na categoria é a queridinha do Grammy (pelo menos nas categorias Country) Carrie Underwood, a moça deve faturar mais um Grammy pela colaboração com Randy Travis em “I Told You So”, além de conseguir mais duas indicações com “Just A Dream”, uma de suas melhores músicas. Quem vem forte, ainda mais depois do CMA, é o Lady Antebellum com um dos melhores singles do ano “I Run To You”. Brad Paisley e Keith Urban vêm forte entre os homens, principalmente por causa do dueto “Start A Band” dos dois, que vai bater de frente com o dueto de Carrie e Randy. Entre os indicados também teremos: Martina McBride (torcendo por “I Just Call You Mine”), Reba McIntire, Miranda Lambert, Zac Brown Band, Kenny Chesney e Rascal Flatts.

What do you do if you wanna be a pop star but you’re Beyonce’s little sister? Wouldn’t you hate it if you were in the shadow of a multi-platinum, uber-ultra millionaire pop-icon? It’s like every time you do an album, folks bitch that you’re not Beyonce. Well…uh….that’s like a really big weave to fill. Guess that’s why Solange shaved all her shit off.

What better way to distance yourself from your pop icon big sis than to cover the Dirty Projectors – the hottest hipster band on the scene. Solange just dropped a cover of “Stillness Is The Move” – and it’s kinda super hot!! I didn’t even realize Solange could sing till I heard this. Work it out, girlfrrraan.

I’m so glad black people are turning to indie music for inspiration. My only gripe about Solange’s version is that it’s a touch too R&B. Just because you’re a black singer doesn’t mean you’re chained to R&B. Solange, you’re not Beyonce – you have the power to be completely different. Invent something new! I guess I’m kinda hoping for Solange to be the “M.I.A.” to Beyonce’s “Sasha Fierce.” Is that wishful thinking?

Check this out! I have mixed feelings about this…on the one hand it seems a bit contrived (I can just picture her singing this song onstage alone to backing tracks) but on the other it’s just plain catchy! It also reminds me how blessed I am to play with such amazing musicians that value originality and authenticity! The Dirty Projectors have been on constant rotation on my Ipod and if you haven’t heard them before my favorite album is Bitte Orca.

This is a new design from Solange Fashions called Sassy in Black. This cute dress has 2 skirts in the folder, one you can resize to get that perfect fit. You also get all shirt layers, and a panty & 2 pant layers. The long black hair is from Hal*Hina called Clara in Raven. The Faceted Black Diamond & Earring Set is from Paper Couture. The sexy Black Ankle Boots are new from BAX. They come menu driven with so many options to change the lace, strings, eyelets and metals. These boots are so versatile. The skin is from Curio, Lovely II Sundust [Dark] Fuchsia 2. The Cleavage Enhancer is from Ayumi, I’m wearing the dark undershirt.

And in case you missed it, in a recent interview with HoneyMag, Wale spoke on the rumours surronding his “relationship” with Miss Solange…

“I do love her,” he admits of Solange, flashing a Cheshire. “We’re friends. She’s amazing. She’s a good person. Any single mother contributing to society the way she does — I got a lot of love for them. She’s got to do a lot on her own and raise a young black man in this day and age, so my hat goes off to her. She’s definitely an anomaly. And the way she can do that and manage to do the same things that I complain about having to do.”

His affection is as obvious as a set of flushed cheeks, and impossibly adorable. Wale, the former mixtape rapper from inner city DC, is borderline giddy. “Did you interview Solange about me?” Wale asks. He’s sprawled across his bed; head practically buried in the pillow. “Did she smile when you mentioned my name?”

Awwww, how sweet. Whilst Wale and Solange keep their lips sealed on the status of their relationship, I’ll let these pics do the rest of the talking (taken a while back in Central Park)…

You might have heard Solange Knowles’ cover of Dirty Projectors’ indie-r & b smash hit “Stillness is the Move” but now White Rainbow, ex-label mate of the Dirty P’s presents his “double-dipped, flanged and screwed,” slowed-down version of the Solange cover.
