Well the Falcon is coming along ok, getting back online. Matsui is leaving the Yankees after 9 years of kick ass and he’s going to be playing for the Angels. So I guess it’s time for me to get out of here because I run NY and Goku can kick Superman’s ass anyday of the week!

Reasons For Loving/Hating: The whole Saiyuki series is one of my guilty pleasures because of the gratuitous one-liners, ridiculous action sequences, and hot, hot bishies. The movie is particularly full of these elements.

For those not in the know, Saiyuki is an anime reforging of the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. While this has been beaten like a dead dragon-jeep in the East (it’s like their version of King Arthur), this version manages to be both new and still somewhat faithful to the story (unlike the other anime based off of it: Dragonball).

Saiyki is made up of three series so far (and yes, I mean so far): Gensomaden Saiyki, Saiyki:Reload, and Saiyuki: Reload – Gunlock. There are also two movies: Saiyki:Requiem and Saiyuki:Burial. Requiem happens between the first two series.

Now, the unfortunate thing about this epic is that the english voice cast changed after the first series and movie because a different company took over the project. This led to some serious culture shock for this viewer, who had fallen in love with the english cast the very first time she’d seen it on Netflix Instant Watch.

Now, most of the voice cast of the new version was ok. . . except for my favorite character: Cho Hakkai.

Oh my god, what did they DO to me?

Sorry, dear Hakkai. They destroyed you.

Steve Cannon took over for Braden Hunt (who is an awesome VA) in the second two series, and while I loved him as Chris in Scrapped Princess, he made poor Hakkai sound. . . well. . . far more feminine than normal.

That being said, it was awesome to see the movie, where Braden Hunt plays Hakkai again. This alone made me love the movie.

But there’s more than that. The entire movie is a complete and total mind screw, with every possible enemy in it. I mean, you’ve got demons, zombies, dopplegangers, pretty young shower assassins, shikiami, dragons, and. . . a crazy monk of doom? Oh yes, yes, it’s all in there.

And the Sanzo party pulls out all the stops as well. Every battle tactic they used in the first series is back, including (but not limited to) Hakkai’s mad death-faking skills, Sanzo’s angry trigger-happy banishing gun rampages, Goku’s ferocious hunger-driven madness, and Gojyo’s. . . well. . . he has a shower scene. ‘Nuff said.

Even the themes are pretty deep for this anime, including taking responsibilities for your actions and the nature of humanity. Also, the big bad is a great representation of what can happen to hero-worshippers (fanboys, beware!).

All in all, it’s a great movie for those who love Saiyuki already, though you can watch it without having seen the series and not miss too much, I think. But watch the series. It kicks ass, as Goku would say.

Quem é/foi o verdadeiro herói da humanidade? Cada pessoa poderá ter uma resposta diferente para essa pergunta. Os religiosos dirão que foi seu Messias, e nisso já teremos diversas respostas diferentes, uma de acordo com cada religião. Por outro lado um garotinho poderá dizer que seu herói é o Superman, ou Goku, ou então qualquer outro super-herói de sua preferência.

Agora, quem deles está certo? Todos. Pois na verdade herói é nada mais nada menos do que um conceito da humanidade para ser seguido ou pelo menos que suas palavras sejam seguidas, é por isso que não tem como existir heróis ruins, seu conceito por si só não permite.

Temos inúmeros exemplos disso, fictícios e/ou religiosos, Jesus é o herói dos cristãos, Hércules era um herói grego, e Superman é um herói dos quadrinhos. Então para sabermos o que é um herói basta ver o que há em comum nesses exemplos.

Dos três citados anteriormente, e ainda poderia citar muitos outros, vemos que todos são humanos e ao mesmo tempo divinos. Cristo era Deus e ao mesmo tempo seu filho, Hércules era filho de Zeus e a mortal Alcmena, e o Superman, apesar de não ser filho de um deus, ele veio do espaço, ou seja, dos céus, e isso o fez ser super-poderoso, mas ao mesmo tempo foi criado como um humilde humano. Além é claro do fato de todos serem bons para a humanidade a ponto de fazerem sacrifícios pela nossa salvação.

Inclusive grande parte dos heróis gregos era como Hércules, filhos de deuses com mortais, e assim eram chamados de semi-deuses.

As mídias atuais, como cinema, quadrinhos e etc, são recheados de protagonistas heróicos, como Goku, do desenho Dragon Ball, com uma história muito semelhante ao do Superman, e Neo, da trilogia Matrix, um aparente ser humano comum, mas que acabou se mostrando ser o Escolhido, e mais pra frente até mesmo um “filho” da Matrix.

Entenda que isso é um simbolismo, não importando se tal personagem existe ou não de fato, independente da crença de uma pessoa tal tipo de personagem representa o herói.

Isso, claro, foi uma visão bem rápida e inicial do conceito de um herói, leiam a obra “O Herói de Mil Faces” de Joseph Campbell, onde ele mostra a famosa “Jornada do Herói” mostrando as diversas características de um herói.

A humanidade de Satã cresce no decorrer da história. Os enumeros sacrifícios e batalhas contra si mesmo que travou, fizeram o antigo Senhor do Mal uma das personagens mais empenhadas em manter a paz na terra. Desde o momento em que teve a seu cargo o treino de Son Gohan, que Coraçãozinho fez nascer em si um afecto e dever de protecção ao filho de Goku. São muitas as vezes em que Son Gohan é salvo pelo Namek, roubando-lhe mesmo a vida.

Contar a história de Dragon Ball não é tarefa fácil. Mas aos poucos a vontade aparece. Começa aqui a história de Son Goku e do restante universo.

Bulma partiu em busca das bolas de cristal pela montanha e  deu de caras com uma criatura que parecia mais um macaco do que eu ser humano. Son Goku vivia, segundo ele há 14 anos nas montanhas e ficara sozinho após a morte do seu avôa adoptivo, Son Gohan (é de lembrar que Goku chegou à terra ainda bebé, mas já com a lição estudada para se apoderar do planeta, mas um acidente fê-lo perder a memória e as suas razões pelas quais estava ali). Son Goku faz parte da raça dos Super Guerreiros e possui uma força extraordinária, talvez por isso as balas que Bulma disparou quando o encontrou na montanha não tenham surtido efeito.

Bulma descobriu mais tarde que Son Goku possuia uma dassete bolas de cristal, sendo esta aúnica lembrança que este tinha do seu avô, recusando-se de imediato a entregar-lhe a bola. Após Bulma o ter finelmente convencido, partiram os dois em busca das bolas de cristal. E é a partir daqui que se inicia a maior história que os Mangas alguma vez mostraram.

Les jeux vidéos sur l’univers de Dragon Ball se suivent et se ressemblent, et la seule différence avec les bons vieux opus sur lesquels on se faisait des cloques pendant des heures sur Super Nintendo concerne les graphismes et le nombre de personnages jouables (dans le meilleur cas).

S’inspirant du succès du jeu “Naruto: Rise of a Ninja”, Bandai et Namco proposent avec “Dragon Ball – Revenge of King Piccolo“sur Wii de revenir aux origines de la série, là où tout a commencé. A l’époque où Son Goku ne maîtrisait pas la danse de l’air et utilisait le nuage supersonique, où il combattait l’Armée du Ruban Rouge en devenant pote avec Frankie, où il sauvait le père d’Upa en bas de la Tour Karin, où Bulma avait des seins bourgeonnants et pas de boules, où Pilaf était déjà ridicule face à un Piccolo Senior qui incarnait le Mal absolu, et où Yamcha était encore pas trop mauvais avec sa Technique du Loup.

En bref, à la période qui a fait qu’aujourd’hui encore, on aime les mangas et qu’on ne veut pas grandir parce que les 7 boules de cristal, ça n’existe pas dans la vraie vie.

These types of games are kinda rare these days but we tend to gravitate towards them whenever they make their way to market. Although the new Dragon Ball game scrolls from left to right, it also brims with 3D event scenes, special effects, and vibrant theatrics that may or may not add to the enjoyment of the platform gaming.

DB: Tenkaichi Daibouken follows the early travels of Son Goku as he ventures out into the world and faces off against the Red Ribbon Army, Piccolo, and Emperor Pilaf. Despite being a munchkin-sized warrior, Goku is nevertheless a one-man-army capable of beating back hordes of enemies with standard punches, kicks, and a few swings of his bo-staff. When the occasional calls, Goku can summon forth the Kamehameha to blow away formidable attackers who aren’t easily swatted away by his staff. When traversing the stages, Goku can jump and pounce forward to get through obstacles. The game allows players to control Goku with a combination of the Nunchuk and Wii Remote, the Classic Controller, or a Gamecube pad.

Pero en su intención de conseguir llegar a no sé que grado Hokage, el dibujo animado ha dejado preñada a la protagonista de Crepúsculo, ante la atónita mirada de Robert Pattinson y Taylor Lautner.

A todo esto Kristen Stewart sólo ha respondido: “¡Yo he venido a hablar de mi película! ¡O hablamos de mi película o me voy!”. Mientras que Naruto ha sido más explícito: “¡Joder, que sólo soy un dibujo animado! ¡Id a tocadle los cojones a Son Goku!”.

     So, want a show that feels a lot like Dragonball Z without actually being Dragonball Z?  Try s-CRY-ed.  There was a massive geologic event that separated a small part of Japan from the mainland.  This new island became a specially administrated zone, largely because a small number of people born there suddenly developed bizarre psychic powers.  They were able to break down and rebuild matter into something that they could control, called an alter.  These alter users were a major problem, and the Japanese government created its own alter task force, called HOLY, in order to deal with the native alters.  Into this situation comes Kazuma, an alter user who doesn’t care about anything except staying true to himself and protecting those he loves, a.k.a. his adopted younger sister Kanami.  When HOLY comes in with its best agent, Ryuhou, Kazuma and Ryuhou get locked into a rivalry that ultimately causes another geologic event and leads to the destabilization of the political and military situation in the Lost Ground, the island.  Kazuma possesses an alter that modifies his fist into a super powerfulpunching machine, and Ryuhou has an alter that acts independently from him and attacks with cutting techniques, though it ultimately evolves into an armor.

     Big explosions, ridiculous powers, unclear character motivations… Yup, it’s a shonen anime.  Unfortunately, it’s so stereotypically shonen that it’s only mediocre.  For one, the motivations of the main villain, Mujo Kyouji, is never really clear.  He’s hungry… or something.  And the specific reason as to why Kazuma is so goddamn stubborn is also never really clear.  He just is.  The rivalry between him and Ryuhou is also so Goku/Vegeta-esque that it’s basically just cookie-cutter.  Sure, it can be fun at times.  There are some lesser characters that are really interesting.  The most so is Straight Cougar, who is super fast and super funny.  He’s really the most interesting character in the show.  But aside from him, most of the characters aren’t that interesting.  Ryuhou’s love interest, Kiryuu Mimori, is just snoozy.  She’s basically one-dimensional.  But for the most part, it’s a fun, high-octane show.  If you need to kill some time, and you want something with a decent plot but not much thought involved, this is your show.

After a long period of time, I finally manage to finish this anime.  Woo~  Anyways, let’s talk about this anime.  I’ll be making this post a bit short because I still have school tomorrow so it means that I need to take a rest a bit early.

Saiyuki is the story of four anti-heroes: the monk Genjyo Sanzo (or just “Sanzo”), the monkey king Son Goku, the half-demon Sha Gojyo, and the man turned demon Cho Hakkai (formerly known as Cho Gonou). They have been dispatched by the Sanbutsushin (the Three Aspects of Buddha, who relay the orders of heaven) to travel to India to stop the possible resurrection of the Bull-Demon-King, Gyumaoh. Along the way they are beset by inept assassins, bad weather, and their own tragic personal pasts. Meanwhile, the villains, two unlikely confidants, Gyokumen Koushou (Gyumaoh’s concubine, a demon) and a mad scientist, Dr. Ni Jianyi (a human), continue their attempts to restore the long-dead king. These experiments, a forbidden mixture of science and magic, spawn the “Minus Wave”, infecting all of the demons in Shangri-La with madness, shattering the fragile peace that once existed between humans and demons. Again, one of my favorite animes is Saiyuki.  There’s a lot of OVA and episodes and I manage to find them all and watched it.  The anime is great.  It’s really funny.  But the things is, after finishing them all, there is still a lot of question left unanswered.  Like, did they really stop the people or demon who are attempting to revive Gyumaoh or why does Hakkai, Gojyo and Sanzo get reincarnated or why is Goku imprisoned?  The anime was really fun to watch but I really hoped that they finished the story.  Pity they didn’t.  Now, I’m going to be crazy on thinking what happen after.  I wish I have the Saiyuki mangas.  T_T

I’m off watching dramas again.  It seems that there are still more good dramas I haven’t watch plus new ones.

On the left – Goku from Dragonball.  ( Hope you guys recognized him xD ) It didn’t took much time ’cause I still have to study latin ( which I rly hate to )… But I still think it turned out ok. Besides the fact that his face is way too wide and much more mistakes like his eyesbrowns etc. I’m not really satisfied with that picture but I don’t think I could do it better now… still need to practice a lot :]

  Todos sabem que Son Goku, no principio de Dragon Ball Z era um guerreiro forte, mas piedoso. Depois de Freezer ter matado Krillin, Son Goku transfou-se em super guerreiro e desde esse momento não passou a ser piedoso para os seus inimigos.

  Mas não foi a partir dai que começou a ser impiedoso para os inimigos.

  Já devem saber que foi Son Goku que matou Satã (o pai) quando era mais novo, e não estava descontrlado como Son Gohan costumava estar.

  E passados três anos, Son Goku em vez de matar Satã no fim do torneio, deixou-o viver, pensando que ele um dia pudesse vir a ser uma grande ajuda, e foi.

Todos nós sabemos que Dragon Ball é uma das, ou se não a maior obra em questão de mangás e animes. Reconhecido mundialmente, introduzindo o povão aos animes, e marcando infâncias.

Então, o time italiano de volêi Modena decidiu chamar a atenção da mídia e de todo mundo (principalmente de otakus) quando eles mostraram publicamente o uniforme da dupla de líberos (aqueles carinhas que sempre se vestem diferente e não podem atacar… ) Pietro Rinaldi e Edward Pantufas.

A camiseta, que por sinal é linda, tem direito a um Goku Super Saiyajin estampado na frente e a um Shen Long nas costas! A camiseta custa € 40 (40 Euros, algo em torno de R$125 na cotação atual) .

Não é a primeira vez que o Modena estampa um personagem de anime em seus uniformes! Eles já colocaram Ruffy nas camisetas da dupla, explodindo em um fenômeno de vendas! Além disso, não são só personagens de animes que vão para as estampas! Já tivemos uma camiseta do Homem-Aranha e do Homem de Ferro!  Se essa moda pegar…
