Hi deary Leesa. This post was made just for you ^_^

I’ve done the comparison, you might want to download it here.

If I were you, Wi-Fi will not be my priority. Of course, having them will make our life a lot more easier but considering the bills, if I were you, I might want to reconsider. As for the 2nd camera, which idiot created it at the back right? I mean, yeah just like what you said, what the heck >_<

For the camera, G900 wins; I mean you’re not into photo blogging right? >_< Then for media player, there should be no big problem since Sony handphone is widely known for its best sound and vids (mind the W series since it is a Walkman so they do have their own player but for me, the normal player is good enough). For the entertainment part they were equally specified; not a problem then.

And I think I’ll make my stop now because if we look at all of them as a whole, G900 wins man (that is after considering the stupid-at-the-back-2nd-camera, of course, and you said you wanted the Wi-Fi thing right?) (trust me honey, I do read all the spec line by line) ^_^

If I’m going to choose for my very own phone, I’ll go for G900 >_<

*dunno did I leave a comment on your blog or not honey? My connection is <del datetime="2009-06-16T10:01:28+00:00"></del>*kinda* too slow

I have been saving for a new phone that is not too luxurious but good enough to use when taking pictures for blogging and for my mp3s and of course for calling friends in business. And just last month, I bought what I really wanted-another Sony Ericsson phone. This time I took home my C902. The last Sony Ericsson phone that I got was the T630 and this was the time I was still with CVG and that was way back in 2004. I am happy right now with this new phone-love the pics taken. The only issue is that I have to buy a memory card in order to store more mp3s. Without the memory card on the Sony Ericsson C902, I can only save around 25 to 30 songs on the phone memory. I asked a friend and learned that the memory card for this phone is a bit pricey compared to the memory for other phones. Other than this issue, my Sony Ericsson is one dependable phone for me. Thanks freelance writing. =p

Ok, a little disclaimer… I love mobile phones. I love to look at them and imagine owning them

Ok, a little disclaimer… I love mobile phones. I love to look at them and imagine owning them… but I know nothing about them. I am not a tech savvy person and I have never owned a nice mobile phone. So here are the phones I have had, the phone I do have, and the phones I wish I could have:

My first phone:

LG VX3300: I got this phone when I was 16 or 17 when my mother finally relented and allowed my brother and I to get mobile phones. It had 2 options for a faceplate (black and blue or gray!) and didn’t really do anything apart from phone and text (which I could not do as it was not a part of my contract)

Then I moved to the UK and bought myself a pay as you go phone:

Motorola SLVR L7: This phone would last me over 2 years and many, many drops and soakings. It was a tough phone that I banged around with little regard for it’s safety and for that it will always hold a soft spot in my heart. Toward the end of its life it was having trouble functioning; if it was set down on a hard surface it would turn off and then flash its ‘white screen of death’ for about a minute before switching back on, the alarm clock sometimes failed to go off, it would freeze and have to be turned off and on, and the screen got a small crack in one corner. Then one day I pulled it from my bag (after months of saying how I needed a new phone) and there was a giant orange blob obscuring the screen (like it had come into contact with something small and hard and had a ‘pressure point’ of damage to the screen. I liked this phone because it fit easily in my pocket (I rarely carry a bag when I go out) and the predictive text was the best I have encountered, but ultimately, it did little more than text and make calls; the games on it were crap and the camera was laughable.

During my two year period with the Motorola, I returned to the US for 3 months and purchased a pay as you go phone there:

Motorola C139 GoPhone: I bought this because the US does not sell sim cards separately (otherwise I could have used my UK phone with a US sim card) and I wanted the cheapest phone that I could find. This phone served its purpose for the summer that I had it; it sent texts and made calls and I believe had one of the most fun mobile phone games I have had that came with a phone, but it was never meant to be anything more than a temporary way to get in touch with my friends while I was at my mom’s.

After my SLVR died, I went out to purchase a new phone that would be unlocked so I could use my old sim card in it, I came home with this phone:

Sony Ericsson T303: It was cheap, it’s tiny, and I really like it. I know that it’s not a very high quality phone, but it’s so small and cute that I can forgive it for not being very powerful, not having good games and having a low quality camera. The camera is and the graphics are better quality than on my old SLVR, but I rarely use them anyway. It has taken me some time to get used to the predictive text that Sony Ericsson uses (after being spoiled by my Motorola I will never go back to tap texting), but I have learned to love it. In some respects the features on this phone feel more streamlined and easy to use than on my SLVR, but in others it is lacking. It took two friends to figure out how to increase the volume in call as it was horribly quiet whenever anyone would ring me. There is also no way to set the phone to vibrate without first putting it in silent mode and then turning on ‘vibrate in silent mode’ and I cannot find a way to view taken pictures without setting them as the phone’s display picture. For what I do with my phone (text, call, take the odd picture), it is more important to me that my phone is small and hardy than full of cool features and so far this phone seems to fit the bill.

The phones I would consider buying if I were to get a contract phone or had unlimited funds to spend on a pay as you go phone:

Samsung F480 Tocca: This is a fully touch screen phone that is reminiscent of the iPhone. It has a 5 megapixel camera, video player, music player, radio, email and internet among other features. I saw this phone in stores when I was out looking for my new phone and I was impressed by its size (smaller and thinner than other fully touch screen phones) and I am mostly impressed by its camera, which sounds like it would best my digital camera.

LG KS360: I came so close to buying this phone when I got my Sony Ericsson. It was about £40 more expensive, but I wonder now if it would have been a more fun option. This phone has texting, instant messaging and emailing capabilities that are made simple through its QWERTY slide out keyboard. It also has a 2 megapixel camera and a music and video ‘media player’. The screen self adjusts (so when you turn it to use the keyboard from the side, the screen turns sideways) which I find to be endlessly fascinating. The main reason I did not buy this phone was that I worried about its fatness if I wanted to keep it in my pocket, and I am still on the fence about how I feel about the sliding QWERTY keyboards that more and more phones have. If for some reason my Sony Ericsson did not work out and I needed to purchase another (rather) inexpensive phone in the near future I would probably give this one a try. I am also undecided on whether I like that the accents and sliding keyboard are bright blue or if I think this looks childish.

Sony Ericsson C902: I dreamed of buying this phone for many months. I have known two people who have different versions of the Sony Ericsson cybershot phones and I have always coveted them. I love the idea that a phone can double as a perfectly legitimate digital camera because I never remember to take my camera with me places and would love to have a good camera on my phone. This phone has a 5 megapixel camera and Sony Ericsson are known for their good camera phones. I think this is a beautiful phone, but I worry that I am expecting too much from its camera and would ultimately be disappointed in it. However, if I had £200 to spend on a new phone, this would probably be the first one I looked at.

LG Renoir: This is essentially my dream phone. A fully touch screen phone with an 8 megapixel camera, as well as loads of media perks. I will probably never own this phone because it is only available on contract, and because it is far too bulky to be easily kept in my pocket, however if I were to suddenly grow up and start carrying a bag / be capable of taking better care of my possessions, this phone would be a serious contender, for now it’s just something pretty to look at on the internet.

and finally:

Apple iPhone 3G: I really, really want to love Apple products. I have an Apple MacBook, that for the most part I love, but have had enough problems with to be annoyed by. I also have an iPod (not one of the new generation ones) that is about 3 or 4 years old and has had nothing but tech issues and may have finally died last week. That being said, Apple makes things that are easy to use and beautiful. C. has a new iPod touch (that is essentially an iPhone without the calling abilities) and it’s gorgeous, easy to use, and full of cool features (internet! on an iPod! mindblowing ha). For a while I did not see the appeal of an iPhone, but after seeing the new iPod touch, I understand. This phone could be everything to a person, it is an iPod, has a camera, has email and internet capabilities that practically render a computer useless and on top of that its got a beautiful face and slim design. If I end up staying in the UK for several more years and end up with a contract phone, this might be what I decide to go with, especially if my iPod has kicked the bucket. But then I wonder, with the problems I have had with Apple products in the past, is replacing them with more Apple products such a good idea? Well, no matter how many issues I have with my MacBook I will never go back to PCs so I guess Apple does know what it’s doing…

If you ever need a hole in your wallet ... get this

Leading the spot for the top 5 mobile phones of 2008 is none other than the Nokia N96.
“It’s design is amazing, being a graphic designer, that means a lot to me! GPS software could be better… the way it breathes is amazing ”

The Samsung Tocco, not to be mistaken for a Taco

Second, Samsung F480 Tocco
“The full touch screen is really easy to use and the screen is easy to read and large”

The Storm, who came up with the name?

Third, Blackberry Storm,
This device is a real rival to the dominance of the iPhone. The “clickable” touch screen is a new and exciting development, but arguably this feature will be the one that decides it success. The applications and browsing are very good, as one would expect from a Blackberry, but the Storm does not have Wi-Fi, which could seriously dent its credibility in the Smartphone market. It seems that RIM is targeting consumers and business users with this application packed, slick mobile.

Isn't this the one in the James Bond ad?

Fourth, Sony Ericsson C902
“Camera qualities are excellent and far better than some digital cameras about and saves carrying your phone and a carmera around with you, same for the music walkman its fabulous and saves carrying around an iPod.”

Another WinMo phone

Fifth, Samsung Omnia
“Great phone with excellent features. This phone is great for watching movies on the go or listening to your favourite MP3’s, GPS built in – get yourself satnav software and this is a great feature on a phone, plus it works a treat. People complain about the battery life, and yes this could be better. But when you consider this phone comes with such a large screen and the backlights then I can live with charging it daily as I would expect a screen of this size to use more juice than my small screened SE W810i.”

This was the first time in my life that I used a phone for over 16 months. I usually change my mobil

This was the first time in my life that I used a phone for over 16 months. I usually change my mobile every 9-12 months. But I used my N73ME for the longest duration. A few reasons why I did that… the main reason being that I was not able to find another phone that was better and of the similar price band as N73. I went to the mobile shop a couple of times, but came out disappointed! The last time I visited, the only prospective phone I found was N82. But I thought it was not worth an upgrade from N73!

Finally when I saw the specs of Sony Ericsson C902 (and C905), it finally hit me – YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE! – I uttered these words to C902. A few reasons why I was attracted towards C902:

Its 5MP Camera

It being a product of the CyberShot series

Its price being under 20K (INR)

Its looks – sleek and elegant

Its 2GB Memory card

So finally I bought it and I must say I am pretty happy with its performance. Although after owning N73, my expectations bar has been raised pretty high, C902 just manages to exceed the bar by a few centimeters, thanks to its 5MP camera and an unexpectedly beautiful Media Player.

The photos are captured in a stunning 2592×1944 pixel resolution. But one thing that disappointed me was its clarity. It would be unfair on any mobile to compare it with a proper digital camera, but one can’t avoid doing that when it’s a 5 mega-pixel cam! As compared to a digicam, its quality is not up to the mark, but by mobile camera standards, its pretty good. Although I have never owned a 3.2MP cybershot mobile myself, but I expected this 5MP camera to be a LOT better than N73… but I feel it’s nothing extra-ordinary. The increased mega-pixel gives C902 an upper hand over N73!

The media player was something that took me by surprise. As this one being a cybershot series phone, I did not have many expectations with the media player. I heard the FM and it was pretty normal. But soon after I started playing the first MP3, it was simply mind-blowing!

Another thing which I liked in C902 over N73, which is actually a very important thing, is its voice clarity during calls. The sound is very clear and the network strength doesn’t drop that often. With N73 at some points at my home, the call gets unclear. But C902 is giving me crystal clear reception at all points, wherever possible. Now I need to check it in my office lobby, where usually the signal strength was low and voice was unclear. I will update that soon.

On the whole, I am happy with C902. I would say so because I was frustrated by using the same phone for an insanely long time (as per my standards) and I badly needed a change. But if you are not that unhappy with your N73 (or for that reason, any N-series phone), then C902 may not be that wise a change!

After the G700, then G900, then, C702, then W760i, and then the last one from Sony Ericsson that we

After the G700, then G900, then, C702, then W760i, and then the last one from Sony Ericsson that we arranged the photo session for, is the new Cyber-shot C902. Since I have had too many photo sessions for unboxing lately, I am really confused with all the features and functions of phones now. But getting the new C902 on hand, the elegant design refreshes me. And the phone is really ultra thin, at only 10.5mm thick. As a 5 mega pixel auto focus with face detection camera phone, that is really impressive.

Standard stuff: a Battery, a Charger, a USB cable, a handsfree, CD and Manual.

M2 Card slot is located inside the phone. You have to take out the back cover to switch cards. Also worth to mention the back cover of the phone is framed with metal. The same material as what you have seen in the picture. May be the phone is too thin, a plastic back cover cannot provide enough protection for the phone.

Very standard phone layout. The LCD screen is not very large at all.

The back of the phone. Very clean design layout. 5 mega pixel phone… wait, where is the camera?

You have to slide open the phone to reveal the hidden camera. The blue light only light up for a few seconds when we slide open the camera door. The slide design is like the old 110 film cameras that we have to slide open the lens to take photos.

The keypad layout and navigation pad is clean and clear but a bit boring.

New Sony Ericsson Menu and icons.

First of all the camera phone is very thin. And the side trim design is nice… at least this is what I think.

Face detection in action. Same as the C702, the face detection is not as fast as the cameras but still working well. Also on the top and bottom of the LCD display frame, there are 8 camera shortcuts keys that you can touch directly to toggle them on and off. They are heat sensitive sensors with haptic feedback. This design is indeed very nice.

Actual photo shot by the phone in an indoor office lighting environment. Since the flash light can only trigger automatically by the phone itself, we cannot test a flash on photo for you.

Another shot. I may say the photo quality is still not matching the Nokia phones like the N82 or even the 3.2 MP N78. Am I the only one?

The look of the phone is very nice. It is thin and reasonably small in size. The UI is very user friendly and photo taking with this auto focus, face detection phone is very easy. Just the picture quality, in my opinion, of Sony Ericsson phones are not very satisfying comparing to Nokia’s making me think what does it mean to put a Cyber-shot brand on the phone.
