Albumul de debut al cantaretei Susan Boyle, senzatia de anul acesta de la concursul Britain’s Got Talent, al carei destin semana cu al tenorului Costel Busuioc(castigator al concursului spaniol “Hijos de Babel”, de la canalul TVE),a reusit sa inregistreze cel mai mare numar de comenzi la nivel global pe Amazon, inainte de lansarea sa oficiala, potrivit Reuters.com.

Albumul “I dreamed a dream” va fi lansat pe 24 noiembrie de Sony Music si este debutul lui Boyle, in varsta de 48 de ani, care a luat cu asalt Internetul si a uimit o lume intreaga cu intrepretarea sa de la celebrul concurs “Britain’s Got Talent” in aprilie.

Boyle este dintr-un orasel din Scotia, nu are un loc de munca si este voluntar la biserica.

“Albumul lui Susan in mod clar captureaza inimile clientilor nostri de pe intreg globul,” a spus Craig Pape, senior manager la Amazon.com.

Compania nu a dorit sa dea cifrele ale pre-comenzilor, dar a spus ca albumul a depasit recordul care era detinut in 2008 de japonezii Mr. Children cu albumul “Supermarket Fantasy”, pe Norah Jones cu “Not Too Late” si Take That “Never Forget: The Ultimate Collection”.

Boyle a pierdut finala concursului in fata unei trupe de dans, apoi a fost internata la o clinica din cauza epuizarii.

Cu toate acestea a semnat un contract pentru album prin Simon Cowell, membru al juriului atat la Britain’s Got Talen si American Idol si a interpretat piesa “Wild Horses” de la Rolling Stones in septembrie la America’s Got Talent.

Video Phone é o 8° single do álbum I Am…..Xuxa Fierce, de Bundoncé. A canção traz de volta um pouco da sensação de Diva; uma canção meio esquisita, que te dá a impressão de estar no meio de muito ácido…se é que vocês me entendem. A letra não traz nada de novo – aquela velha história do jogo de sedução numa “buatshy” – mas o destino da faixa era a balada mesmo, então tudo bem. Ok, chega de encher linguiça – vamos falar do que eu realmente queria – o clipe.

O clipe dessa música é uma das coisas mais toscas que eu já vi na minha vida; e olha que eu já fui viciada em rap, música japonesa, música country e Mariah Carey. Pra começar, o clipe é muito pobre : daria uma voadora em cada um que concordou com a ideia de usar arminhas d’água num clipe de uma suposta “Diva”. O vídeo como um todo não inova em nada e não diverte. Ambientação batida (fundo branco) e tema mais ainda. E o que falar desses homens-taradões-câmeras-robôs? Parece um infeliz retorno de Beyoncé aos tempos de Dangerously In Love. Agora – se fosse só ela, tudo bem, mas não – minha amada Lady GaGa fez questão de se juntar à festa do caqui.

O 11° mandamento deveria ser promulgado por ocasião dessa catástrofe : não farás um videoclipe sensual junto de Beyoncé. Nunca, jamais. Ninguém nem vai te ver. Meus queridos : GaGa parece uma aidética ao lado de Bey. A única protuberância em seu corpo é seu nariz – e isso não é legal. Parece uma daquelas propagandas da Polishop, com o antes e o depois. Knowles é o depois, claro : depois de muito Sol, macarrão e Brooklyn. GaGa tem sua sensualidade, e ela faz questão de mostrar isso com bastante frequência; mas com seu próprio estilo. Uma vez que Stefani Germanotta digivolveu para Lady GaGa, não há como voltar atrás. Nenhuma roupa “normal” trará o mesmo fascínio que seus “gaguismos”.

Por fim, há ainda quem diga que o penteado com franja que Bey usa em uma parte do clipe é uma homenagem à Bettie Page, modelo de pin-ups dos anos 50. Consultamos Bettie e esta foi a sua declaração :

Bom, agora nos resta avaliar o contra-ataque de GaGa : a canção Telephone.

Quand les arbres commencent à perdre leur feuillage et que les nuits se font plus fraiches, la Nu Soul, elle, fait sa rentrée. A chaque saison sa chanson – pourrait-on dire. Cette période de changement d’heure et de premières gelées matinales est aussi l’occasion d’allumer les premières buches et d’écouter des musiques doucereuses devant sa cheminée. Blottis dans notre robe de chambre ou confortablement installés dans notre canapé, rien ne vaut un bon disque de Maxwell pour se réchauffer. Par chance, le crooner nous revient après huit années d’absence avec un nouvel opus encore tout chaud, sobrement intitulé BLACKsummers’night.

 A peine est-elle sortie de son emballage plastique que l’œuvre conquiert déjà le cœur de ces dames. En huit ans, Maxwell a pris du galon. Exit la touffe afro, le torse nu et la chainette dorée façon Now. Le ‘nouveau Maxwell’ a opté pour le smoking, la coupe courte et la pochette en noir et blanc. Sobriété affichée, stabilité assumée. Sous cette apparente froideur se cache en réalité une musique aussi chaude et corsée qu’un bon expresso (le jeu de mot était inévitable). Comme le café, le disque est court mais intense. En matière de Nu Soul, on privilégie toujours la qualité à la quantité, faut-il le rappeler ? Maxwell le sait et le prouve au long de ces neuf morceaux, tous plus riches les uns que les autres.

 Cet été, le premier extrait, « Pretty Wings », avait donné le ton du disque. Un down-tempo groovy porté par la voix de tête du chanteur et des chœurs en arrière plan, telle est la trame du morceau… et de l’album ! En effet, on pourra reprocher à Maxwell (et à la Nu Soul en général) son manque de prise de risque mais force est de constater que ca paye (pratiquement) à chaque fois.
Le deuxième single, « Bad Habits », suit lui aussi cette trajectoire, qui, ironiquement, n’est pas coutumière au style Maxwell. En effet, BLACKsummers’night est par exemple très éloigné d’un Urban Hang Suite dans la mesure où l’on ne retrouve pas le funk de ce premier volume. Au demeurant, cette livraison sent clairement la maturité. A 36 ans et des poussières, Maxwell vieillit et s’assagit. Comme un grand cru, sa robe (sa musique en l’occurrence) évolue avec les années. A ce titre, ce quatrième opus n’aurait pas pu porter un meilleur nom. On constate que durant ce long silence, le soulmen a ‘blackisé’ sa musique, la rendant plus adulte et moins ‘dorée’ qu’à l’accoutumé.

 Une chanson comme « Help Somebody » – magnifique au passage – montre à quel point le crooner a mûri, y compris dans ces choix d’instrumentaux. Plus de cuivres, autant de folie mais davantage de maîtrise, ce titre fait la part belle à un Nu Jazz rythmé et électrisé, comme le prouve l’époustouflant « Phoenix Rise », final musical orné de synthés transpirant la modernité. Peut être un avant goût de sa future direction artistique…

 Ceci dit, la majeure partie de l’album repose sur ces langoureuses ballades romantiques, si chères au chanteur (« Bad Habits », « Fistful Of Tears », « Playing Possum »). L’amour, les femmes, tels sont les maîtres mots de ce BLACKsummers’night. Maxwell est un gentleman avec un grand G, un homme qui sait parler aux dames et les comprendre. D’ailleurs, vous remarquerez qu’il est rare de ne pas voir apparaître une créature féminine dans ses clips. 
Le défaut de ce genre de pièces est que, bien souvent, malgré la subtilité et la profondeur qui en émanent, les longueurs sont inévitables. Or, là, la quantité est quasiment parfaite. Hormis « Stop The World » qui manque un peu de panache, tout le reste s’apprécie sans que l’on ne parvienne jamais à un ‘trop plein’ de bons sentiments. BLACKsummers’night s’articule bien, s’écoute facilement et se digère sans encombres. Remarquez, c’est préférable avec les deux autres volets qui se préparent pour 2010 et 2011. Oui oui, vous avez bien lu ! La surprise valait l’attente : une trilogie Black – Summers’ – Night, étalée sur trois années si tout se passe comme prévu. Alors en attendant le tome 2, jetez vous sur cet album si vous ne faites toujours pas partie des 900 000 personnes qui en ont déjà faites l’acquisition.

 Maxwell est de retour, et pour de bon ! Aussi sensuel et raffiné qu’il y a huit ans, la maturité et le costard en plus. Avec les siens et les opus de D’Angelo et de Bilal programmés pour bientôt, la Nu Soul se réserve un bel avenir. Côté féminin, on attend également la suite des aventures de la reine Erykah Badu qui devraient arriver incessamment sous peu. 

Pour les plus patients, ce BLACKsummers’night pourrait faire aussi un très beau cadeau de Noël. Alors Messieurs les célibataires, vous savez ce qu’il vous reste à faire pour trouver votre âme sœur.

The All-American Rejects headed down to Malaysia on October 31st and launched officially DigiMusic, Malaysia’s first unlimited music download service offering by the telco DigiCom.

Held at Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Jalil National Outdoor Stadium, the launch concert was preceded by an autograph session and a press conference, where they endorsed DigiMusic on behalf of Universal Music.

Launched unofficially in August this year, DigiMusic promises its subscribers unlimited downloads of its music catalogue offering with no data charges. The offering was backed by two of the world’s largest labels, Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group. DigiMusic subscribers will get a host of goodies which include something the telco calls “DigiMusic Live Concerts”, where subscribers will get first consideration when it comes to tickets.

Let’s keep it real:  there will never be a soul vocalist finer than Luther Vandross. In the four years since his untimely passing, Luther continues to be sorely missed, and his amazing contribution to the soul music canon deeply felt.

There has been many compilations put out by the U.S. over the years – but none ever included the real gems that the UK soul fraternity love.

Never Too Much – The Soul of Luther Vandross  has been compiled specifically with the UK market in mind. There are a couple of omissions (for legal issues), but this is his finest work on the Epic label.

A year after launching Google music search for the China market, Google has now embarked on Google music search for the entire world. Launched on 28 Oct’09 in the U.S., Google’s music search integrates audio tracks into your searches, allowing you to listen to full audio tracks (if available) upon receiving your search results. Not available yet in Asia, this search promises to make Google’s giant search engine even more gargantuous and comprehensive.

In line with Google’s world domination quest, the music search is ambitious, and is part of a series of Google initiatives – to provide thorough search results like never seen before – that would be rolled out within the next year. After the music search engine, the world can prepare itself for an infinite number of e-books available online (having been digitized for Google’s e-book project) as well as a state-of-the-art social interaction portal called Google Wave.

But I digress.

I initially thought that Google’s global music search would be somewhat similar in interface to the one they launched in China just last year, but it’s decidedly different. While Google’s global music search integrates your live searches into its search engine interface, Google Music China is a separate search by itself, focusing only on music- and artist-related results. Regardless, both are certainly a bold step in the future of free audio streaming for all, receiving praises from music fans all over the world.

And there’s more. “The real “wow” in this new music feature,” states Google’s blog with much pride, “is that you can type in phrases of lyrics, we recognize the song – and bring you the song for full play.” Bring it into Asia soon, we can’t wait!

How are the labels dealing with the digital music revolution?

Apparently, very well. All 4 major labels have come onboard for Google’s global music search, and are listed alongside online music partners iMeem, LaLa, MySpace, Pandora and Rhapsody. It’s heartening to see Universal Music and Sony Music embracing both VEVO and Google’s music search, which could potentially become rivals in music offering. Bring it on, I say. The more (digital) competition the better!

Google a anunţat oficial lansarea noului serviciu muzical OneBox, care le permite utilizatorilor să găsească şi să cumpere muzică online.

OneBox reprezintă un parteneriat între site-urile de muzică Lala şi iLike (deţinut de MySpace).

Casele de discuri care s-au afiliat programului sunt: EMI, Sony Music, Universal Music Group şi Warner Records.

Momentan acest serviciu este disponibil doar în Statele Unite, dar compania a anunţat că va încerca să găsească parteneri şi în alte ţări pentru extinderea noului serviciu la nivel internaţional.

Cu ajutorul OneBox, doritorii vor putea găsi ceea ce îi interesează în materie de muzică, tastând numele unei melodii, al unui artist sau versuri dintr-o piesă.

În momentul în care un utilizator foloseşte OneBox pentru găsirea unei melodii, un pop-up widget al serviciilor Lala sau iLike va pune la dispoziţie un player prin care acesta poate asculta întreaga piesă.

De asemenea, o fereastră MySpace permite cumpărarea de MP3-uri, scoate în faţă videoclipul aferent piesei căutate şi oferă informaţii adiacente, cum ar fi zilele în care artistul/trupa căutat/a va avea concerte.

Potrivit Google, cuvinte ca `muzică` şi `versuri` figurează în top 10 al căutărilor din toată istoria motorului de căutare.

Die junge dänische Band Dúné rockte vor kurzem das Zapata in Stuttgart.

Irgendwas stimmt da nicht. Irgendwie mag Stuttgart mich als Konzertgänger nicht. Meine Erlebnisse bezüglich seltsam kommunizierter Einlass- und Anfangszeiten sind mittlerweile ja schon legendär. Als ich mich aber neulich aufmachte, die dänische Band Dúné zu sehen, erreichte es ganz neue Dimensionen…

Hat mich zwar schon gewundert, dass eine ausländische Band mit Major-(Vertriebs-)Deal und Promo-Kampagne auf Pro7 in einem Mini-Club wie dem Zwölfzehn spielt, aber was weiß man da? Bisher sind Dúné hierzulande ja eher unbekannt. Also lief ich pünktlich (!) zum Einlass vor dem Zwölfzehn auf. Doch was bot sich mir da? Gähnende Leere. Kein Publikum. Und vor allem: Keine Band. Dafür neben dem Eingang ein Plakat, überklebt mit: »Verlegt ins Zapata«. Ja toll. Und das auch noch, wo ich zum ersten mal einen Parkplatz direkt vor dem Zwölfzehn ergattert hab – och menno! Offenbar sind Dúné hierzulande mittlerweile doch schon etwas bekannter geworden…

Bis ich dann natürlich im Zapata war, hatte die Vorband, Timid Tiger aus Köln, – wie sollte es auch anders sein – mal wieder fertig. Nun denn, ich hab immerhin noch eine ihrer Electric Island-EPs ergattert, die die Zeit bis zu ihrem 2010 bei Sony Music/Columbia Berlin(/Four Music/BPX1992) erscheinenden Album überbrücken soll. Bin gespannt, »Miss Murray« jedenfalls ist ein Song, der einem schon im Ohr kleben bleibt.

Das Zapata war jetzt, äh, auch nicht gerade zum Platzen gefüllt, aber stimmt, das Zwölfzehn wäre für die anwesende Menge doch etwas zu winzig gewesen. Das doch recht junge Durchschnittsalter des Publikums hat mich ein wenig überrascht. Ok, Dúné sind selbst alle so erst um die 20, aber die Musik müsste eigentlich auch Endzwanziger und Anfangdreissiger oder gar noch ältere Semester ansprechen, die die 80er noch irgendwie erlebt haben oder zumindest zur Bildung ihres Musikgeschmacks zu Rate gezogen haben. Und damit meine ich nicht Unfälle wie Den Harrow oder anderes übles Zeug, sondern »die Guten«, die vornehmlich aus dem Vereinten Königreich stammen. Und sich beispielsweise auch im Look von Gitarrist Danny Jungslund manifestieren.

Außerdem fragt man sich, wo Dúné nebst ihrem ganzen Equipment im Zwölfzehn überhaupt hätten Platz finden sollen. Allein mit den beiden Marshall/Ampeg-Wänden wäre die Bühne voll ausgelastet gewesen. Und bemerkenswert ist eine Band mit sieben (!) festen Mitgliedern allemal. Wo gibt’s heute so was noch im Rockbereich, in diesen üblen und mageren Zeiten des Musikbusiness? Dafür bekommt man aber auch Einiges an Sound geboten. Und Dúné überzeugen ohne Frage mit ihrer Indie/Wave-mässigen Electro-Rock-Melange.

Dúné – Enter Metropolis (2009)

Dúné, ganz klassisch 2001 als Schülerband gegründet und bei dem dänischen Indie-Label Iceberg Records beheimatet, haben im August ihr zweites Album Enter Metropolis veröffentlicht und sind derzeit also auf Tour. Letztes Jahr waren sie u.a. auch als Vorband der besten Band der Welt unterwegs und supporteten diese bei ihrem Jazzfäst – na, das sollte doch als Qualitätssiegel genügen.

Sänger Mattias Kolstrup erinnerte mich ein wenig an Mika, nicht nur optisch, auch von der Art her. Da steht schon derjenige am Frontmikro, der die Aufmerksamkeit der Massen auf sich ziehen kann. Als einzige Frau der Band schafft das Keyboarderin/Background-Sängerin Cecilie Dyrberg bei Teilen des Publikums naturgemäß problemlos auch, allerdings fehlt ihr doch das Charisma von Kolstrup. Dafür trumpft sie auf, wenn sie sich die Gitarre umhängt und zeigt, dass sie sich an der nicht nur festhält, sondern die auch noch sogar richtig bedienen kann. Respekt! Co-Keyboarder/Background-Sänger Ole Bjørn Sørensen hing sich dagegen ab und zu einen AX-Controller um. Und obwohl ich Umhängekeyboards eigentlich ja schon etwas lächerlich finde, gestehe ich hier und jetzt: ich dachte auch selbst schon daran, mir eine(n) AX(t) anzuschaffen, denn es hat ja schon was. Vor allem, wenn man eben 80er-beeinflusste Musik macht. Da ist dann auch der MS-20 als gelegentlicher Basslieferant Pflicht und nur recht und billig. Ok, »billig« stimmt in dem Zusammenhang nur bedingt, aber für einen MS-20 darf Bassist Piotrek Wasilewski dann gerne auch mal seinen Ric abschnallen. Simon Troelsgaard und Danny Jungslund sorgen mit ihrer Gitarrenarbeit für ein im wahrsten Sinne gerüttelt Maß an Rock und Malte Aarup-Sørensen an den Drums für die Einhaltung der erforderlichen Schlagzahl. Kein Zweifel: Dúné können was. Von Schülerband ist da nichts mehr zu spüren. Die schnarchen nicht wie ein dänisches Bettenlager, sondern spielen wie ein schweizer Uhrwerk.

Einer der Höhepunkte des Abends war wohl »Heat«, bestens bekannt aus besagter Pro7-Kampagne und allein für sich genommen schon ein ziemlicher Ohrwurm. Doch auch den ein oder anderen übrigen Titel dürfte man mittlerweile in diversen Medienkanälen gehört haben. Mich persönlich hat der Gig allerdings nicht so »geflasht« wie erhofft – aber das kann gut auch allein an meiner persönlichen Verfassung gelegen haben, die an besagtem Wochenende nicht die allerbeste war. Denn wenn mich die Sachen, die ich vorab schon gehört hatte, nicht so überzeugt hätten, wäre ich da erst gar nicht aufgelaufen. Dúné rocken schon amtlich. Und der wirklich überwiegende Teil des Publikums ging auch gut ab.

Wer sich selbst von Dúné als Live-Band überzeugen und nicht zum letzten Deutschland-Gig nach Berlin oder gar nach Dänemark fahren möchte, der kann sich den Gig aus dem Luxor in Köln kostenlos online ansehen bzw. als Download erwerben (Link s.u.).

La banda de Stereopony, intengrado por las chicas Aimi, Nohana y Shiho, se disponen a sacar su nuevo ysingle titulado Tsukiakari no Michishirube. Saldrá a la venta el 4 de Noviembre y lo hará en tres ediciones diferentes, una normal con CD, otra limitada con CD y DVD, y una tercera edición limitada con la portada del anime DARKER THAN BLACK -Ryuusei no Gemini-, incluyendo un bonus track que será usada como opening de esta serie.

Sony and Kasabian have cleverly launched a new viral promoting the release of the new single ‘Underdog’. The viral uses a group of skillful footballers to bang out the tune using a a customised keypad and a blown up version of Guitar Hero.

The Viral looks great and the idea is great, however I feel they may have missed the boat of promoting this track, if we look back a couple of months ago this track was being broadcasted into the nations living rooms during primetime slots in the latest Sony Bravia Ads developed by Fallon London.  Now the track has lost its freshness that is associated with most singles.
