Eine wahrlich schwierige Aufgabe hatte in dieser Woche der Sony Pictures Animation Film “Planet 51″, welcher zur gleichen Zeit mit dem heiß erwarteten zweiten Teil der Twilight Saga “New Moon: Bis(s) zur Mittagsstunde” in den USA gestartet ist. Natürlich hat “Planet 51″ hier klar den Kürzeren gezogen und konnte sich mit 12,6 Millionen Dollar auf Platz 4 der Charts platzieren.

“New Moon: Bis(s) zur Mittagsstunde” hat einen sensationellen Start von 140,7 Millionen Dollar hingelegt und konnte sich damit mit großem Vorsprung auf den ersten Platz katapultieren. Der 3D Animationsfilm “Disney’s Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte” konnte sich diese Woche nur noch auf Platz 5 mit 12,23 Millionen Dollar platzieren. Damit kommt der Weihnachtsfilm von Robert Zemeckis aktuell auf 79,79 Millionen Dollar nach 3 Wochen, was so langsam auf einen Kassenflop hindeutet, da der Film ein üppiges Produktionsbudget von 200 Millionen Dollar hatte. Bleibt für Disney nur zu hoffen, dass der Film aufgrund der weihnachtlichen Thematik einen langen Atem hat.

2012 is a 2009 science fiction disaster film based loosely on the 2012 phenomenon and directed by Roland Emmerich. The film stars John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Oliver Platt, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, and Woody Harrelson. The film was distributed by Columbia Pictures. Filming began in August 2008 in Vancouver.

The film briefly references Mayanism, the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, and the 2012 phenomenon in its portrayal of cataclysmic events unfolding in the year 2012. Due to solar flare bombardment the Earth’s core begins heating up at an unprecedented rate. This results in a series of Doomsday event scenarios plunging the world into chaos, such as California falling into the Pacific Ocean, the eruption of the Yellowstone National Park caldera, shifting of the continents by crustal displacement, Megatsunami impacts along every coast line on the Earth, and the flooding of the entire planet. The film centers around an ensemble cast of characters as they narrowly escape multiple catastrophes in an effort to reach ships in the Tibetan Himalayan Mountains, along with scientists and governments of the world who are attempting to save as many lives as they can before the disasters ensue.

Reviews of the film have been mixed, with several critics pointing out the improbability of some of the Apocalyptic scenarios depicted in the film. The film also utilized a viral marketing campaign that has fallen under much criticism with the fictional organization Institute for Human Continuity, a fictitious book written by Jackson Curtis entitled Farewell Atlantis, and streaming media, blog updates and radio broadcasts from the apocalyptic zealot Charlie Frost at his website entitled This Is The End.

La película ”2012” sobre inundaciones apocalípticas que amenazan a la humanidad se convirtió en la favorita de taquilla en su estreno el fin de semana, con ingresos de 65 millones de dólares en América del Norte y posiblemente de 225 millones en todo el mundo.

El filme de acción de los estudios de cine Sony Pictures relata la historia sobre los esfuerzos de salvar a la humanidad a bordo de arcas gigantescas después que el cambio de posición de la capa terráquea provoca inundaciones sobre todo el planeta.

En las salas de cine de América del Norte, el estreno favorito de esta semana estuvo a punto de alcanzar recaudar los 68,7 millones de dólares que obtuvo El día después de mañana cuando fue estrenada, pero según Sony informó que fue la mejor ganancia mundial para una película de guión original.

Filmul “This Is It”, produs de Sony Pictures si Columbia Pictures, a fost realizat din filmari din timpul pregatirilor pentru noul turneu international ce fusese lansat, dar nu a mai apucat sa fie dus la indeplinire datorita mortii subite a megastarului.

Filmul lui Michael Jackson a fost lansat in cinematografele din toata lumea la data de 28 octombrie si s-a hotarat sa fie difuzat pe o perioada de doua saptamani. Succesul izbitor de care s-a bucurat filmul il va tine in cinematografe pana la inceputul lunii decembrie.

“Mais do mesmo – apenas maior”

Os diretores mais conhecidos de hollywood são aqueles que escolheram um gênero pela qual querem ser lembrados, Assim como Steven Spielberg na ficção científica, como Scorsese em seus thrillers dramaticos, Michael bay nos blockbusters e Woody Allen em seus dramas românticos – Roland Emmerich se consagra por conta de seus filmes catástrofes. Visto que o diretor destrói o mundo como ninguém desde ‘Independence Day’, ‘Godzilla’, ‘Impacto Profundo’, ‘O dia depois de amanhã’ e seu mais recente e ambicioso trabalho ‘2012′.

Porém, nota-se que Roland talvez não tenha sido a escolha perfeita para comandar algo deste porte, uma vez que, é necessário uma ótima combinação não apenas dos efeitos, como também do roteiro para falar do fim do mundo – o que não é o caso do diretor, já que ele parece se focar mais na destruição do que na reação humana em geral (o que praticamente seria o mais importante). As reações que vemos na tela, seja vinda de personagens principais ou coadjuvantes, soam falsas demais para serem levadas a sério, para completar – Emmerich forra tudo com longas e mentirosas sequências de fuga acompanhadas por uma trilha de filme aventureiro.

Não não…Não estou sendo chato, se você raciocinar bem, um filme onde morre milhões de pessoas e ainda ganha uma censura tão baixa só pode significar uma coisa. Blockbuster. Prova esta que, não só vemos na grandiosa sequência de fuga em Los Angeles (galeria de vídeo) ou nos meteoros que destroem por completo o furgão, como também em seu final, onde uma menininha que, naquela altura em que deveria estar traumatizada com tudo o que viu e passou, solta uma pérola dizendo – Pai, eu não uso mais fraldas… Como se fosse comum ver milhões de pessoas sendo engolidas pela terra, fogo, esmagadas ou caindo de alturas exorbitantes.

Para piorar, Emmerich protege seus personagens principais de uma forma absurda, não só são sempre os presentes testemunhos de todos os ataques possíveis da natureza e do acaso, como também são sempre os únicos a sobreviver – da forma mais heróica e com direito a trilha heróica também.

Mas se tratando de estética, Emmerich se mostra um cara perfeccionista, os esforçados efeitos especiais tornam o filme grandioso, e de alguma forma, o salvam do que deveria ser um desastre total. A única coisa alias que o diretor parece ter evoluido em relação aos seus filmes anteriores.

No fim, 2012 pode ate valer o ingresso, para aqueles que se contentarem em ver apenas destruição. A sensação que ficou em mim, e que deixei de temer o que ‘reza a lenda’ vir acontecer em 2012, simplesmente por achar o filme pouco sério e realista.

PS1 : Roland é medroso… ou em palavras mais gentis, um cara positivo… Eu sabia que ele não teria coragem…

PS2 : O filme tem umas cenas bem humoradas – a maioria envolvendo o personagem de Woody Harrelson e o russo Yuri.

PS3 : Apesar de ter achado bem mentiroso, adorei a sequência de Los Angeles (Confira na galeria de vídeos).

PS4 : E o oscar de melhores efeitos visuais vai para… 2012!

Many doomsayers hang onto the idea that this ancient calendar is a ticking time bomb signalling our fast-approaching demise during the 2012 winter solstice.

But here’s what NASA scientist David Morrison at the Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif., told Discovery News.

Oct. 22, 2009 – contrary to what you may read on the Internet, the world is not going to end in 2012. A rogue planet named Nibiru is not on a collision course with Earth. And a solar flare won’t toast the planet.

It’s all fiction, though the makers of the film “2012″ may lead you to think otherwise.

Morrison has launched a counter-attack through his “Ask An Astrobiologist” online column, which he says has gotten more than 1,000 questions about the end of the world.

Scientific misinformation about 2012 has been ramping up for a few years, with more than 200 books and 1,000 Web sites purporting to explain various doomsday scenarios.

Sony Pictures is behind a particularly viral campaign to build publicity for its upcoming apocalyptic movie “2012,” which debuts on Nov. 13.

The company has set up an interlinked family of Web sites and Facebook pages to infuse a sense of reality to its fictional work.

The point is Sony Pictures have marketed the movie in an amazing way; it created the hype about the story which was fictional and made it look real. The promotion of the film now looks like; it’s a true story which is surely going to happen in 2012.

The end which might happen, which might not happen, the myth has been made factual and pushed in the minds of the people just to promote a film. Amazing way to market anything, it’s completely innovative thinking, in the world of Global Warming where people are scared of not taking any step to protect the environment, scare them and scare them to the core. After that, hype the release of the movie and say WE WERE WARNED.

There might be something happening in 2012 as per medieval calendar, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen for sure.

The story got authenticated coz of different media channels promoted it; news channels are the only credible medium where people have some trust to it, they believe them and what they show but now a days they run after innovative stories which gives them high TRP. It’s not far that media channels will not be left with any credibility amongst people.

After effect of the news is, people everywhere around the globe are scared that 2012 the world is going to end. 2012 the year is top of the mind in the consumers head but come on guys you can’t spread panic around just to promote a film.

The problem is people are going to watch the movie any which ways, it’s the best entertainment for the people around the globe there’s no doubt about it, but the fact remains I am writing the story coz they have scared people around me, they have scared the world. The bad word has already started spreading.

Mr. Morrison assured that nothing is going to happen in 2012, we don’t know how true that is but if seriously nothing happens in 2012 then who would be in trouble? Can you guess???? Sony Pictures, I doubt, the trouble will be faced by media channels ofcourse not directly but indirectly and the credibility of media houses any which ways going down, they are pushing it more down.

Be Aware: The End is near but not of our Planet…

Für die Oscar Verleihung 2010 steht schon eines bereits jetzt fest: die Kategorie des Animationsfilm wird im sechsten Jahr seit Bestehen eine bedeutende Rolle spielen. So ist vor allem der neue Pixar Film “Oben” ein ganz heißer Kandidat für eine Doppelnominierung, da der Film aktuell für die Kategorien “Bester Film” und “Bester Animationsfilm” gehandelt wird. Würde das eintreffen, wäre das erst die zweite Nominierung eines Animationsfilm für die Königsdisziplin neben “Die Schöne und das Biest” im Jahr 1991.

Aber auch die Kategorie des Animationsfilmes wird 2010 wahrscheinlich eine weitaus größere Rolle spielen als in den Jahren zuvor, da es wohl erstmals 16 oder mehr zulässige Bewerbungen für die Kategorie geben wird, womit dann fünf Filme in der Kategorie “Bester Animationsfilm” nominiert wären. Als heiße Kandidaten für die Kategorie werden aktuell “Oben”, “Monsters vs. Aliens”, “Coraline”, “9″, “Disney’s Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte”, “Wolkig mit Aussicht auf Fleischbällchen”, aber auch “Küss den Frosch” oder “Ponyo” gehandelt. Damit hat man ein sehr großes Spektrum an unterschiedlichen Animationsfilmen, die von klassischer, handgezeichneter Animation, über moderne 3D Animation und speziell für 3D Kinos konzipierte Filme reicht.

Sorry ladies, it’s not hunk Ryan Gosling. This caught us off guard, considering Sam Raimi told us we would only see one villain in Spider-Man 4. Mania reports the franchise director has began the casting process for the Spidey sequel and has his lead star for the role of Black Cat; Rachael McAdams. How will her storyline play out? Will she be involved in yet another unexciting love triangle between Peter Parker and M.J.? These are all speculations for now, but we think she’s the perfect choice for the sexy cat burglar.

Sony has been under a lot of scrutiny lately about some of the work they’ve done to promote their new disaster/end-of-the-world epic “2012.” The movie assumes that the Mayans were correct in their prediction that the world will end in some catastrophic event on December 21, 2012.  Some of the eyebrow-raising promotions are actually pretty inventive – too inventive for some. 

Sony’s Excellent Promotions

It goes without saying; a Web site alone isn’t enough anymore.  Every movie trailer ends with a URL below the title. 

“2012” used the unique, already-popular topic of the film to evolve that concept.  In that spot at the end of the trailer where you would normally see a URL, you now see “Google search: 2012.” 

When I first read this I thought Sony was just going to use real news and skeptics’ Web sites to promote the movie – a cheap, effective idea.  Why not get perspective from people who really believe these things?

Then I searched 2012, and among top ranked sites were the movie’s Web site and a couple of other interesting sites. 

• Institute for Human Continuity
• Farewell Atlantis
• This is the End

They’ve taken that “research it for yourself” idea to the next level by creating mock Web sites based on the plot of the movie.  They really could have fooled me if it weren’t for pictures of John Cusack and videos of a poorly disguised Woody Harrelson. Oh wait – and the banner at the top that said “Part of the ‘2012’ movie experience.” 

That’s the point though; they weren’t trying to fool us, but people still got upset.

There were reports of people losing sleep and teenagers contemplating suicide because Sony’s Web site is far too realistic.  Now NASA scientists at the Astrobiology Institute are in an uproar because people are so gullible.  In case you haven’t figured it out, they have confirmed that these events will NOT come to fruition. 

How should Sony react to the uproar?  Is it Sony’s responsibility to ease the hearts and minds of these believers?

Our Need for Truth

Haven’t we been hearing about the Mayan calendar for years? Long before production of the movie began people had REAL survival guides to deal with the famed calendar’s end.

What about the mad scientists who put so much stock in these theories? Why aren’t they blamed for making the idea too realistic?

You can trace it back to a broad, widely discussed question: Do media shape culture or does culture shape media?  I’m sure there is an excellent argument for the other side, and I would love to hear it.  This is how I feel.

• People want end-of-the-world movies, Sony is giving them one.
• People are interested in the Mayan calendar and the 2012; Sony is giving them a dramatic narrative about it.
• People wanted an element of reality, and Sony gave it to them.

In Sony’s case, media react to culture.  If the Mayan calendar hadn’t been such a hot topic, would Sony make a movie about it?

There is a huge fascination with movies and books that are “based on true events.” For some reason people need that element of reality to be interested anymore. 

So should Sony apologize for doing their job too well?

The movie’s trailer was released in the November 2008 and has been highly successful in stirring up curiosity. It shows a monk running up a rugged pathway to a station perched on a mountain. He strikes a gong signaling danger just as the ocean brims over the Himalayas and begins flooding the world. 2012 was scheduled to be released on July 10, 2009 but has been pushed back to November 13, 2009 to give more time to complete production. Sony Pictures Imageworks was hired to create the highly graphic and realistic visual effects for the film.

Kenny Ortega, le réalisateur de THIS IS IT, déclare que “lorsque nous avons commencé a assembler les différents éléments de tournage pour le film, nous avons réalisé que nous avions enregistré quelque chose d’extraordinaire, unique et vraiment spécial. C’est un regard véritablement privé et exclusif sur le monde d’un génie créatif.”

Le film permet de voir des images de Michael Jackson en train de développer, créer et répéter pour ses concerts – tous complets – qui auraient dû se dérouler à compter de cet été à l’O2 Arena de Londres.

Surnommé le “Billion Dollar Maestro” par le magazine américain Variety, Kenny Ortega a travaillé sur des films, programmes de télévision, spectacles, concerts ou encore d’immenses événements comme des cérémonies de Jeux Olympiques avec toujours autant d’excellence. Directeur Artistique et partenaire créatif de Michael Jackson pour THIS IS IT, tout comme pour les précédentes tournées de Michael Jackson DANGEROUS TOUR et HISTORY TOUR, Kenny Ortega fut un ami et un collaborateur de Michael Jackson durant plus de 20 ans.

THIS IS IT sera présenté en salles dans le monde pour une durée limitée et exceptionnelle de deux semaines, à partir du mercredi 28 octobre. Les ventes des billets pour les deux semaines d’exploitation seront possibles à compter du dimanche 27 septembre pour les cinémas proposant ce service.
