Can words make a difference in someone’s life? I definitely think so. Telling a story can help under different points of view, I am sure about it, that’s why when Mail&Guardian launched the campaign “who are the women changing this country (South Africa)? I immediately tought about my South African friend Kerryn and her (not yet finished) book. In the picture Kerryn and the first page of her book

The Associated Press reports today that over 15,000 students marched in Cape Town to demand parliame

The Associated Press reports today that over 15,000 students marched in Cape Town to demand parliament increase funding for rural schools. The group told reporters that the country has spent over 700 million USD on the World Cup, but does not invest the same in basic educational services. South Africa has one of the largest rich/poor gaps in the world. Schools in black neighborhoods are severely underfunded compared to public schools in white neighborhoods. Less than 33% of South African third graders are able to read and write and most are held back till they drop out of school. I believe that if Jacob Zuma wants to create jobs, he needs to focus on educating the populace first. An uneducated workforce will never be able to compete in the global economy.
