SCOTTISH hunk Gerard Butler has shown his soft side by donating his teddy bear lookalike to Children in Need.

The big-hearted actor – best known for his testosterone charged role in blockbuster film 300 – has added his autograph to the prize.

The cuddly toy featured on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, where one was made of each guest on Friday 12 November.

Dressed in a red cape, brown pants and carrying a spear, the bear is styled on the star’s role as King Leonidas in the 2007 film which saw Butler screaming his way through the sword and sandals flick.

“This is Sparta!”

The stuffed Butler bear shouts “this is Sparta” when pushed in the tummy, and sports a drawn on six pack.

Made by Build-A-Bear – who make the official Children in Need Pudsey Bear – bids had already reached £430 last night (Tues), with three days left to go.

When the 40-year-old saw his doppelganger, he broke out into a big grin, saying: “I’ve had a couple of dolls made of me, but not a bear.”

And when he heard it speak, he added: “It sounds like my mum!”

The Paisley-born star was in the UK for the European premiere of his new film, Law Abiding Citizen, which was held in Glasgow.

It was also his 40th birthday on the day he appeared on the show – and a weekend of celebrations in London and Scotland followed.

As well as donating his signature to the cause, Butler filmed a link for the main Children in Need programme on BBC last Friday, urging people to donate to the charity.

After the great battle at the gates of ex-Mordor, some remnant ex-forces from the ex-army of ex-Sauron wander the world until they eventually find a new employer, a gay piercing-freak named Xerxes.

Said gay guy happens to be really really loaded and also happens to be into submission, but the Persian Empire (which he happened to be the emperor of) didn’t take homosexuality too well, so he decided to take over Greece, where homosexuality was instead quite common and socially acceptable (if not even reccomended!).

Xerxes especially wanted to get la… err, to become friends with the Spartans, who were well known for their six-pack abs, their leather briefs and their long, sturdy spears.

Too bad the Spartans didn’t really want to share a single partner, let alone a stranger who might carry who knows what STD’s and whatnot, so they told him to shove it (which, in Spartan Greek, sounds like “This is Sparta!”).

End of the story, Xerxes is struck by a teenager nervous breakdown, and he kills them all (with no small aid from Sauron’s remnant forces).

Incidentally, in the meanwhile, a very hot oracle (famous for having the hardest nipples ever seen on Middle-Earth)  gets raped by some really old and diseased men. Also, a hot MILF gets B-side raped, too.

yeah… so I was wrong about the release date for Roblox Total Havok 3… its been delayed a LOT, but with 125 open places, we’ve got plenty of places to film in, allowing for a greater variety of humor. OR, as Chicago would put it, “We’ve got sooo many places that it isn’t funny! BUT IT IS!!!”

…at least, that’s how i THINK he’d put it…

To retell the story of the band that could have changed popular punk music forever, I’ve created an interactive Google Map that tracks At the Drive-In’s last month together in early 2001. From their performance at Big Day Out in Australia to their last show in the Netherlands, the map gives some insight into how the band started to break down towards the end of their run with pictures, videos and details of each concert. Later today I plan on posting a timeline chronicling the bands entire existence through photos.

I will attempt to regularly post short capsule reviews of the albums I have selected to represent the best that 2000-2009 had to offer. Hopefully, I can get through them all before January 1st, when I will post the list in its entirety. The final list will be rated accordingly, but the reviews will be chosen at random. It’s become a fun way to re-experience these albums, some of which I haven’t listened to in awhile, and also a great reason to listen to many albums I have missed out on. Here are the first batch of capsules.

Brian Wilson—SMiLE!

The most talked-about and longest-awaited rock album of all time just happened to finally be released in this particular decade. Great—looks like all the other albums on the list can pack up and go home, right? Not necessarily. Wilson may have finally finished his masterpiece some 40 years after the project’s original inception, but there is no way the SMiLE! that finally saw the light of day could ever have measured up to the album that should have been created in 1967, Wilson’s creative heyday. There’s just no way! First of all, Wilson’s voice is about 1/8 what it used to be—these days, he has hardly any range, and on top of that, very little personality to his voice. Still, none of these flaws make SMiLE! less great. Its impeccably crafted whimsy and stream-of-consciousness song cycle have become insanely influential, thanks to the underground circulation of bootlegs over the last four decades. Conceptually, idealistically, and in pretty much every sense save for its execution, SMiLE! ranks among the best rock records in history. It also could be #1 on my soon-to-be-written list of Rock and Roll’s Most Tragic Could-Have-Beens.

At The Drive-In—Relationship of Command

Of all the bands that have broken up over the past decade, At The Drive-In should be missed the most. They brought a much-needed punk rock “fuck you” to the music industry in the late nineties, and took everyone completely by surprise—which is exactly what we need to happen today. Not a theoretical today, but actually TODAY. Tonight, At The Drive-In, or a band like them (yeah, right), need to be on David Letterman hopping around and dive-bombing the special guests. They need to be completely shredding ass to “One Armed Scissor” or a song like it (yeah, right). We NEED that, because seriously, how much more Biggest Loser and So You Think You Can Dance can this nation take? Why did ATDI have to go? If they had made one more album like Relationship of Command, it is likely music would be different today. Maybe that was too much pressure for them, which is understandable. This business eats people up. The question needs to be asked though—is this writer alone in the feeling that Mars Volta and Sparta were like the Devil’s cruel joke to anyone who never got lucky enough to see At The Drive-In live? Seriously.

Pernice Brothers—Yours, Mine & Ours

Very rarely do albums this sad evoke such feelings of happiness. It’s possible when the songs are just that good, and such is the case with the third album from the Pernice Brothers. Their career milestone to this day, Mine & Ours surprised and delighted those who were nonplussed by their iffy sophomore effort and carries a distinction very few records receive—it is a perfect album. That’s right, there’s not a bad song in the bunch. Granted, these songs are very melancholy and for the most part suit a certain mood, but music this good can’t be pigeonholed as “mood music”. It’s not something the listener can control. Undeniably catchy mope-anthems like “Weakest Shade of Blue” and “One Foot in the Grave” permeate and eventually become the mood. Once under the spell of the rock tunes, the listener is no match against breathtakingly beautiful ballads like “Blinded by the Stars” and “Number Two”. Almost always, they are rendered helpless and goo-like.

Is this what it meant to be myself?  There are arrows that exist at some points and occasionally others—there are swings of swords and finishing strikes with a vaguely Eastern flourish (not to say that the Greeks are not capable of flourish, they certainly are the sons and daughters of Helen), there are reasons to fight these mythical creatures, these Persians with their long hair and their golden hooks and beliefs that they are gods of all of these places, that our god is worth more than theirs.  Not once have I lost blood in slow motion and I am not certain if the loss of it requires all of this detail—time already stops when there is blood on my football jersey and I have to rub whatever spattered flourish into itself (we wear whites when we are away) to turn everything pink, and certainly there is no pink in Sparta:  there is nothing but men here—we fuck (yes! fuck!) our women who could best any man not from here, we laugh at anyone who is not a soldier, and so there is no room for a culture that means anything but what shield we used.  The boy washing his blood away to get back into battle would’ve loved this—he would’ve screamed ‘This is Sparta!’ despite this not being Sparta or Spartan—he would’ve used more exclamation points—he would’ve marveled at how the body separates from itself when metal is introduced to skin—he would’ve thought he learned something about history, about what it is like to write a Letter in November, about courage and Laconophilia, and he would’ve listened to something industrial, something with the sounds of labor, and he would’ve run back onto the field of battle knocked out on his feet.

Oma mäng ei vääri kommentaare, sest köik oli nii ebahea, et sönu ei ole. Lihtsalt väga väga halb esitus.

Saalihokist jalgpallini oli sisuliselt tund. Eesti-Albaaniat önnestus mul seekord vaadata VIP-tribüünilt. Selles möttes oli hea, et sai süüa ja juua ja soojas mängu vaadata, aga paraku jäi see viimane tegevus seal tribüünil küll tahaplaanile. Esiteks ei adunud öieti ära mis toimubki, sest köik toimus nagu kuskil kaugel klaasi taga ja mängust ülevaade oli absoluutselt null. Ma olin siiamaani veendunud, et Eesti vöitis 1:0, aga nagu nüüd (öösel) koju tulles internetist teada sain, siis luges kohtunik Piiroja värava suluseisust lööduks ja seega noh – ei väravat. Paganamani, see väike asi jäi küll mul Lillekal märkamata. Nats piinlik lugu…. Enam ma sinna VIP tribüünile ei kipu, seal ei saa jalgpalli vaadata. Kujutlematu, et keegi (kui üldse on selliseid inimesi) ostab sinna pileti 1000 krooniga. Vöi noh vähemalt müüakse küll.

Pärast jalgpalli oli jälle tund, et jöuda Lillekalt Nokia Konterdimajja Ürgmehe etendusele. Millegipärast oli täna kaks esimest pingirida ära vöetud ja meie kolmanda rea piletid olid hetkega esirea piletid – pole paha. Jan “Ürgmees” Uuspöld oli ägä ja veel ägedam oli Tanel Padar – see mees on ikka paganama ägä. No öudselt kohe

Ürgmehest kuni Iiri – Prantsuse mänguni oli 0-minutit Kiire söit läbi linna Siki juurde ja jalgpall polnudki paha. Paha oli see, et Prantsusmaa vöitis, mulle oleks iirlaste vöit palju rohkem meeldinud. Lisaks kaotasid ka inglased, st täiesti ebaönnestunud pallimängudepäev.

Ja soovitan endale mitte nii tihedat päeva planeerida, kuigi samas polnud vähemalt igav

Facebook is awesome. It really truly is. Yet it has a feature that I don’t see the point in… It is the “Poke” button…

First off I don’t know why anyone would poke someone? Second of all if someone pokes you what is proper procedure? Do you poke them back?

Second of all.. The creepiest thing is when a man pokes another man on Facebook. First off no dude should poke another dude. That is man law. Second of all if two guys poke please don’t call it “poking”. No one knows what there poking with.

Third of all….Facebook needs to add a “Spartan kick button”…

Hello There!

Its been quite a while and I thought you were due for an update. We returned from the Far East at the very end of July. Since then I started a judicial clerkship in Family Court and Jah has returned to NYU full-time. Rather than have me commute 3 hours a day, we decided to rent out our house in Tenafly and move to Newton in Sussex County, NJ for the duration of my clerkship- one year ending on August 31, 2010.

Newton is located in Northwest New Jersey not too far from the Poconos and Scranton in Pennsylvania.  There are no buddhist monks dressed in saffron here. In fact there is nothing here but farms, lakes and mountains; which is actually pretty cool.  I see deer on the side of the road eating flowers all the time. Its beautiful and peaceful. However, the nightlife and culture are lacking. While I am a visitor in Sussex County, I figured we might as well go ahead and do all the hokey stuff country people do.

My first weekend in Newton, I went with my sister, mother, nephew and neice to a farm for pumpkin picking and a hay ride. And I am a frequent visitor to Krough’s, the perfect bar that serves the perfect pomegranate martini’s (and I hear the pumpkin ale is good, too) on Lake Mohawk in Sparta.

Besides kicking it country style, I have been preparing for the inevitable bar study which shall commence on Black Friday (how fitting). I have also been thinking a lot about the next step, where I am at in terms of my dreams and what I would like to accomplish next.
