Vi ricordate un paio di anni orsono la campagna di Greenpeace firmata Spencer Tunick?
600 volontari nudi di fronte al ghiacciaio più esteso delle Alpi svizzere, l’Aletsch Glacier, per ribadire il pericolo rappresentato dai cambiamenti climatici.

Tunick, famoso per le sue installazioni fatte con corpi umani, questa volta collabora con Greenpeace Francia…

… e dato che squadra vincente non si cambia… in vista del vertice sul clima che si terrà a Copenhagen a Dicembre, Greenpeace France, Spencer Tunick e 713 volontari ci riprovano raccontando a modo loro l’effetto sortito dal riscaldamento globale.

Infatti, pare che il vino francese (in particolare la zona della Borgogna), a causa del cambiamento climatico stia cambiando aroma e gusto. La vendemmia è anticipata di diversi giorni, rispetto anche ad alcuni anni fa, e i vini contengono più zuccheri e meno acidi, aumentando nella gradazione alcolica. Tutte queste informazioni sono raccolte all’interno di un dossier “Rouge Alert: Climate change threatens French wine” prodotto dalla stessa Greenpeace.

There’s nothing I like more than strolling through a vineyard in my birthday suit in support of worthy causes and that’s exactly what hundreds of our French cousins did at the beginning of this month, answering the clarion call of photographer Spencer Tunick who wanted to illustrate the threat of global warming through art.

Tunick was there supporting Greenpeace and the wider message of climate change was illustrated by a specific focus on the vulnerability of wines and agriculture in France.

Fotografen Spencer Tunick har tatt bilde av 700 nakne Greenpeaceaktivister i markene til Chateau des Rontets i Fuisse, Frankrike. De slår alarm om klimatrusselen som også truer vinverden. Greenpeace publiserte for litt siden en rapport som viser at innhøstingen i kommunen Beaune i Burgund gjennomsnittlig startet 13 dager tidligere mellom 1973-1987 enn i perioden 1988-2006. De hevder at vinene fra Burgund, slik vi kjenner de i dag kan forsvinne for alltid. Rapporten viser at hvis klimaendringene fortsetter, vil temperaturen stige med seks grader innen 2100. Det advares også mot nye vinsykdommer og råte på grunn av større nedbørsmengder.

Årets Bokmässa var en fantastisk upplevelse. Guldkornen för min del var att få lyssna till Isabel Allende som  pratade bort Daniel Sjölin på ett fullständigt charmerande rappt sätt, vilket drog ner skrattsalvor från den fullsatta salen. Flera gånger satt han svarslös efter att hon så spirituellt svarat på hans frågor, att han inte fann ord. Frågor som var tänkta att vara kluriga - gavs alltigenom dräpande svar i form av retoriska frågor som utlöste publikens jubel.

En annan fullfjädrad underhållare, författare och uppläsare var förstås Jonas Karlsson som läste ett fjortisekvilibristiskt stycke ur sin novellsamling “Den perfekte vännen“ W&W . Där var det inte bara skrattsalvor utan vrålgarv från första till sista meningen. En perfekt skriven novell och ett perfekt framförande – vad mer kan man begära.

I vimlet syntes sedan alla – från en något perplex Herman Lindqvist, som stod och såg lite förbluffad ut över åhörarskarans relativa gleshet till en reslig  Thomas Bodström - synd på en så stilig man att han sålt sin själ åt bushadministrationens antiterrorhetska krav på patriotact-åtgärder från resten av världssamfundet efter 9/11.  Att därefter skriva en bok med den ironiska titeln Idealisten - med den CV:n – verkar alltså väl magstarkt.

Spencer Tunick (born January 1, 1967) is an American artist. He is best known for his installations that feature large numbers of nude people posed in artistic formations. These installations are often situated in urban locations throughout the world, although he has also has done some “Beyond The City” woodland and beach installations and still does individuals and small groups occasionally. Tunick is the subject of three HBO documentaries, Naked States, Naked World, and Positively Naked. His models are volunteers who receive a limited edition photo as a reward.

Site specific art is a public art work that is made for a specific place. The artist will consider the site when making the artwork and the work usually connects to or reflects aspects of it’s site. The term ’site specific’ was first used in the late 1960’s , Robert Barry said in 1966 “(site installation) is made to suit the place in which it was installed. They cannot be moved without being destroyed.”

Site specific art can be many things from permanent sculpture, temporary sculpture, performance art, to land art.

Spencer Tunick’s, tableaux are carefully composed events using volunteers and take place at a specific site. A group of naked volunteers metamorphosize into a mass covering and echoing their surroundings. This temporary work is documented in photographs. Nudity is not new in art and it highlights the contrast between the human body and the environments we create to live in. Tunick has infact been arrested 5 times for indecent exposure but states “I feel that my nudes are not controversial. The controversy lies in the fact that I’m using the city as my landscape”.

Anish Kapoor is an Indian born Brittish sculptor who became established in the 1980’s. His work, often with spiritual qualities reflects his knowledege of both Eastern and Western culture. This huge sculpture is a permanent site specific artwork in Chicago’s Millenium park. It reflects the Chicago skyline and also enables the viewer to interact with and become part of the art. He is known for using natural materials which reflect the landsape around the object. The mirrors reflect not only the people viewing the sculpture but also reflect the site so the site becomes part of the art.

Another example of Site specific art at Chicago’s Millennium park is Jaume Plensa’s The Crown Fountain. This interactive sculpture combines video technology and water sculpture to produce a reflective piece of work for Chicago. Ever 12 minutes a person’s face appears on the giant screen, every person featured is a member of the Chicago community and vary in age race and sex. The giant sculptures imitate the buildings seen in the skyline behind and the technology reflects modern life and the diversity of the community. The faces act as giant gargoils as they spout streams of water from their mouths ever so often and this allows the people to interact and play in the water. I think the aim was to also bring the community together and have a place for people to have fun.

There is so much public art and site specific art out there and I think it can be a great way of bringing the public and communities into the art world and I love seeing and hearing people’s reactions to different artworks in the public domain.

Nota 2: Efectivamente, la versión 1.0 de esta entrada estaba muy malvibrosa y me podía traer problemas, por eso tuve a bien que editarla. (Próximamente haré un blog pa los que odiamos a Tunick… ¡No es cierto, no es cierto!… Para quienes odiamos a Pollock, ji ji ji)

Quienes me conocen en persona conocen mi animadversión por Spencer Tunick.

Con eso de que vino a México otra vez, como si nos HICIEEEERAAAAA el favor de venir a encuerar a la gente y todos lo tratan como si fuera la encarnación de Álvarez Bravo, permítanme exponer mis razones por las cuales no disfruto su obra:

1. Sus fotografías están subexpuestas o sobreexpuestas. Estamos frente a un “amateur” con iniciativa, cuyo trabajo ha sido sobrevalorado por la crítica, pero eso sí, ¡le echa ganas!

2. Sus fotografías carecen de composición. Gogleen “composición fotográfica” y verán que incluso hay fotografías en las que el ilustre “artista” incluso comete “errores” garrafales. Entrecomillo errores, porque los relativistas -que no son pocos- podrían preguntare “¿error según quién?” Y tienen razón. Yo no soy nadie para juzgar su composición.

3. No comprendo el punto de sus creaciones. Excepto la foto para greenpeace (que no produjo él, sino los publicistas de greenpeace), pareciera no decir mucho. De hecho me parece cool que la gente disfrute su desnudez, y le rinda tributo a su cuerpo ¿Pero por qué sólo se quitan la ropa cuando un gringo les dice? Queremos ver más carne.

4. Posee una sólida y compleja formación afrancesada, por lo que simpatiza con el nadaísmo, contrario a mí, que lo encuentro insulso. 

5. Algunas personas me han dicho “pus si tan buey es, ¿cómo le hace pa montar tanta galería?”  Picasso o Dalí (pero era español, lo juro) dijo que “Un pintor es quien pinta lo que vende; un artista es quien vende lo que pinta”. Y, por supuesto, Tunick vende las fotos que toma, aunque no me gusten.

6. Si muy salsa, ¿por qué no toma él las fotos desnudo?

Finalmente, para que no crean que nomás tiro mala vibra en este blog, permítanme decirles que por fin he entendido al sublime Spencer Tunick. Lo que pasa es que dentro de su obra hay una enorme filosofía que implica autoconocimiento, un cuestionamiento a los valores estéticos de nuestra época y un postulado que le rompe los dientes a la filosofía occidental. Esto no lo sé porque yo sea humilde, sino porque amablemente Marianona me explicó su premisa, que enuncia:

“Si algo sale mal, es porque no quería que saliera bien”

Aplíquenla. Me cae que se van a sentir los reyes de su actividad. Veamos algunos ejemplos:

JEFE: ¡Gómez! ¡Todos estos cálculos están mal! ¡La casa que estamos diseñando puede desmoronarse!
GÓMEZ: No están mal, jefe, así quería que salieran. Quienes vean la casa podrán reflexionar sobre la industria de la construcción y las implicaciones éticas de tener una casa mientras otros viven en la calle o en condiciones habitacionales indignas.

PROGRAMADOR WEB 1: Q onda man¿¿¿ el “código” (N.del A. Código= apócope para “código fuente”) q mandaste tiene un bug.
PROGRAMADOR WEB 2: No está mal programado. Yo quería que el bucle no cerrara para disfrutar de mi programa en entera libertad.

Gracias Tunick por esta filosofía. Si esta entrada les pareció agresiva, poco chistosa, o carece de sentido, no es que esté mal, sino que así queríamos que saliera. jajaja.

Esta comprobado de sobra que funciona más hacerte famoso por crear polémica con chismes de lavadero, que mostrando el talento (si es que lo hay) en este caso me refiero a Spencer Tunick, para quien no lo conozca es un “fotografo” que se ha hecho muy popular, no por que haga milagros con la camarita, nada de eso, es famoso simplemente porque tuvo la brillante idea de hacer lo que a nadie se le habia ocurrido, tomar fotos a numerosos grupos de gente enseñando practicamente todo y gracias al morbo que esto despierta es por lo que el viejito este sigue vigente y no solo eso,  sigue viajando a muchos lugares del mundo para hacer sus “obras de arte”, ¿tú que opinas, es en verdad un artista por hacer lo que hace? o ¿es solo un mamón con aires de grandeza?

Por cierto el lugar donde más ha reunido gente fué en el Zócalo de la Ciudad de México, pinches chilagos (as) hipócritas, bueno solo las chilangas, los vatos ya sabemos que fueron a ver culos y tetas aunque tuvieron que sacrificarse y ver miles de vergas y de paso que les vieran también a ellos sus miserias, y les digo hipócritas porque no hace mucho traían el mitote de que las miradas “lascivas” hacia las feminas, serían consideradas delito, pero nadie pone un pero, para ir a enseñar todo, ah pero eso si, con decir que es “arte” se les disculpa todo, HIPOCRITAS!!!!.

Artist declines invite from Dublin Docklands Development Agency.        He wants National Gallery or Irish Museum of Modern Art

 The Irish public showed him theirs. But now he won’t show us his. Spencer Tunick, the American artist who photographed thousands of nudes in Dublin and Cork as part of an art installation last year, is refusing to exhibit his pictures in Ireland.

The artist was scheduled to reveal images from the naked photo shoots in Dublin this spring but has refused to do so after the Dublin Docklands Development Authority (DDDA) asked him to stage an exhibition in the CHQ building in the Irish Financial Services Centre.

Tunick is understood to have declined the invitation, saying that he would rather exhibit his creations in the National Gallery or Irish Museum of Modern Art. But neither gallery has a slot available to host an exhibition by the controversial American artist in the coming months.

The DDDA has now asked the artist to display his Irish images online so that the general public can view his naked mosaics, but last week said it was still “finalising plans” to allow the Irish public to view them. William Galinsky, director of the Cork Midsummer Festival, said that an announcement would be made shortly.

Almost 1,200 volunteers participated in a nude photoshoot at Blarney Castle in Co Cork last June, while just over 100 people took part in a smaller shoot at White Street car park in Cork city. Days later more than 2,500 took part in another installation at South Wall in Dublin’s docklands. Another 144 participants took part in another smaller installation on the balconies of the Alto Vetro Building at Grand Canal Dock later that day.

Those who took part were told that Tunick’s images would be displayed in Dublin in summer 2009. The artist’s naked models were also promised a limited edition print of one of his images for taking part. Last week the DDDA confirmed volunteers would still receive a limited edition photograph to mark the event. These will be distributed in June.

Tunick has been documenting the live nude figure in public since 1992 and has hosted installations in the US, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Belgium, Portugal, Britain, France, Spain, Austria and Holland. In 2007, 18,000 people posed for one of the artist’s creations in Mexico City.

Tunick only ever exhibits a small selection of his nude tableaux. He has previously held shows in the Hilger Contemporary in Vienna, Austria; the Hales gallery

in London; the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, England; and the I-20 gallery in New York.

Participants in the Irish projects, including Ray D’Arcy, a Today FM presenter, described the experience as “liberating”, even “life-changing”. Volunteers at the Dublin photo shoot were required to be at Dublin’s South Wall at 3am. The event lasted almost four hours, although those taking part were only naked for 45 minutes. Some cut short their participation when it began to rain shortly after 6am.

Tom Lawlor, a photographer who took part in the Dublin exhibition, said he was disappointed that Tunick’s images would not be on public display. “He took the pictures but the public made the art,” he said. “It was very much a collaborative effort.”

Lawlor said that he felt that CHQ would be an ideal venue for an exhibition. “Why should the images only be exhibited in the rarefied confines of an art gallery? After all, it was a populist project made possible by volunteers,” he said.

Tunick has been arrested a number of times while creating his artworks. Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York, said his work was offensive and invasive, while in Chile his human landscapes were described as pornographic.

Seni itu sendiri sebenarnya memang relatif, yang merupakan sebuah hasil dari suatu kreasi serta ekspresi dari orang yang membuatnya. Begitu pula makna dari sebuah hasil kreasi tersebut, tentu selalu  tergantung dari kacamata orang yang memaknai kreasi tersebut…Walah ribet khan ngertiinnya ?

Coba saja lihat hasil kreasi dari seorang photographer ini, memanfaatkan  objek foto-foto bugil dan telanjang dari beratus pria dan wanita untuk menghasilkan suatu foto seni…terus terang saya tidak bisa menikmatinya, tapi yah unik saja kaleee ya …?

Mau  liat foto-foto nya ? Nih lihat foto-foto bugil beramai-ramai yang dijadikan suatu foto seni ala Spencer tunick….

18,000 People With No Clothes On

Varios recordaran a este famoso fotografo llamado Spencer Tunick, si aquel que levanto una gran polemica por fotografiar a cuerpos totalmente desnudos en la plancha del zocalo capitalino y el cual todo su trabajo lo basa en el cuerpo humano y en la desnudes de este.

Bueno pues este fotografo regreso a Mexico ya que hoy presento la nueva exposicion que exhibira en abril y la cual contendra 30 imagenes de personas posando desnudas en areas publicas de nuestra ciudad.

Para hacer este proyecto trabajo con grupos de 10 personas durante 4 dias y estas sesiones fueron tomadas del 15 al 18 de enero, asi que si en estos dias ustedes vieron a personas desnudas en la calle y les estaban tomando fotos ya sabran el porque he. Y pues este es el segundo trabajo que Tunick viene hacer a Mexico, y pues solo resta esperar esa expo para caerle y ver a los valientes que se animaron hacer los desnudos en las areas publicas de esta gran ciudad.
