Η κυρία είναι πλανόδια πωλήτρια, πουλάει χαρτομάνδηλα, αλλά ... εξυπηρετεί τους θαμώνες σαν να είναι ιδιοκτήτρια των μπαρ: τακτοποιεί τα τραπεζάκια και σου βρίσκει κάθισμα με κέρασμα ... λίγους ξηρούς καρπούς!

Στο Barabar μπροστά βρίσκεται τοποθετημένο το μικρό πάλκο από όπου τραγουδά ο εκάστοτε ερμηνευτής...

Αψευδής μαρτυρία: η Γιώτα ήρθε στο τσακίρ κέφι!

Το ... μηχάνημα της Efes που περιέχει ποσότητα μπύρας ικανή να γεμίσεις και να ξαναγεμίσεις τα ποτήρια της παρέας!

Οπως κατεβαίνεις την Ιστικλάλ από την Πλατεία Ταξίμ, πριν φτάσεις στο άνοιγμα του Γαλατάσαράϊ, στο δεξί σου χέρι θα βρεις 2 στενά παράλληλα σοκάκια (Solakzade Sk. και Balo Sk.), που ενώνουν την Ιστικλάλ με την παράλληλη οδό Ταρλάμπασι. Αμέσως μετά τα στενά αυτά,  θα δεις την είσοδο της Στοάς των Λουλουδιών (Çiçek Pasajı - Cité de Pera) και, αμέσως κολλητά, την περίτεχνη είδοσο της Ψαραγοράς (Balik Pazari). Στο μέσο του ενός στενού, του Solakzade Sokak, λίγο πριν αυτό διασταυρωθεί με το Balo Sokak και με την κάθετη οδό που τέμνει και τα δύο,  την οδό Νεβιζαντέ (στη γωνία της οποίας βρίσκεται το Hotel Interroyal και η οποία είναι γεμάτη μεϊχανέ, ταβέρνες, ουζάδικα), θα βρεις 2 αντικρυστά μπαρ, το Barabar και το Splendor, που έχουν απλωμένα τα τραπεζάκια τους και τους ναργιλέδες τους δεξιά-αριστερά, σε σημείο κατάληψης του δρόμου, με συνέπεια, όταν τα βράδια γεμίζουν από κόσμο, το στενό να μετατρέπεται σε … ιδιωτική αυλή των 2 καταστημάτων: τις περισσότερες φορές μπροστά στο Barabar υπάρχει  τραγουδιστής ή  μικρό συγκρότημα που εξυπηρετεί τους πελάτες … όλου του στενού. Και στα 2 μπαρ σερβίρουν μπύρα Efes (δοκίμασε, αν είσαι με μεγάλη παρέα, να παραγγείλετε το μηχάνημα της εταιρίας με το οποίο γεμίζεις συνεχώς τα άδεια ποτήρια!). Το ρεπερτόριο είναι τουρκική λαϊκή μουσική, διεθνείς επιτυχίες από Diana Ross  έως … Νάνα Μούσχουρη, ακούγονται μέχρι και κομμάτια του Χατζηδάκη και του Θεοδωράκη, όλα αυτά στα τουρκικά!

Το κέφι είναι μεγάλο, ο κόσμος διασκεδάζει πολύ, γίνονται πειράγματα από τους διερχόμενους τουρίστες και η όλη ατμόσφαιρα είναι πολύ παρεϊστικη  και “χύμα”…

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What do you think is the most significant purpose God has for us on this earth? You could certainly build a case for loving others. The Apostle John told us that God is love, so loving others is most certainly on God’s agenda. Evangelism must be a priority. Jesus left us with the great commission to go and make disciples of all nations. Personal worship is another purpose God has created us for. God longs for our adoration. He is worthy of all our praise and worship. What a privilege it is to bow down before the Almighty creator of the Universe and know that He cares deeply for our worship. David said to “Honor the Lord” and “To worship Him in the splendor of His holiness.” It is nearly impossible to fathom what it is like to be before God in all His splendor and majesty, but that is what we are invited to do. Take the mountain tops, the streams, sunsets, ocean views, canyons and any other majestic visuals images that you have been privileged to see and let it equal one drop of water. Now put that drop in the ocean and you will begin to see how our paltry earthly images compare to His splendor. So today, no matter where you are, stop and participate in one of the most sacred and special purposes of our human experience. Right this moment, praise Him for who He is. Thank Him for all He has done. Worship Him in all His glory. He has invited you to come and adore Him. Don’t take His invitation for granted. It is a rare gift from God Himself. Worship Him with all your heart, soul and mind.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come right now to worship You. Thank You for Your love for me. I bow before You this moment and adore You for all Your goodness. You are the true and living Almighty God and I praise You for all You have done for me. Thank You for making me Your Child through the death of Your Son, Jesus, on the cross for me. I love and worship You in Jesus Name.

Attention fans of the books of Gossip Girl fans!

The 12th book of the Gossip Girl series, entitled I Will Always Love You written by Cecily von Ziegesar, is finally hitting book shelves on November 3rd!

My friend E had just bought Gossip Girl Season 2 and inside the DVD set, there is an excerpt of the latest book!!  When I saw it, I got so excited!  I started the Gossip Girl series when I was a sophomore in High School, turning friends and their friends onto the series as well.  I read the books any chance I got, even in class.  Reading behind a text book in class? I was a born pro.

But I was heartbroken when the series came to a stop.  They were so addictive!! And I’m sure other fans of the books can agree.

Well now the wait is over, November 3rd can’t come soon enough!! And this time, the crew is back from College for the holidays, and who knows what is going to happen!

Following the latest book in the series Envy, readers are left with the unknown futures of Diana, Penelope, Elizabeth and Henry. I won’t say much about the series, to save from spoiling it for new readers, but take my blog for it, The Luxe is a enticing gossip-guilty book read, that centers itself in New York City circa 1900. If you can’t wait till November 3rd for Gossip Girl, check out Splendor!!

Giving alms to the poor is often considered an altrustic action in many cultures and religions.

Scripture:  Take what is yours and go. What if I wish to give this last one the same as you?  (Matthew 20:14)

Observation:  Yesterday’s reflection was a little troubling to me, because I was not making the connection to the verse like I normally do.  However, I did not change my reflection like I normally do, since yesterday was a full day of hanging out with family.  If you look back at yesterday’s reflection, you will see that I made a comment about not envying what others have, and it clearly relates to today’s reading.  God knows that I am journaling every day, so I guess He is not finding it necessary to reveal the whole message to me through one day’s readings.

Faithfulness (Latin: fides):  I will do my best to display the fruit of faithfulness in my life today and throughout my faith walk for the rest of my life.  You would think it would not be hard to be faithful, when faced with constant revelation from the Word of God, but I will still be praying and hoping for all of the graces necessary to fight off my flesh.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to be faithful in all of my endeavors to enjoy my vacation with my family today and make the most of this time that we have together to rejoice in your spendor.  In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

My friend Faizal wanted me to meet his childhood friend who is making traditional embroideries near the chowk in Varanasi (Benaras).
He has been learning this knowledge from his father who did the same with his father and it was like that since the time of the Mughals when that kind of work flourished.
Nowadays men wear garments with heavy embroideries mostly for weddings and engagement ceremonies.
When we came to his small workshop he was working on this white jaquard sherwani.
This hand embroidery will complete this coat which was ordered for a wedding.
Each time I have an opportunity to see a workshop like that I feel that I am opening a bottle of perfume and I can scent a voluptuous fragrance from the past, it is like opening a door to a dream of magnificence, the splendor of the Great Mughals….

Rain, bike and highway. They do form a adrenalin rushing trio, isn’t it? Thundering sound of rains, rumble of bike’s engine and silence around that empty highway front of you. and you have another rush of excitement running through your spine!

All that written above happened to me,  just around an houror two ago. I was returning from a friend’s place in Borivali. I took two consecutive right turns and joined the (Western Express) highway. Then I overtook a sloppy BEST bus, only to be greeted by a red signal. I came to a screeching halt… (I tell you, braking on wet road with wet tyre is very risky at times, especially when you have a bus at your back!) There was layed a scene for me. A slight turn to the road, road dividing into a flyover and next exit, Fading yellow street lights… with one on the top of flyover flickering! Now signal goes green, BEST bus honks, I shift to first and zooop! I got fading into the scene.

So late night, there is very less traffic southwards. Road is all wet. Rain is literally piercing my face. On the top of the flyover, I suspect if my tyre is really touching the road or its just water that my bike is running on! Further away near kandivali, the big total 8 lane highway is open from both sides. With no big buildings arounds, it is a playground for naughtiest of winds. Again a slight turn on road. I am Rossi on Splendor. I don’t turn but tilt my bike a bit. The wind comes hurling down and shakes my leg. So hard, that my balance actually shuddered. Never experienced sommething like this before… I am like F*%^ F#%@ F$@%. My swearing finds no end. I change lanes from the fastest one. My speed is visibly reduced (Overdose of shampoo and skin cream ads has resulted into this phrase, ‘visibly reduced’!)

There are yet many more slight turns, potholes and flyovers to go for Goregaon… During drier times I reach home really within the flying time but tonight, I saw the time fly by. I could count my cold breathing, my swearings, my half wet body shudders. But come what may, there was a road forward always.

4th…………………………………………………………..  3rd………………………………….. 2nd………… 1st…… neutral. I come to final stop. An exit for goregaon. I relieve my clenching fists on handlebar. My hand is cold and Red! It looks like too much of blood was being flown here… I rub them onto each other in a hope to normalize them. Scorpio in front of me lends me a big cloud of diesel and zooms ahead. I see the signal is green, again! I move forward, sans any highway. A few turns more and my home awaits me… … …

Ok here is a quick question, why exactly are the Kardashian sisters famous?  I mean they are inherently quite fashionable and undoubtedly attractive in that Hollywood seductive way; but what the heck valid an entire reality show to be revolved around their lives?  I suppose in the beginning Kim’s well endowed ass was the big focal point; but now that she has lost weight, her booty is just as perky as my own Asian big ass!  Also let’s get real, most people in LA do not live like these celebrities we see on TMZ and OK magazine; although I totally wouldn’t mind!   

Well, I shouldn’t denigrate the show too much because I am embarrassingly an avid watcher (even the repeats)!  I’m a BRAVO and E! channel reality show junkie; my favorite is Top Chef, Rachel Zoe is annoying but I get good fashion tips, the Housewives of Atlanta and New York are pretty funny.  Call me retarded but I just do! 

As much as I can hate on these pretty celebrity and their unlimited spending accounts, I do want all their handbags!!!!  A good blend of classic Chanel and cutting edge Moni Moni handbags defines a true fashionista and that is heaven to me!  Look how casually stylish Kourtney Kardashian looks carrying the Moni Moni caramel color Splendor handbag!
