Day 1 was at an awesome farm/barn in North Shanty Bay (near Barrie, ON) – Samsara Farms, arranged by our Production Manager Ashley Brown. It was a long 12 hour day but the weather was great and we ended up with a lot of good material in the can. Our make up artist Remi Suzuki was on the ball and executed some complicated make up FX through out the hectic day. Add that to the amazing performances by Caleigh Le Grand (featured in my other music video Breathless by Slow Motion Victory) and Natalia Kirilova and you’ve got yourself some great stuff! And of course, the amazing support team I had – Navneet Chhajer (1st AD), Jayant Khare (DP) and Fergus Lowry (Glidecam Operator) made my vision a reality. Without these amazingly talented people I wouldn’t have ended up with a product that I am so proud of.

Day 2 was a less hectic day (especially since we moved the call time to 2pm!) at my friend Harsh Jain’s new home. I finally had the pleasure to direct Robert Nolan. I’ve been editing many of his newer films and have seen his tour de force performances over the past couple years and have wanted to work with him for awhile. And it sure as heck was a blast! The focus and experience that Robert brings to his performance was simply brilliant. And as soon as the cameras stopped rolling he’d go back to being his goofy self! We wrapped the day at about 6pm and went out to Joey’s Don Mills for some well deserved drinks and eats. Mmmm… red wine & steak = Yummy with a capital Y!

Now the video is at its final stages of post. I locked the picture today and colour graded it. Tomorrow I’ll receive the visual FX shots from Jay Smith and boom! we shall have a finished music video. I’m looking forward to sharing it with the world. Whether we win the Genero TV competition or not doesn’t really matter to me. Well, maybe it does a little. Yeah, it does matter. Regardless, this was a passion project and the end product is something that I’m really proud of, and I hope the entire cast & crew will feel the same. Till next time…

It’s days like these that makes me truly content – a great day at work with people I love and then hangin’ out at cool spots with people I love. This is what Toronto is all about. Love it. Truly.

I arrived on Friday afternoon (March 30) and headed right to Hertz to pickup my rental car. After a long wait it was finally my turn and I was being upgraded because of the wait. Going from an economy to midsize is good and all but I had my eyes set on the sexy red Camero convertable that I passed as I walked in. So yeah, I took the upgrade and then some…

Checked into my hotel in Manhattan Beach, took a shower and went to my meeting with a content provider (to talk distribution for a project). Then picked Navneet up from the airport (he certainly wasn’t expecting me to roll up in a Camero) and hit Hollywood Blvd. Fun timez.

The next day (Sat Mar 31) we were at the InkTip Summit all day. A whole day of pitches from various writers from all over North America. Met some really awesome people and heard some cool movie ideas. I have a list of screenplays and notes to go through this weekend. I really enjoyed the summit. I think Jerrol Lebaron and team did an awesome job and took care of us really well. Later that night we hit Manhattan Beach Brewing co for dinner (which was awesome) followed by a drive down a Sunset Blvd to a couple bars in Hollywood West. I had an even better time this night. Cool vibe. My style.

Sunday morning after a Mexican breakfast I dropped Navneet off at LAX and drove to Hollywood West to have drinks with an ex-girlfriend. Turns out he fiance was joining us. Unexpected. Was certainly interesting but a lot less awkward that I would have imagined. Then I took a drive to Rodeo Drive (I’m sure I would have enjoyed it more if I was a girl or was rich). The drive up to the Hollywood sign however was truly magical. The fact that it was around magic hour and the frame of mind I was in (I suppose) made this part of my trip truly special. Had the top down on the car, Lana Del Rey on my iPod and just soaking in the fact that I was at one of the most iconic places in the world puts a smile on my face everytime I think about it I was in love.

The next morning it was time to leave LaLa Land. Not before stopping at IHOP for brunch of course! Took a stroll at gorgeous Manhattan Beach because I had some tome then returned the Camero and took the shuttle to LAX. Hopping onto the place and taking off, I had just one thing on my mind… I will be back.

But it’s not all work of course…. We’re certainly planning to party it up! A friend of mine, Katie Uhlmann is currently living in West Hollywood and she’s gonna be our go-to party guide!

Alrighty, my delayed flight is finally boarding so I’m off…
