The aftermath of Mr. Woods slinging his essence throughout the country is NOT a new thing. In Ken Burns’ documentary : [Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson], the story of the first “DARK STAR”, in the sport of [the PUGILISTIC \"arts\",]was the first non-European “gentleman” to dominate [John Sholto Douglas\'] set of RULES against any other of HIS time.

It is ONLY a CENTURY LATER that Mr. JOHNSON’S famed/ “INFAMOUS” uses of celebrity have been brought to a “POSSIBLE”[\'EXPUNGMENT\']. It isn’t so unseemly that the population of the “DISAPPOINTED”/ “I TOLD YOU SO’s” haven’t changed in ALL THIS TIME. Their’s is the historical/ “klanish” fear of the “BEAST” that “IS” the black, negro, african-american…[\"SPOOK\" ]… “super” spade, digging into the genetic fabric of the ‘PROTECTED SANCTITY of the “white” womb’. It’s a GLARING banner that this nation shines over the world. Of its being the “ONE PLACE” where ALL are FREE, in THEIR pursuit of HAPPINESS, to do so. The catch, that most forget, is that ‘happiness’ IS A UNIVERSAL provision, only allowed to be TRULY, ( and COMPLETELY.), possessed IF IT INJURES NO OTHERS.

Dear Mr. Woods, you have had the life of the meteor, we’ve seen your extraordinary [Golfing ] accomplishments. And are waiting patiently for your surviving this “tournament”of maturity. But, surely your jousting

days should be dismissed from your life, since it IS proving to unsettle your seat on the mount that your father trained you on.

John Arthur Johnson NEVER regained that glory, prominence, or INCOME that was afforded him from training “Vaginus Abstentia”. It’s a difficult diet to control once one has learned the “restaurant circuit”… But, it CAN be done. At this point in time… WILL BE.

Yet, we still await the reestablishment of [Panthera tigris corbetti].

There was a cry, and a sudden bunching.  People swerved, but with nowhere to go.  A front wheel was taken out, and to my left there was a domino effect as riders and bikes tumbled.  There was the sound of medal against asphalt, sliding at 40 km/h, and the dull thud of bodies hitting the road.

My final day in South Africa is one that I will remember.  Alex, my friend, has set himself a number of sporting challenges, including riding the Cape Argus in March.  It is the biggest mass participation cycling race / event worldwide.  Because of the sheer size of it, and its London Marathon-esque appeal, there are starting blocks.  If you are a ‘charity’ rider, riding only for this event, you start at the back.  To make your way forward you need to qualify to get a better start position.  By collecting points at other events, you can get a better start at the Argus.  For this reason, and owing to the very same system, here I was, stood with him in start block R at Die Burger Tour (it starts at A and goes through to U as far as I could tell) waiting to start our race at 6.58am.  On the day I fly home.

The event is, by comparison to the Cape Argus, relatively small, but is still rumoured to be the second largest one in South Africa.  With 3,350 entrants, I can well believe it.  Now, depending on your point of view, this was either the fourth of fifth Sportif which I have done on the road, or my first ever road race.  Alex and I had actually decided to race it.  We had set a target of three hours for the distance, and wanted to finish relatively fresh.  Being unable to do anything for the rest of the day is not a good idea when you still have to pack and make it to the airport.

On the start line, we eyed up the other people in our group.  With one or two exceptions, it was obvious that we didn’t belong this far back.  We chatted to another rider, on a very nice Cervelo, and established similar goals.  Once out of the neutralised start, Cervelo guy, Alex and myself lead our little group, together with some of the other faster riders and formed the train to chase down the pack in front, who started with the other groups.  It worked well, although there were a lot of people who were happy to sit on our wheels.  That makes them clever and us stupid though, doesn’t it?!  All the same, we reeled in rider after rider, with the pace barely dropping below 45km/h for the first 30km, or at least anywhere where we were able to force it that high.  The sheer number of riders made this difficult, and passing so many all the time, also kept us from riding the pace we wanted.  Concentration and alertness was the name of the game.  I don’t mind inexperienced riders in a group, but I try to keep myself on the outside or near the front when they are around.  Alex adopted this tactic too, but it was me who found myself trapped after about 25km with a very nervously responding pack around me.  I rode for about 1.5km trying to make my way into a better position, thinking that it was too tightly wound, and the spring would break any minute.  I kept looking around, trying to find the gap in the riders to move to the outside of the pack.  Slowly, but surely, I got myself into a good position.  The danger had passed.  I was safe….  I rode on for another km or so, and then it happened.  Suddenly I had to avoid rapidly decelerating bikes, and confusion in the pack.  The bike in front of me had their front wheel taken out.  The yell, as they went down.  I moved to avoid them as they slid across the road, making the minimal adjustment that I dared, so as not to take out anyone behind me.  Stay upright.  Avoid their limbs.  Ignore their cries.  Stay upright.  I could feel something on the inside of my arm.  The top of someone else’s brake hood.  Accelerate, separate.  Ride on.  We both survived.  I checked behind me, to see a scene like one of those mass crashes in the Tour de France.  There was no escape, no-one had anywhere to go, and were just piling into each other.

Alex was alongside me.

“You okay?  Didn’t think you’d have gone down, was it near you?”

“It was right there, I have a scratch, nothing more.  I hope they’re okay, where is Cervelo man?”

“Up ahead, spoke to him as soon as it happened, he was looking for you too”.

I stomped on the pedals up to Cervelo guy, and used my adrenalin rush to pull for a bit.

The rest of the ride was less eventful, thankfully, although on the first climb Alex found himself a pace guy and dropped me and we both dropped Cervelo guy.  Alex had to slow up later for me to get back on – not bad for a someone who has been riding for only four months!  In fairness, towards the end, his tiredness was showing, but his performance was outstanding for such a new rider.  For me, the main challenge was to try to spin out the two bottles that I had for the 97km.  With about 25km to go, I was dry, and had thrown my bottles to kids at the side of the course.  Alex however (who had larger bottles) still had one full one.  He donated it to the cause, and we shared it.  After a few mouthfuls, and a gel my energy reserves were reinvigorated.  At the next climb, Alex later told me, he looked up to see me about 40m away powering off.  I thought people were following, but they obviously weren’t, so I eased off, and waited for him to come back to me, and we continued to ride together.  We took it in turns with an older guy until on the final climb of the day, Alex dumped his chain.  He had to stop.  I slowed, soft pedalling, and waited for him.  Everyone passing encouraged me to keep going, not realising that I was waiting.   I felt a little bad when Alex was back on my wheel, and I turned catching his eye, and paced us past everyone who had just shown concern.  We got back to the older guy, and rode with him for a bit.  With 5km to go, Alex was fading, but it was downhill.  Rather than the normal finishing ‘eye balls out’ finish that I would normally do in a race, we rode together, crossing the line with the exact same time hands raised.

Our time.  3hr 3mins….. if only I hadn’t dithered on that climb, or Alex’s chain had not jumped off…..  Puts him in good standing for The Cape Argus though.   Quite tempted to go back to ride it myself!

Pour devenir un sportif de haut niveau, pour participer à des épreuves sportives, à des championnats, pour réaliser des performances sportives, pour devenir champion du monde, il faut avoir des qualités, dont :

-         L’endurance : la capacité à résister à la fatigue. Un match de tennis est parfois une vrai épreuve d’endurance. L’endurance des joueurs est mise à rude épreuve ;

-         La concentration : pouvoir se concentrer, ne pas se laisser distraire par le public ;

-         L’esprit d’équipe, fondamental dans les sports collectifs ;

-         Des bons réflexes, rapides, efficaces et précis ; savoir prendre de bonnes décisions très vite ;

-         Le goût de l’effort : aimer réaliser des prouesses (= des performances exceptionnelles), même si cela demande beaucoup de travail et d’énergie ;

-         La discipline : savoir s’imposer un travail dut et régulier ;

-         La volonté de gagner, l’ambition, l’esprit de compétition ;

-         Et bien sûr, l’énergie physique et la forme.

Départ de notre Téléthon romanais dans… 3 2 1, 0 !

La politique de formation des sportifs de haut niveau est en pleine réflexion dans notre pays. C’est un enjeu important, pas seulement pour les performances internationales, mais aussi pour mieux prendre en compte les questions de santé, d’équilibre psychologique et de reconversion des athlètes.

Jusqu’ici, c’était plutôt le saupoudrage des moyens qui prévalait : Michel Daerden avait promis la création de quatre centres de formation en Communauté française : Jambes, Mons, Liège et Bruxelles. Une ineptie vue les ressources disponibles et l’étroitesse de notre territoire.

Ecolo a toujours proposé au contraire de concentrer les moyens en un seul lieu. Et pourquoi ne pas d’abord envisager la création d’un centre unique pour toute la Belgique ? Une position défendue aussi par le monde sportif et que j’ai eu la chance de pouvoir défendre avec succès en lien avec Marcel Cheron durant les négociations de l’Olivier en juillet dernier.

Résultat ? Positif : l’accord prévoit que la Communauté française soutiendra, en concertation avec l’Etat fédéral, les entités fédérées et les fédérations sportives, la création d’un centre unique d’expertise et de formation pour les sportifs de haut niveau.

Pour concrétiser cet accord, le Ministre des Sports, André Antoine, a annoncé qu’il consulterait le Gouvernement fédéral sur cette question.

J’ai donc interrogé mardi dernier le Premier Ministre sur l’état d’avancement des contacts. On sait que la compétence des Sports est transférée aux Communautés. Néanmoins, le Gouvernement fédéral peut jouer un rôle de coordination des actions menées par les Communautés en matière de sport. Le COIB est demandeur d’une telle coopération renforcée entre les Communautés et l’Etat fédéral. Et les athlètes qui défendent nos couleurs dans les compétitions internationales transcendent bien souvent la frontière linguistique. Il en va ainsi en athlétisme des relais 4X100m dames ou 4X400 mètres messieurs, pour ne prendre que cet exemple.

Dans sa réponse (lire in extenso les débats ici, à partir du bas de la page 9 du docume nt pdf), le Premier Ministre s’est montré particulièrement ouvert à une concertation sur la question. Il se dit prêt à jouer un rôle de facilitateur entre les Communautés française et flamande. Une très bonne nouvelle qui devrait inciter André Antoine à avancer. Car Herman Van Rompuy a aussi constaté qu’il n’avait pas encore été sollicité par le Ministre des Sports. Le Ministre du Budget qu’il est également ne saisit-il donc pas l’urgence à tenter de trouver une solution concertée et soucieuse d’une bonne utilisation des deniers publics ?

Beberapa hari ini, film yang dilihat azmi hanyalah GDD, Garuda Di Dadaku. Ia begitu senang dan antusias menirukan ekspresi setiap pemainnya, terutama Bayu sang pemain bola berbakat. Film ini begitu baik disajikan lengkap dengan konflik yang sangat realistis dan mudah dipahami oleh anak-anak. Semangat nasionalisme juga sangat kental mewarnai film GDD ini, sehingga bisa menjadi inspirasi bagi anak-anak Indonesia untuk mencintai bangsa dan negaranya terutama di tengah derasnya arus globalisasi yang bisa melunturkan rasa nasionalisme anak-anak.

Seringnya menonton film itu, membuat Azmi terobsesi ingin menjadi pemain bola. Wah, saya jadi ingat Eyangnya yang memang dulu seorang pemain sepakbola. Bagi saya dan suami, semangat itu sayang jika dilewatkan begitu saja. Seorang anak yang menyukai olah raga akan terbangun jiwa sportif dan memiliki motivasi berprestasi yang tinggi. Hal ini sangatlah penting untuk perkembangan mentalnya kelak. Dua hal tersebut juga dapat membantunya berhasil di bidang apapun, baik akademik maupun non akademik. Sebagai orang tua kami hanya berusaha memahami keinginannya, memberi dukungan dan membantu mewujudkan impiannya.

“Aneh orang-orang itu, bola satu dikejar dua puluh dua orang, begitu didapat eh…malah ditendang”

Begitu kata beberapa orang yang tak mengerti mengapa begitu banyak orang menyenangi bermain bola, rela begadang sampai subuh hanya buat melihat tim kesayangannya bermain, tak punya duit tapi berani jauh-jauh datang ke stadion untuk mendukung timnya, juga ada yang sampai sehari semalam mengahbiskan waktunya hanya untuk bermain Game Bola. Apa sebenarnya yang menarik dari sepakbola sehingga pemainnya bisa dibayar mahal, kaosnya diburu, bahkan tiket pertandingannya sudah diborong untuk satu tahun oleh beberapa orang?.

Saya penggemar bola, senang bermain bola, suka nonton bola, senang koleksi baju bola meskipun ada yang palsu, menempel poster banyak pemain kesukaan di dinding asrama ketika masih mahasiswa, tidur berselimut Manchester United, mandi pakai handuk dengan motif klub kesayangan, jalan-jalan ke mall dengan kaos bola, dan ngobrol soal bola.

Saya menyenangi bola sejak kecil. Ketika masih dikampung, pertandingan bola selalu jadi hal yang menarik, mungkin karena itulah tontonan satu-satunya. Pemain kampung yang jago dribel dan mencetak gol, menjadi idola anak-anak waktu itu. Jadilah saya menjadikan waktu sore sepulang sekolah untuk bermain bola, ternyata menyenangkan menendang bola, menggiring bola, mengoper, menembak dan gol. Selebrasi pemain top dunia macam Bebeto yang menggendong bayi jadi sebuah contoh untuk merayakan gol. Kalau saya ditanya waktu itu kenapa suka main bola, maka saya jawab karena itu adalah permainan, jadi intinya untuk bergembira untuk bersenang-senang.

Ketika beranjak kuliah, di kampus ada begitu banyak lapangan bola tersebar disekitar kampus. Kalo dihitung-hitung bisa sekitar 15 buah, hampir setiap fakultas punya lapangan, bahkan mahasiswa pondokan mengklaim lapangan juga disekitar kampus. Permainan saya tak menanjak membaik ketika umur telah bertambah, yang main bola makin banyak yang pintar, tapi saya tetap menyukai main bola, dan saya menemukan sebuah alasan lain kenapa main bola itu begitu berguna. Ketika saya mendapat bola, seorang kawan yang tak kenal memanggil ” Merah, oper sini”, dia memanggil saya berdasarkan baju, seminggu kemudian ketika saya ingin melempar bola dia memanggil “Mad, lempar sini”. Saya tak pernah berkenalan secara langsung dengan memperkenalkan namanya padanya, tapi karena kami sering main sama-sama maka otomatis dia akan berusaha untuk mengetahui nama saya, begitu pula sebaliknya. Jadi alasan yang saya temukan adalah bermain bolalah agar banyak teman.

Prinsip itu saya terapkan ketika pertama masuk kerja di tahun 2004. Ketika saya sudah berkenalan dengan karyawan lama, saya menanyakan kapan jadwal main bola. Begitu jadwal tiba, saya ikut nimbrung main bola, dalam dua minggu sebagian besar karyawan sudah mengenal saya. Efektif dan efisien.

Hal lain yang saya pelajari dari bermain bola adalah sifat egaliter. Di  lapangan semua adalah pemain bola, tak peduli dia Guru, Tentara, Bos, Manager, OB, Tukang Becak semua setara posisinya kalo main bola. Tak pernah saya lihat orang bermain bola satu orang Manajer dianggap sama dengan 2 orang OB, sehingga ketika harus bermain jumlah pemain bisa timpang. Semua dianggap sama. Worker ditempat kerja saya yang lama, dengan seenaknya mengomel ketika tak dioper oleh Sang Manager yang juga Bosnya, dan dengan “kurang ajarnya” menekel Direktur yang sedang membawa bola. Jika itu terjadi dioffice, bisa dianggap sebagai pelanggaran tingkat III, tidak menuruti kehendak atasan. Tapi ini dilapangan bola, aturannya ada sendiri.

Ada yang suka main bola, tapi ada juga yang lebih suka menonton bola. Ketika diajak main bola selalu menolak, tapi kalau ditanya tentang hasil pertandingan dan detail bagaimana Messi mempecundangi Van Der Saar dalam perebutan Juara Champion tahun lalu, dengan penuh semangat dia bisa menjelaskannya, bagaimana proses gol itu tercipta, hasil lengkap dengan analisa statistik, analisa teknis, ada berapa jumlah offside, jumlah penonton, kecepatan angin, nama stadion, siapa nama wasitnya, bahkan nama hakim garis dan anak gawangnya (ahh lebay banget yah).

Ada juga yang lebih suka main PS Winning Eleven. Sebuah turunan dari permainan bola yang tak pernah bisa saya kuasai. Saya selalu kalah dalam soal ini, dan karena itu saya tak tega melihat diri saya terus menerus tersiksa oleh kekalahan sehingga memutuskan cabang olahraga ini tak saya mainkan, disamping memang bermain game ini telah menghilangkan daya tarik dari main bola yaitu interaksi antar pemain, masa’ mau ngobrol dengan pemain di TV.

Nah, saatnya main bola yuk..

Cedrus, la mascotte des jeux de la francophonie

Beyrouth carrefour des cultures, Beyrouth capitale mondiale du livre et dernièrement Beyrouth hôte des VIème jeux de la francophonie ! Cet événement est une manifestation festive et populaire à haut niveau sportif et artistique.

Christina Aouad, une jeune libanaise, qui continue ses études en économie à l’USJ, a eu la chance de participer à cette VIème édition des jeux de la francophonie. En tant que bénévole, elle était responsable des juniors (sportifs, athlètes…). Plusieurs facettes intéressantes de son expérience nous ont conduit à l’interviewer.

Les préparatifs pour cet événement ont débuté une année auparavant. Les bénévoles ont suivi des formations continues, ont effectué des visites sur les sites sportifs et dans le village francp[hone pour pouvoir assurer une présence efficace. « Une expérience inoubliable et rare », c’est avec ces mots que Christina nous décrit son vécu. En effet, le sentiment de participer à un événement important regroupant tous les 4 ans près de 3000 jeunes sportifs et artistes issus de 56 États différents est unique. Le travail sur le terrain s’étendait sur deux semaines sans repos et c’était un rythme fatigant malgré la bonne humeur qui régnait. De plus, l’une des facettes les plus importantes des jeux de la francophonie est certes le mariage entre différentes cultures et nations. « Ce qu’on pouvait remarquer, affirme Christina, c’était leur interaction et leur harmonie. Les participants, qu’ils soient athlètes ou artistes, désiraient connaître nos traditions, nos mœurs et coutumes.» De même, ils n’étaient pas avares de mots ni de gestes : les Africains ne perdaient pas une occasion pour danser et exprimer leur joie, les Canadiens jouaient de la guitare … Il est à noter que plusieurs personnes avaient des préjugés à propos de la vie au Liban, mais les jours passés dans notre pays, à visiter des lieux touristiques, à côtoyer les citoyens, leur a permis de changer leur point de vue. Des sites connus étaient très demandés tels la grotte de Jeita, Baalbek, Saida et Jbeil, surtout la côte libanaise et la mer. L’autre visage du Liban était aussi apprécié, celui de la vie nocturne, des bars et des boîtes de nuit à Gemmayzeh et au centre ville. Par contre, Christina a relevé quelques points négatifs comme le peu de participation du public libanais surtout dans les activités liées au sport, au football spécialement, et insiste sur le manque d’organisation dans des détails précis. Enfin, elle nous a fait part de son enthousiasme et de sa disponibilité pour les VIIème jeux de la francophonie qui pourraient avoir lieu en France dans quatre ans. Elle invite chacun de nous à vivre cette expérience … à ne pas rater !

Mancing Galatama

SEJARAH GALATAMA

 

 

Pada awalnya kegiatan pemancingan diperuntukkan bagi para pemancing, dimanasetelah selesai kegiatan, pemancing dapat membawa pulang ikan pancingannya. Setelah sekian lama berjalan, terjadi kebosanan di kalangan pemancing, kemudian mereka berembug dan akhirnya disepakati bahwa berat ikan yang dibawa pulang maksimal adalah 10 kg. Pada tahun 1985, terjadi lagi perkembangan baru dimana pemancing tidak lagi membawa pulang ikan hasil pancingannya tetapi mereka memperoleh hadiah dari lomba memancing dengan konsep awal 15% untuk pemeliharaan ikan bagi pengelola sedangkan 85% dipergunakan untuk hadiah. Karena pada saat itu sedang marak diadakan liga galatama sepakbola, maka mulai saat itu kegiatan pemancingan dimana pemancing tidak membawa ikan hasil pancingannya dikenal dengan sistem pertandingan galatama.

ATURAN MAIN GALATAMA

 Telaga Cibubur menerapkan suatu sistim pertandingan yang sportif dan transparan sebagai berikut: 

1. Penempatan pemancing pada lapak-lapak dilakukan berdasarkan undian terbuka. 
2. Para juara adalah pemancing yang mendapatkan ikat terberat yang penimbangannya dilakukan secara terbuka dan dapat disaksikan oleh seluruh peserta melalui display.

Selain itu sesuai dengan konsep Galatama, maka para pemancing harus menjalankan aturan ”mancing dasar” dalam arti mendapatkan ikan di dasar kolam bukan di permukaan. The most famous Reginald was, indeed, a chivalrous knight of old.

Also recorded as Raynald, Reynaud, Renaud, Reynold and Renald, Reginald of Chastillon lived in the 1100s.  Part of the Second Crusade to the Holy Land, Reginald managed to rule briefly as Prince of Antioch and later as Lord of Oultrejordain.  Both of his titles were held through marriage – the first to Constance of Antioch, the second to Etienette of Milly.  By all accounts, Reginald was quite the adventurer – leading to seventeen years in a Turkish prison.

While Reginald was no John or William, plenty of men wore the name in Norman England.  Germanic in origin, he comes from the elements ragin – advice and wald – ruler.  The Normans brought French variants with them; Old Norse versions like Rognavaldr were already in use.

The same elements also led to Ronald.   In the 1950s and 60s, twin brothers Reginald and Ronald Kray hobknobbed with Sinatra in their London nightclubs.  Behind the scenes, they were criminal masterminds who eventually ended their days in prison.

There’s also the tenth century Saint Reinold – again, spellings abound, and he was Latinized as Reginaldus.  He may’ve been descended from Charlemagne himself – at least that’s what translator and publisher William Caxton suggested in the fifteenth century.

Some of the most notable Reginalds are best known by another name:

• PG Wodehouse’s fictional manservant Jeeves rarely answered to his first name;
• On HBO’s The Wire, Reginald is the real name of drug addict Bubbles;
• Elton John was born Reginald Dwight;
• Rapper Redman was born Reginald Noble.

Reginald has a decidedly athletic tone, thanks to the legions of NFL, NBA and MLB players who have answered to Reggie.

There’s Mr. October – baseball hall-of-famer Reggie Jackson.  With the Oakland A’s, he helped win three World Series before joining the New York Yankees to score two more.  And let’s not forget the Minister of Defense, NFL hall-of-famer Reggie White, celebrated defensive end and an ordained minister.

Despite Reginald’s medieval vibe, he actually peaked in 1968, well before White and Jackson achieved renown.  It’s tough to find an explanation for why Reginald reached #118 that year, but call him a classic anyhow – Reginald has appeared in the US Top 1000 since 1880.

Today he stands at #557, possibly maintaining his place in part thanks to all those proud papas eager to hand down their name.  And therein lies Reginald’s problem.  Instead of a daring rediscovery a la Orlando, Reginald feels a little bit like naming your kiddo Jeffrey or Scott.  Nothing wrong with the name.  But you’ve probably met a Reg, and he’s probably thirty, forty or more.

But if you’re a decade or more away from christening your firstborn?  Reginald could be just the classic to keep in mind.
