Riveting, challenging and emotional — that’s sports. On a more basic level, it’s how we burn off extra energy and kill extra time. But there’s also a huge psychological component to competition: It’s fun to revel in a little pride at being the best (or at least not the very worst) increasing our self-esteem. Attending massive sporting events and rooting for our favorite team brings us together, and watching amazing athletes show off their skills inspires us in a way few other things on earth can.

Cowboys Miami Dolphins Drama Off The Field
100.3 Jack FM - Dallas Radio

Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland apparently asked if Dez Bryant’s Mom was a prostitute.  Will there be a fight at recess? Dallas Cowboys will play the Miami Dolphins tonight at Cowboys Stadium. The bigger scene might happen OFF the field though because Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland wants to talk to Dez Bryant about a comment he made to him before the draft. Ireland, for some stupid reason, asked Bryant if his Mom was a prostitute. Bryant told The Dallas Morning News if he see’s Ireland on the field, he’d likely shake his hand. Maybe no hard feeling after all….but you never know. [pullquote quote="Bryant said. We're going to move on. I don't even really want to speak on it any more. I feel fine, things are great." credit="DallasNews.com"] Dez is not actually playing tonight, but sounds like he’ll get a great deal of press regardless. Anyhow, if you want to go to the Cowboys last pre-season game, you can get the tickets at www.dallascowboys.com. Texas Rangers beat The Kansas C

Pakistan Cricket Vs Match Fixing
Itsourteamwork : More 'WE' Less 'I'

Pakistan Cricket and Match fixing are like close friends. They can’t live without each other. Whenever there is news about match fixing, definitely it involves a Pakistani cricketer and the bookie from either India/Pakistan. Whom to blame? The cricketer who is getting into match fixing? The PCB who not taking any strong actions against cricketers who are involved in the fixing? Or the ICC how is not supervising properly. Whenever there is a match fixing allegation and a Pakistani cricketer is found guilty, the PCB will impose penalty or ban on the cricketer for few month/years. Surprisingly, the same PCB will revoke the suspension on the cricketer. This happened many times, and it will continue… God Save Cricket

Fifa sinks England's Arteta plan
Saaz World

The latest development in the Arteta saga suggests that Capello has endured the controversy that surrounded his informal approach to the player last month for nothing. Although the situation was “hypothetical” because the FA had made no move yet to naturalise Arteta, a Fifa source told The Independent last night that based “on the information we think we know it would appear unlikely he could play for England”. The problem relates to article 18 o

Stephen Hawking Says Something From Nothing Is Possible Because...
Innocent Bystanders

He says so! Well, that settles that. The scientist has claimed that no divine force was needed to explain why the Universe was formed. In his latest book, The Grand Design, an extract of which is published in Eureka magazine in The Times, Hawking said: “Because there is a law such as gravity, the Universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the Universe exists, why we exist.”

A's Braden Returns To Face Bronx Boo-Birds
CBS New York- News, Sports, Weather, Traffic and the Best of NY

NEW YORK (AP) — Before Dallas Braden pitched a perfect game, he gained notoriety for a memorable feud with Alex Rodriguez. Braden will face the New York Yankees for the first time since that incident – although he won’t face Rodriguez – when the Oakland Athletics try to avoid a four-game sweep Thursday and prevent CC Sabathia from becoming the majors’ first 19-game winner. New York (83-50) took two of three at Oakland (65-67) from April 20-22, but Braden’s spat with Rodriguez in a 4-2 win for the Athletics in the finale was the story. Rodriguez jogged across the mound, resulting in an outburst from the Oakland starter. “I was just trying to convey to him that I was still out there, that ball’s in my hand and that’s my pitcher’s mound,” Braden said at the time. “If he wants to run across the pitcher’s mound. Tell him to go do laps in the bullpen.” Rodriguez was taken aback by the reaction from Braden (9-

Big 8 - 2 + 4: The 2010 Saturday Football prognostications
There you have it....

It’s Saturday Football time and here we go with the annual Pig 12 pigskin forecast. I’m sure at least two of my faithful will weigh in on this – I hope a few more will as well. Prediction highlight summary: Texas falls to the 3rd best pro team in the State this year but exercise their new right to television broadcast their commercialism across the football nation. Jerry Jones becomes a huge UT fan as he sees yet another opportunity to make a few extra bucks – maybe Jerry will invite the Longhorns to play in the Super Bowl come February. Oklahoma buys all the car dealerships in the city and illegally hires student-athletes to drive their inventory to Waco causing a huge traffic jam on just one Saturday in October. There QB is then well protected for a change by the O-line, at least for 1 game. Oklahoma State puts up solar-powered stadium lights for their night games and T. Boone decides he would rather have a guy from Idaho lead his collegiate hobby 3-ring circu

The Importance of Customer Service to Your Public Image
PR That Works!

Providing good and effective customer service is one of the linchpins of positive public relations for your business. That is especially true when it comes to professional sporting events. No matter how much they love your team, your fans won’t come back if their gameday customer experience isn’t up to par, and your public image will suffer. With that in mind, please enjoy the below article by MTOE client Ed Gagnon, President of Customer Service Solutions. Gameday: Turning a Single-Ticket Purchase Into a Season Ticket Holder by Ed Gagnon It’s understandable that many sports franchises idolize the Green Bay Packers’ situation. After all, every game the Packers play is sold out, regardless of team record, local or national economy, or their opponent. The list for season tickets is 74,000 names long, with an average wait time of 35 years for eligibility. If you put your name on that list today, right now, at the very second you finish reading this article, you’d be waiting mor

Most traditional rivalries live on in new Big Ten
WBBM Newsradio 780

(AP) — The Big Ten’s athletic directors got together on what was truly a conference call on Wednesday. The first thing Ohio State’s Gene Smith did was open some accompanying e-mails that listed proposed Buckeyes football schedules for 2011 and 2012. “I went straight to the end,” Smith said, “and I was jacked.” There, in its customary spot at the very bottom of Ohio State’s regular-season schedule, was archrival Michigan. After weeks of speculation and debate, the Big Ten announced on Wednesday night the new divisions that take effect when Nebraska joins the party in the new 12-team conference in 2011. Fans had been up in arms about the possibility that one of sports’ biggest rivalries – Michigan vs. Ohio State, blue vs. scarlet, Bo vs. Woody – might somehow lose out to competitive balance in the conference’s new divisional setup. But what is called “The Game” in the two states was among several red-lett

"Fordson" Movie
Traditional Rebel

“Fordson” is a feature length documentary film that follows four talented high school football players from Dearborn Michigan as they gear up for their big senior year rivalry game during the last ten days of Ramadan, a month when Muslims traditionally fast every day from sunrise to sundown. The story is set against the backdrop of the stunningly beautiful Fordson High School, a public high school built by Henry Ford in 1922, which was once all white, but now boasts a 98% Arab population. As our team readies itself to play its affluent, cross town rival, we unearth the adversity faced by a community that is desperately holding onto its Islamic faith and trying to gain acceptance from their fellow U.S. citizens in post 9-11 America. Through the eyes of the team, their coaches, and their fans, we get an unprecedented glimpse inside the lives of a community that is home to the largest concentration of Arabs in any city outside of the Middle East, and their determination to hol
