Springtime on the Outer Banks Photo Workshop

April 21-25, 2010

Barefoot Contessa is putting on a photography workshop on the wild and pristine North Carolina barrier islands. By popular demand, they have added a springtime Outer Banks workshop. The workshop will highlight special gems along the untamed Outer Banks coastline.

The sunrises and sunsets can be spectacular, the patterns along the seashore and in the marshes inspirational, and the sights and sounds of the wild Atlantic pounding the coast intoxicating. You’ll love photographing here, and you’ll be able to celebrate your passion for photography, hone your seeing and imaging skills, and learn about the magic of light to make wonderful photographs.

The workshop will be based in Nags Head, near the site of the first flight by the Wright Brothers. It is an area rich in history, so there is no lack of subject matter.

Springtime here is quite different from the fall. The Outer Banks are almost deserted; the winter winds have tossed the dunes around into new formations; and the coast looks particularly wild and dramatic.

The workshop includes: 

• Maximum 6-to-1 ratio students to instructors
• Opening wine-and-pizza reception;
• Primer booklet to help you get started;
• Early-morning and late-afternoon shoots;
• Mid-day downloading of your images and processing with the latest version of Lightroom;
• Lots of individual instruction in both the field and classroom;
• Critiques, both individual and group;
• Discussions on various aspects of photography, including digital workflow;
• Final group critique and show on last day (what many feel is the highlight of the workshop experience); and
• Lots of fun and frivolity throughout!

You will also receive written instructions on the ins and outs of successfully and easily turning your favorite digital images into beautiful prints straight out of the latest version of Lightroom using your own printer.

Nu ska jag klä på mig och sen ska jag till Springtime, det är en PRbyrå pappa. Och där jobbar Robert och Karim och Lisa, de är värsta fenorna på PR och alla tre kan nog klassas som världens gladaste människor. Och av den enkla anledning tror jag nog att jag aldrig skulle kunna få jobb på Springtime, man måste ju vara så glad.

Innan Springtime ska Hedvig o jag försöka se Paranormal Activity. Det verkar döläskig och jag kommer säker sitta uppe hela natten eller eventuellt kissa på mig.

På tal om kissa på mig så kom jag i tänka på när Evelina var här, hon och Emelie och jag åt sushi och pratade bajs, det är ju få man kan göra det med menar jag, men vi kan det i alla fall, men tyvärr tror jag inte att någon annan på restaurangen tyckte att det var så roligt.

I’ve been on RedBubble.com now for less than a year and it’s an awesome site.  It’s free, it’s friendly and it’s easy to use.  They are constantly trying to make using their site to showcase and sell your work, easier all the time.   The card I bought thru them was soooooo thick and nice.  What wonderful quality.   There are over 1700 groups you can add you photographs, artwork, writing and tee-shirts.  Yeah did I mention that you can make and design tee-shirts to sell on RedBubble?  If you are a writer, they have tons of groups for all kinds of your thoughts, poems, short stories.  And the fellow artists are wonderfully responsive to newbies, oldies and everyone in between.  Give them a look and tell me what you think, or better yet go visit and leave me a comment.  (Everyone loves comments).  The  group  called New Mexico has just added three of my photos on the feature page (for that group) at one time.

Uni is over for the year… One of the highlights on the Library Lawn was this Oompah Band serenading the lunch-time loungers. Bzz!

With Jaz over at Glooart talking about the best things about Autumn, I thought I would join in the nature love fest and share some springtime love. When we first arrived in New Zealand it was the dead of winter, it was cold.. REALLY cold, and we pretty much set ourselves up for a couple of months of hibernation.. our town, which is very small and very quiet at the best of times, spends winter as a ghost town with all the holiday houses empty and locked up until summer (oh the hard life of having a summer home!). This weekend is the first long weekend of the warmer months and you can really see our little village starting to come alive, speedboats dragging squealing children in rubber tires, kayaks floating across the lake, children walking dogs and adults walking children.. it really gets me excited for the holiday season.

Anyway, as spring blooms around us, it brings warmer weather – oh the joys of sitting outside in the sun! – and with the sun comes glorious flowers.. life abounds!! And here are some photos to prove it!
