ini ada sebuah tugas akhir teman saya yg bernama Rianggara Afangga atau lihat blognya d http://afangga.blogspot.com/

ini ada tampilan web yg d kaih teman saya.

mungkin saya tidak dapat memperbaiki dengan sempurnah, tapi saya mencoba untuk membuat webnya lebih baik. karena dengan berbagai kekurangan yang ada, semoga tugas akhir teman saya ini sukses. mungkin ada perubahan yg saya lakukan antara lain, database denga chart yg tidak sesuai apa yg d inputkan. dan ada beberapa yg d hilangkan yg menurut saya yg mubazir saja, contoh file config yg d bikin 2 buah,menurut saya sih cuma butuh 1 saja bisa. dan halam index dan beberapa modif d folder, karena file proses nilai  yg d lakukan terletak d luar, sebaiknya dbuatkan folder 1 buah yg d protek. kalau terletak d luar bisa d akses oleh org lain, karen ini saat bahaya untuk ujian online.

mungkin saya usahakan pake css untuk mengatur tampilan atau pake javascritp untuk bagian yg perlu. contoh java scritp yg d gunakan protek klik kanan, dan ada yg sangat fatal menurut saya yaitu hapir sama dengan tragedi KPU 2005 yaitu SQL injection atau blind PHP. karena d sini hal tersebut bisa d lakukan. dan berbagai hal yg d anggap penting. tapi ingat d sini saya bukan yg pro tapi berusah lebih baik, mungkin setalh melakukan modifikasi mungkina da beberapa bug yg tterbuka. karena pikaran yg begitu sempit ruang lingkupnya. thanks for you cokjohon yg telah mempercayai saya untuk melakuakn modifnya. dan ini akan menambah pengetahuan saya tentang web dan security web.

In an effort to consolidate reporting on our web apps, we normally create a central report setup page that allows a user to select a report and various combinations of filters based on the data in the database. Internally, our best known approach has been to generate a SQL string in the VB behind our ASP.NET pages and send the string in as a hard-coded “Select…” statement via the SQL connection. We’ve always had a feeling, however, that this isn’t the “best” approach, especially when considering how labor intensive it might be to edit code that could be much longer than something like:

dim str as new StringBuilder("")

str.Append("Select col1, col2, col3 From Table1 as t1")

Time constraints have prevented us from researching better approaches, but we have always hoped to find a way of using stored procedures, passing in where clauses as parameters when necessary.

Today I stumbled on a better approach while browsing through the questions on StackOverflow.

Caution should be taken when using either of these approaches, especially if the report setup filters include text box entries–your database could be opened up to injection attacks.

I’ll append to this blog as newer methods are discovered.

Para restringir y filtrar una consulta utilizamos la clausula “where”, en el siguiente caso como ejemplo comparando con un string:

ejemplo: consultar por personas que se llamen Hugo

select nombre
from personas
where nombre = 'hugo'

Condiciones de comparación

ejemplo: consultar por personas que su edad sea mayor a 23 años

select nombre, edad
from personas
where edad > 23

Otras condiciones de comparación

• BETWEEN … AND …

Busca los datos que se encuentren entre ambos valores, puede ser numérico o string

• NOT BETWEEN … AND …

Busca los valores que no se encuentren dentro de este rango

ejemplo: consultar por personas que tengan edad entre 23 y 30 años

select nombre, edad
from personas
where edad between 23 and 30

• IN

Algo parecido al between pero la gran diferencia es que aquí no hay rango, sino declaras los valores para realizar la busqueda

• NOT IN

Busca todos los valores que sean diferentes a los que declaras

ejemplo: consultar por personas que su edad sea 23, 25 o 30

select nombre, edad
from personas
where edad in(23, 25, 30)

• LIKE

Busca los datos que solo tengan el valor que declaras, puedes consultar tanto por la palabra completa como por parte de ella, para hacer esto agregas un signo dependiendo de los números de caracteres a reemplazar:

ejemplo: consultar por personas que su nombre comience con “lu”

select nombre
from personas
where nombre like 'lu%'

esto te devolvería los valores como por ejemplo luis, lucho, luciano, eso dependiendo de los valores que tengas almacenados en tu tabla

• IS NULL

Devuelve valores que son nulos

• IS NOT NULL

Devuelve valores que no son nulos

ejemplo: consultar por personas que tengan teléfono

select nombre, telefono
from personas
where telefono is not null

Condiciones lógicas

ejemplo: consultar por personas que tengan 23 y 30 años de edad

select nombre
from personas
where edad=23 and edad=30

Clausula de orden de columnas

• ORDER BY

Ordena el resultado de la consulta, puede ser numérico o string

asc asendente, por defecto si no agregas alguna de estas etiquetas

desc descendente

ejemplo: personas ordenadas alfabéticamente

select nombre
from personas
order by nombre asc

ejemplo2: personas ordenadas según alias

select nombre as 'nombre_personas'
from personas
order by nombre_personas

Several times I had to correct database tables with a character primary key (which is ok, if not all other tables had numeric …). In order to get the necessary numeric format I inserted another variable with the correct format and transformed the character variable to numeric using the CDbl() Function.

The syntax for the CDbl function is:
CDbl( expression )

I did forget it again and could not find any documentation. Googling the topic gave a lot of fruitless hits, so here it is.

Gerade gesehen, dass es in Derby 10.5 auch ein Limit-Äquivalent geben soll (mehr dazu hier).

Im Beispiel:

Ein “richtiges” Limit wird es nicht geben, da es (noch?) nicht Teil des SQL-Standards ist.

Yesterday, I came across a very interesting question on one of the SQL Servers Online Forums.

Question – What is the code name of SQL Server 2005?

Well I knew that the Microsoft gives code names to it products when they are in developmental stages. But I never came across the code name for SQL Serves!

So I did some research on Net to find code name of all the SQL Server Release till date. They are listed below.

Today we will go over a very simple, but interesting subject. The following error is quite common if you use ORDER BY while creating any view:

Msg 1033, Level 15, State 1, Procedure something, Line 5
The ORDER BY clause is invalid in views, inline functions, derived tables, subqueries, and common table expressions, unless TOP or FOR XML is also specified.

The error also explains the solution for the same – use of TOP. I have seen developers and DBAs using TOP very causally when they have to use the ORDER BY clause. Theoretically, there is no need of ORDER BY in the view at all. All the ordering should be done outside the view and view should just have the SELECT statement in it.

It was quite common that to save this extra typing by including ordering inside of the view. At several instances developers want a complete resultset and for the same they include TOP 100 PERCENT along with ORDER BY, assuming that this will simulate the SELECT statement with ORDER BY.

In SQL Server 2008, this behavior is corrected by ignoring the ORDER BY clause when TOP 100% is used. Let us see a quick script for the same.

Let us see the result of above script here. It is quite clear from the result that in the view, ORDER BY clause is ignored and result is returned as similar as that of a regular SELECT statement without ORDER BY.

Note that SQL Server 2008 view with ORDER BY clause does not throw an error; moreover, it does not acknowledge the presence of it as well.

To be able to access the SQL Azure instance you need to get the Management Studio. The new installer is really a pain and have taking me some hours to find out how to install using it the new improved installer.

The installation does not look as it have been doing before, you now get a whole lot of options, documentation, missing information and the lack of the management studio install option…

What can you expect when you download a file called “SQLManagementStudio_x86_ENU?
 - Dont expect a SQL Manangement Studio installation 

It is for our “convenience” located under the “New SQL server…” install option

The installation design doesn’t make any sense to me but the problem is solved… thanks for the new really confusing installation experience Microsoft!

Download the Management Studio tools here (there are a few different installation packs on the ms site, but this one seems to work if you want the management studio.

After running it, go to installation and press “New SQL Server stand-alone…” even if you like me already have an instance.

I doubt that the experience is this bad if you do it from scratch, but doing it with a old SQL 2005 Management Studio Express installation is not possible. Also I think my named instance confused things. I do usually not install named instances on my local machine, but somehow I got this one, probably from the Visual Studio installation

When you try to divide an integer (or float etc.) by a zero value in SQL it throws a Divide by zero error.

This example illustrates the error:

declare @intA as int
declare @intB as int

set @intA = 50
set @intb = 0

Select @intA / @intB

Message:

Msg 8134, Level 16, State 1, Line 7
Divide by zero error encountered.

The NULLIF statement can be used here to avoid the devide by zero error and return a null value instead.

declare @intA as int
declare @intB as int

set @intA = 50
set @intb = 0

Select @intA / nullif(@intB, 0)

In SQL Server, whenever we create any key, a Primary Key automatically creates clustered index on the same. I like this feature and I use this feature every now and then.

The question is does the change of any column as Primary Key should also create a Clustered Index? Moreover, is there any case, where one would not do the same?

One of the recent conversations I had with one SQL Expert is with regard to the SSN number. The discussion was that SSN numbers are always unique and never repeated and hence are the best candidates for primary key. Additionally SSN numbers contains dashes (-), which make the datatype of the SSN numbers as String (VARCHAR or NVARCHAR). A clustered index on an integer usually performs better over a clustered index on an integer and makes the DBA to choose Primary Key of datatype Integer. At one point in our conversation, we discussed that if SSN number should be a Unique Constraint and if there should be another Identity Column as the Primary Key.

Some of the questions from our interesting discussion are as follows:

Would you have the datatype of your Primary Key as string?
Would you treat SSN as string datatype or remove the dashes and change it into an integer?
Do you have a real life example, where your primary key is not a clustered index?
What are the best practices for SSN number to store in database and obtain optimal performance?

I will post an interesting answer discussing this subject in a separate post with due credit.
