Die Aufgabe bestand darin, die Bodenrichtwerte einer oder mehrerer Gemeinden in Rheinland-Pfalz zu recherchieren und mittels Google Earth grafisch darzustellen. Das Land Rheinland-Pfalz bietet hierzu einen Onlinedienst an, mit dem man die Bodenrichtwerte in den einzelnen Gemeinden abrufen kann. Für die Aufgabe sollten mindestens 30 Werte mit räumlichem Bezug zueinander erarbeitet werden. Das untenstehende Bild zeigt einen Ausschnitt aus BORIS.

Wir haben uns für die Gemeinden Kirchheimbolanden, Bolanden, Haide und Bischheim entschieden.

Der nächste Schritt bestand nun darin, die Bodenpreise aus BORIS in Google Earth zu übertragen. Dazu wurden an den enstprechenden Stellen Polygone gezeichnet, die später noch eingefärbt und mit verschiedenen Höhen versehen wurden. 

Doch vorher wurden die Bodenrichtwerte noch statistisch ausgewertertet. Dies geschah in Form einer sogenannten Urliste, eines Blatt/Stengel Diagramms sowie eines Säulendiagramms.

Nachdem die Daten statistisch aufbereitet wurden, legten wir die Farben sowie die Höhen der einzelnen Polygone fest und begannen anschließend mit der Visualisierung. Das fertige Ergebnis sah dann so aus:

Zum Abschluss werteten wir das Ergebnis nochmals in Textform aus und packten das ganze in eine Präsentation.

Frozen Symphony, an eye-catching installation by Aishleen Lester, is on display this month at Selfridges.  The installation is hosted in The Wonder Windows, the space that since the beginning of the year has been dedicated to showing the work of up-and-coming artists who, in the words of the store’s creative concept manager Rebecca Bateman, “otherwise may not have been able to find such a high-profile space”.

From her biography: Aishleen Lester uses the language of mechanical objects combined with delicate subterranean forms – skins or ‘husks’ made of fabric and resin – in her sculptural installations. Like an unconscious visual or sensual memory, the sculptures offer themselves as vehicles to a fragile transitional space, where the rational and irrational collide, allowing elemental parts to take on a role beyond their commonplace function. The forms used in her installations appear familiar but displaced, existing in negative and positive. They are both slow mo & motionless as they adapt to their surroundings like true ‘relational’ beings, negotiating both floor and ceiling, volumic space and an ambiguous terrestrial depth. Their familiarity of form makes it possible to imagine how they these forms interacted and once moved. Are they the inner or the outer of something? Conceived to float above or below the water-line? Appearing or disappearing ?

James literally bought this XBOX 360 Arcade console for the latest and greatest Grand Theft Auto release. He also bought Grand Theft Auto seperately. Die 3. Übung zur Vorlesung GIS-Grundlagen beschäftigt sich mit der Naturräumlichen Gliederung in Rheinland-Pfalz. Diese sollte mithilfe des Programms Quantum-GIS visualisiert werden. Dazu wurde vom Lehrstuhl das notwendige Kartenmaterial zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Aufgabe bestand nun darin, die naturräumliche Gliederung möglichst übersichtlich darzustellen. Mein Endergebnis sieht dann so aus: 

Bei der Erstellung der Karte ging ich folgendermaßen vor : Zunächst importierte ich die nötigen Kartengrundlagen in Form der TK 100, der Naturräume in RLP und der Naturschutzgebiete in RLP. Der nächste Schritt bestand darin, die Darstellung der einzelnen Ebenen anzupassen. Das untenstehende Bild zeigt den Ebenenbaum:

Da sich die Ebenen überlagern, wurde für alle Ebenen außer der TK100 und der Naturschutzgebiete eine abgestufte Transparenz eingestellt, von 70% bei den Haupteinheitengruppen bis zu 50% bei den Untereinheiten. Zusätzlich wurde die Sichtbarkeit der Ebenen der naturräumlichen Gliederung abhängig vom Maßstab eingestellt. Die Haupteinheitengruppen sind bis zum Maßstab 1:1.000.000 sichtbar, die Haupteinheiten von 1:500.000 bis 1:1.000.000 und die Untereinheiten von 1:1 bis 1:500.000.

Abschließend wurde die Darstellung der Naturschutzgebiete an ihre Größe angepasst, indem sie in drei Gruppen “Klein”, “Mittel” und “Groß” mit jeweils einer eigenen Farbe pro Gruppe eingeteilt wurden.

Very colorful windows in Selfridges this month, with a sports theme.

Or rather, a fantasy sport theme. Mannequins are all donning Vespa helmets for protection, but they don’t actually seem fazed that they are floating about as if in a lunar module. Although they are employing some rather futuristic devices (in the way that Leonardo’s projects were ingeniously futuristic), it all looks like a whole lotta fun, and not a don’t-try-this-at-home advertisement for extreme outdoor activities. Along with windsurf sails and inflatable dinghies (here comes the summer!), it’s all a fabulous jumping and flying with the aid of spring-propelled seats, giant winged turbines, 3-wheeled pods and flying umbrellas.

Always worth a good half-hour stop on the Oxford Street pavement.

Anzevino and Florence new tops will help you look just a little bit hotter this Summer. They have created these new t-shirts, tanks, and scarves that are made of color changing cotton that are apart of their new S/S ‘08 collection. When heat comes in contact with the fabric it change to a lighter color. I’m not too sure how flattering they would be on a “sweat box”, but these pieces will make a cool conversation.
