Now someone else knows…

R.’s mom and I talked after church this past sunday. She knows about son being gay and a bit of the court issues. Her son had heard the rumors about my son and had mentioned to his mom some of the stuff my son had been saying. Not good stuff.

12-30-2009

just found a note in my sons room. he has a crush on a boy at his counseling/court appointed program.

he wrote and told him his life story. Apparently we are fighting all the time, he feels responsible for 2 divorces; ours [in the future] and my brother and sister-in-law [the victims parents.] we talk too much in front of him about divorce and our problems, which unfortunately is about him, but it’s because we can’t handle our circumstances in an adult fashion.

How do you tell a boy he isn’t the one responsible?

He stated I wanted to hit him [when he was little] just so I could get into a better rehab program when I was an alcoholic.

He stated he is agnostic now because of pastor, school issues [being kicked out of a christian school] and his parents don’t agree with his sexual orientation.

He stated I have sided with God and not my son because I believe God says it is wrong. He stated I am an overly religious mother.

I am crushed again beyond words, Im pathetic for not helping when he was getting teased when he was younger, for not loving his father, for not choosing him over God.

I feel like breaking something.

12/19/2009 Son and i were talking this morning about the Old Testament laws, civil, moral, ceremonia

12/19/2009

Son and i were talking this morning about the Old Testament laws, civil, moral, ceremonial, judicial. Discussing which of those laws are now null and void. The ones when Jesus came, He fulfilled them.

I take the bible pretty literal. Knowing psalms is poetry, Revelation is prophecy and gospel and some OT is literal. I believe Job was a true person, as was Ruth. I believe when God spoke to Moses about the laws, all the laws, He wasn’t just speaking in general terms or in parables. He said what He meant and meant what He said.

Now to figure out if and when the laws are null and void.

Sacrifices… easy. Jesus became our perfect sacrifice.

But what about cutting of the hair and side burns, tattoos, sex with menstruating wife, leaving some of your harvest for the poor [whatever your harvest may be], mixing fabrics, seeds and cows, etc.?

Does God really mean what He says about those things? Have we just looked over those things because of our culture?

We then got to talking about him being gay and why he won’t say the words to me. He doesn’t want to hurt me or ‘deal the final blow’ so to speak. But we talked about it and I finally got him to say it.

No sense keeping me in the dark, and he will have to say it to others and it will be just as hard to do it.

After the first time he said then he said he was a homosexual.

I said, see its getting easier, isn’t it?

~~

He is mad at the pastor, for some reason he thinks pastor or R’s mom is lying about the conversation they had about the cupcakes. So son wants to ‘talk’ to the pastor, should be quite interesting since the boy has a chip on his shoulder about this a mile wide.

~~

And the counselor at the research clinic wonders why I’m not getting better on the meds. * sigh *

Babies are born every minute of every year, in every country of the world. But during the month of December, those babies suddenly and magically need names, and those names often fall into lists. Let’s name some babies!

The Social Security Administration adds to the hysteria every year by releasing a list of the names most often registered for newborns over the course of the past year. For last year, it reads Jacob, Michael, Ethan, and Joshua for boys; Emma, Isabella, Emily, and Madison for girls. Explore, if you will, these ridiculous choices.

Jacob, Michael, Joshua: reasonable, understandable, boring. An indication that this nation relies a little to heavily on canon to name its babies, whether using books written by God or by Stephenie Meyer. (The name Stephenie, as it turns out, hasn’t been in the top 1,000 names since 1987. Go figure.)

Emma, Isabella, Ava (#5): You can’t make your baby European by giving her a moderately exotic name. It doesn’t work that way. And where did all these vowels come from? What happened to the Jessicas and Jennifers, the Samanthas and Brittanys of the ’80s?

As interesting as these names may be, they do not make for a very hip baby. Cruise on down the list, past the top 100, to find some real gems. If you have to go Biblical, why not rock a little Seth or Jonah? Keep that palindromic vibe with a Piper or an Aurora. Take a literary leap: Emerson makes the the top 500 for both boys and girls.

At any rate, trends are meant to be set, not followed. Use the list of most popular names as a guide for what you really shouldn’t name your soon-to-be-born kid.

Here is what I know.

When God puts something on your heart, you don’t have to rationalize it to the people around you.

Lately, I’ve been trying to rationalize why so much of the content on this site has been dedicated to understanding, knowing, and learning about people in the GLBT community. And then today, as I was reading blog posts by Ben, J.R. Mahon, and a few others, I realized that I don’t need to explain it all away.

I have certain suspicions as to why I’m being led in this direction…like my involvement in Imagine/Northampton and specific personal experiences with people who have had their lives flipped upside down because of their messy life stories…

…but ultimately when God puts something on my heart, it is my responsibility to follow it. If I don’t, I could be really missing out, and I don’t want that to happen.

I am finding a certain fearlessness that accompanies following Christ’s calling as it is played out in my life.

So, if you have been wondering why I’ve been focusing on the relationship between the Church and the GLBT community, there’s your answer. Because God has something lined up for me and I don’t want to miss it.

I don’t know what it is or when…just that if it is something that he is leading me to, then it will be good.

So this post is mostly in response to 2 videos from carlkr, the first being his video on Gays being

So this post is mostly in response to 2 videos from carlkr, the first being his video on Gays being killed in Uganda and the second on him vs Christianity. I’ve heard of this kind of stuff happening in 3rd world countries, people getting killed for their beliefs and now it has hit the gay community. Now in Carl’s video he points out that it’s the Christian Evangelical’s that are causing this. I don’t 100% agree with this. They are most certainly spreading Christianity and one of the beliefs that goes along with that is that homosexuality is wrong/is sinning. My belief is that the missionaries are either not using the Bible in context (they are just pulling certain parts out and leaving others) or the people that they are ministering to are taking it differently than intended. And I don’t mean this as a slam to all missionaries in 3rd world countries (I know some great missionaries in Uganda right now). But I think that killing someone for their beliefs is totally and extremely inhumane! It is not moral or ethical! We have free will, whether or not someone believes that it was given to them by God or they are born with it. We have free will! And we can choose to live the way we want. And along the lines of his second video, he was sent a message by a Christian missionary telling him that he was going to hell for being gay. What that missionary says IS written in the Bible, but it is most notable in the Old Testament which is known for being the rule book portion of the Bible. Further on in the Gospel section (New Testament) it is pointed out that the only way to heaven is through Him (God, Jesus, Lord, etc.), no exceptions. If there is anything more obvious in life it’s that you have to use things in context. You cannot pick and choose what you want to hear so that you can convince people to think a certain way or do things a certain way. That aside I believe that there is a deeper meaning to the gay lifestyle. There are 2 mindsets that takeplace. One is the gay lifestyle, where a person is attracted to a person of the same gender and it is a love based relationship just like any other relationship in the world. The 2nd is called SSA. As much as I want to keep from calling gay a “disease” I would classify SSA (Same Sex Attractions) as a mental condition (not like Down syndrome or Cerebral Palsy but like ADD or Anxiety). It is caused by all sorts of triggers in life. It could be that you didn’t connect with your father well, or you didn’t develop good and healthy relationships with guys your age or it could be that you were mistreated by guys. It could be all sorts of factors. But neither the gay lifestyle or SSA are unchangeable. If you don’t want to be attracted to men or don’t want to live in the gay lifestyle, it’s not impossible to change. If you wanted to change you would have to go back in your mind and do some mental rehab. Figure out what you are lacking. What is your mind missing and needing on a social, relationship, love type level. And once you figure out what is missing, fill in the gaps. I also want to address Carl’s video about Christianity on another topic. I am a Christian. I’ll just lay that down to begin with. However I am currently going through a war in my mind about whether or not I should believe. There are plenty of logical arguments for and against Christianity. Carl pointed out that our facial features are defined at/before birth by our genes, who’s to say that our sexual orientation isn’t. If that was that case it would disprove Christianity. Quite frankly I don’t know how to backup my faith at this moment and I don’t think I am in any state with my faith to do so. I will bring these topics up with my pastor and see what he has to say about them. I won’t just convey what he says though I’ll weigh out any bias or “non-context” stuff. Time for some Jimmy John’s!

Thanks for reading! These have been getting long.

The Social Security Administration has made several changes related to its electronic wage reporting process starting this month. It has redesigned its home page to include a more user-friendly interface with access to W-2 and W-2C Online and Resubmission Acknowledgement applications. You will still need a user ID and password to access to the updated redesigned electronic wage reporting suite of services. They also have updated the Electronic Wage Reporting Handbook, it now contains a new format and content that is easier to read. On Dec. 7, W-2c Online began accepting prior year W-2c reports. Employers should note that W-2c Online will no longer accept tax year 2006 W-2c reports after April 15, 2010.

As you may be aware, this is my last blog. Don’t get all disappointed and teary-eyed on me, as a reward for your loyalty & devoted support- I’m writing 3-in-1. You can also call this your Christmas present – after all, times are hard! So without further ado . . .

(Part 1) Negative Dominance & Craig’s Half Term Report!

Following Tuesday’s emphatic midweek win away at Gateshead, spirits where high in the Stags’ dressing room. David Holdsworth could welcome back more fire power to his squad with Rob Duffy returning from suspension – would he have to settle for a place on the bench with Kyle Perry and Lee Morris impressing at Gateshead? Who would fill the gap at centre half with Scott Garner suspended? My money was on Craig Armstrong. Would Ollie Hotchkiss get a place in the starting 11 after his thunderous free kick?

These questions were answered — but with some surprises. Michael Brough started at centre back; Paul Heckingbottom came back in at left back – meaning I lost my £5 bet with a friend about Armstrong starting! Ollie Hotchkiss replaced Matt Somner in midfield to partner John Challinor, while Rob Duffy came straight back into the side to partner Kyle Perry.

As everybody will know by now, Stags dominated 90% of the game and should have ran up a cricket score against a shoddy Grays side - the first side to my knowledge to travel to the fixture via two mini-buses and a car: perhaps players and supporters travelled together, it was the lowest away attendance I’ve ever known - eight fans! Fair play to them! It was obvious to everybody in the ground that Grays’ keeper was the weak link, dropping everything! 0-0 at half time and Stags came out fighting and when they earned a penalty everyone thought the outcome was a foregone conclusion – Rob Duffy would bury it and get the scoring mêlée underway! But he missed, and then spooned the follow-up which was a simple tap-in. This is where Grays won a point for me – penalties are a psychological battle between keeper and taker – the keeper won and grew in confidence while Duffy hit a wall and failed to produce – eventually getting substituted for Lee Morris. No matter who we threw on or what we threw at the keeper – he somehow, much to everyone’s amazement, kept the Stags at bay. Final score 0-0, everybody went home, pleased at how we played but frustrated at how we failed to run up a cricket score – we had enough chances, it just wasn’t our day!

Luke Jones (Pic Dan Westwell)

This game now takes us to half way through our season, and I think that despite some suspect results, we’re not doing too badly. We’re in the play-offs and will probably have to settle for that come the end of the season. I think that with all the tinkering Holdsworth has made he needs to settle on a side that will play together constantly - our best form of attack seems to be when we play the ball on the floor, our centre back pairing of Jones and Garner is good enough to bring the ball down and pass into the playmakers. Matt Somner/ Kyle Nix/ Ollie Hotchkiss/ Gary Mills all have potential to change a game and I think if they can get the ball wide early (especially at home) to Williams/ Burgess/ Briscoe we are a real force going forward. I’d like to see Daryl Clare back - now he’s got a few games and goals under his belt he could be a key asset to our side. If we’re to push on, we need to switch on and be aware of counter attacks, turn these draws into wins and make the most of our chances.

My player of the season tip is Luke Jones, closely followed by Marriott and Silk!

But hey, what do I know? I’m just a fan, just a writer! This concludes Part One.

(Part 2) Answering Questions!

I’m just going to answer a few questions I’ve been asked since announcing I’d step aside to let someone else have a go at this blog. Where better to start than ‘Why are you stepping aside?’

Well, since climbing over that fence in Barrow to join Mansfield 103.2, I’ve really started to enjoy sports broadcasting and after many conversations I feel I have a real chance of making it, but only if I take off my ‘Stags Fan’ glasses. The only thing stopping me doing that is writing this blog, and as much as I love it, it becomes difficult for me to write when I have to look at the game from a different perspective.

‘What next for you?’

Although I’m not going to walk straight into a career, I have to take a gamble and am currently looking to study sports journalism. I think I will continue to join Mansfield 103.2 on a match day, if not I’ll go back in the stands and just become a normal fan – meaning my gamble will not have paid off, but I’m focused on working hard enough to make it work.

‘Is this the end of your writing career?’

Fear not! It is not the end. I’m hopeful to return to the Chad on occasion should they give me the opportunity to write a few one-off pieces about Stags. Long term I’m also working on a book about following the Stags and how it differs being in the BSP from the league, called “Into the Unknown”. I just need to get the green light from a few people, so you’ll have to keep your eyes open!

‘Will the blog end now your leaving?’

Definitely not! The Chad are looking for a new blogger, and I would urge anyone to send who’s interested to send in an example blog entry to them: it’s thanks to this blog that I’ve been recognised and have the chance at a career. Although nothing is guaranteed, if you work hard enough you might get a chance like I have. There is no pay, but it only takes about 20 minutes on a Sunday- and they’re boring anyway, so it helps pass the time.

Give it a go, whether you’re young or old this could potentially get you recognised- and it’s really enjoyable too.

‘Which has been your favourite blog entry?’

Although I enjoy writing them all, I like most the ones where I share the stories of what happens on away trips - that always brings a huge smile to my face. I’m also proud of the ‘Meet the Manager’ one, which got published in the paper, – this got me recognised and I still get great feedback from it. I wasn’t asked to do it, I just did it so it’s little things like that which can make the difference.

(Part 3) Thank you and goodbye.

I’d just like to say a HUGE Thanks to the following people who have made this blog possible and made it so enjoyable. Tom Pegg – who gave me the opportunity to start writing it. Tim Morriss/ John Lomas and everybody at the Chad office who gave me advice about writing. Mark Stevenson at the club, who has been a regular reader and has helped me to get a few players reading! Dan Westwell for supplying some fantastic photos. Gary Mills for taking the time to comment on a few entries and chat with me. Craig Armstrong / Luke Jones – great people to interview and talk to – they’re defo on my Christmas card list! David Groom/ Chris Priest/ Matt Gibbons/ Stacey Webb/ Bekii Watson/ Nigel Kemp & EVERYONE on the SSA Bus who provided some great days out and resulted in the funny stories being shared via this blog. Anyone I’ve missed off – there are so many- you’re all great!

Last but not at all least – YOU, for reading without fail every week, coming up to me and being generally brilliant! None of this could have happened without your support – please do the same for next blogger and if you’re thinking about being the blogger, get your entries sent in, you won’t regret it.

This concludes my blog. Thanks as always; until we meet again; COME ON YOU STAGS – Get behind the squad and get us back to the league.

I’ve been reading this pdf book, have not finished it, but some of you might want to read it.

Excerpt from Defend the Family:

Source: In House
Author: Dr. Scott Lively
Abstract:
On June 17th of this year I published what I expect to be my final book on the homosexual issue. “Redeeming the Rainbow: A Christian Response to the Gay Agenda” is the product of 20 years of service as a front-lines opponent of the homosexual movement and encompasses all that I have learned through this long tour of duty. Although a print version of the book will soon be available for purchase, the electronic version in PDF format is free for download and may be freely distributed without charge or restriction, except that you may not alter the book or offer it for sale. I encourage you to make the fullest use of this, my gift to the international pro-family movement. Dr. Scott Lively

~~

I have not looked thru the entire website, so you are on your own. I know it is pro-family, which assumably is anti-gay.

~~

I also just wanted to add a blurb in here to say i am done reading books on pro-gay and anti-gay.

my brain is full of info. and i have come to the realization that the only thing i am to do now [after learning as much i can take]

is to love the boy.

I do read websites, blogs and any real life stories that come my way.

I also found Duncans blog [the guy from Sex Rehab] Really good stuff, he is bright articulate and honest.

I asked a question to Ben- from FaithAutopsy- a little while ago regarding the distinction between s

I asked a question to Ben- from FaithAutopsy- a little while ago regarding the distinction between saying “I am gay” and “I struggle with homosexuality”.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading through books and listening to both sides of the fence on thoughts about homosexuality, but I wanted to speak with someone who has had a lifetime of experience and could give me his personal input on the aforementioned question.

I promised I would respond with my thoughts after he posted, and I was a lazy bum and waited until now to give some feedback. But alas, here it is!

I came at the question because I was having some initial struggles with someone who loves God deeply saying “I am gay”. I just didn’t know how to react to that statement, because it seemed that this was taking over the primary identity of being a Christ-follower. Thought it seemed that way to me, Ben gave a clear explanation of how he views his identity, with the central part of who he is being centered around Christ. He then went into further detail explaining that we each have sub-identities that are still part of who we are, though not our primary identity.

To me, this seems fair enough. But I would say that while using the phrase “struggling with same sex attraction” may lead to a lessening of the reality of the situation and personal ownership, it has the potential to become over emphasized as a part of one’s identity that competes with first place- even if it unintentional and subconscious. I am not suggesting that this happens often, and I am certainly not suggesting that this is something that Ben has struggled with (how would I even know?)- but I am just saying that there seems to be a loophole where saying “I am gay” could become a focal point that shuts out the most important aspect of what defines a Christian along with other important “sub identities.”

I pretty much agree with the rest of his post (if you missed the link, you can read his response here), but still have a lot of work to do in trying to understand. In my opinion, you can use whichever term you like…it’s none of my business. I don’t really think one is more correct than the other.

As long as the primary identity is centered in Christ, I could care less about sentence structure and terminology. But when these two phrases get used to either 1. belittle a very real part of who someone is or 2. overemphasize something that should not define the entirety of a person’s existence, then I think we have a problem.

Ben- feel free to chime in on any of this, and as always- thanks for your post!

You may have heard the flutter over UNAIDS’s report showing 17% reductions in HIV prevalence in sub-Saharan Africa. Sounds like good news all around, right? Well, here are brief thoughts on a few concerns i have about those figures.

i haven’t read the methods for the estimation closely, but it’s highly probable that some shifting population dynamics may be part of the story (e.g., recent declines in fertility – albeit modest – may be reducing the number of susceptibles sufficiently to shift the population structure enough to appear like a reduction when it’s not really one; similarly i don’t know how shifts in AIDS-specific mortality, have been accounted for either).

Perhaps more problematically for these estimates, given things that i have encountered personally in field work in Malawi, is the fact that those who know they are positive are more likely to refuse additional testing in the future. And with the – again, albeit limited – uptick in testing in many countries in SSA recently, the declines may be in part reflecting those refusals more than an actual drop in prevalence (see dadakim for more on this point).

i’d prefer to not always play the pessimist, i just think that this one should be read a bit cautiously.

Meine eigene Bestellung lief damals vollkommen problemlos ab.

11/16/2009

After the last bible study we 4 ladies had, the pastor graced us with his presence [at my request] to ask and answer questions and to encourage us. He managed to make the 3 other ladies cry as he told us that this [situation] is probably the hardest we shall ever face and to be strong and pray for our kids.

One of the ladies got a ’saved the date’ notice from her daughter who is getting married in Cali. to her girlfriend.

The mom is pretty devastated right now, she also found out her son and girlfriend are going to be parents.

One mom [well, pretty much all of them] refuse to communicate with their child about them being gay.

I’m hoping I communicate to mine enough. We did have an hour and a half conversation about how i could love him and believe the bible and God say that homosexuality is wrong. He can’t figure it out in his mind. Well, I can’t most of the time, either, but I try.

He also told me during this conversation that he believes he is born gay.

We have a new player on the scene. A girl who attends college and she has attached herself to Sam [my sons best friend, who is a girl, but wants to be a boy]. Apparently she has told her parents she is bisexual and they are not taking it very well. she is the same age as Sam.

She seems ok, but Sams mom freaked out when the friend spent the night.

My son seems to think they are just friends, that Sam is just being nurturing to someone because she can empathize.

Son and I are spending a few days with my mom and aunt this Thanksgiving. I shall look forward to jokes, innuendos and many topical conversations about homosexuality and i will just happen to be the only one who believes its not an inborn trait. Oh Joy!

later, Mom

Imagine a feral child in torn rags, eying you hungrily from the curb (no food stamps, not its fault, parents out of work) grunting inarticulately (no public schools) while gnawing on a senior citizens bones (no SSA and Medicare) while you look out for bandits (no public police) in the decaying ‘hood which used to be so nice (no public firefighters). Now get into your solar-electric golf cart (you’re presumed to be one of the lucky at this point)one hand on the wheel and one on your gun and drive away on the pockmarked broken road (no public upkeep) looking out for potholes, bandits, dead bodies and feral kids (did I mention…). Now turn on your GPS (no one replacing the torn-down street signage) hoping the few remaining satellites (no NASA) are enough signal to get by this day. You get to work, where you eke out enough to eat and not much else (no minimum wage or monopolistic oversight to make sure Corporations don’t conspire to keep wages low). Now for the hunt for food, (groceries are much scarcer now due to lack of food stamp spending). Finally after zig-zagging across town you find a store, heavily-guarded by private security (an industry doing fairly well in this brave new world) and you enter after being rudely frisked and scanned. You look at the poor selection, sighing as you realize highwaymen have probably been at it again, robbing supply trucks (no public highway patrol). You pick up a poor excuse of a head of lettuce (shaking your head) and remind yourself to really clean it this time, with clean water (as if that would help with the public Agriculture and Environmental Protection Agencies gutted by conservatives), that last bout of salmonella nearly killed you (no health care insurance and the conservatives managed to close down the use of emergency rooms without insurance and proof of citizenship). You leave, parting with $50. (moneys dropped big time) for the lettuce and a pound of meat of dubious origin (no gov’t inspections). You’d like to find a better job, but where? There are far more people than jobs now. You think about picking up your mail and chide yourself for the Nth time for forgetting there is no public postal service anymore. You figure it’s just a matter of time before the Corporation replaces you with an alien (no public border guards). Oh well, tomorrow is another day ! You can always go into security, you’re responsible for your own future. No handouts for you, “Welfare,”, you spit out, as if tasting something bad, “for losers”. Hard to believe people use to use the word in sentences like, “looking out for the welfare of one another”. Left-wing propaganda! Opportunities abound for a smart man you think as you drive into your fortified hovel, locking the doors behind you and turning the radio on to listen to President Becks nightly address.

Only four out of a list of 53 students suffering from cancer or heart problem in the state could be treated under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA) as health department has confirmed only these four. Other students are still waiting because of some discrepancies in the forms sent. A special meeting has been called by the Director General School Education (DGSE) to verify the cases and facts.

Under Inclusive education for disabled, a project of SSA, students suffering from various diseases are treated free of cost, students are identified by organizing various camps and students suffering from ear, eyes or orthopaedic problem have already been treated under the programme. Further in the programme only, a list of 53 students have been identified but only four students from the state could be treated so far and rest of the students are still waiting for the treatment. Read More>>

11/09/2009 Everytime i try to write up a little update i get sad. so i dont. We had meeting with son

11/09/2009

Everytime i try to write up a little update i get sad. so i dont.

We had meeting with sons counselor for his SSODA program. He told us son is doing well in class. a leader, a go-getter, talkative and nice. We had no questions for him and then he said ”lets get the elephant out of the middle of the room”

the elephant he was speaking of? the GAY elephant.

He seems to think sons gay issues are not the cause of him molesting his victim. I beg to differ but didn’t say anything at the time.

Then he wanted to know if i wanted any info from him. i declined telling him i have internet and about 40 books to read from. From both sides of the issue.

~~

my guinea pig trials are going well, im testing an anti-psychotic drug at a research place near my home. I seem to have a bit more energy, but still feel like a sad rain cloud is floating over my head. My sleep is still crappy also.

~~

The bible study I’m leading with 3 other ladies is nearing its end. Only one more chapter to guide us moms, coping with our childs SSA. We are all kinda sad and am figuring out a way to do it again with others.

~~

My husband and I were going to marriage counseling but after 4 session, he quit. He feels like she is not telling him anything he didn’t already know. But I have been learning a lot. I found out my husband is very insecure about money and his self-image, about mine and sons relationship [how he feels left out all the time] and that he is admittedly lazy.

not to mention, I’m way to controlling, stubborn and resentful. hmmmm…

So i will continue to go a few more times. We do both know whats wrong with each of us, but refuse to do anything about it, i guess. Marriage is hard.

~~

College is going well for the boy, he is scoring pretty high on his mid terms.

Every Friday night we are hosts to 2 or 3 girls to watch movies and play games. Every Friday night I want to drink.

And take sleeping pills. And clench my teeth. It’s not that I don’t like the girls, it’s that my boy should be having boys over. When the girls are over, he acts, talks, screams, moves like a girl.

And if the reparative therapy books are correct, he should be having healthy non-sexual relationships with males.

~~

Holiday season is swiftly approaching and it just depresses me because of family relations. Not being able to see half my family is sad. Seeing my husband’s family stresses me out also. [Because they don't know]

My brother is divorcing his wife. He has moved out and is living in someones basement. He finally got a job. But the kids will take it the hardest. His son is my sons victim. So to add to the horror of being molested by his cousin, his dad moves out. It’s sad. All so sad.

~~

I’m coming to the point of acceptance, but not in the way the world thinks of acceptance.

I do not condone his actions, but i am accepting the fact that God is in control of his life and i am not. That God will do what He must to make son glorify Him.

I just wish God would sanctify him in some other way.

~BH Mom

I was listening to a radio talk program and this verse came up. It was a counseling talk program on AM.

2Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. 13Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.

14And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

15Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.

I can’t even remember what they were talking about but I do remember they were speaking to a caller about one of the biggie sins listed among homosexuality, adultery and such in Leviticus and Romans.

How do you put these people who are doing these sins? in the timid category? in the unruly category?

Where do we put the youth with SSA? or the pastor living with the hidden knowledge of his homosexuality?

What if someone is really weak when it comes to a particular sin…do we rebuke them or encourage and support them?

What is this person is just starting to figure out they are attracted to the same sex? or living with a partner?

What if they are not a really strong Christian or a babe in Christ and they just can’t seem to get it together, maybe it’s partying Saturday night and not coming to church, or living in sin or addicted to well, whatever?

Do you encourage them or tell them to get it together?

Do we encourage them to get help or explain to them our theology on the subject?

Do we support them and try to accept their born SSA tendencies?

What if it’s an older wiser Christian who has drifted away, left his/her spouse, using drugs, hooked on porn, suddenly realizing they love the same sex?

What if they are unruly, meaning they don’t want our help, stop coming to church or even deny there is a problem?

Something to think about….

The Sports Shooter Academy gang thought we’d put together a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) to answer a few of the questions….that we get asked….frequently!

“When will you hold a Sports Shooter Academy in _______?” Due to the immense task of planning the workshop, the proximity of Division 1 universities in the area, the fact that the entire faculty resides in the region, and the relationships and ties the faculty has with the schools and teams in the area, Sports Shooter Academy is held in Orange County, CA. We will not have other workshops anywhere else. If you see a Sports Shooter Academy anyplace besides the OC, it’s a fake!

“How old do I need to be to attend Sports Shooter Academy?”To be accepted to Sports Shooter Academy, you must be 18 years of age and to be considered a student, must be enrolled full-time at a college or university.

“I live outside of the United States. Can I attend Sports Shooter Academy?” Sure! We have had international students and participants from countries including Japan, the United Kingdom, and Canada, our friends from the North! Just remember you are responsible for all of your own paperwork and you are on your own to get to Orange County, CA.

“I shoot Canon but I see that Nikon sponsors the workshop and provides loaner equipment and support. Can I still attend?” Of course you’re still welcome to attend and use the loaner equipment from Nikon! Just remember that control layouts and zoom & focus rings between Nikons and Canons are different and can take some time to get used to.

“Is transportation provided during the workshop?” No. Due to liability reasons, the faculty and staff cannot give rides to students and participants. If you are a student who cannot rent a car, don’t worry. Participants and students always help each other out and ride sharing is encouraged. Pre-workshop discussion groups and email lists will let everyone get to know each other and logistical plans for rides and hotel rooms can be made by those who are interested.

“When are applicants accepted into the workshop?” Keep in mind there is a very limited number of spaces available in this workshop. We will be reviewing applications as they come in and those that are accepted will be notified immediately after that. There is a deadline, however we expect all of the spaces to be filled before that date. Once all of the spaces in the workshop are filled, we will start a waiting list and all openings due to dropouts will be filled from that list.

Hope this helps! We hope to see you in the OC in 2010!

Aloha,

The noticed inflow of fresh foreign investment into emerging markets, should raise growth prospects in Frontier Markets in Sub-Saharan Africa.

According to recent published data, foreign investments into emerging markets are reaching record levels unseen in 25 years. This resurgence of foreign capital into developing economies pushed the brazilian government to create a new 2% tax on these foreign capital inflows. Although this rule was deemed necessary to halt the rise of the local currency (Real), it’s nonetheless unprecedented for emerging countries to pass such precautionary measures.

On the flip side, once the valuation of local investments in Brazil, China, and South Africa can no longer sustain this continued flow of capital, the underlying assets would need to expand beyond their traditional borders into frontier markets (for revenues). When all is said and done, Frontier Markets will represent the only untapped source of potential growth sought after by investors, and it might take diversification & expansionist strategies by emerging markets - business leaders - to get there.
