Tate galleries have revealed that next year’s exhibitions will include work from Henri Matisse, J. M. W. Turner and Piet Mondrian. This follows a triumphant year for the artistic institution, with the largest ever collection of work from pop artist Roy Lichtenstein still on show.

We asked MPhil Art History student Rosie Beddows her thoughts. She said: “I’m a great fan of the Romantics, so I’m really looking forward to seeing so many Turners all in one place. Not only was he a great painter, but he influenced so many other artists. Of course the Tate is huge which means they can be this diverse in their exhibitions – there’s something for everyone.”

Tate Modern, famed for its varied permanent collection of modern art, but also for its vast Turbine Hall which houses elaborate interchangeable works sits on the River Thames opposite St Paul’s Cathedral. In 2014 the former power station will become home to the exhibition titled Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs.

The collection of Matisse’s cut-outs will be the most comprehensive retrospective ever shown. About 120 pieces of art will be on show, from the French artist that the Tate has labelled “one of the world’s most important modern painters.”

The exhibition will include Matisse’s The Snail 1953, Memory of Oceana 1953 and Large Composition with Masks 1953.

J. M. W. Turner (1775-1851)

J. M. W. Turner’s work will be on show at Tate Britain, titled Late Turner: Painting Set Free. The exhibition, which is held at Tate’s oldest art gallery, will look back at work from the British Romantic landscape painter.

The work on show will range from 1835, when Turner turned 60 years old, and will stop at 1850 when he had his last Royal Academy exhibition 15 years later.

Paintings on show in Late Turner: Painting Set Free will include Rain, Steam, and Speed – The Great Western Railway 1844 and The Blue Rigi, Sunrise 1842.

Anna Calvi performs a beautiful track inspired by J. M. W. Turner

Piet Mondrian (1872-1944)

Mondrian and his Studios is the title for Piet Mondrian’s exhibition, which will take place at Tate Liverpool next year. The Dutch painter is famed for his groundbreaking style with black lines filled in with solid white and primary colours.

Tate calls him “one of the most important contributors to the development of abstract art at the beginning of the 20th Century.” The exhibition marks the 70th anniversary of his death and will recreate Mondrian’s Paris studio for visitors to the Liverpool gallery.

Tate Modern

Tate

The Tate was first established when industrialist and art collector Sir Henry Tate offered his collection to the British Museum in 1889. His offer was refused, and so he began his search for somewhere to house his art.

In 1892 Tate found the site at Millbank where Tate Britain now sits. A former prison was demolished in 1890 and architect Sidney R.J. Smith began work on creating the gallery that stands there today.

Now the Tate institution has spread to Tate Modern, Tate Liverpool and Tate Ives, with all four galleries housing work from some of history’s most famous artists including Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso and Claude Monet.

As a blogger I’ve learned that even the most mundane things are details people want to know and equally I have learned that I enjoy sharing. So finally I have put together a list of beauty items that I use daily at minimum to maintain my FLYY.

Let me say the one thing I am very serious about is my skin so I take care of it very well. It’s crazy how so many people neglect it or just don’t know enough about theirs to treat it appropriately. It’s important first to find a cleanser that will handle your needs. Olay Fresh Effects does that for me. I use this in the morning prior to applying my makeup, it makes for a fresh canvas and it focuses on minimizing the shine. I use St. Ives Apricot scrub at night to remove the makeup and day’s dirt it works like a charm.

The next step is critical; ladies moisturize your face!! Do not throw any old lotion you have sitting on your counter you use for your feet on your mug. Buy a moisturizer that will give your face some protection from the elements, your makeup, and the day. Also, ensure that it has SPF, even you ladies of color – sun protection is important for everyone.

My makeup routine is fairly easy with my eyebrows probably taking the longest, I didn’t feature what I use here but it is Maybelline’s Expert Wear dark brown eyeliner. My other staple items shown above include Maybelline’s Volum’ Express mascara & FIT concealer, Wet n’ Wild Mega Eyes liquid eyeliner, e.l.f blush and Ecotools brushes. While I do have other products in my arsenal these are items that get the most attention.

As you can see I am a fan of Maybelline, I find that its color options are more widespread than some other brands. Wet n’ Wild is great for lipsticks and this eyeliner, I’ve been using it for quite sometime and have yet to find another that does as well. e.l.f is a great affordable brand, while I don’t love all they offer these blushes are dope! I first discovered Ecotools in an issue of Allure at the beginning of sustainable products and I’ve had three sets. Good brushes for the low low.

I hope this list of items helps you ladies maintain your FLYY like I do mine, let me know some of your favs!

stay FLYY. live FLYYER.

L. Camille

The UpRight TM12 is the smallest of our available boom lifts. It’s known as a personnel lift, as it really only has the capacity to lift one or two people and equipment, with a 500lb platform capability. It has a working height of just 5.7

These machines are particularly popular in offices, retail stores, hotels, schools and public buildings as they are so compact and do not require a large amount of space to be operated. Operators simply step onto the platform, drive to the work location and elevate to the desired height. When the job is complete, the lift can be quickly lowered and returned to a convenient storage area. The battery powered mast lift can be driven through standard doorways and carried in passenger elevators, yet will still lift two people with tools to a safe working height of 5.7 metres.m and is perfectly suited for working at height in restricted spaces, with its very narrow measurements, and compact size when stowed. Its compact size also makes it ideal for applications such as stock picking and record storage retrieval but it is often used for work such as suspended ceiling installation, electrical installations, decorating and fitting, etc.

The TM12 personnel lifts are safe and efficient to use and easy to transport, with the standard controls and safety alarms when descending or if the machine is tilting. It runs on electric, so will not release any harmful fumes when used inside, and comes with non-marking, solid rubber tyres.

We recommend the TM12 for the following jobs:
- Shop Fitters.
- Decorators.
- Electricians.
- Ceiling Installation.
- Cleaning at height.
- Lighting Contractors
- Small Indoor Applications.

I have been seeing St. Ives Apricot Scrub when I was young and thought that it may be really working

I have been seeing St. Ives Apricot Scrub when I was young and thought that it may be really working. Since I already have the St. Ives Collagen Elastin Moisturizer, I thought of getting this one too. Actually, I’ve had this for a year now. Even before I got myself Human Nature’s Vanilla Body Scrub.

I actually bought this to serve as a face scrub which I have none. But as said in the label, “Great for face and body”, this is a great multi-tasking product. Yippee! Talk about hitting two birds with one stone…

St. Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub for Fresh Skin has the same container and net amount of the moisturizer. It comes in a big plastic tub that contains the rich, thick face and body scrub. It’s also great to find all the information needed in the container. What’s not okay is that, since it is like a sticker, it may get ruined or erased with usage. But hey, it is bearable.

Exfoliates to reveal smooth, radiant skin –as the label says.

APPLICATIONMoisten face with water. Dispense product onto fingertips and massage over face. Rinse with water. Avoid direct contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, flush thoroughly with water. For best results, use 3 to 4 times per week.

PRODUCT CLAIMS

Oil-free • Non-irritating • dermatologist-tested • 100% natural exfoliants • 100% natural extracts • Formulated without parabens and phthalates • Made without animal ingredientsKEY INGREDIENTS

APRICOTS are known to contain one of the highest levels of carotenoids (think vitamin A) and super-effective antioxidants. All of this natural power might seem, well, too powerful, but they are actually quite gentle and nourishing and they help make fresher, more nourished skin beautifully possible.

CORN KERNEL MEAL is actually flour ground from dried corn. It’s a soft, but gently powerful all-natural exfoliant that promotes skin cell turnover and regeneration. Cornmeal makes softer-feeling, fresher skin possible.

WALNUT is known for its hard shell, but when it’s ground, it becomes an amazingly effective, all-natural exfoliant ingredient in our scrubs. Not only are walnuts plentiful on the planet, they also help newer, healthier skin come to the surface.

I still use this as a face scrub twice a week. On lazy days, I use this for both face and body so I don’t have to switch to another body scrub. As you can see in the picture, the scrub is unlike any other. Other scrubs have a creamy consistency with a little granules on the side. This one is more on the thick-full-scrub that you don’t feel any creamy-foamy-wash. When you apply it, you can feel the apricot scrub in every part of your body.

I love the fresh scent of apricot this scrub has! The scent of the key ingredients combined — apricot, corn kernel meal and walnut yields a refreshing, invigorating feel. I also love that the scent stays for quite a while even after I step out of the shower. I just follow the no-brainer application tip of just rubbing it on your moist skin and rinsing it off. As I am massaging the product on my face and/or body, I can really feel the tiny beads exfoliating. Upon rinsing it off, my face and whole body felt very fresh! My skin also felt very smooth. It really exfoliates and reveals soft, smooth skin. Since I use this as a face scrub more often, I think I am having less breakouts.

I use this at least twice a week . I make sure to apply moisturizers after to keep my skin soft, smooth and hydrated.

Reasons why I love this:

(+) The scent is really invigorating

(+) It doesn’t sting, itch, irritate and dry out my skin.

(+) It doesn’t leave any residue after rinsing.

(+) It exfoliates to reveal and make skin feeling soft and smooth

(+) It works best with lotions/moisturizers.

(+) It is a 2-in-1 product that you can use for both face and body.

(+) It is not tested on animals and made without animal ingredients.

(+) Made with 100% natural exfoliants and 100% natural extracts

(+) Oil-free and non-irritating [that is why it is great for both face and body]

(+) Dermatologist-tested

(+) Formulated without parabens and phthalates

(+) Complete information on the product: ingredients, expiration date, etc.

(+) Available in leading department stores

(+) affordable for an enormous size of 283g/239php!

What I wish:

(+) It came in a squeeze tube to prevent product contamination.

(+) It came in more scents!

OVERALL: I recommend this product to anyone looking for a good face and body scrub.

Here I am enjoying the Cornish seascapes of St Ives and a hug from my boyfriend. For me this trip was one of the most memorable of the holiday- due mostly to the very serious threat of being mobbed by a seagull. Usually I laugh at hysterical people who duck every time a seagull swoops over head, but not in this instance- these seagulls were tactical and extremely vicious…or so Tim found out; Tim who was about to enjoy a steak pasty was attacked from above when a seagull, who landed briefly on the head of the gentleman standing behind him, gobbled up half his lunch in one lightning swipe. Is this the beginning of things to come? For one, I refuse to give up my lunch to a seagull.

“Good morning birds, good morning trees. Oh what a lovely day!
The sun’s so big it hurts my eyes, but really that´s ok!”

Yes, I am quoting Shrek the Musical! But, I can honestly tell you that I have been feeling that way since Spring came to London this year. I actually have a more than usual spring in my step as I walk to work every day and it is even more obvious on weekends when I have time to really get into the spirit of Spring!

My friends and I took a train to Cornwall (England) on the weekend and visited the beautiful seaside village of St Ives. It had been raining on Saturday so we weren’t sure about the weather on Sunday, but just as our car pulled into the cobble stoned streets of St Ives, this big yellow thing in the sky appeared and generated warmth that I had not felt (in England) in such a long time! It was such a beautiful feeling on our skin that we just turned and faced the sun for a few moments, admiring and appreciating its beauty. I think I’m getting more and more like the British every day as the sun is something that I took for granted back in Australia

Then it was time for food! We made our way to Porthmeor Beach Cafe and ordered fruit smoothies to wash down our scones lathered with jam and Cornish clotted cream. If you have ever tasted clotted cream before, you will know that it’s full of buttery goodness!

We then moved on to a few courses of tapas dishes that included salt and pepper squid, battered monk fish, clams, prawns, chorizo meatballs, lamb chops, Spanish omelette and muscles with bacon and served with crusty bread… just to name a few! The waitress looked confused and baffled as to how we could eat so much as we ate twice the recommended number of dishes! To top it off, we enjoyed the seaside views as we downed apple cider and Cornish beer. It’s not a bad way to spend your Sunday afternoon I must say!

St Ive’s beach is quite beautiful and has a calmness that you don’t often see in popular beaches. We watched the waves crash against the sand while children and their parents ran around enjoying the sunshine. People happily played ballgames and walked their dog and it seemed that all was good in the world.

We then walked across the beach to visit a little church on top of a hill which gave us the best view of Porthmeor Beach. It was such an amazing view that I was not bothered by the constant gust of wind that was giving me a slight push. Ah! I love sunshine and I love the beach!

Are you one to sit in the sand or stand on the hill enjoying the beach from afar? Comment below and let me know!

The London Lassie gives the tops tips for a hydrated summer complexion… After SIX MONTHS of wi

The London Lassie gives the tops tips for a hydrated summer complexion…

After SIX MONTHS of winter, (seriously Mother Nature, what gives?) our skin really needs a boost. Winter isn’t the best time for skin. Chopping and changing between sub-zero temperatures and central heating filled homes causes skin to become dull and lifeless with a tendency to breakout. Because our body needs more energy in winter, if not fully nourished it will tap into the fat reserves, where essential skin nutrients are stored, resulting in dry skin. Dehydrated skin cells turn over sluggishly, causing a build-up of dead skin, which deters light reflection.

Something has got to give – and it doesn’t look like we can rely on the weather. Follow these tips to trick your skin into believing it’s spring.

Get a microdermabrasion facial

This treatment is known in the industry as the ‘non surgical facelift’ and it really is that miraculous. The skin is cleansed and then heavily exfoliated using crystals blasted onto the skin. This deep scrub smoothes out fine lines and reduces deep wrinkles. It also takes away the top layer of your skin which is blocked with oil and pollution. Afterwards, the excess skin is shown, and it’s not a pretty sight (think grey dirt), and if you get the tube to work it will be much worse. Oxygen is then pumped deep into the skin to give it a glowing and healthy boost. After your skin has been buffed to perfection and oxidised a deep hydrating mask is applied and left to set. The result? A glowing complexion you weren’t even sure you were capable of. Your make up will sit much better too!

Prices around £70 and available from most good salons.

Drink coconut water

Since the changeable weather is getting us down, many of us are beating the blues by engaging in a good night out. But the consequential hangover is another skin enemy leading to more dehydration. Drinking water is universally known as the way to go, but apparently pure coconut water is the most hydrating fluid you can drink for your skin. Get this delicious stuff down you to put all the rich goodness back into your complexion!

Exfoliate regularly

Central heating and extreme weather can dry our skin out, and can also lead to breakouts. Keep excess oils at bay and remove pollution regularly by using a daily facial scrub such as St Ives Invigorating Apricot Facial Scrub (£4.29). Follow with a hydrating moisturiser and you’re good to go!

Take Supplements

Although we all try to eat our 5 a day, sometimes it just isn’t enough. Add extra nutrients and improve your looks from within by taking a good daily supplement. Perfectil Hair Skin and Nails Tablets are always a winner and at only £6.69 for a month’s supply they are a bargain!

Sleep

Okay, it seems obvious, but sleeping more is one of the most important things you can do for your skin. Skin cell production is at its highest at midnight and your skin is more likely to absorb moisturiser after 4pm so make sure you apply a rich night cream. While you sleep your skin is given the chance to restore and revitalize itself. Your skin cells need 8-10 hours of rest in order to do this. Without enough sleep your body cannot drain off enough toxins meaning you can wake up with puffy and sallow skin with dark circles under your eyes – never a good look!

Dull winter skin – we’re coming to get you!

It was a bright June day when we set out for Cornwall. I was excited. It was just my mother and I for the first time in ages! Not only that: I was also headed back to Cornwall again for the first time in six years! 2008 was the year.

We were to see sights that were both commonplace in modern English culture and those steeped in the ancient mysteries of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

We were headed to Mullion Cove, where we had spent some time in a holiday cottage after having moved from Canada in May of 2002. We set out early in the day and expected to camp for the whole time we were away. In actual fact, it was too cold and, on the second night, we opted for a travelodge.

However, the first night was spent in a campsite, us having packed a tent in the back of our Subaru. When we got to the cove on the first day, we spent some time wandering around, taking various photos. We got some absolute scorchers as well! It figures, though. My mums a photographer. What a lovely setting.

The rugged coastline and unique culture of this part of the world leaves you with the feeling that it is completely disconnected from the mainland of United Kingdom. We spent the evening in a nice pub up on the hill behind the cove.

It was a pleasant place with an outside seating area/garden and there was a lovely breeze coming off the water. The tables were clean and the food was decent. It also had the most pleasant path leading up to it…

We had a game of dice. Its very similar to Yahtzee, a North American game. We took a walk along the top of the cliffs and sampled the view as the sun set on the western horizon. At this time of day, it is a beautiful and truly spiritual place.

Our campsite was on top of the hill above the hamlet and was therefore a little breezy. The sleeping in the tent was a little cold, although I didn’t feel this. I was snug a bug in a rug. Also, it was a three-man tent. Thats handy, given that I’m 6 feet 5 inches.

It was about five in the morning and a dull gun-metal sky presided over us. We packed the tent and set out across Cornwall for St Ives. My mum was very kind and gave up some of her day at Naval Air Station Culdrose‘s viewing area, complete with cafeteria. I remember taking a good shot of a Sea King helicopter based there. Good tea too!

Royal Navy Sea King (Photo credit: fromthevalleys-)

When we got to St Ives, it was still grey. Not clear like our previous day. The town retained its appearance, however. A rare quality is that this county, and, moreover, St Ives will look good no matter what the weather. In fact, it is probably more beautiful in the mist and fog. It is also home to the Tate St Ives.

Tate St Ives, Cornwall (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

What the town is Unique in is its peninsula-style harbour that has twin beaches, a feature that is not replicated anywhere else, to my knowledge. Although the sea gulls will try to steal your ice cream if you’re by the waterfront.

The smell of the sea mixed with fish and chips…and I mean the authentic English style…would be out of place on any other shore, especially without the accompanying countryside. It really fills the nostrils. It really can not be copied successfully either, although some areas of the world try to sell them with authenticity. It doesn’t ring true!

In the afternoon, we headed for the small town of Mousehole. This is a quaint town typical of any Cornish fishing community. It boasts a lovely harbour area, filled with small boats for rent, and a line of postcard shops with cafes. There is, of course, no shortage of pubs either.

That was day two over with. We spent that night in a Travelodge, given that my mother had to get some fitful sleep for the drive home the following day. She snored and I had a restless night, having to go for a couple of walks. But that didn’t bother me because I love my mother very much.

It was on the way home that we stopped off at Port Isaac, where we strode along the cliffs and sampled the village. It is a small fishing village that was very prosperous from the middle ages to the 19th century and vital commodities such as stone, coal, timber and potteries were unloaded here.

There are also good beaches around. If you want to surf, then the beaches at Perranporth and Newquay offer world-famous beaches and surf that will take your breath away.

I bought a little souvenir from the gift shop present at Tintagel castle. The prices were just about right there. Not too expensive, nor cheap. The item was a little Celtic treskil, or cross.

Legend has it that the castle is the birthplace of King Arthur. And so it slips into place as a site that is set in the most British of tales. And what better place to have it than this bleak and stormy isle!

A romantic, beautiful place, it is set amongst green cliffs and there is little left of the building itself. But that just adds to the scenario. It’s a bit like somebody just took an hourglass and made time stay till throughout the ages. To think of the legend that the place is immersed in just gives me goosebumps.

The castle itself is set amongst the steepest cliffs anywhere could possibly offer with green grass atop them. There is little left of the castle itself, but that only adds to its romantic and magical lore. It lies roughly equidistant between the towns of Padstow and Bude. Also very special places.

And so it came to pass that we plondered slowly home, a six-hour drive, under screaming blue skies and with happy contentment. We had had a joyous break!

Captivating title, right there.

I’ve just realised you can’t see the wicker basket in this picture. OH WELL. And it’s a mess. STRESSFUL.

I was thinking the other day (pre disgusting plane flight back to the UK, boo) that I’ve done all these weird collection-ish posts, like my nail varnish and jewellery and eyeliner and stuff, but I’ve never done a post about all my toiletries and bath stuff, or, as my nan would say, ‘smellies’.

Just the Lush and some of my Soap&Glory, because, hell, it looks pretty:).

First up:) The Lush collection currently scenting my bedroom. There’s a couple of bath bombs, bubble bars and soaps:) If you wana know what I think of these, have a look at my Lush Posts:). And moving on to something I haven’t already talked about.

Smooth.

Natural Collection! I’ve mentioned before that I looove Natural Collection make-up, and I actually think the toiletries are better, they smell amazing. These are the Mango and Papaya ones, which I love, with the strawberry ones coming a close second. And these are pretty cheap too:)

Random stuff. Because sadly, not everything fits neatly into a collection. There’s a Mary Kay body polish thing, and I just love the iridescent packaging, it’s gorgeous:) Next is a Palmers cocoa butter, which is brilliant and really moisturising, I just find that the smell can be a bit much and it’s quite thick, so I hardly ever use it. Next to that is my Sanex 0% body wash, which was advertised ages ago and I just ABSOLUTELY HAD TO GO AND BUY IT RIGHT THAT SECOND BECAUSE THE PACKAGING WAS LOVELY. And I’ve never used it, so, great. Finally, there’s an Original Source body wash, OMG I LOVE THESE. They smell actually amazing, and this ones really refreshing and lovely;) And it’s cheap too. Common theme in my room;L

The Body Shop. Because, well, who doesn’t love The Body Shop? I talked about the tea-tree stuff in my skincare post, because I love them. And then there’s the mango ones, which were a Christmas present, which I ah-dore. Like really. Smells amazing. And it came with one of those scratchy washy things, which look so cool hanging in the shower, but I’ve never used them because they hurt. And I only have, like, six of them, so yeah. Great.

The Soap&Glory I’m currently using:) God, this isn’t even all of it. I have a problem, maybe;) I love Soap&Glory, I love the funky, hilarious retro packaging. Amazing. Try. It. Now.

A mindblowing collection of Sanctuary, right there. I lovelovelove Sanctuary, but I don’t have any, because I’d never choose it over Lush or Soap&Glory, so I just steal my mom’s occasionally:) So yeah, I have a souffle thing, and it’s great, so yeah.

Love the perfume, still haven’t got around to trying the stuff that comes with it. So not all that much to say about it really;) But it smells great, so that’s a good sign.

Not really sure what I was thinking when I decided it was logical to photograph shampoo and body sprays together.

“Hmm. This is all that is left in the basket. THEY SHALL LIVE FOREVER IN A PHOTO, TOGETHER. The logic is clear!”

Nope.

Anyway, both shampoo’s have been reviewed in their own posts (Pantene Pro-V and Alberto Balsam) so I won’t bore you with more about that. OK, the Hollister sprays. I LOVE HOLLISTER, OK? I know, I know, everyone ends up wearing the same stuff (as I learnt on holiday, where I was mostly heard saying :’Bitch! She’s wearing my Hollister skirt! And I have that jumper! And that dress!’) but the body sprays (mostly) smell great, and the clothes are (mostly) beautiful, if a little overpriced, OK?

Hollister, feel free to send me some clothes for me to talk about any day now. No, really, you are welcome.

FACE STUFF. A couple of face washes, and a couple of face masks. In case, you know, you hadn’t guessed. I’m going to do a post about face washes and which ones are/ aren’t crap pretty soon, so I’m not going to say much about those, other than the fact that you should buy the St.Ives one immediately. I completely love these face masks, but I never get around to using them, because I’m stupid. If I’m honest, I don’t think they benefit my skin in any way, but it’s fun pretending I’m at a posh spa. I’d use them all the time, IF IT WASN’T SO BLOODY DIFFICULT TO GET THEM OFF. But yeah, I love these ones, might review:)

More soap. God. My friend got me these ridiculously cute drawers with bars of soap in them for Christmas, and I haven’t used them, because they’re too pretty and smell too nice. BUT HOW CUTE ARE THE DRAWERS. Be honest, you’re jealous. And they match my bedroom.

And we’ve come to the end of the tour of the pretentious wicker basket! I just want to do an honorary mention to the Champney’s Citrus Blush Hand Wash and Lotion sitting in my bathroom which I love, but felt it couldn’t be included in this post because it doesn’t live in the wicker basket. Damn technicalities. There’s more of this sort of stuff in my ottoman, but I felt that shouldn’t be included either.

Three letters, people.

The Genie TZ-34 is 12m boom with an outstanding working envelope and intuitive controls that allow operators to efficiently reach where they need to be.

This towable machine incorporates an articulated boom and turntable, mounted on a trailer chassis that can be towed behind a vehicle. Towable machines are ideal for homeowners and commercial applications where mobility isn’t a requirement. These booms are easy to set up, with self-levelling hydraulic outriggers. Once the unit is in place, extend the outriggers and allow the self-levelling unit to complete the preparation for use. Another advantage of this machine is that it is lightweight enough to use on lawns, slate or gymnasium floors.

Our TZ34 still has a good reach, a trailer hitch is all that’s needed and you can take the towable boom lift wherever you need to work. Easy to transport and with hydraulic auto-levelling outriggers, you’re set up in minutes. Whether you need it for tree trimming, construction, lighting, or home repairs, the TZ34 is a great aerial lift for your everyday needs.

We recommend the TZ-34 for the following:

Outside work.
General repairs and maintenance work.
Painting and Decorating.
Lighting installation (outside).
Commercial Contractors.
Cleaning (outside).

We picked a name out of a hat for our Facebook competition on Friday 12th April. On Tuesday, four days after finding out she’d won, we hand delivered the bottle of champagne to our Facebook share competition winner, Lynn from Milton Keynes. She is pictured (right) with our General Manager, Andy Smith, receiving her prize at her doorstep. She was very pleased and stated that she was using the champagne in her own raffle to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness. We’re delighted to see that it’s going towards such a great cause.

We will be running another share competition in due course, so if you want a chance to be a winner yourself, keep an eye on our Facebook page!

It was a real treat to see Poppy’s beautifully stitched wares and the displays were inspiring, particularly the doll’s house. There were lots of lovely homewares, some tiny embroidered badges, sweet sewing kits and a selection of haberdashery.

I couldn’t resist the beautiful lines of this sailing vessel with its towering masts puncturing the vast blue canopy above it and the scoop of its mooring ropes, like lead reigns, drawing the viewer in. It dwarfs all other boats on the harbour beach and the distinctive St Ives foreshore itself is pushed back to the horizon. Although the tide is out, there is plenty of reflective water, and a full trench in front of the boat mirrors the sky helping to unify the colours of the composition.

The Exfoliating Science: Exfoliators work by removing dead skin cells, leaving behind healthier glow

The Exfoliating Science:

Exfoliators work by removing dead skin cells, leaving behind healthier glowing skin. Regular use of a scrub can keep skin smooth by exposing the new skin underneath. Now many face scrubs include moisturisers too so they nourish making our skin even softer.

St Ives Fresh Skin Invigorating Apricot Scrub has been a beauty essential of ours since we can remember! The smell and feel just ticks all the boxes. The scrub gives fresh, healthier younger looking skin- plus it’s easy on the pennies!

What’s behind the label?

Water (Aqua)
Solvent for everything else.

Juglans Regia Shell Powder (Walnut)
A scrubbing component to remove any dead skin.

Glyceryl Stearate
Emulsifier that helps all the other ingredients mix.

Propylene Glycol
Stops the product from drying up.

Sodium Laureth Sulfate
Foaming agent.

Zea Mays Kernel Meal (Corn)
Another scrubber. Think flour from a corn kernel! Its unrefined consistency bestows a soft abrasive cleanse to the skin making it feel fresh but not raw.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine
Foaming agent to create a thick rich lather.

Cetearyl Alcohol Cetyl Alcohol
Fatty alcohols that provide the scrub with texture.

PEG-100 Stearate, Cetyl Acetate, Ceteareth-20
Mixes the hydrophilic water and hydrophobic oils.

Titanium Dioxide (Cl 77891)

Creates an opaque formulae.

Polysorbate 60
Solubilises all the ingredients to help keep ingredients mixed together.

Acetylated Lanolin Alcohol
Another emulsifier with some moisturising properties.

Triethanolamine
An alkaline agent used to neutralize Carbomer.

Carbomer
Thickening gel.

Fragrance
MMM smells all apricotty!

Phenethyl Alcohol
Preservative

PPG-2 Methyl Ether
Disperses the fragrance.

Limonene; Linalool
Fragrance allergens that must be listed by law.

Methylisothiazolinone
Preservative.

Glycerin
A polyol to make the product hold moisture.

Prunus Armeniaca Fruit Extract (Apricot)
Wooh! It’s the elusive apricot scrubbing agent.

Why apricot? They are known to have the highest levels of carotenoids which have great antioxidant properties. These absorb free radicals protecting the skin from damage. It doesn’t have the same powerful effect as the vitamin A derivative retinol but still protects and nourishes the skin.

Verdict?

To find a beauty product that isn’t a push on the pennies but is awesome at its scrubbing duties is rare but St Ives seems to be the exception. The consistency gives a gentle abrasion against the skin but the granules aren’t too small to be effective.

It reveals bright glowing skin- once you try it you’ll never go back!

The backdrop to the composition has a very characteristic grouping of houses that stand where the pier springs out from ‘The Wharf’ to encompass the teal blue waters of the harbour. Three small dinghies sit lightly in the water behind the solid barrier of the pier’s monumental stonework. They are pointing towards three relieving arches picked out by evening summer sun just ahead of where the massive retaining blocks hit the water. I like the way in which these blocks are delicately traced with lines of mortar running across the surface of the pier. They and the railings pull the viewer back towards the protected safety of the shore.

Skin prep is as equally important as the make-up itself. So normally, on a job, I ask my clients to

Skin prep is as equally important as the make-up itself. So normally, on a job, I ask my clients to please bring their favorite moisturizer, eye cream, serum, etc. You get the drift. Imagine my surprise when a hefty 50-60% of my clients tell me they don’t apply moisturizers at all. Let me emphasize that when we say “skin prep”, it does not only denotes the preparation of your skin minutes before any make-up application done by a professional. In my dictionary, when I say “skin prep”, it includes your regular beauty regimen. And the present condition of your skin can say how devoted you are in taking good care at it.

It is frustrating as an artist to find women neglect their skin and rely heavily on make up. The purpose of make up is to enhance your features, unless you really intend to go for the “pageant contestant look”. I don’t know with other artists but I make it to a point that skin looks real. Even if you prefer a smudgy liner or a red lip, once your skin looks real and yours, the deal is set. I never understood layers and layers of foundation. This is Philippines, for God’s sake, where summers can melt human bones.

Let your skin breathe, and let it get the treatment it deserves. Pampering your skin does not automatically spell you are vapid, vain, whatsoever. And even if others call you that, who cares? I have made up plenty of faces and nothing beats a skin prep of an already healthy skin. I always smile when I see a skin that has been pampered by its owner. Having spots does not excuse anyone not to give their skin a special attention. Either your face is pimple-less or pimple-full, it needs affection from their respective owners.

my personal face essentials as of the moment

I started the cleanse+tone+moisturize ritual when I was 13 and I have never looked back. During the years, my beauty essentials have altered many times to suit my needs. I make sure my moisturizer has at least SPF of 15, and I apply an eye cream day, night, and sometimes in between. I maybe a make up artist by profession but you rarely see me wear a full coverage foundation, and it’s not because I don’t need it. Heavy foundation feels like you are wearing a mask. And boy, it sure does look like a mask.

In our desire to present an even, smooth face, we tend to rely on heavy, creamy and super dense foundation. I am not against on that because we need full coverage on spotty occasions. What I find alarming is the interpretation of natural, everyday make up that includes layers and layers of base. Make up application is definitely easier if you have hydrated skin. And trust me, putting a 1-inch layer of foundation still looks like 1-inch layer on your face. You can probably get away with it in photos, but not in real life.

This post is to encourage women (and men) of all sorts to prioritize your skin essentials rather than your make up bag. Start your day and end it with a clean, moisturized and properly protected skin. It makes a huge difference when you call for our services, and when you remove the makeup afterwards.
