MADRID, Nov 26, 2009 (AFP) – Cristiano Ronaldo ended two months of injury torment with a 20-minute appearance as Real Madrid put one foot in the Champions League knockout phase with a 1-0 Group C home win over FC Zurich on Wednesday.

A 21st minute goal from Argentine Gonzalo Higuain secured a narrow victory for Real who now lead the group, two points ahead of AC Milan who drew 1-1 with Marseille, and need just a point in the final game at Marseille to secure qualification.

“I am scoring some goals which is nice but the most important thing is we are winning,” said Higuain. “This win boosts our chances of qualifying for the next phase of the Champions League and also gives us confidence for the Barcelona game at the weekend.”

Ronaldo, top-scorer in this season’s Champions League with four goals in two games, came on in the 69th minute after eight weeks out with an ankle injury and is now ready for ‘El Clasico’ against Barcelona on Sunday.

Real lead the Spanish table by one point from champions Barcelona going into the duel at Camp Nou.

“It is good to see Cristiano back as he is very important for us and could help us win (against Barcelona) on Sunday,” said defender Pepe. “It is a big game for us and we will be very motivated to try and win there.”

The Zurich match was a landmark game for Real goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who was making his 100th Champions League appearance putting him third in the all-time list led by captain Raul on 129.

Raul had been on the substitutes’ bench for the past three consecutive league games but returned for the Zurich game with French striker Karim Benzema making way.

Just four minutes into the match Brazilian Kaka showed quick feet to create a shooting chance and his left-footed drive was tipped over.

Zurich had caused a major upset by beating AC Milan 1-0 on their own patch but were cautious at the Santiago Bernabeu putting numbers behind the ball and playing on the counter attack.

Real probed and got the early breakthrough they craved on 21 minutes with Kaka stealing possession and threading a pass to Higuain who finished with aplomb to enhance his claim for a starting place against Barcelona.

Xabi Alonso, celebrating his 28th birthday, almost scored his first Real goal with his 26th minute drive pushed wide by goalkeeper Johnny Leoni.

A training ground routine almost provided the second for Real with Higuain cutting a corner back to the edge of the penalty area and thundering a volley against the post in the 36th minute.

Zurich had offered little and a decent long distance shot from Alexandre Alphonse was their only effort of note but Casillas always looked in control.

After the break Real went in search of a second goal while Zurich continued to offer little from an attacking point of view.

Ronaldo warmed up on the touchlines to draw applause from the home crowd.

However, Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, playing for his future at the club, was the first substitution, replacing Alvaro Arbeloa close to the hour mark.

Real were struggling to create chances and Zurich grew in confidence with the impressive Alphonse causing some problems with his running from deep.

After 69 minutes Real coach Manuel Pellegrini delighted the home crowd by introducing Ronaldo – missing for the past ten games – with Raul coming off.

Ronaldo, who showed some nice touches, came through the match unscathed which was the most important thing from Real’s point of view.

The former Manchester United man almost scored in the final minute after a good one-two with Esteban Granero but his left-footed shot lacked the power.

All in all the second half display was below-par from Real and they will have to raise their game for treble winners Barcelona on Sunday.

A limousine has long been associated with luxury, power, and high life because of its ability to command attention and to make every journey a luxurious experience.

Government organizations use limos to transport top-notch politicians, officials and state guests. Celebrities make their red carpet entry in limousines. Companies use them to transport their top executives, and broadcasting companies often use them to drive their guests back.

Since limousines have become such a symbol of – having arrived, let us know a little about them.

The name limousine has been derived from Limousin – a French region. The inhabitants of this region wore a hood that resembled the profile of the car. It first came to be used in early 18th century.

Limos typically come in black and white color but nowadays you can also find them in a variety of colors like pink, magenta, blue etc. Apart from colors, limousines come in different styles, designs and sizes.

They are broadly classified into five categories:

Traditional limousines:

Traditional limousines are modeled on the lines of a regular four door sedan but they come equipped with additional features such as TV, CD/DVD player, refrigerator, and a bar. Traditional limos have a longer wheelbase and frame as compared to sedan. This enables the forward-facing passengers to have more leg room.

Stretch limousines:

Stretch limousines are the preferred choice for special occasions such as weddings, prom nights, bachelor parties etc. They can hold up to 15 passengers and are equipped with TV, CD/DVD players, bars and refrigerator. Seats are arranged alongside the length of the car which enables people inside sit face–to-face and communicate with each other easily. Usually limousines are black in color but stretch limos come mostly in white color as they are often used for weddings.

Stage limousines:

Stage limousine is not considered a limousine in a true sense. It contains the features of both sedan and a bus. One of the important features of this type of limo is that passengers can enter via multiple doors. Its roof contains large racks for carrying the baggage of the passengers. Hummer H2 vehicles are the modern version of stage limousines. Some funeral homes use a stage limo to carry the family of deceased to the cemetery.

Exotic custom limousines:

As the name suggests, it is customized according to what the customer wants. Stretch limousines, Cadillac, Hummer, Lincoln Town Car and Lincoln Navigator are often modified to create exotic limousines. Apart from regular amenities, an exotic custom limo also contains some sophisticated features such as hot tub, bulletproof glass and even a bedroom. One of the important features of this limo is that it provides ample space and privacy as there is a soundproof sliding glass window partition between the compartment of the driver and the passengers.

Party bus:

A party bus can easily accommodate 20 to 35 passengers. They are specially hired for parties, prom nights, and for other different occasions. Many party buses allow smoking and drinking on board. A party bus is equipped with surround sound systems, plasma televisions, DVD player, disco lights, and also smoke machines.

Afgelopen 2 weken

De afgelopen weken ben ik met van alles en nog wat bezig geweest. Zo heb ik verschillende persberichten geschreven, over studiereizen, maar ook over het land Kaapverdië wat voor mij helemaal nieuw was. Daarnaast zijn we flink bezig geweest met de overname van First Choise.
Hiervoor moest bijvoorbeeld een compleet nieuwe afdeling op het intranet komen, op de Wieiswie (online smoelenboek). Deze heb ik persoonlijk aangemaakt, hier ben ik behoorlijk wat uren mee bezig geweest. Verder heb ik uitnodigingen voor de kerstborrel naar iedereen verstuurd (mailen naar meer dan duizend mensen!!). Ook verwerk ik de aanmeldingen voor de borrels in een Excel sheet. Ook heb ik alle advertenties van de bladen die wij uitbrengen (ArkeFlyer, Werelds etc.) opgezocht en verwerkt in een Excel sheet. Op het intranet heb ik bewegende banners geplaatst. Natuurlijk heb ik ook weer mijn dagelijkse bezigheden gedaan, zoals het beantwoorden van de mailboxen, het bijwerken van de wieiswie en andere kleine klusjes.
Verder zit ik ook een keer in de 2 weken bij het werkoverleg, waar ik erg veel van opsteek.
Van mijn opdrachten voor school komt op dit moment weinig terecht, doordat ik het erg druk, niet te druk heb met mijn dagelijkse werkzaamheden op de afdeling. Dit heb ik met een collega besproken en ga ik voorleggen aan mijn stagebegeleider. Ik ga de opdrachten die ik hier heb afgesproken te doen, waarschijnlijk inkorten en misschien 1 opdracht weg laten vallen.
Zo zou ik een adviesrapport schrijven over nieuw te gebruiken media en tips van handige online tools. Dit ga ik waarschijnlijk inkorten, door een aantal bladen met tips en aanbevelingen te verwerken in het ‘’handboek communicatie’’ dit is een grote map die op de afdeling staat, waarin allerlei procedures beschreven staan, zoals deze worden gevolgd bij bepaalde handelingen.
Als ik dan de bladen met tips en aanbevelingen heb toegevoegd, kunnen de medewerkers af en toe eens kijken of er een handige oplossing voor een probleem tussen zit.
Over Google ga ik nog steeds een presentatie houden, deze doe ik waarschijnlijk vrij beknopt, zodat medewerkers ongeveer weten hoe Google werkt en als ze meer informatie willen hebben, zal ik een link, of grote presentatie aanbieden waarin ze dit kunnen vinden.
De komende weken wordt het erg druk met het organiseren van de kerstborrels, het schrijven van persberichten en opleveren van bepaalde bladen die uitkomen. Meer hierover lees je over 2 weken, bij mijn volgende verslag.

Zeami was the original practitioner of Japanese Noh theatre and wrote a classic book on dramatic theory called Kadensho. He uses images of nature as a constant metaphor, for example hana, or the flower. Kenneth Yasuda, in his book Masterworks of The Noh Theatre claims that ‘This flower is both an aesthetic principle and the soul of the actor or the character or the play, and it is, beyond that, a spiritual quest. Every element of the play, every gesture, must be devoted to the flower.’ Thus we can clearly see the weight of importance given to this one symbol, but why is he so interested in using it as a metaphor, in the context of Noh Theatre?

The title of his book Kadensho can be roughly translated as “Floral Message: How Does the Wind Look?”. Zeami is using the metaphor of a flower to imply that one must possess sophisticated or ‘flowery’ skills to achieve anything in Noh Theatre. Zeami saw the flower as a sophisticated and complicated thing. This is true [see below]. Zeami felt that learning theatrical skills is sophisticated and complex; just like flowers.

Zeami also sees the flower as a metaphor for viewing a performance. The flower sheds its petals and goes through many different stages in what it looks like, starting from a bud, to disappearing completely, and this is a visible process. Similarly, in front of an audience we see a theatrical event before hand as if it didn’t exist, it then bursts into life on the stage before once more disappearing. The flower is important to Zeami as he feels that this allows us to truly understand what the performance is.

Then we come to the concept of Yugen which he defines as ‘a profound, mysterious sense of the beauty of the universe… and the sad beauty of human suffering’. This can be simply related to the flower as a metaphor, the flower is so visually enticing when alive; yet Zeami believed that when a flower begins to die the process is all the more so. Zeami, perhaps somewhat controversially, saw human suffering in the same way. Noh Theatre portrayed human life as it is; so assuming that pain is a process all must undergo, some believe that human suffering in its own way, is beautiful.

Zeami has been known to compare the flower with the idea of omoskiroki or in English, ‘fascination’. Zeami sees the flower as something to be in awe of. In relation to its metaphor within Noh Theatre, we see his encouragement for the audience to be fascinated by the performance, thus he weighs importance on the concept in this case in order to amaze the spectator.

Another key word is mezurashiki which means ‘novelty’ implying that the flower can be something new and exciting. When this metaphor is replicated on stage through interaction actors have with each other and the audience, they see that there is now a certain thrill in experiencing this, just like the joy one finds in viewing a flower. So the metaphor is important in this context because it excites the audience, just like one might feel towards nature.

We can see that this points to another point Zeami makes about the similarity between the way one cultivates flowers and the way the performer seeks to harvest a relationship with his or her audience. Zeami wants to reinforce this link as actor/spectator relationships are central to understanding Theatre, especially Noh Theatre.

Finding beauty in nature is something unique to the human soul. No matter who the person is, there is a certainty that any person from any background will find the flower beautiful. In the same way Zeami seeks to reinforce this concept. If the Theatre is like the flower, it can be loved and appreciated by all.

Finally Zeami reminds the reader of ‘the beauty of the flower of youth, which passes with time.’ This is an important metaphor to him as it reminds his audience of the fragility and fleeting nature of life. Many would argue that this is the most accurate and profound part of Zeami’s thinking, though not all see it as a positive concept, as mankind is left without hope as to what happens after his decease. Christianity was not to reach Japan until 1549,  but Zeami’s sentiments are echoed in the following bible verse,

All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever.

When creating theatre as well as in life; Zeami held this view in mind, perhaps a view that more modern practitioners should ponder, knowing that soon, our petals will fall and we will perish. However Zeami’s flower metaphor shouldn’t necessarily discourage us, all is not swallowed up into the earth, the roots remain and buds appear once more, so nevertheless, if looked at from the right angle; there is hope for theatre, there is hope humanity.

I sit gazing in the mirror as all of the half-naked dancers hurry around me, changing, doing makeup, going over steps, chit-chatting. The dressing tables are lined with flowers and gifts, standard for closing night. This will be my last performance, very last, and I marinate in the atmosphere. I take my time applying makeup, being sure to color my lips extra dark red so that I don’t look washed out on stage. You can never have too much eyeliner. Under the stage lights, even an excessive amount looks natural. I do my hair up in a twist, extra tight to make it through a hat piece and lots of pirouettes. I just used the entire sheet of bobby-pins and a half can of hairspray. Dancers stop by to give hugs and thanks for all the hard work during rehearsals. The noise comes in through my ears and ricochets inside my head as the colorful costumes make streaking patterns behind me through the mirror.

Knowing that the end is near, that this will be the last time I look out into an audience from the stage, the routine becomes a bit much for me. I can feel the tears welling up in my newly made-up eyes. I put on my tights, my dress and my dance shoes. I grab my hat and head down to the stage a little early. There are a few dancers on the stage, stretching before the show starts, and I join in on the silent meditation. I can hear the din of the theatre crowd making their way to their seats on the other side of the curtain. Countdown to the show’s start. I am performing in the first three numbers, a montage of oldies cleverly put together by my favorite choreographer, in which the middle number is a quirky duet, just Robert and yours truly.

The opening-number dancers are on stage now and the stage hands are motioning for us to take our places as they step off stage, into the wings. They look like Gap employees, dressed head-to-toe in black and sporting a headset. I step up and take my place front and center as the theatre lighting slowly dims to pitch black. I hear the announcements begin to play, “Welcome to the Lyceum Theatre…” I stand silent and fixed, waiting for the lights to come up, the music to play, and for the curtain to open. Then, I feel a draft.

Oh my god, I forgot to put on my panties. Beads of sweat start building on my face, even before the lights are up, even before I start moving. Maybe they won’t notice. Images of the dance steps pass through my memory, I do a hand stand right before I straddle Robert upside down and then he proceeds to swing me around like a ragdoll. Surely they will notice! I look toward one of the stagehands and give the signal to hold the curtain, assuming that waving your arms frantically and running off stage is the industry recognized signal. I run past the dancers waiting in the wings, back to the dressing room, turn my bag upside down, emptying its entire contents onto the floor. I dig through the pile for a sign of black spandex material, so small, so small, where are you? The other dancers are looking at me as if I’ve lost my mind. Ah ha! I jump up with the grace-saving undies, hop into them, I’m pretty sure with both feet simultaneously, (and you thought it couldn’t be done, I know you’ve tried), as I rush back onto stage and back on my mark. Not a moment passes before the curtain parts, the music starts and the lights come up. Show-time!

J’y passe bientôt pour faire remplir les papier.

Donderdag 19 november jl. heb ik, samen met mijn mede-stagiaires, een gesprek gehad met mijn begeleider vanuit het bedrijf. We bespraken wat de plannen nou eigenlijk zijn, nadat we onze 640 stage-uurtjes hadden volbracht.

Onze begeleider gaf te kennen dat hij zeer tevreden was met ons alle drie en hij zou graag willen dat we ook het duale traject bij IMHuis zouden volgen.

Dit betekent dus dat ik tot ongeveer 21 december nog stagiaire ben en begin februari voor een jaar lang duaal ga lopen. Wat er in die tussenperiode gebeurt moeten we nog specifiek bespreken, maar ik ben ervan overtuigd dat dát wel goed komt.

Eindstand: nog een jaar lang saaie en langdradige blogposts van deze overijverige student Mediatechnologie (Grafi is er toch af?).

In mijn vorige posts legde ik al uit wat voor een component ik zou gaan maken in Joomla!: ImHuisImport.

Het bleek echter toch wel heel erg hoog gegrepen te zijn om van zo ongeveer niks naar een dergelijke extensie te gaan en we besloten het dus anders te doen. Om de lat wat lager te leggen ben ik nu bezig met een component in Joomla waarmee vacatures beheerd kunnen worden. Een gebruiker kan voor zijn/haar bedrijf een vacature plaatsen, waarna hier op gereageerd kan worden.

Reden voor het maken van dit component is dat we nu een soortgelijk component gebruiken die nog Joomla 1.0 is en totaal niet clean. Het heeft een ouderwetse uitstraling en niet alles werkt naar behoren. Wij kunnen dit beter bij IMHuis! Of althans, IK kan dit beter :p hoop ik…

We kunnen uiteraard niet meteen ons geliefde programma Eclipse openen en beginnen met code te kloppen. Er gaat nog een proces aan vooraf. Juist ja, de voorbereiding! Hoe komt het component er uit te zien, welke functies heeft het, welke extra eisen heeft het, kortom: wat is het doel? Dit alles te hebben besproken en op een rijtje te hebben gezet kan het echte programmeerwerk beginnen.

Ik heb helaas nog niet veel tijd gehad om te programmeren, aangezien ik afgelopen vrijdag pas was begonnen aan de voorbereiding en er tussendoor nog verschillende werkzaamheden kwamen van website waarvan de deadline nadert.

Aan het einde van deze week hoop ik toch wel iets te kunnen laten zien, maar dit hangt dus af van alle eventuele wellicht nog naar mwillemse ge-assignede Mantispunten.

Tanta pasión han puesto en reproducir al milímetro la obra “Chicago” del compositor John Kander que asistirá por primera vez al estreno del musical de Broadway. John Kander, de 83 años y autor de trabajos como “Cabaret” o del tema “New York, New York”, ha sorprendido a todos con la noticia.

La adaptación española se estrenará en Madrid esta semana, el Jueves 26 de Noviembre, en el Teatro Coliseum y está dirigida por Gary Chryst, un coreógrafo de sobrada experiencia (ya ha montado 22 producciones del musical) que contará con la colaboración de Nigel West como director asociado.

Chryst ha querido resaltar que los creadores de la obra (Fred Ebb y Bob Fosse) estarían muy orgullosos y satisfechos del resultado de la versión española de la obra inspirada de los años 20. Lo cierto es que el estreno de la obra será todo un acontecimiento donde las expectativas son muy altas y los detalles se han intentado cuidar al máximo para obtener una reproducción lo más fiel posible.

El musical estará protagonizado por la madrileña Natalia Millán (actriz, bailarina y cantante), el malagueño Manuel Bandera (actor ganador del concurso Mira quien Baila) y Marcela Paoli (bailarina que tuvo presencia en “Delikatessen Haus” y que ya interpretó a la Roxie Hart de Chicago en 2001).

También contará con la presencia de la productora Stage, implicada en otros musicales como “La Bella y la Bestia”, “Mamma Mía!” o “Cabaret”. Una producción que coincide con el décimo aniversario de la empresa, así como con las celebraciones del centenario de la Gran Vía madrileña.

Una muestra de que Madrid está inmersa en los musicales y que bien puede ayudar al centenario de la Gran Vía para respaldar el apodo con el que muchos ya nombran a esta calle: el “Broadway madrileño”.
