In My Opinion (because I have something no one else has: my brain):

• I thought this was a funny episode.  I loved that Jim finally got his revenge on Ryan and asserted his authority.  I also thought having Oscar leave the room without saying anything and not saving the day was extremely realistic and well done.  And we still don’t know what’s going to happen to Dunder Mifflin!

Bhongir Fort is about 70 kms from Hyderabad (from Gachibowli area). It’s pretty much a single structure that’s the remnant of what-was-a-fort, built atop a massive rock. While the fort itself is okay-ish, the climb up the rock to get to the fort is pretty nice.

Here’s what Wikipedia has to say: Bhongir Fort was built on an isolated monolithic rock by the Western Chalukya ruler Tri-bhuvana-malla Vikram-aditya VI and was named after him as Tribhuvanagiri. This name gradually became Bhuvanagiri and subsequently Bhongir. It has a unique egg-shaped construction with two entry points protected by huge rocks, so the fort was considered practically impregnable by invading armies. The Bala Hisar or citadel on the top of the hill gives a bird’s eye view of the neighbouring area. According to legend, there once was an underground corridor connecting Bhongir Fort to Golconda Fort.

Hitting the car didn’t hurt much but I was quite upset when, instead of the stairway to heaven coming down, I fell into Hell. Many ask, “If the angel plays the harp, what does the devil play?” Satan’s first sentence to me answered that: “Welcome to Hell; here’s your accordion.”

This picture was meant to be a fail picture but I think its kinda cool. Almost like artwork. It probably was pop-art but someone took it too seriously. Whatever. I just wanted to share it.

So, as you know, when you have kids, you acquire a lot of kid art.  And a huge amount of it is completely awesome.  And the fact that your child made it makes it even more awesome–even if it’s only, like, a scribble that you’ve been told is “a weasel.”

Last spring, I decided that I was going to turn our house into a kid art gallery and just put those gorgeous things up on our walls.  All of our walls.  Everywhere.  

And guess what?  With almost every wall covered in kid-art, the house started to feel a little, um,  jumbled.  

At some point it hit me that even when those spaces were clean, they didn’t feel that way.  So I decided to revise.

I took it all down from around the house and smushed it all together in one place: our staircase.

And I know what you might be thinking: That with this design move, I’ve gone from a little bit jumbled to super-crazy jumbled.  And for the stairway, that’s true.  You can’t use the stairs without being surrounded, dwarfed, and — hell — engulfed by kid art.  

But the rest of the house?  Much better.

And I don’t know what Martha Stewart would say, but, for me, the staircase is much better, too.

Happy Monday one and all!   Wow, this is awesome!   Can’t wait to go to Stockholm and try it out myself (or maybe this will catch on somewhere here in the States).  Imagine, playing the piano while exercising . . . hmm, two birds, one stone (and it looks like a lot more fun than sitting at a piano keyboard . . . nah, probably not, but fun nonetheless).  Get your friends together . . . do a sonata on the stairs!

Sunset and Glendale Boulevards are two major thoroughfares running through Echo Park that appear on maps as an intersection, but in reality, cross over/under each other. This can be a bit of a problem for motorists who need to get from one street to the other. For people on foot, however, there’s a convenient stairway that gets you between them. There’s also a really cool mural painted on the tunnel walls of Glendale as it passes under Sunset.

Recent circumstances have caused me to leave my beloved Echo Park (and Los Angeles), so this series will be on a short hiatus until I can return to finish climbing and documenting the remaining stairways. Thanks for your patience – Steve “Multimedia” Jones.
