Designed by Naval Architect & Yacht Designer World renowned, Tim Kernan, the Nomad I & II offers a custom displacement hull offering an amazingly smoot glide through the water. Hovie SUP created a touring/adventure paddle board and a touring/training board to satisfy everyone. The Nomad’s are the most stable board on the market and are becoming the hottest and in demand board in many areas. The strong & stable design of this board makes it easy to paddle against wind, waves and boat wake. The bungees in the front and aft of the Nomad I offer a safe place to hold gear. The Nomad II has a bungee in the front and an extended deck pad to the tail. Both Nomads are superb for all of Michigan’s inland lakes and waterways.

Who Is SUP Michigan?

SUP Michigan is a division of Paddle the Mitten, LLC. Specializing in Stand Up Paddling (SUP) and adventures! SUP Michigan is on their second year of outfitting and guiding in Northern Lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

Linda Brown, Owner of Paddle the Mitten, has worked in the surf industry with Surftech and has been trained by the some of the best SUP’rs because of her work in Santa Cruz, California and Hawaii. Pioneering the way of SUPing throughout inland Michigan, Linda has spread the “Stoke” to many people since moving back to her hometown 3 years ago.

With a Bachelor’s Degree specializing in Michigan Geography and Geology, Linda’s educational background helps mold her unique SUP Adventures. Equipped with a Master’s in Environmental Studies in Landscape Preservation and Secondary Education her passions shine through. Teaching at the Outdoor Youth Science Institute in the Santa Cruz Mountains engaged Linda’s passion for outdoor education and guiding.

Linda’s family is a founding family of the local community, where they own a well-known business. It was working from a young age in the family business that Linda became knowledgable and enamoured with Michigan’s beauty. At as 10, she backpacked the Copper Harbor area and Isle Royal National Park. And in her teens she spent her summers working and exploring South Manitou Island and Leelanau Peninsula area. Her family business lent for an unusually active childhood wrapped around water. As the largest business in their industry, they worked in all of the State Parks in the 70s & 80s. An added plus for SUP Michigan.

Along with being an avid action-sports fanatic, traveler, naturalist and foodie, Linda brings only the equally measured passionate people onto her team. In the near future, SUP Michigan will be announcing several exciting partnerships.

What is SUP Michigan About?

In 2010 & 2011, SUP Michigan explored with their clients many off-the-beaten path inland lakes and waterways. Our 2nd Annual Fletcher’s Pond Excursion is planned for the May. With a renowned waterfowl guide joining our group, the first trip of the season is sure to be a great one. We have scheduled SUP adventures on the calendar and they are filling up – so check back to find one right for you.

We pride ourselves with friendly, knowledgable guides and personal service, they have the been touted by clients as the “SUP Adventure Specialists” in Michigan. Our shop/office and warehouse is between the county-seat of Livingston County and the Heart of Michigan. But, our fully dedicated traveling “SUP studio” with Paddle the Mitten is always on the move. We are the largest full-service SUP company in the area.

2012 will be the first year for our shop on the Detroit River, servicing clients that are in the Macomb, Wayne and St. Clair Counties…and our Canadian SUP friends.

SUP Michigan believes in quality designed product and expects nothing but the best from any product that we sell. We fully educate our clients in order for them to safely enjoy a lifetime of stand up paddleboarding.
