I just received my Hutchinson Bulldog tires for the cross bike, and am very excited to get things set up.  The issue is the Stan’s No Tubes kit.  I am running Open Pro wheels with Chris King hubs, which seems pretty straightforward.  However from everything I have read, the Open Pro is one of the rims that there seems to be an issue with when setting it up for ‘cross.  I have read that the channel is too deep, making it necessary to run 1-3 rim strips along with the tape and the ‘cross specific strips.  Having read several different postings, I figured that I’d go directly to the source, to try to avoid wasting more time than necessary.  I emailed Stan’s and here’s the response:

“It depends on the rim.  Some people need to add some extra tape on top of the open pro to make the tires fit tight with our cyclocross rubber strip.”

It depends on the rim?  Aren’t all, if not most Mavic Open Pro rims the same?  I guess I have to just experiment, which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place.

Cassie (half shaved head)

I wont give Cassie (why is she still relevant, by the way?) all the credit and say that she’s the first to do this. I’m pretty sure that a lot of rock star chicks before her have done this. However, I’ve seen a lot of black girls doing the half shaved head thing.

First it was Black guys getting mohawks. Now we got Black chicks shaving half their head. It’s not even a good look, but that’s just me though. If you ask the sheep who are rocking the mohawks and the half shaved heads to name one rockstar (because we know that mohawks, spiky hair, and shave heads are a stable of the rockstar community) and one of his/her songs, they couldn’t do it. They wouldn’t be able to tell you shit.

If celebrities started jumping off bridges, I have a feeling that 90% of my peers would follow. “I jumped because it looked good when my favorite celebrity did it.” -or- “Somebody on twitter retweeted that my fav celebrity wanted everybody to meet him at the Golden Gate Bridge so we all could jump. I went and I jumped. Now I’m a quadriplegic, but it was sooo worth it because my fav celebrity did it!”

I was thinking about some of these tyres, but there just sooo expensive, even from the likes of Chain Reaction Cycles. This is about half the price of a car tyre, which seems a little bit like profiteering when you consider the amount of rubber etc… in a car tyre.

Still they’ve had good reviews so let’s hope they’re worth the investment

In het onderbewuste sluimeren angstaanjagende situaties. En alleen bij hevige nachtmerries worden die gevisualiseerd en slaat de angst toe. Een zo’n klamme droom blijkt ook in werkelijkheid te bestaan. Kijk mee en huiver.

Velen met mij hebben terugkerende akelige dromen. Het idee opgesloten te raken in een veel te enge ondergrondse doorgang heeft me vaak bij de keel gehad. En ik werd ook regelmatig wakker bij het oversteken van een duistere rivier over een lange spoorbrug, met een naderende trein in de verte. Een andere nachtmerrie is het klauteren over een richel of bergpad aan de afgrond van een diepe kloof. En ervaren dat je na vele vernauwingen en hindernissen bij een afgebrokkeld gedeelte komt. Waarbij terugkeren even hopeloos is als doorgaan. Die laatste nachtmerrie blijkt ook in werkelijkheid te bestaan. Ik trof haar aan op een amateurfilm, toegestuurd door een vriend die vroeg of ik eens mee de bergen in wilde. Ik herinner me een vakantiewandeling door de Wolfsklamm nabij het Oostenrijkse dorp Stans. Daar klommen we over balken en bruggetjes, steile trapjes en spekgladde treden langs een bergbeek, die met een nevelgordijn de afdaling kletsnat en mistig maakte. Die herinnering begint met de sombere blik van een Duitser, die zojuist het hele pad bergopwaarts had afgelegd. Hij vond dat we die route niet verantwoord konden volbrengen omdat we een hond bij ons hadden. We gingen toch. Nog nooit heeft die hond (van meer dan 15 kilo) zo stil in de nek van mijn vader gelegen, heel goed beseffend dat protesterende bewegingen hen in de kloof zouden storten. Op bijgaand filmpje zien we El Caminito del Rey, een bergpad  aan een volstrekt verticale wand, in het  binnenland nabij Malaga, Spanje. Men heeft er vier jaar aan gebouwd om het daarna in 1905 te openen. Het is minder dan een metertje breed en bevindt zich op honderd meter boven de Rio Guadalhorce. Nu, honderd jaar later, is het pad afgesloten voor publiek. Want het is immers volstrekt onderkomen en een leuning ontbreekt vrijwel geheel. Maar via de plaatselijke  spoorbrug kun je er nog op. Er zijn de afgelopen 9 jaar vier doden gevallen en dat zullen er snel meer worden, want de filmpjes over dit pad van de waanzin worden grif bekeken op You-Tube. Voor wie het eens wil proberen kan terecht bij ene Larry die en passant zijn mobiele nummer bij een van die films heeft geplaatst. En als ik hem zo zie lachen, kun je je hond gerust meenemen.

Snakk om virring! Ikke mange dager siden jeg postulerte min teori om at ZTR 355 var tingen for meg, ikke sant? I går kjøpte jeg felger til det nye hjulsettet. ZTR 355, selvsagt? Niks, det var noe helt annet jeg kom hjem med! 283.5 gram felg til framhjulet og en mer solid og tyngre 285 grams felg til bakhjulet. “ZTR Race” står det på dem. “7000 series”. Eller som de upresise sier det, “Race 7000″!

Holy cow! Nå skal altså jeg bygge nye hjul basert på en av verdens spinkleste aluminiumskonstruksjoner beregnet for bruk i Guds frie natur! O skrekk, O fryd! Jeg kjenner at hårene reiser seg i nakken. Dette blir en utfordring.

Nok om det. Hva snakker vi egentlig om her? Jo, vi snakker om et hjulsett fra 1200-tallet. Vektmessig, that is.

Beach Boy… Här har jag använt cardstock från Worldwin (bland mina favoriter) och papper och cut-outs från HOTP, Retro. Overlayen är stämplad med Primastämpel och VersaMagic på vanlig OH-film, datumstämpeln på manilatagen kommer från Inkido. Bokstäverna utstansade med hjälp av Sizzix Wingo Zingo, siffrorna kommer från Primas Whispered Words. Blommorna kommer från Prima, och kanten på ena papperet är gjord med Fiskars stans.

Även här är det HOTP – Retro jag använt, blommorna kommer från Panduro och sen har jag gått hårt åt smyckesdetaljerna. Overlay gjord på samma sätt som ovanstående LO, en rub-on från SEI och så litet band, pärlfloss och brads.

Papper från Websters Pages, blommor från Petaloo, stickers från Bo Bunny. Och så mina älskade manilatags (vad vore livet utan dem?), overlayen är gjord med OH-plast och Staz-On tillsammans med en stämpel från Prima.
