Without a doubt, Phoenix and Passion Pit have been two of the most blogged-about and, more importantly, remixed artists of 2009. Phoenix just recently released their Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (Remix Collection), comprising reworked versions of every single track from the original album. Meanwhile, Passion Pit held a big remix contest earlier in the year, spawning dozens of mindblowing (and yes, mediocre, but that’s besides the point) mixes. It’s almost November, but it looks like the remix geyser isn’t gonna stop any time soon. Both Lisztomania and Little Secrets (double alliteration = crazy coincidence) have been chopped ‘n’ screwed beyond recognition; yet, their latest remixes — courtesy of Star Guitar, Redial, Jack Beats, and Hey Champ — still seem to provide something totally new and amazing:

Focus on an upcoming electro label today. Paranoiak is a brand new French imprint with the full support of the almighty Citizen Records.

Star Guitar (from Belgium) has been designated to be the first release which is due to be available soon… The rest of the Paranoiak roster features Kissed With A Noise, Major Minor, The Blister Boyz and the really promising Fouck Brothers from which i already talked last year (keep an eye on them!)

My friend Mark recently forward me a link to this add made by the company WOW.  It’s for Citizen Watches and has a great blend of motion graphics and time delayed photography.  The way the  sound syncs in with the building lights towards the end reminded me of Michel Gondry’s clip for The Chemical Brothers ‘Star Guitar’ which does a similar thing.  So impressed was I with their work that I decided to stumble upon more of their clips and this one (don’t know what it’s for it – it could be just for their own reel purposes) shows the numbers 1-10 through exquisitely beautiful motion graphics and animation.  Preeeetttyyyy.

I haven’t posted on here for a long time… apologies for anyone, if anyone that actually reads this blog. It doesn’t mean I haven’t been looking at stuff, I just simply haven’t got around to posting anything. Anyway I thought I’d start my comeback with the new Chemical Brothers music video for their single, Star Guitar directed by Michel Gondry (the guy behind The White Stripes – Fell in Love With a Girl and Foo Fighters – Everlong). The video doesn’t look fantastic, it looks pretty simple, but it’s anything but. In a nutshell it’s basically a video of a train journey with the objects in the view appearing to the rhythm and beat of the song. Hard to explain, it’s best if you just watch it for yourselves by clicking the link below. Also make sure to have a quick look at the making of, it’s pretty cool.

This could never be filmed on a UK train service.

Anyway, it’s about time I put a Shinichi Osawa track on here. In fact, make that three songs. To see his first ever U.S. appearance at EDC back in June was magical. Without a doubt, his set made my night, specifically the moment he played “Star Guitar.” It was the perfect moment – the setting, the lights, the people and the inebriation. It’s only fitting that my first Shinichi post involves that song, so here are two remixes of it.

The first remix is by Popular Computer. It’s a lot mellower to Shinichi’s version, but it’s still a neck-jerker, and you can surely tap your feet.

The second remix is definitely a banger. Streetlife DJs flip it into pure electro sweetness with erratic glitches, hard, static synths, futuristic whizzes and buzzes, and cowbell! This has been on repeat for a while.

honestly, i didnt know much about shinichi osawa aka mondo grosso up till last year.

He wasn’t on my hit list and i sorta ignored his presence.

I am just glad I did not continue ignoring him.

He’s been nothin short of awesome and is a massive japanese artist who is well known all over
and his mixes of digitalism to felix da housecat have turned heads over and over again.

so are you gonna let him be the one? just get his album. its ridiculously good.

Entender la forma en que se realizan ciertos proyectos audiovisuales es complicado. Muchas veces que vemos videos de cualquier categoría, nos preguntamos cómo es que pueden lograr tales efectos o acciones.
Las técnicas visuales no son sencillas de realizar, pero entenderlas no es tan complicado si tenemos en cuenta que debemos tener un mínimo conocimiento sobre los procesos de video.

Por ejemplo, el video musical “Star Guitar” de Chemical Brothers dirigido por Michel Gondry. Hay una secuencia en la que, a la par con el ritmo de la música, hay una repetición de los escenarios sin perder la continuación de los anteriores. Hay programas que logran esto tomando referencias del clip anterior y lo que hacen es amarrarlos. La razón para que el video vaya parejo con la música, es simple edición.
Pero lo interesante no está ahí, sino en la planeación de todo el video. Les dejo el link del video y otro en el que aparece Michel Gondry experimentando para lograr realizar el video.
