Sinopse: # STAR WARS – THE CLONE WARS
A República vence a batalha.

I decided to share with you fine readers what my wife and I have been watching on TV this season.

Monday-Thursday:

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central)
Both a news and entertainment source, I especially like how they don’t hesitate to point out the hypocrisy in anybody, red or blue, Fox News or MSNBC.

The Colbert Report (Comedy Central)
This is satire in its truest form. No one and no thing is safe from Colbert.

Monday:

House (Fox)
Greg’s brand of sarcasm and wit gets me in the right place. Only recently have I started caring more about the team than the weird diagnostic cases.

The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
This is our favorite show on television, hands down.

Tuesday:

V (ABC)
Though this remake just started, we’re pretty sure this show will be entertaining. I’m worried about how long they can stretch it out, but it should be a fun ride.

Wednesday:

Glee (Fox)
This show proves that a musical comedy/drama on network television can not only work, but be clever and insightful.

Mythbusters (Discovery)
Educational and entertaining and they blow things up? Sweet.

Thursday:

Community (NBC)
Half goofy comedy, half almost heartwarming. Not the funniest show, but it has its moments of brilliance.

Friday:

Stargate Universe (SyFy)
Can one show fill both our Stargate SG-1 and Battlestar Galactica needs? Looks like it so far. Not as fun as SG-1 or as dark as BSG, it seems to run right in the middle of the two, which is great.

Supernanny (ABC)
These families make us want to not have children, but Jo teaches us what to do right.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Cartoon Network)
I’m the only one who watches it, but this show is impressive. Better than the prequel movies, better than its own movie. It’s almost real Star Wars.

Weekly:

Indianapolis Colts Football Games
I’d wanted to start watching the Colts for the last couple years, but it was only when my wife brought it up that we started watching. Been an exciting season so far!

It was a good weekend for cartoons, what with Clone Wars taking on Hitchcock’s Notorious on Fr

It was a good weekend for cartoons, what with Clone Wars taking on Hitchcock’s Notorious on Friday night and The Simpsons’ twentieth (!) “Treehouse of Horror” (not its best offering, in my opinion — that honor will always go to episodes IV and V — but still entertaining) on Sunday.

But Sunday night also brought possibly the best news for cartoon-loving nerds everywhere: Venture Bros. is back, baby!

It’s hard to sum up what makes Venture Bros. so damn entertaining. On the surface, it’s a parody of the old Johnny Quest-style adventure shows. But reducing Venture Bros. to a one-note premise like that is like saying that Battlestar Galactica was about homicidal space robots. It’s the truth, in a way, but it’s missing all the layers and complexity that made the show compelling.

Like the very best comedies, Venture Bros. builds its jokes on the strength of its characterization and continuity. Any particular scene will have numerous things going on: the omnipresent pop-culture references, in-jokes specific to the audience’s knowledge of the show’s history, foreshadowing for future plot lines that will only make sense upon later rewatches. As with shows like Arrested Development – or the The Simpsons in its heyday — I can (and have) watched episodes of Venture Bros. over and over again, and gotten something new out of them every time.

(Spoilers for the premiere after the jump)

“Blood of the Father, Heart of Steel” starts season four off with a bang. (Yes, literally — we pick up directly at the explosion which ended season three.) The episode has a typically Byzantine dual story structure: the A plot follows Brock’s recovery and quest for vengeance in linear fashion, while the B plot — involving Sargent Hatred’s new bodyguard duties, 21’s quest to bring 24 back from the dead, and… a bunch of Nazis with a dog containing Hitler’s soul — is intercut in reverse chronological order. In other words, this is an episode that really won’t make sense until you’ve watched it at least twice.

God, I love this show.

The usual dense layers of pop-culture references abound, of course. My favorite is the extended Raiders of the Lost Arc gag, complete with Orpheus wearing Belloq’s outfit from the climactic Nazi face-melting scene. The larger plot has also been moved forward a great deal with Brock’s initiation into the mysterious S.P.H.I.N.X. organization and the revelation that Hunter Gathers has been undercover since his (supposed?) sex-change operation in season two.

Apparently, this season will be split in two, with the first eight episodes airing this Fall and the last eight next Summer. I can’t say I’m happy about that, but it means there will at least be plenty of time to rewatch and dissect the first batch before we push to the end.

Of course, if you’re already a fan of the show, you probably already know all of this. And if you’re not, all I can say is: do yourself a favor and DON’T start with season four. Really. The first three are out on DVD. Watch them in order and you’ll enjoy them a lot more, I promise.

… unless you don’t like cartoons that expect you to pay attention because they’re not going to spell things out or dumb them down; complex, multi-generational storytelling; serial plotlines with an enormous cast or colorful, recurring characters; non-stop historical, literary and pop-culture allusions and homages; or humor that’s both sophomoric and sophisticated. Then this probably just isn’t the show for you.

Sinopse: # STAR WARS – THE CLONE WARS
A República vence a batalha.

(Season 2, Episode 3) You’d think the Republic would have been able to realize one major short

(Season 2, Episode 3)

You’d think the Republic would have been able to realize one major shortcoming of having you entire army wear full body armor, including opaque helmets. Absolutely anybody could be under there. Of course, as we saw in the movies, the Empire still hadn’t learned that particular weakness.

This time it was Bane who took advantage of the clone armor and snuck his way on board the Resolute. Bane escaped, of course, and with the holocron was able to help Darth Sidious put forth the next plan in his movement.

I’m really enjoying the darker direction The Clone Wars is taking this season. As the war escalates, things are going to get ugly. And as soon as you pull children into the struggle, everybody’s uncomfortable.

It was particularly disturbing seeing those force-sensitive children being strapped down for experimentation. And they left exactly what was being done to our imaginations.

While Bane leads Mace Windu and Obi-Wan to the holocron, where he promptly escapes for the second time this episode, Anakin and Ahsoka follow the clues and find the children on the world of Mustafar. They rescue the kids which means everybody’s safe and Bane is loose.

The Jedi Council and the Republic are no closer to learning who Bane was working with, but Sidious no longer has any children, nor does he have the location of where they are, unless he made a backup of the holocron. So I guess we just hit a big reset button.

I’m actually finding the arcs easier to follow this season than I did last season, and things seem much more intense and “important,” as it were. Hopefully, the writers have thought long-term about the natural progression of this war, so we don’t wind up with an eleven year look at a much shorter war. M*A*S*H made that work, but I don’t think it would work here.

Friday. End of the week, but my week’s not done yet. The kids may have had off from school,

Friday. End of the week, but my week’s not done yet. The kids may have had off from school, but I still had work to have to worry about today. Not really work, but workshops that I had to go to. I got myself going at the same time and got a breakfast and a shower and was off to school at my normal time. It’s a little early for workshop days, but I had things that I wanted to get done at at school, so I wanted to mkae sure that I had time to get those things done. So, I got to school a little early.

I started by doing some things around the room that I have been dying to do since the beginning of the school year like finishing putting up some of the posters and pictures I always wanted to put up. I put up the marching band pictures that have never been up around my room because they were never in a frame. I also managed to get all the other pics that I wanted to put up, up in my classroom. It was nice to have a day where I could finish with all that work. I got done doing all of that and it was time to meet with Christine for a Unit Plan that we wanted to do. So, we worked on an MYP Unit Plan together and got finished just before lunch. I then went out with Rob to lunch at the “King Grill Buffet” a nice chinese buffet on Front Street. We then headed over to the High School and took a CPR and Defib class for school. When we finished with the class, we were done for the day.

I got home a little early and took a quick nap and then set about getting myself ready for the weekend. We had a big weekend this weekend and had to plan accordingly. I got home and started to get things together for tomorrow (we’re doing and event at the zoo). So, I got our things together with the kids for tomorrow and had it all upstairs and ready to load up into the car. I then went downstairs and worked on some things quick before watching some of my Friday night shows including “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, “Stargate Universe” and “Dollhouse” that I taped. Then Heather and I went to bed because this weekend was going to be a long one!

Okay, so let’s talk about Part 3 of Chapter 4 of “Star Wars – Medstar I: Battle Surgeons, A Clone Wars Novel” by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry……Chapter 4 (Part 3): The second storm subsided aorund midnight and Barriss was starring at the night skies noting the different colors of the night. Zan told her it was the spores that caused the different colors. Zan said he was surprised that the rain in the sky didn’t wash down the spores. She thought the sky was magnificent and Barriss thought that Drongar had at least some beauty to offer. Zan said the night sky was actually prettier because there were not many visible stars with no moon. Barriss felt his thoughts with The Force and only sensed friendliness. He then told her that Talus didn’t have a moon, but it’s sister world of Tralus was beautiful at night. Barriss said she understood the power of the two orbiting planets of the Corellian System. Zan asked Barriss who she was before being a part of the Order and she said she was brough to the Temple as an infant. She went on to explain that she didn’t know who her parents were or what her homeworld was, save Corsucant. Zan appologized for prying, but Barriss apologized back, sighting a quote from Yoda about answering in anger. Zan asked if Yoda was her Master, but Barriss corrected him stating that Luminara Unduli is. She went on to explain that Yoda has been a great inspiration to all the current Jedi, except for the one that left to join the Dark Side. Zan said he hoped to have children, but imagined that loosing a pupil would be like loosing a child. Barriss said she hoped that one day he would return to teaching. Zan said she had so much to offer too, and suggested she get some sleep. Zan headed to bed and Barriss reflected on the conversation wondering why she deflected the questions about her youth. She watched the spores change colors in the night sky again and headed back to the barracks.

I adored the 2003 Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars series, which helped bridge the gap between Star War

I adored the 2003 Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars series, which helped bridge the gap between Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Return of the Sith. The crisp, minimalist animation style looked great; the short episodes were filled with action and allowed a variety of different characters to have their chance in the spotlight. It was fun and fast paced — qualities with which the actual films struggled.

So when I heard about plans for an animated Clone Wars movie and a new tv series — both covering the same time period but using a different, colder CGI style and adding a teenage apprentice for Anakin — well… I was a little skeptical. Fortunately, although I still prefer the look of the Tartakovsky version, the new series (and yes, Anakin’s headstrong apprentice, Ahsoka) have otherwise completely won me over.

Like the original animated shorts, the 2008 series follows a variety of characters from the expanded universe (as well as more familiar favorites like Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Mace Windu).

Storylines are presented in multi-episode arcs, which allows for a higher level of detail, characterization, and continuity than you might expect from a 22 minute cartoon aimed at kids. The dialog is snappy, both heroes and villains are vibrant — even the clone troopers have distinct, interesting personalities — and the whole thing is full of action.

It’s also full of female characters, which is more than you can say for either of the main trilogies. Princess Leia may be both my childhood hero and my first female crush, but she is also painfully alone. In the new movies, I wanted to love Padmé Amidala, but after a promising start, she got less and less effective in each succeeding movie before finally dying of a freaking broken heart. (Thanks for that, Lucas.)

In the Clone Wars universe, however, Padmé gets to do a lot more. She adventures and investigates; she’s got some freaking agency. She’s also got a lot more company. So far, we’ve seen female heroes and villains — Hutts, Jedi, dark Force users (the always entertaining Asajj Ventress, who I dearly wish had made it into the films), bounty hunters and senators. And, of course, Ahsoka.

Full disclosure: I love Ahsoka. She’s stubborn, loyal and brave. She makes mistakes constantly, but she also owns them. She gives Anakin crap, and also helps humanize him. She’s great.

(She also… doesn’t really fit in with the rest of what we know will be canon. So in my mind, at least, the entire animated series takes place in an alternate universe from the one of the films. A step to the left, if you will, where Anakin is a little less whiny and has a snarky apprentice. It’s more enjoyable that way, trust me.)

I think my favorite thing about her, however, is the fact that she isn’t defined by her gender. I can’t think of a single instance on the show so far where the scene would have read any differently had she been a boy. Ahsoka isn’t Anakin’s Girl Apprentice. She’s Anakin’s apprentice… who happens to be a girl. This is the kind of thing I would have killed for as a kid: plotty action show with a girl like me who gets to play the hero and wield a lightsaber? OH, HELL YEAH.

After a successful 22 episode first season run, season two (helpfully subtitled: Rise of the Bounty Hunters), booted up with an hour long premiere last week in which a pair of enterprising bounty hunters staged a successful heist of valuable information from the Jedi archives.

I am a big fan of anything involving the Jedi library, so this made my night. (Princess Leia’s awesome and all, but the truth is that if I could magically transport myself to the Star Wars universe, I’d be a Jedi librarian, no question.)

I have high hopes for this season’s arc. Bounty hunters have always been a crowd pleaser for Star Wars fans. They tend to have cool toys, and they’re the perfect clever, amoral adversaries for the Jedi, who — let’s be honest — are noble, but can sometimes be a bit priggish.

While we wait to see how the season will unfold, isn’t it nice to have new Star Wars material that you’re not embarrassed to admit you like?

(Season 1, Episodes 1 & 2)

Now we know just how dangerous bounty hunter Cad Bane can be. I kind of suspected it from the beginning because of his cool cowboy hat. Not just any alien can pull off an American Western look like that, but he does it. That said, he did prove to be a worthy adversary for our Jedi.

Particularly, Ahsoka. Man, I am waiting for that chick to die almost every episode now that we’ve been told Jedi will start dying this season. We know almost all of them get purged, and she’s so damned impulsive she makes Anakin look like Yoda.

And they were right about the stakes being raised. Jedi are dying.

When we finally learned what Bane was after, it sent a proverbial chill down my spine. Not literally, because I’m not that much of a geek. I call that level of geekiness the “Crying Hobbit.” Because I had a fat kid dressed up like a hobbit next to me at a screening of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and he was sobbing like a baby by the end of it. SOBBING, I tell you.

Still, the thought that Bane went through all of that trouble just to get essentially a database of where every force-sensitive child is in the known galaxy is pretty chilling. That information in the enemy’s hands is pretty horrible to consider. That, and the Jedi not having easy access to the net generation of their Order.

This was also my first season of The Clone Wars in HD and it was beautiful. I think the storytelling was a little more sophisticated, so I didn’t feel quite like I was watching prettier versions of Ewoks and Droids. These stories feel like they matter, and I know they do.

We geeks are very particular about what is canon and what is not. The development of Anakin Skywalker has been spot-on. He’s already making selfish decisions for the ones he loves at the expense of the properly military solution; he does so here by sacrificing the Kyber crystal data to Bane in exchange for Ahsoka.

And, of course, he attempts a rash subterfuge that doesn’t exactly work in his favor. So we also get a very pleasing ending whereby the heroes don’t win and everything isn’t wonderful. I much prefer an Empire Strikes Back ending in an ongoing saga like this.

I enjoyed the continuing use of the droids as comic relief. They got a lot of fun out of Bane’s very Threepio-like little droid. By the end of his very confused existence, I actually felt sorry for the little guy.

Season Two sees the Spaghetti Western influenced (Lee Van Cleef’s characters in For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) Cad Bane take center stage. Coming this Fall to Cartoon Network. Too late for inclusion in my book but included here for you pleasure.

Cad Bane was first introduced in March 2009 in the webcomic Invitation Only followed by The Clone Wars season one finale “Hostage Crisis.”

Sunday. I was exhausted from the last four days and I’ll be honest, I just wasn’t in th

Sunday. I was exhausted from the last four days and I’ll be honest, I just wasn’t in the costuming mood today. Which was okay because we really didn’t hang out much at the Con out of costume, so today it was okay to spend a day out of costume. I got up around nine o’clock a little groggy from the drink and just from being tired. But, I had to work the Mercs table at ten o’clock this morning, so I got a shower and started to get dressed. I decided to wear a new outfit today and wore a kilt for the first time. It was an interesting new experience and I have to say that it was kind of cool wearing a kilt. I then left the room with some of my stuff and did my time at the Mercs table.

At eleven o’clock, Jackie and Derrick met me at the table and that’s when Derrick suggested that we leave tonight around midnght. He said if he had some sleep before then, he should be able to drive most of the night. His thought process was that we ould beat most of the traffic since it was the Monday of a holiday that we would be looking at driving through. I agreed and we did a walk through of the artists at the Con. I had a GREAT conversation with Matt Busch and talked to him about my podcast and he would now like to have an interview with those in my podcast team, so we’ll be setting that up later on. I continued to walk through and then we decided to head over to the Walk of Fame. We went over there and got some autographs, including Jackie getting an autograph from Barry Bostwick and me getting an autograph from Alan Ruck, who played “Rabbit” in the “Twister” movie as well as playing the friend in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”. He and I had a great story and he signed a picture for my wife with the quote – “Rabbit is good, Rabbit is wise” (an inside family joke!). I then got an autograph from Peter Facinelli (from “Twilight”) for Ruth which caused me to have to wait in line for over two hours. I also got an autograph from Peter Mayhew for Austin. I decided to go around the Con to the vendors for a while when Jackie and Derrick decided to got back and get some sleep before tonight. I walked around the Con and got a whole bunch of things for the kids, including an autographed picture from Carrie Fisher for Tara, an autographed picture from Ashley Eckstein for Ruth (Ahsoka Tano), jewelry for Heather, a book for Austin, a shirt for Tara, some odds and ends and I was finally able to get an autograph from Anthony Daniels for my own wall.

I got done shopping just in time to hook up with Tom and join in the “The Future of Star Wars” panel and went in with a bunch of the Mercs. There are several interesting things coming around the corner for Star Wars. They showed a trailer for a new video game that I think my kids may like where you can play as several Jedi or their companions. They showed a trailer for “Star Wars In Concert” and then a new trailer for “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” Season 2, which is being titled “Rise of the Bounty Hunters”. Then there was a question and answer session where some people asked some questions about the games, the TV show, and the BIG answer of the day – someone asked about Daniel Logan and his role as Boba Fett in the Live Action TV Series. Steve Sansweet said they had no official word, but that Logan’s camp would have BIG news in the near future and that we should all pay attention to that. Huh, looks like Ian and I were right all along! And so many people doubted us! We got done with the panel, and I said goodbye to a bunch of the Mercs and explained we would be leaving tonight.

I went back to the Condo and started to pack things up and clean things up. I ate a little bit of dinner and then took about a two hour nap. After my nap, we continued to clean up, when Jackie and I decided to start loading up the car. Not too long after that, Derrick woke up and helped us load up the car. Next thing we knew, we were ready to go and were basically just sitting around watching “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” on the TV. We decided that since we were just sitting there, we should just start going home. So, we took off and got about fifteen minutes outside the city and got some gas. While getting gas, I realized that I forgot my pillow (my expensive one), so we went back and got that from our roommate, Matt, and then were on our way again heading home. We drove through the night with few traffic problems at all.

Okay, so let’s talk about Part 2 of Chapter 2 of “Star Wars: The Hive” by Steven Barnes…..Chapter 2 (Part 2): Obi-Wan agreed and said he had never heard of mystical powers, so he was not asking the X’Ting to believe. Jesson found Duris’ need for the Jedi help as a sign of weakness. Just as Obi-Wan was aobut to speak, Jesson shushed him and started paying attention to the moss on the walls. Now hanging from the ceiling were blue spheres that looked a lot like part of the body of Duris’ assistant, Shar Shar. They were larger with a vaguely transluscent skin and blue veins. He asked Jesson what they were and the X’Ting said they are called Zeesta and that they freed them to help produce a food called Lifemilk. He said the creatures left the hivt to live a more peaceful, quiet existence. He told Obi-Wan that Lifemilk is a delicacy and offworlders can afford it better than the X’Ting themselves. The room warmed up rather quick because of the addition of the extra bodies to it. As Kenobi stared at one of the spheres a nose, two eyes, and lips began to form as if a face had developed out of nowhere! the same happened on two more of the spheres. He heard a gurgle and began to wonder if the Zeesta were asking each other what he was since they’ve never seen an offworlder before. As they walked through a huge room, he sensed thousands of sleeping beings and as he starred at one of the blue bulbs, his own face began to look back at him. Jesson then explained that the creature was dreaming and Obi-Wan was part of it’s dream. They reached the far side of the cavern and entered a tunnel as Obi-Wan reflected on the image of such a mindless creature.

The new television season is literally days away, and if you still have trouble deciding what to wat

The new television season is literally days away, and if you still have trouble deciding what to watch, here’s something that could help – my advice on what to watch and what to avoid…

Amy Poehler, 'Parks & Recreation'

Sitcoms are (mostly) very strong this season. If you still haven’t heard about all the Emmy buzz and the critical acclaim Tina Fey’s been getting, you obviously live in a cave. But, if you still haven’t checked out ‘30 Rock’, there’s something wrong with you. The show is not showing signs of stopping and has hit a creative high last season. Amy Poehler’s little baby, ‘Parks & Recreation’, however, wasn’t on a high this spring as it didn’t bring as many laughs as ‘30 Rock’ did. However, it’s still a very watchable show, Amy Poehler is magical and I encourage you to give it a shot.

Speaking of shots, a few of those should be fired at the person over at FOX who thought picking up ‘Brothers’ would be a smart idea. No wonder the show landed a Friday spot along with the disastrous ‘Til Death’. I haven’t seen any of these pilots, but thinking of suicide while watching the trailer for this show kinda gave me a good idea of what it might be like. Avoid!

Since I’m talking about new shows, I should mention a few of my personal favorites, judging by the few trailers I’ve seen. I love Joel McHale, ‘The Soup’ is a hilarious show, so I’m definitely looking forward to his new show ‘Community’, and so should you. The show is occupying ‘30 Rock’s’ timeslot until ‘SNL Weekend Update Thursday‘ ends because it will be enjoying the comfortable lead-in of another wonderful sitcom – ‘The Office’. The show, now entering its sixth season, left us on the edge of our seats when we found out Pam was pregnant. More. Office. Please.

NBC really does have a lot of strong shows (‘The Jay Leno Show’ not being one of them. Yuck.), but there is one show in particular I can’t wait to see axed. ‘Heroes’. Ever since the first season finale, the show has creatively been dropping and dropping. And it never ends. Hopefully this will be the last season. Which is what I will never say about my favorite little show that could, ‘Friday Night Lights’. DirecTV was obviously the best thing that could happen to the show, but if you don’t have DirecTV, you’ll have to wait until summer to watch the new season. Normally, I’d be super pissed because NBC is airing it in the summer, but the show has a guaranteed 5th season, and for such a low-rated show, five seasons is a major success. Go Panthers!

The cast of 'Glee'

I said I would mention new shows and then completely changed the subject. Okay. ‘Glee’. Just saying the name makes me happy. This show is probably the best anti-depressant out there. If you don’t like it, if it doesn’t bring out a smile on your face – you’re a monster. Plain and simple. Go watch ‘Two and a Half Men’ or something. I bet that “hilarious” show will cheer you up. It’s actually quite incomprehensible that the same guy created that piece of junk and the lovely ‘Big Bang Theory’. If you haven’t seen TBBT yet, go for it. You don’t have to be a geek to like it. Also a great comedy show – ‘How I met your mother’. Absolutely brilliant.

There are two new sci-fi shows over at ABC that I’m really looking forward to. Of course, they’re ‘FlashForward’ (yes, it’s one word) and ‘V’. They both look great, and hopefully they’ll help ABC rebound from the disastrous midseason they had this spring (Remember ‘Cupid’, ‘Homeland Security’, ‘In the Motherhood’? Neither do I.) The only not-really-SciFi show on ABC I’m not looking forward to is ‘Eastwick’. It’s a ripoff of ‘Desperate Housewives‘ with magical powers and witches. Big deal.

'Modern Family's Julie Bowen, 'The Middle's' Patricia Heaton and 'Cougar Town's' Courteney Cox

ABC does, however, have a promising comedy lineup. ‘Hank’ looks horrible, yes, and I will avoid it (as should you), but the rest of it looks okay. ‘The Middle’, ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Cougar Town’ look like promising shows, so hopefully they won’t bomb. Half of the comedy lineup is going up against CBS’ comedy lineup of ‘The New Adventures of old Christine’ and ‘Gary Unmarried’. Piece of advice: Watch ‘Old Christine’, forget about ‘Gary’. ‘Worst Week’ should’ve been given a second chance over that piece of crap.

Aaand speaking of crap, let’s move on to the CW. The network has become a crapfest, with a few exceptions (‘Supernatural’). ‘Smallville’ should’ve been given the axe like 6 seasons ago. Nine years and Clark Kent still isn’t Superman. Geez. Also, the seventh season of ‘One Tree Hill’?! This used to be one of my favorites, back when it was watchable and I was still, well, inexperienced, but now, I can’t bare to watch it. Plus, two of the show’s stars are gone. Why would you wanna watch that? And yeah, ‘90210′? 9021-No. If you want to watch a good teen show, then switch over to ABC Family. No, I’m not talking about that disgrace of a show about teens having sex. I’m talking about a little gem nobody’s watching - ‘Greek’. Like I’ve mentioned in one of my Memorable moments columns, there’s no backstabbing, shocking deaths, murders and evil twins, yet it’s the most entertaining teen show on TV right now.

Ron Perlman 'Sons of Anarchy'

Let’s move on to grown-up stuff. Okay, cable shows. ‘Dexter’ is, of course, a must-see – even though last season was kinda boring and Jimmy Smits kinda drove me crazy, the upcoming fourth season looks crazy… good. Check it out, you won’t regret it. Also worth checking out is FX’s ‘Sons of Anarchy’ the motorcycle drama entering its sophomore season. Guns, shootouts, drama, sex – it has everything. If you want a watered-down version of SOA, check out ‘Southland’. And I mean that in a good way. The biggest surprise of the spring has been pushed back to October, but that still shouldn’t stop you from watching it. And finally, an honorable mention among cable shows - ‘Stargate: Universe’. ‘Atlantis’ got really pathetic in its last couple of seasons so I gave up on it, but I’m willing to give the ‘Stargate’ franchise another chance.

However, ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ can be 10 times more stupid, but I’ll never give up on it. I’m a hardcore ‘Wars’ fan, and if you still like to watch a good-old animated action-series, check it out.

There are two genres I haven’t touched yet. Procedurals and reality. Let’s start with procedurals. There aren’t that many of them I can really recommend, but if there was one I was really impressed with last season, it was Tim Roth’s ‘Lie to Me’ - great entertainment.

The judges of 'So You Think You Can Dance'

And since I’m talking about a FOX show, I’ll quickly recommend two more FOX shows - ‘Fringe’, a great sci-fi show and the buzzed-about ‘Dollhouse’. ‘Fringe’ is definitely better, but ‘Dollhouse’ deserves a second chance. Now, back to procedurals. ‘CSI: Miami’? ‘Law & Order: Season 423′? ‘Cold Case’? Why are they still on? Please, don’t watch those. They will make your brain bleed.

And finally, the cherry on top – reality shows. You know, ‘Dancing with the Stars’, ‘Top Model’ and ‘The Biggest Loser’ are entering their upteenth seasons, but there’s one newcomer I absolutely adore. The fifth season just ended a couple of weeks ago, and it’s coming back for a fall season - ‘So You Think You Can Dance’. The most entertaining reality show with the biggest level of talent. You have to watch it.

Well, okay, I guess that’s it. Hopefully I’ve managed to help you with your fall choices – it sure looks like it’s gonna be a great one! And if you’re still not satisfied with what’s being offered, don’t be sad – midseason is bringing us a lot of great stuff! Already in January we are welcoming back new seasons of ‘24′, ‘American Idol’ and ‘Damages’ as well as a few promising newcomers – ‘Caprica’, ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’, ‘Human Target’, ‘Day One‘ etc. Here’s to the new TV season!
