We finally ran for shelter in the nearest beer house, then the second nearest, then we made new plans and tried to head on our way. Of course no old school Toyota meet would be complete without car troubles.

Finally we all settled in to a nice warm beer? Enjoyed a nice cold restaurant? There was beer and food.

My name is Brittany Herrera and I’m your November 2008 Starlet of the month!

I am 21 years old, but not for long. On the 22nd of this month I’m turning the big 22. I’m from San Pedro, California born and raised but currently living in Seal Beach, and loving it! I couldn’t live any where else but by the beach. I adore the sun and hate the cold.

Pretty sick for a drophatch.

I think one of my best features are my hands.  I have long piano fingers as my family likes to call them.

I love to have medium length finger nails that are nicely painted.  I can get my nails to grow to a certain length and then they start chipping and pealing.

I love getting acrylic nails done.  However, with having 4 kids, a house, a husband…that is just not doable or financially possible.

Glue on (or press on) nails have come a LOOOONG way since I last used them 12+ years ago.

After catching some reviews on You Tube (just by accident) I decided to find some and give them a shot.

My first purchase were Revlons  Runway collection in Starlet.

I was amazed at how gorgeous they were in the package and decided to wear them the week of Christmas.

It comes with everything you need to achieve gorgeous nails.  It comes with the small orange stick, glue, and nail file.  Along with 24 nails.  I paid $7.95 for them at Wal-Mart.

I then went back the next day because I realized I needed more practice at putting these on and decided to get another set, just a different brand.

This time I picked up Nailene Couture nails in Runway design Platinum.  It also comes with everything you need.  Just a small glue stick instead of the bigger on that is in the Relvon.  I paid $4.97 for them.

I just love them.  I love the fancy french manicure nails.  I should also let you know that both of them are in medium length.

And the best part….you can find them with all sorts of designs.  I put my nails on Saturday morning (yesterday).  It is now 7:12 and I still have all of them on snug.  I have also done laundry, washed a insane amount of dishes (dishwasher is broke)….I have really been rough on them today…and they are still hanging on.

You are suppose to get 7-10 wear out of them.  However, some women have worn them for 3 weeks with no problem.

The best thing is my nails looked just as good as a lady who just had her nails done a few days ago….in a salon.

Will I wear these constanly…no problably not…maybe every other month and on special occasions and holiday.

Here is what my finished nails look like.  I couldn’t be more happier with the way they turned out.

Just remember to follow the directions to a T!  Both sets of these nails have a glittery affect to them.  My husband even commented on how nice they looked.

After an eight year absence, the 11th ceremony of the Hot d’Or Awards, the grand ceremony of French porn, made its return this week without missing a beat.

The event was held on the prestigious stage at the Salle Wagram in the City Of Lights – Paris, France – some 200 meters from the Place Charles de Gaulle-Etoile and a stone’s throw away from the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe.

In attendance was a plethora of porn elite including Jesse Jane, Jenna Haze, Alexis Texas, Katsuni, Jessica Drake, Kristina Rose, Christoph Clark and John Stagliano.

The overwhelming attendance of the mainstream journalistic press was an historic opportunity to give back to the French adult industry its place in mainstream media.

Evil Angel director Christoph Clark, nominated for Best Director of Gonzo, agreed “This ceremony is fantastic. It will be an unforgettable moment for me because I knew the first Hot d’Or 20 years ago. This will prove to the media that pornography is always.”

French director and nominee John B. Root echoes Clark’s thoughts “We have a great need of sequins and media, reminding people that the X is primarily a genre with artists. By coming out to Hot d’Or, the media restores speech to people who do this job and they return the cameras and the press to this kind of art, which still has plenty to say.”

“This is the ceremony where everyone should be,” admits nominee Mike Angelo, in the race for the title of Best Performer. “An old image when it was still the difference between amateur and professional. The time has come!”

In the history of the Hot d’Or, the Salle Wagram succeeds Lido, which hosted the ceremony in the capital in 1997, for the first time alternating with the tradition of Cannes. Formerly devoted to evenings of the Napoleonic Empire, the stage has seen the likes of Maria Callas, Georges Carpentier, Rostropovich and Lino Ventura. Created in 1865, this space of 850 square meters entirely wooded, with balcony, is the ideal setting for a gala dinner, followed by a lavish awards ceremony, presented by 1970s porn sensation Brigitte Lahaie, to honor France’s Hot Video Magazine’s 20th Anniversary.

“I’m very grateful to win this award. For all the people that voted for me and to be recognized internationally as an actress out of the thousands of girls that are in the industry, that’s a big deal,” says Jane of her Best American Actress award.

“This is my first time out of the states. Coming to Paris is just great. It is breathtaking to have a ceremony here. Everything is so graceful, it’s unbelievable,” Kristina Rose says visibly excited. Nominated for Best American Starlet, the California actress didn’t hesitate for a second to cross the Atlantic to attend the Hot d’Or. “I came with Mr. Pete and Alexis Texas. We are all nominated and once we found out, we knew we absolutely had to come here. It’s like living in a dream. I would bet that this is the best ceremony in the business. Kayden Kross, who later took home Best American Starlet, must have been on the same flight as Alexis. When asked about the differences between the U.S. and France she springs to life with, “there are so many gorgeous people in this country it’s not even fair! I’m eyeing a few really gorgeous performers that I’ve never met before. Like that blonde over there with the ponytail.” Kayden must have a good eye because it just so happens she’s talking about euro-hottie Tarra White, who picked up a few awards of her own including Best European Actress. “I named her my nymph. I love her. I’ll meet her later!” Kross says enthusiastically.

Jessica Drake seems genuinely shocked to be recognized so far away from home, “A lot of people seem to know who I am. It feels strange. I go to introduce myself to them and they stop me with ‘Oh My God, I know you!’ It’s very exciting that the Hot d’Or is back. I was already here for the last edition in Cannes and I’m really happy to be back! There is a glamorous side that comes with this unique event and the international recognition is absolutely incredible.”

The international craze also agrees with Dana DeArmond, who made the trip just to accompany her friend Bobbi Starr, who’s nominated for Best American Performer. For DeArmond, the Hot d’Or represent “a very important event, especially when considering returning to the United States. When people learn that we were in Europe for a ceremony, our popularity breaks through the roof!”

“Having a Hot d’Or is truly coveted,” says French actress Katsuni, who took home the award for Best French Actress and Best Actress Blog. “It’s so good to be recognized in your own country!” On the Best Blog award she continues, “I was not expecting it at all. Generally people like hard[core], but my blog is super soft so I didn’t think it would be successful.”

“For me the Hot d’Or Awards were before. All the stories I heard from others who told me about the ‘big time.’ Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to live it. So today I’m delighted it’s back. Vegas is Vegas, the city of excess. But Paris is the Parisian chic, it has lots of charm, the American dream. So it’s really nice to have this event here.”

This morning People magazine revealed its new cover featuring a photograph of 29-year-old Jaycee Dugard. The image is the first to be released to the public since she was was freed after spending the past 18 years in captivity and reunited with her family.

A quote from Dugard accompanies the cover photo that says simply, “I’m so happy to be back with my family.”

Friends and family members close to Dugard, who was not directly interviewed for the 10-page article, spoke to People magazine about her abduction, the years she spent imprisoned and the struggles she and her children, Angel, 15, and Starlet, 11, are having as they adjust to a normal life.

The issue hits newsstands nationwide this Friday.

Last Friday was wheels day at work.  Basically, they cone off half the car park and everyone brings in their toys for a bit of show and tell.  There was also an opportunity to have a few laps of the emissions circuit.  Luckily, someone dropped out so I got a place and made some emissions!

Here’s a better pic of the exhaust fitted. I drove it a decent distance for the first time this week since fitting it; it was so loud it made me feel sick. At least now I know it’s loud enough.

I saw this little photo shoot and it brought some interesting thoughts to the surface for me so I thought I would bore you to death with them. Back in high school I drove a Ford Pinto, your standard no frills econo box, but I lusted after a Mitsubishi Starion/Dodge Conquest. Their sexy aggressive lines, state of the art, turbocharged, it really changed my (back then) view of  japanese cars. Keep in mind when I was in high school you could still buy a brand new Starion or Conquest off the dealer lot! Fast forward to present day and for some reason while all my peers are dreaming of sexy state of the art sports cars I’ve done a one eighty and have a hard on for no frills econo boxes. I need to analyze this and figure out what’s up with my strange fascination and my goofy brain, because looking at this shoot, there’s only one car in there I’d love to put in my garage, and it ain’t the sports car.

The Conquest does have the coolest radiator of the two though!

Just threw a quick vid together. Yes, it’s pretty poor and I’m clearly not Josh Herron, but you get the idea! Ha Ha…

A simple bolt on replacement can was never on the cards. I Only wanted enough silencing to take the harshness out at idle, but still enough noise to rattle windows and upset the neighbours.  I picked up this street fighter can, pointed it roughly at the car, then took it to bits. It was fitted with a baffle and the internals were only 1 1/4″ diameter.

Drilled out the rivets and pulled the guts out:

Seriously, look at the state of that! It was promptly removed!

I opened out the end and on the baffle out of an old can I had.
